Wrightstory Presents: Revisiting The Past

So if you have come across me before, you will know my name is Kimberley Lieb. If not, when I am a Brit who lives a few miles outside London in a leafy suburb with my teenage daughter and 19 year old Missy cat, who thinks she rules our home! Well she does but shush!
This is my fourth Wattpad Block Party I believe and am honoured that KellyAnneBlount has asked me to be part of another event and thank her for all the hard word she puts in creating this great get together showcasing the great talents of Wattpad writers.

In the summer of 2017 I arranged an informal meet up in London and it was such a great success, it is hoped another can be arranged in 2018. If you are interested in coming along to the next one, please message me directly with your email address.
I am a Senior Ambassador for Wattpad and the highlight for 2017 for me was to travel to Toronto for the WattCon in October 2017 and be part of it all. The amazing vibes from everyone was overwhelming and I'll be there next time by hook or by crook. Wattpad writers seem to be such gentle souls. If only I could bottle those happy smiles and feel good emotions we all had, I would be a millionaire.
The most wonderful part was getting to meet people I regularly chat to and make new friends. You are all amazing. I feel so blessed to have been part of it.

So now we are up and running with 2018 and this year I seem to occupy a different life to that of the last. I'm a single pringle and although it's been a bumpy ride, I'm also relishing the freedom it has brought and new opportunities that have opened up to me. In September I joined a film making club and they chose my film idea for the next project and I am finishing off the script to make a short film. It is teaching me lots of new skills and we will be collaborating for read overs, to ensure the dialogue feels real before we film it. Our recent exercises in acting out scenes spontaneously without lines, really makes you consider the realism of your character's voices.
Many of you know I'm a tarot reader but I have also started belly dancing classes with a sociable bunch of local ladies ranging in age from late twenties to mid-seventies. I might not have all the moves yet but I certainly laugh a lot with them and they have also inspired me to write another book at some point.
I have found my tribe on Wattpad and I want to thank everyone who has supported me by personal messages and critique on my quasi memoir Just an Ordinary Girl.

Losing my mother last year was pivotal to my life changing in ways I never expected. It might have been painful but I now feel I am emerging from it wiser and hopefully ultimately happier. Writing Just an Ordinary Girl is my therapy, it's my way of dealing with a difficult mother who had severe mental health issues and letting it go. To be honest, I never really talked about it previously. My mother's illness was very different being severe schizophrenic to that of another family member and friends who suffer from bi-polar and forms of depression and continue to do so. I'm told my childhood wasn't normal but I have nothing to compare it too, it is the only life I knew and I am not alone.
We cannot help the way we are but the fall out affects us all in different ways. Some people do not have the help they need or feel unable to access it or ask. The circumstances often are complex and the solutions not straight forward or maybe even achievable.
If you have read my book you will know that some chapters are harrowing but I realised whilst writing it was important to add the happy moments of my life too, as everything in life makes us who we are and anyone who has met or chatted to me, will tell you I am a chirpy soul and have a good life.
Initially this book was a NanoWrite project and if anything, it has taught me to write faster and speeded up the process, so if you have not participated in a NanoWrite, I strongly suggest you do so. I might not have completed the word count but I did write substantially more than I usually do. Hence as I focussed on the writing of this piece, I haven't got round yet to finishing and polishing the book cover yet.
The rest of the book has been written and will be posted and finalised in February. Just an Ordinary Girl has been such a personal journey for me and the comments have pushed me to complete it. If this book is featured, it would mean so much to me and fingers crossed, I hope it is.
Lately I have been focussed on Just an Ordinary Girl so my co-written book The Awakening with Heather Coyle on our joint profile CoyleLieb has been forgotten slightly mixed with time off with our families for the holidays but we will get back to that in the next couple of weeks. https://www.wattpad.com/story/92946311-the-awakening
I am still editing my first book, a psychological thriller; Someone Hiding in the Shadows currently at 32.2k reads and will be writing book 2 later this year.

I love speaking to other writers and learn what makes them tick and the way they write. Everyone is so different and it makes is so interesting.
Writing is a journey, which we navigate through life and carry our experiences with us onto the pages we write. The more time I spend writing, I find my manuscripts become less clumsy as I gain more insights from my craft and the books I read.
I am sure you will agree that there is nothing like connecting with fellow writers who understand your writing passion.
Words brighten my world and my friends I have made on Wattpad add a sparkle. I hope they do yours.
Before you go, I'm fairly new to Twitter and Facebook, so do pop along and say hello to me. Take pity on me as I am trying to get more social media savvy.
