randomsweetstuff Presents: Do Not Press The Button!
WARNING: THIS POST INCLUDES; REVERSE PSYCHOLOGY, CLICKBAIT, A RANDOM GIRL WHO LIKES TO THINK SHE KNOWS WHAT SHE'S DOING, AND JOEY.
Hello everyone,

Welcome to my #WattpadBlockParty Post!
Firstly, I would like to thank KellyAnneBlount for giving me another opportunity to be here and you all for reading this. That's if you stick around.

Secondly, this post will be talking about a button. The publish button in particular. You may or may not want to press it after we're done here. This post will include 5 tips about publishing on Wattpad.
I'm going to keep each part short and sweet so I don't bore you to death but if you have any questions along the way, feel free to comment or slide into my PM. I promise I don't bite. Seriously, cannibalism ain't cool.
1. Determine
DECISIONS, DECISIONS, DECISIONS
There are many options, believe me, you don't have to only write a 60k word book on here. Here's some ideas for you:
»Novel
The obvious option but not always the easiest. A novel is always fun to write but it can take up a lot of time and commitment. I recommend trying out the other options before jumping to this, but I'm not in charge of you so do as you please.
»Short story
They are (usually) quicker to complete due to the short nature. I would recommend everyone starts out with short stories. There's numerous competitions hosted all over Wattpad in which you can enter and test out your writing skills if you do not have any inspiration or wish to practice.
»Poetry
A good way to express yourself and practice rhyming. It's nice to sometimes just write down a stanza or two. Life can be stifling at times and also joyous. There's no better way than to note them in the form of words. This can also be personal so it's not the first thing I would recommend publishing.
»Script/Play
This is a new one for me, but it's something that isn't largely seen on Wattpad, however this is a place for all of literature and it's definitely for people who are good with dialogue but hate writing descriptions. I can't say I find it easy but it's fun.
»Media
Show off your creative streak, and make covers, banners or even gifs. Many people appreciate fan art so don't be shy to send yours.
2. Updates
REGULAR UPDATES = MORE READS = RANKINGS
This isn't a scientifically proven method. So don't come after me with pitchforks and torches if it doesn't work out. Updating regular is a lovely thing for readers. People usually stick around when a book is updated quickly. The more reads you get, then you're more likely to get a ranking.
I recommend to follow these methods, though I haven't tried them all out, I do know they work for some of my Wattpad friends:
»Complete the book offline
Self explanatory. Just finish the book before you start publishing it on Wattpad to ensure your readers get a regular dose of you.
»Advance Writing
Simply write a set amount of chapters ahead of the time so when you publish in Wattpad, you will not have as much pressure to meet deadlines if you're ahead.
»A set time to write
Well this can vary from leaving time to write everyday or just at a certain time during the week. I can't say when you're most creative time is but I'm sure you have one.
3. Attraction
DON'T JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER SAID EVERYONE AS THEY LOWKEY JUDGED A BOOK BY ITS COVER

The truth is people look at summaries and covers before opening a book on Wattpad. You need something to hook your readers into reading that first chapter.
I, personally, suck at writing summaries. I won't be able to give much advice on that, aside from, asking a friend if they would read the book without explaining to them the plot or use an extract from an interesting part in the book (like a part with a cliffhanger).
Now for covers, I can say much more on. There's a few ways to get a decent cover:
»Make One
I use canva, which is both an app and website to make all my media. It's simple for me to use and has many templates. The recommended Wattpad cover size is 512 x 800 pixels. It's important to use the correct size or else your cover will be cropped awkwardly and no one likes that.
»Clubs
On the website, there are clubs where you can easily find users who make covers. They usually cost simple things like a permanent follow or for you to read a few chapters of a book. Just contact them to request a cover.
»Graphic Shops
Simply search media, graphic or covers and you'll find a range of media books. You can choose someone to make a cover to fit your style. Each book has instructions to follow, to request a cover, and payments. Some don't even have payments. Read them carefully and make sure that they are currently taking requests.
4. Communication
TALK TO ME BABY
Wattpad is also a social media. It allows readers and writers to communicate. It's a great place to make friends with people who are interested in the same hobbies as you i.e reading, writing, media design.
Good communication is an important aspect in life. On Wattpad it's a feature that makes it stand out from other websites:
»Comments
It's important to reply to comments or at least let the person know you're reading them. It can make a person's day to get a reply from a writer sometimes.
»Message Board
It's a good place to throw parties-I mean talk, yeah talk. It's also a place to notify your followers of when you've updated, or experiencing writer's block, etc.
»Private Message
If you're too shy to ask questions in public or write a massive fangirling letter on an author's wall, it's a good place to go. It's also a place to talk to friends or just say hi to a fellow Wattpad user.
5. Dedications
A SECRET WAY TO MAKE PEOPLE FEEL GIDDY.

This isn't a tool that you'll find on the app unfortunately. It's also one of the most underrated thing because it's not on the app.
To dedicate a chapter to a user, you need to first have the chapter published. Then you need to return to the chapter you published, on the website, and click on those 3 little dots in the right corner. On the drop down menu, you'll find a place to dedicate the chapter of your choice.
Now dedications can be used in a few instances:
»Inspiration
Sometime you have an author that has inspired you on Wattpad to write your own book or create a cover for them. It's nice to let them know they've helped you in some way.
»Awesome Reader
Sometimes you'll find a reader that is constantly supporting you or has written a brilliant comment. I refer to those really long comments or the regular commenters. It can even just be a fan letter or someone who sent in some fanart. It's a great way to let them know that you've noticed them.
»Friends
A good friend will help you out in many ways so it's always nice to show that you've appreciated them. It can even be a beta reader or someone who motivates you to write when you don't feel like it.
SO NOW GO SHOWCASE YOUR TALENT CHILDREN. THE WORLD WANTS TO SEE IT. PRESS THE BUTTON. YOU ARE READY NOW.
In other news, BEEP BEEP I'M A SHEEP and if you have not heard so because you're living in a pineapple under the sea, I shall be giving away one cover or banner to three lucky winners. My giveaway is international so no excuse. You'll find the link at the top of my profile.
