DoveReign Presents: Writing Hacks
WRITING HACKS AKA HOW TO SURVIVE THE APOCALYPSE
HEY GUUUUYS! It's your friendly, orange Wattpad neighbor - Dawn. I'm happy to be a part of the Block Party again and this is my fourth time. *squeals* I hope you guys are having a good time with all the amazing writers so far.
Today, I've decided to give some writing hacks. Or ways to survive plot holes. And procrastination. And the world ending. But mostly, survival tips.
1: CAKE is the answer to everything.
Yes, you've read that completely right. Cake is everything we want - it's a delicious treat and it gives you happiness. It's also heaven. *cue stomach grumble* How is cake a writing hack? Well, it's a treat.
And a trick. (but mostly a treat) Every time you finish one writing goal or one chapter, you treat yourself to a piece of cake. This doesn't mean that it has to be cake (that's quite a pity), but it can be anything that you want - an episode of a tv show, buying a book, world domination etc. So long as you stop yourself (oh yes - this requires self-control), you will get the words out because lives (aka cake) are at stake.
2: Planning Pants
All evil villains plan out their world domination before they start; just like you - you adorable, evil writer. It also helps you stop from falling into those plot holes that keep appearing and suck you in to a dark dimension filled with tears. So, plan. Take a short break. Look over your plan until you stop your characters from stupidly tumbling down into holes with no reason whatsoever. Then, write out the whole book till your fingers beg for mercy.
3: Punching Your Readers
Metaphorically, of course. Plot twists, descriptions that make you feel like you've finally escaped from reality and slipped into the book dimension, dialogues that creates an impact - all these punches are amazing at bringing your book to life. Sprinkle them like fairy dust all over your book and watch the magic happen.
4: Pet the Plot Bunnies (but don't give in to their temptations)
Plot bunnies are those devious, cute bunnies that sneak into your mind when you are trying to focus desperately on your book. Warning: can also be defined as creatures that will eat your brains out.
But resistance isn't the answer to making them go away. Instead, you should write them out. Pet their soft, little fur and softly coo, "Yes, you exist on this page. And I will come back to you some other time." Then you leave and never look back till you're done with your current book.
5: Finish What You Started
That means sitting your butt on the chair and getting the book done. Of course, the cake is calling, everything around you is catching on fire, and someone is turning into a dragon, but don't let that distract you from finishing your book. Dedicate some time and write every single day. Yes, that sounds like hell and impossible at first, but just like your sneaky creeping that you do to your fridge late every night, you can make it a habit. A good one.
6: Always good to cry together
Find a fellow writer and start the Tears Writing Club as you use the force of your tears to get words out. That means having a sprinting partner, a supportive friend, a cake supplier and so on. Having a writing friend with you to write is helpful so, reach out and find them. Support each other because together you can conquer the world and your book.

I hope these tips are the answer to all your late-night cries as you bang your head against your laptop. Or at least a motivational push into the writing dimension that will consume you whole and make you write 24/7. So, I leave you with my parting words: Write. Eat Cake. Be happy and love your book because it's your precious heart.
I'm also giving away a shout-out to one awesome person so enter my giveaway! Thanks for reading my post and I hope you guys enjoyed it. It was nice meeting you all virtually and I hope you have an awesome day!
Hugs and Chocolates,
DoveReign
