I'm a 14 year old Indian girl and in a country where every other person is a doctor or an engineer, wattpad was an oasis in the desert for a girl who was 'just okay' at everything except writing. Two years ago I found wattpad and hallelujah! I've always loved to write, and with this site I got a platform to voice my opinion and make my thoughts heard. In a few short months of my wattpad life, my book skyrocketed and hit in the SciFi What's Hot list. I got up to 1k votes in very little time and soon after that, 9k reads. That's very little compared to some people, but I was 12-13 years old and it was a huge deal for me. I met so many amazing people here. People with hearts of gold and a will of steel. People who will be a part of my life forever. I've made so many friends here, I've gained followers and a family. I used to be the little girl writing stories in a notebook at the back of the class, now I'm the girl with nine thousand readers.
Wattpad has not only helped my possible future career, but it has been a part of my growing years and moulded me into the human I am today. Wattpad has had a huge hand in my personality, choices and actions. People say ignorance is bliss but it is not. Through wattpad I learnt so much, I learnt about all the struggles people around the world are facing. I learnt about LGBT and how to be a more open minded, accepting person. I learnt that mental illness is a thing and a lot of people have it and it's nothing to be ashamed of or make fun of. I learnt that there are real problems in the real world and if I don't get a book I've wanted for months it really doesn't matter. Above all, wattpad has taught me to be a better person. Without this little site I would be so different than I am today. Wattpad has influenced me in so many ways and for that I will be eternally grateful.

Originally, I joined Wattpad because I saw it as an outlet to express my creativity. Now that I have been a member for nearly two years, I realize that it is much more than that. I have not only been able to share my stories with people around the world, but I also have been able to form many friendships with other readers and writers.
Wattpad is a community that embraces diversity which I greatly appreciate because I have been able to meet and interact with people from different races, religions, and countries. Wattpad has allowed me the opportunity to connect with new writers and old friends using just mere words.
Also, Wattpad has allowed me to give back to new readers and writers through my campaign/magazine . I'm able to host contests, do random reviews, and even make advice columns to share with up and coming authors. Without Wattpad, I would not have been able to experience the amazing works of others because let's face it, there's some AMAZING undiscovered talent on here.
On top of that, Wattpad has allowed me to grow my audience and to also grow as an author. I was blessed to become part of the Top 25 with my short story, Once Upon a City. It was an experience that I will always remember and was honestly a turning point for me. Making it into the Top 25 encouraged me to keep going on, to keep writing. This accomplishment was a way to prove to myself that I would never give up my dream to become an author, no matter what.
Also, I have received an overwhelming support from my fellow writers. Overall, the Wattpad community is one of the most supportive communities that I have ever been a part of. I love seeing writers support each other, whether through comments of a story or through the community portion of the website.
In general, Wattpad has allowed me to experience many different things that will not only help me to grow as an author but to also grow as a young woman in a world full of opportunity.

On August 18, 2013, I officially joined Wattpad. I never knew that three years later (AKA the best day of my entire life), I would be driving three hours away to NYC to meet writers I've looked up to ever since I joined. People like Jordan Lynde, Ali Novak, Ariana Godoy, KnightsRachel, RebeccaSky, Kelly Anne Blount, and more. These people had started Wattpad just like me; reading, posting a story, not expecting much. You never think you're going to make it big like Anna Todd did, or Ali Novak. Wattpad is all about the underdog. You don't have to have a degree in English. You don't have to be an adult. Wattpad lets anyone be a writer if they work hard enough to become one. I never knew I would want to pursue writing the rest of my life if it weren't for Wattpad. I've got my heart set on an English major like creative writing, all because of Wattpad and the people that have supported my writing for making me feel like I'm not alone in the world and that I may actually be able to do what I love for the rest of my life. I would have never thought I could try to publish, because I'm just a teenager. No one takes teenagers seriously. However, on Wattpad, people see you differently. People see you as equal, because all that matters is your writing. If your heart is set on writing and you work diligently, you will always have supporters on this site. The real world may suck, and I may never publish a book, but on here, I feel like an author. I feel respected, loved, and connected with the Wattpad community. I would not be where I am today without Wattpad; running a writing club at my high school at the age of fifteen, a part of the Wattpad Block Party more than once, on track to sending out my full, edited novel (which I could have never accomplished without the site) to agents and perhaps publishers someday, possibly going to writing camp for a few days, and nearly reaching one million reads on my book. Wattpad changed my life, and really is a dream come true.

Wattpad has not positively impacted my life.
Wattpad IS the positivity in my life.
Even during the most uncertain of moments, Wattpad has been a firm rock of unwavering growth, fun, and support. It has empowered me to hone my writing skills, and forever changed my opinion on the power of the written word. To me, there is nothing more profoundly impactful than the knowledge that something I have written has been read by and affected the life of someone whose name I will never know and whose face I will never see. I am eternally thankful to Wattpad for granting me this magical experience, usually reserved only for the famous, at such a young age and relatively low level of popularity. This world of online writing filled with success stories has shown me firsthand that talent comes in all shapes and sizes, and that you're never too young to live your writing dream.
Of course, no account of my Wattpad experience is complete without a mention of the incredible readers and fellow authors I've met here, and the lasting friendships I've forged. Getting to know incredible writers such as IceRequiem and JesseSprague has done much more than simply allow me to connect with like-minded people. Participating in book clubs and discussions with these authors and more like them has given me an open forum to share my ideas and opinions on writing and gain similar input from others. After a week in a book club, every member walks away with great feedback on his or her book. That's what I love the most about the Wattpad community. We write together, we read together, and we grow together.
As an added bonus to what's already phenomenal, Wattpad has connected me with amazing opportunities that I never would've found without it. Just half a year ago, I stumbled upon an upcoming publisher right here on Wattpad. Now, my book is coming out in a little over a month! Wattpad has led me to my dream of being a published author, while giving me an awesome experience along the way.
