Character Superlatives Contest

Hi everyone! I'm so thrilled to be included in this amazing lineup at this Wattpad Block Party! A huge round of applause goes to my fellow participants as well as to Kelly Anne Blount for orchestrating the event.

For those of you who don't know me, I'm Selena Brooks (@selena_brooks), and I'm so excited to share with you all a mash-up of some of my favorite books that I've written. I am presenting an "awards show"—you could consider it a superlatives contest—and my characters are the ones competing. So finally, you can see all of my characters interact as they face off for coveted awards in their categories! For those of you who haven't read any/all these books, there are no major spoilers.

SELENA'S CHARACTER SUPERLATIVE CONTEST

Brittany: I can't believe I got put in this category! There's no way I'm a gossip.

Celia: Obviously not. A true gossip admits and embraces it. Plus, you don't have nearly the social standing required to be a good gossip.

Vanessa: Well I think I'm just as good a gossip as you are, Celia. But at least I don't dig up dirt about my best friends and then share it.

Celia: Don't you get it? That's the point. There's a reason you've got to climb to the top of the social ladder.

Brittany: Well count me out. I'm so disgusted with this.

WINNER: CELIA CARTER

Brittany: Congratulations?

Carter: I hate this name. It's implying that we've turned into softies.

Jesse: That can be a good thing, you know. Then again, you were never a true bad boy—you just wore a leather jacket. I was actually part of a gang.

Liam: Not a real gang. Anyway, I'm embracing that fact that I'm a good guy now. It beats pretending not to care about anything.

Jesse: Well Carter definitely didn't win. I doubt he's even turned good.

Carter: What's all this about turning good? It's fun to run wild, break a few hearts, you feel?  

WINNER: JESSE DAVIDSON

Gabriella: Not to attack anyone personally or anything, but I should definitely win. I've been fighting life versus death out here. I'm the only one in an action book, not some sappy romance.

Kate: Excuse me? Did you forget the part where I almost died in a fire or drowned and had to think myself out of those situations?

Evelyn: I agree. Kate and I have common sense. You're just acting on instinct, Gabriella.

Kate: Yeah. Evelyn lived by herself and took care of all that adulting stuff—and her two younger sisters—for who knows how long.

Gabriella: I can't believe you guys. Are either of you smart enough to know when you use a knife or run? Who to trust and who not to?

Kate: I don't think you're doing a great job knowing who to trust, you know? Do you even really know Emory?

Gabriella: Oh, shut up.

WINNER: EVELYN CAVERLY

Paige: Well this is an easy one. I stand up for my best friends and support them no matter what.

Cody: But you have to spread the attention out over a bunch of friends. I just have Quinn, and I'd do anything for her.

Liam: That's only because you're in love with her. How about true, ride or die friendship? That's me and Erika.

Paige: Um, Liam? You betrayed Erika.

Liam: I did not! Anyway, you hated Ever's guts for the first year you knew her.

Paige: At least I didn't break my best friend's heart like Cody did or sell her soul in exchange for revenge like you did.

WINNER: PAIGE MAZOR

Andrew: Well according to the definition of a "golden boy," we should all be too civil to fight about this.

Cameron: Yeah, I really don't care about this. It's just some dumb award. But if someone were to win, it wouldn't be Spencer. He hid a pretty important secret from his girlfriend for a really long time.

Spencer: I was protecting my best friend, man. Sometimes you have to pick—I either would've gotten screwed over for betraying my best friend or my girlfriend.

Andrew: Considering you ended up with neither your best friend nor your girlfriend, how'd that work out for you?

WINNER: SPENCER O'BRIEN

Spencer: I'd say it worked out pretty well.
