emmyles Presents: A Day in the Mind of Em Myles
A Day in the Mind of Em Myles
To be honest, there are a lot of things I want to say, but
I have no idea what I want to write or where to start.
I guess I'll start with....I've finally released The Alliance - I Declare War!
It's available on Amazon and Kindle Unlimited. The first 20 chapters are also available on my Wattpad Profile.

Hmm, what else? I've decided the second book in the series will be called The Alliance ~ Swear Your Allegiance. Swear Your Allegiance is Jacob and Ebony's book, and I'm over the moon excited to write it. There's something about Jacob's 'crazy' that I love writing...Do not ask me why. I have no idea (I do but don't want to tell you) and would rather not try to contemplate it too long.
Okay and let's keep it moving before I start a long monolog of my love for my fictional character Jacob because that'll lead to my love for Lucas and Kaelen.
During The Academy ~ Book One, I actually wrote a lot more about Ebony and Jacob besides that one scene at Crystal's but decided not to use any of it. But I'm dying to give my readers a chance to read some behind the scenes that focused on Jacob and Ebony, and I had a eureka moment.
Back Story for the Out Take
In The Academy - Book One and Book Two there's reference to a sex filled night between Ebony, Jacob and a woman named Gloria after the trials of despair. After that Ebony never quite looked at Jacob the same and actually became downright scared of him and Lucas. I removed it because I didn't want to get side tracked by Jacob and Ebony in Lucas and Kayla's book. Lucas was enough of an 'S' all by himself. Book Two came along, but I didn't get a chance to add it there; to be honest, I was tired of my little sister calling me the queen of flashbacks, so I just trashed it.
I'm going to give it to you here minus the sex since we're keeping it pg-13!
One more thing!!! My disclaimer... I write dark romance, and there is no guarantee of a happy ending with my stories. My characters are unrepentant, and my stories aren't for the faint of heart. If you are looking for deliciously wick male leads, women that are kick ass, and bad guys that defy logic then I'm your girl. If you are looking for rainbows, unicorns and happy endings with a pretty pink bow, I'm definitely not the author for you.
Now with that out the way; buckle in and enjoy.
Jigu - The Academy's Pub
The interior of the pub was in stark contrast with the gaudy exterior and Ebony decided she liked it. Sitting at a far corner table of the dimly lit space, Ebony was able to see almost everything that was going. On the stage behind the bar was a tall Raxon male holding a glass of purple merlot while singing a capella, a foot away swayed a few students obviously unable to decide if they should be dancing or just standing there.
Snickering at their blank expressions she tried to concentrate on the conversation going on around her. Swirling her peach fizzy water around in the crystal glass she sat flanked by Alex and Quaid and across the table were Lucas' cousin Orchid, Jacob, and Gloria. Holding in a grimace, she wondered which of the two would finally be able to catch and keep Jacob's attention. Right now he seemed more interested in what Quaid and Alex were talking about; with a little more effort she tried to listen.
"The fuelling crystals are the reason why sonic burst speed can't be reached in the white zones," argued Quaid slapping table and causing Ebony to jump. "Don't you agree," he asked the table searching for someone to back his argument. "Jacob," he inquired arching a purple eyebrow.
Trying not to laugh at the confused look that flickered across Jacob's face Ebony decided that the safest thing to do was to focus on her drink while staring down at her broken nail. The conversation was a little too technical after what they'd been through.
Releasing a forlorn sigh she wished she'd went with Kayla but the cold, dismissive look in Lucas'midnight blue eyes had chilled her to the bone. Instead, she'd accepted Quaid's invite, and now she sat trying to appear interested when all she wanted to do was lay down in her bed with a good book and her stimulator.
"Ebony? Are you listening," she heard Alex asking, snapping her back into the here and now.
"Sorry I wasn't," she mumbled deciding honesty was the best policy. "What did you ask me?"
Alex's eyes crinkled at the corners, "I asked if you were enjoying The Molecular Physics of Spell Design class?"
"Who'd enjoy that," she snorted sending her ponytail flying around her head as she shook it. "It's tedious, and the professor doesn't know half as much as he thinks he does."
Alex gaped momentarily surprised by her response, but he covered it with a smile. Nodding in agreement, he raised his glass showing his appreciation for her answer. Ebony arched an eyebrow to see if he were going to ask her to elaborate but he was once again talking about something mundane with Quaid and she took that as her cue to space out again.
Tapping her tattered nails against the table, she decided to focus on what was happening across the table from her and had to cover her mouth as a trill of laughter escaped her lips. From Orchid's perturbed expression her latest attempt to grab Jacob's attention had failed. Ebony nursed her drink for the next half hour being amused by Orchid while Alex and Quaid changed their conversation to the latest articles in the rags.
Plucking a slice of peach out of her drink Ebony noticed that every chance Orchid got she'd rub her breast against Jacob's arm and when he'd glance her way she'd bat her eyes at him. It was all in vain, the most he did was give her a stare that should have had her running for the door.
"Do you think Jorge will be okay," she asked finally having her fill of listening to ideal gossip and watching Orchid and Gloria. "I'm almost sure that blast could have killed him," she worried before taking the final sip of her drink. "I think I should go ahead and call it a night so I can go visit him, tomorrow."
"Why would you do that," sneered Orchid staring at Ebony as if she were some a specimen that needs to be dissected.
"Because it's the right thing to do," declared Ebony pushing away from the table. "I think I'm going to call it a night."
"Wonderful idea," exclaimed Alex while he and Quid stood up with Ebony. "Quaid," he added motioning toward the device he'd put in front of Ebony so they both could see it, "we should go back to the dorm and talk some more about this. I'm telling you we are on to something that will revolutionize space travel."
"Yeah you all should go," frowned Orchid sending one last imploring glance Jacob's way before her pale pink lips pressed into a flat line, "My associates just got here so I don't see any reason to pretend to be sitting here with you anymore."
The venom in Orchid's voice gave Ebony pause, but she quickly dismissed it along with the horrible woman. "Good night," mumbled Ebony to those remaining at the table.
"Why don't we go together," offered Orchid jumping to her feet. "You too Jacob! We should go to my room and have another drink before we all call it a night."
"Um," frowned Ebony ready to decline, "I have -."
Before she could finish her sentence, Jacob was beside her with his hand on the small of her back. "It's just a drink," he whispered with a smile that didn't quite reach his eyes. "Don't say no."

I can't believe I came up here, worried Ebony biting her lip as her eyes flickering around Gloria's room. What in Jericho was I thinking? Ebony's eyes landed on Jacob as he reclined on the dark gray couch, and she remembered what she was thinking. When Gloria had invited them up, and she was about to declined but Jacob's smile had turned sinister, and she'd been too nervous to see no.
"Nightcaps," exclaimed Gloria stopping just outside a small door to show off her silhouette in an almost sheer silvery blue mid-thigh nightie. Coming toward them Ebony saw, she held up a black bottle of alcohol with three crystal glasses. "My dad got this for me on one of his trips to Rax! It's all the rage on Dayum right now!"
"I'd like to try some," purred Jacob patting the seat next to him for Gloria to come sit next to him. Arching an eyebrow in Ebony's direction, his smile widened as he indicated the other side of him, "wouldn't you Ebony?"
Not really, she thought to herself, but out loud she responded, "Just a little. I have classes tomorrow and wouldn't want to wake up late." Shifting uncomfortably under Jacob's watchful fawn brown stare she hurried to a brown lounge chair that had been placed opposite him and Gloria to his chagrin.
"Here," gritted out Gloria sloshing the thick black liquid on the table as she dropped the square cup on the table. "You need to loosen up a little," she added thought a tight smile.
Ebony leaned forward picking up the glass her nose crinkling as she inhaled the toxic brew. Sure it couldn't be the liquid she brought the contents to her nose sniffing it even as Gloria and Jacob both drank theirs in one gulp. That close Ebony was sure the smelly liquid had singed the hairs in her nose; disgusted she put the cup back down without drinking any.
"Why don't we get more comfortable," asked Gloria huskily leaning toward Jacob giving him a perfect display of what the shift already didn't cover while her fingers splayed on his stomach. "I can think of so many ways to help you," pausing the woman licked her tongue over her bottom lip, "relax."
"You look pretty comfortable," blurted Ebony gesturing at Gloria's lack of clothing. "We'd have to get naked to be any more comfortable," she laughed choking when she realized that was precisely what Gloria had in mind. "I should leave," rushed Ebony jumping to her feet.
"You should stay," whispered Jacob in honeyed tones, "I insist."
Ebony mouth parted on an exhale, his words seemed innocent enough, but the way he was eyeing had her stomach in her throat. Out the corner of her eye, she could see Gloria nodding anxiously in agreement.
Holding her hands in front of Ebony she shook her head, "I'm not into either of you so I should leave."
"Oh my gods," gasped Gloria her eyes widening in disbelief. "You're not into Jacob? You can honestly sit there and say you are not into Jacob Kevin Lawson, the second chair's heir apparent?"
The denial sprang to Ebony's lips with ease even as her body begged for her to join Gloria on the couch. The way Gloria was rubbing on Jacob had her wishing it were her but it wasn't in her nature to throw caution to the wind. "I should leave," she repeated focusing instead on the rumors that surrounded Ah'Tarians.
"But Ebony, I insist that you stay," murmured Jacob pushing Gloria's hands away and rising.
Ebony jaw went slack as she watched Jacob move in one fluid motion from the sofa before his long legs had him standing in front of her. Tendrils of lust unfurled from the pit of her stomach warming the neither regions between her legs, and at that moment all she wanted to do was drag Jacob Kevin Lawson to the closest bed. Beads of sweat formed on her forehead as she met his piercing gaze.
"I should stay," she heard herself say breathlessly unable to break the gaze they were sharing.
"You should," agreed Jacob his lips curling into a panty-melting smile while his thumb brushed against the corner of her mouth. "I promise you'll enjoy it if you do."

The morning hit Ebony like a freight transport. She woke up with pleasurable tingle between her thighs, a sore neck and back, and a pounding headache. It didn't take long for the memories of her night with Jacob and Gloria to come rushing back. Heat burnt her cheeks as she remembered what she'd done and what she had let be done to her, but the warmth slowly faded, and a coldness seeped into her bones as she recalled something that couldn't be right. While she'd been dozing off Jacob had grabbed by the shoulders pulling her against his body while mumbling something incoherently before sinking his teeth into her neck. I had to be dreaming, thought Ebony, something like that would have hurt like the pits of the underworld. Even as she came to that conclusion, her hand went to the apex where her shoulder and neck met. Wincing Ebony arm fell useless to her side as the bitter taste of acid filled her mouth causing her to gag.
"Oh, moon goddess on high," she whispered as more memories flooded her. "His eyes had turned gold, and he told Gloria and me to forget something." Moving from the bed, she ignored Gloria's sleeping form hurrying to grab her jumpsuit before scouring the room for her fire green blazer. Finally locating it, she put her clothes on.
"Don't go," she heard Gloria cooing from the bed.
Ignoring her, Ebony picked up her device from the coffee table, where the black tar drink still rested, with a blank stare. In flashing red, she could see had two new messages; one from Jacob the other from her cousin on Mizu.
"I'll read it later," she grumbled fumbling with her boots as she tried to get out of Gloria's room.
An hour after she'd washed away all traces of the previous day she was ready to dismiss yesterday from her mind. Twisting her lips in scorn of her decisions she pressed the button that would open the first message.
"Ebony," she heard Jacob's sexy voice purr from her device setting her core on fire. "It was fun," he continued in the same honey drawl, "Don't think of what happened as a one-time thing but as something that can happen between friends. I'll talk to you later."
"Wow," snickered Ebony waving a hand that stopped the message, "if that's not thanks but never again I don't know what is." Pausing, she allowed herself a chance to stare at the eerily beautiful image of Jacob on her handheld. "I'd rather not anyway," she finally decided pressing a button to save his message. "I knew Ah'Tarians had their little sexual quirks, but damn they could have put a warning out there that they bite," she mumbled as her fingers touched the sensitive spot on her neck again.

In keeping line with my previous book I'm having something made:

What is that? In case you're wondering it's a pendant in the shape of Jacob's family crest the Phoenix. I'm having it made for the cover of the second book.
Thanks for sticking around and reading this! Let me know what you think.

Remember to enter my giveaway to win a free digital copy of The Alliance or the pendant I'm having made.
The above outtake will not be in the second book.
