katherinepowell Presents: I Now Pronounce You Rockstar & Wife

"You're going to remember this day for the rest of your life. The rest of your life, and you decided to go to bed without pants on."

"I didn't think you would be barging into the room at the crack of dawn." I mumbled, eyes squinted against the fluorescent light beating down on my face. "I thought only girls did that for weddings."

"I was put in charge of making sure that this day is perfect for Liv, so I'm going to make sure that her groom is there in one piece and on time." Patrick huffed, "And I got up two hours ago, so I don't want to hear any attitude from you."

I mumbled some choice words for my fiance's best friend under my breath, sitting up slowly. I had stayed in a hotel room for the night before my wedding, giving Olivia full access to the $4 million home we would be sharing in just a few hours. She was incredibly superstitious, and had decided that we couldn't wake up next to each other on our wedding morning. That counted as seeing the bride on the wedding day.

So, being the gentleman that I hoped I always was, I had opted for a five-star hotel evening, conveniently forgetting to tell my beloved that I got free room service while she had to deal with making her own dinner the night before.

Being an international pop star had its perks.

I kicked my feet over the side of the bed, keeping myself covered with the blanket as Patrick went to go fetch me some pants. Sleeping without pants was a comfort thing for me; it wasn't as if I had been planning on giving my fiance's best friend a show the morning of my wedding.

He threw me a pair of boxers and a pair of sweatpants and I stood up, pulling them on and jumping a bit to get them in a comfortable position on my legs. I turned around to begin my morning, despite having planned on beginning it two hours later.

"I'm going to run downstairs and get some breakfast." Patrick informed me. "When I come back, I want you to have been showered already. We don't have much time."

"It's 6:00 in the morning!" I shouted at his back, "We have six hours!"

But the door slammed behind him and I was then yelling at nobody.

I rolled my eyes and trudged into the bathroom, stopping in my tracks before I reached the door.

I had brought a framed photograph of Olivia and I to the hotel with me, so I would still have her with me when we were apart. My mood was immediately lifted when I looked at the picture; it had been taken a year and a half ago, at a block party hosted by our neighborhood. I had twigs in my hair and Olivia had a leaf stuck to her shirt, but we were both grinning from ear to ear.

It had been the day I revealed to her that I knew her past. Our past.

My sour mood had vanished upon seeing her beautiful face, and I practically jumped into the shower, ready to begin preparations for the wedding. There was nothing that we couldn't do, Olivia and I. We were soulmates.

I washed myself from head to toe, scrubbing to ensure that I didn't miss a spot. It was my wedding day. I was getting married to the girl I had been in love with for almost five years now.

It seemed like it had been a lifetime already.

I wrapped a towel around my waist and headed for the sink, brushing my teeth and giving myself a quick smile in the mirror. When I was younger I had always seen celebrities do that in the movies; they grinned at themselves whenever they got the chance. So naturally, I had to do the same. I figured it came with the territory.

I found the same pair of sweatpants that Patrick had thrown at me and pulled them on before running my fingers through my hair and going back out into the bedroom. Patrick was waiting for me.

"You better hope you never lose those abs." He muttered, throwing me a shirt this time. "I think that's 90% of the reason Liv's marrying you."

"I hope not." I replied, my voice muffled by the T-shirt going over my head. "She could a lot of guys who are more ripped than me."

She could get any guy she wanted, really.

"Alright. Are you ready?"

I nodded, swallowing nervously. I hadn't been nervous for the entire day up until this point. Staring at myself in the mirror. My tux felt too tight and my throat was dry. I had no idea how I was going to go through with this.

Not the marriage part.

The standing-in-front-of-millions-of-people part.

I was getting married, but that wasn't it. I, Lincoln Carter, was getting married. My wedding was going to be broadcast around the world. I had to hope I didn't trip and fall or mess up on the vows.

Singing was easy. I was used to it. I was good at it. But marrying the love of my life in front of millions of people...that was the hard part.

Olivia probably wasn't stressing. She never stressed about anything.

I took a few deep breaths. There was no one around me. I could make a run for it.

After thinking for a few seconds, I decided to.

I ran out of the bathroom and down the hall of the country club where Olivia's parents went, and the place where we would be saying our vows in just an hour. I ran out of the bathroom and straight to the ballroom, where I knew my wife-to-be was getting ready with her friends and family.

"Groom!" Someone shrieked when I ran in, and I was immediately swarmed by eight bridesmaids who were determined not to have me see Olivia.

"I need to talk to Olivia!" I yelled over the blabbering. "Now!"

Their faces all turned from laughing to shock at my yell, and I heard Olivia's voice through the silence.

"Yeah, he's stubborn. Let him come."

The gaggle of bridesmaids left me, parting down the center to reveal Olivia White, dressed in a beautiful white gown that fell to the ground, with a train that seemed to stretch for a mile behind her. She walked towards me carefully, rolling her eyes as she went.

"And what exactly was the last thing I said to you before you left the house?"

"'Do not, under any circumstances, look at me in my wedding dress.'" I repeated verbatim. "And I didn't follow that order."

"You don't listen to anything I say."

"I'm just preparing you for our marriage."

A small laugh escaped her as she walked close enough for me to put my arms around her. "What do you need?"

"I don't want to get married in front of the cameras. I don't want that to be the first time I see you in this dress, I don't want it to be staged. I want to have a real wedding, with you, the love of my life. I want to be able to tell our kids, 'Our wedding was beautiful and special'. I don't want it to be broadcasted in front of the whole world." I whispered into her hair, holding her to my chest. "I want to be with you."

"As sweet as that is," Olivia replied, pulling away from me, "It's also incredibly stupid. You're world-famous. My graduation was broadcasted on live television, and we weren't even engaged. This comes with the territory." She stood on her toes and planted a kiss on my lips, "But that doesn't mean it isn't special."

"How?"

Olivia shook her head, smiling slightly.

"This is our wedding. This is the day we're going to remember all our lives. We're going to be able to tell our kids that it was special, that it was incredible. Because all the people we love are going to be there. Sure, there will be millions of other people watching, who we don't love as much." She gave me a soft smile, the one that always made me want to kiss her, "But you'll be there, and I'll be there. And baby? That's all we need."

I reached out and took her in my arms, kissing her with as much force as I could without ruining her dress.

"This is why I'm marrying you." I whispered as we broke apart, "No one else knows what to say every single time I'm upset. But you do."

Olivia smiled at me, blushing slightly and turning her head away.

"Don't make me cry. I'll mess up my makeup."

"Yeah, don't you dare." Emma Flores, the maid of honor, came running over. "I will kill you, Carter. I swear."

"Whatever." I rolled my eyes, "Go find your date and kill him. He woke me up at 6:00 this morning."

"Good, he followed directions."

Olivia laughed as she began to push Emma away.

"I'll see you soon, babe."

"See you soon."

"Do you take Lincoln Carter to be your lawfully wedded husband, in sickness and in health, as long as you both shall live?"

"I do."

Olivia was breathtaking. She was stunning, gorgeous, mesmerizing...any adjective I could think of did nothing to describe her beauty. And when she looked up at me, I felt all of my fears wash away as if they were nothing.

"And Mr. Carter," The priest turned to me, "Do you take Olivia White to be your lawfully wedded wife, in sickness and in health, as long as you both shall live?"

I looked at her, the love of my life, my one true partner, and answered without hesitation.

"I do."

"Very well. I now pronounce you, rockstar and wife. You may kiss the bride."

I kissed her passionately as the crowd started cheering and the cameras started snapping away. I was married. I was married to Olivia White.

Olivia Carter, now.

"Did you tell him to say rockstar?" Olivia muttered as we broke away, smiling through gritted teeth.

"Maybe." I laughed, looking down at her.

"You're so lucky that I love you."

"That, I am." I winked before turning to the crowd in front of us, still holding her hand. I felt the cool metal of my new wedding band pressing against my fingers that were wrapped around hers.

Two drops of water fell to the ground in front of us as we both shed a single tear at the same time.

We had gone through so much to make it to this point.

But every tear, every fight, every broken heart, had been worth it.

"I love you." Olivia whispered as we started walking to greet people. I squeezed her hand in mine.

Completely, 100%, worth it.
