The First Turnabout

"Dammit...I can't let them find out it was me..."
The man disappeared from the apartment,leaving the dead woman lying on the floor.

Soon that murder would be solved by none of than the Ace Attorney.
Well,at this point,he was more of a semi-decent lawyer.Close enough.

What was his name,you ask?
Well,he went by Nicholas.
Nicholas Wright.
Sometimes Nick but we'll get to that later.

"Uh...yeah.I may or may not be nervous Wright now."Nicholas looked around."Ah,of course I made a pun..."
"Nicholas!"
He looked up,seeing Rin walk up to him."Oh,hey Rin."
"Are you ready?This is your first case,after all."Rin glanced down at him.He nodded."Yeah,I'm ready."
A loud wail came from nearby."Niiiiiiick!Nick,tell them I'm guilty!I'm definitely guilty!"Rin laughed a bit,turning her head to the wail."I'm guessing that's your client?"she asked."Yep...Yaleet,come over here!"
Yaleet ran over,grabbing Nicholas' coat."Emmy,they're gonna kill me!I'm gonna get the death sentence,aren't I!"
Nicholas sighed."Yaleet,calm down.The trial's starting soon,we gotta go,Rin."Nicholas stood up and followed Rin into the courtroom.

The trial had begun.
Nicholas and Rin on one side,and some guy with purple hair on the other.His name was Cain Payne.A strange name.In the middle sat the Judge,Futabe Reito.

"Hm,Mr.Wright?This is your first trial,correct?"she asked.Nicholas nodded."Yes,Your Honor."Futabe pursed her lips."In that case,I'll ask you a few questions before we start.What is the defendant's name?""Yaleet Butz,Your Honor.""And what is the victim's name?"Nicholas smirked.'I know this one,'he thought to himself.'It's...um...c'mon Nick,you should know this!'Rin sighed,looking over at me."Nicholas,try checking the court record.You did read it cover to cover,right?"

He nodded."It's...Nico Stone,Your Honor."Futabe nodded."And what is the cause of death?""Blunt force trauma to the head."
"Very well then.Now we may start.Mr.Payne,you may bring in your first witness."

Cain had called up Reid Sahwit."Mr.Sahwit,you may give your testimony."
"I was going door-to-door,doing my job as a security guard when I saw a woman fleeing an apartment.I thought she must be in a hurry because she left the door half-open behind her.Thinking it strange, I looked inside the apartment.Then I saw her lying there... A woman... not moving... dead!I quailed in fright and found myself unable to go inside.I thought to call the police immediately!However, the phone in her apartment wasn't working.I went to a nearby park and found a public phone.I remember the time exactly: it was 1:00 PM.The woman who ran was, without a doubt, the defendant sitting right over there."

Nicholas gulped.This wasn't looking good."Mr.Wright,you may begin your cross-examination."

After pressing a few statements,he had found the one that was suspicious.

'I remember the time exactly:it was 1:00 PM.' "OBJECTION!"

Nicholas stood straight,taking in a gulp of Kat-I mean air.Exhaling,he began to speak."Mr.Sahwit,you say the time was 1:00 PM.Yet the autopsy report says Ms.Stone died around 4 PM!"
Mr.Sahwit jumped."A-Ah,um...ah!I-I can explain!""Please do,Mr.Sahwit,"Futabe said.

"You see, when I found the body, I heard the time.There was a voice saying the time... It was probably coming from the television.Oh, but it was three hours off, wasn't it?I guess the victim must have been watching a video of a taped program!That's why I thought it was 1:00 PM!"

'It was probably coming from the television.' "OBJECTION!"
"Mr.Sahwit,there was a blackout on the day of the murder.There's no way you could hear the time from the television!"

"Gah!Y-You lawyers,with your evidence and-argh!I saw the time!"Mr.Sahwit was beginning to lose his cool.He had it in the bag.

"There wasn't a table clock in the apartment,Your Honor,"Cain reported."Then the witness is lying!"Nicholas turned to Futabe,standing tall."He wouldn't know the time unless he was in the apartment himself!Mr.Sahwit,you must have been holding the statue in your hands-and that leads me to believe that the statue is actually a clock,and when Mr.Sahwit hit Ms.Stone over the head with the clock,that's when he heard the time!"

Cain looked furious."And how do you expect us to believe that?The victim as in Paris the day before,so why did-gah!"Nicholas smirked."Exactly.Because the victim was in Paris and hadn't reset her clock,the clock wasn't three hours slow-it was nine hours fast!"

Mr.Sahwit yelped,shaking violently."G-Go on,you're saying I killed her?W-Well,I-I think that..that-!"He then passed out,falling backwards onto the floor.

Futabe cleared her throat,sighing."Order in the court!I believe it is time to pass the verdict."

There was much celebration to be done for the three of them."N-Nick,I..
I miss her!What am I gonna do without her?!"Yaleet sighed."Sh-She didn't care about me,did she..."

Rin shook her head,elbowing Nicholas."You know."
Nicholas pulled out The Thinker,showing it to Yaleet."She kept this with her when she went to Paris,despite it being such a heavy clock."

Yaleet smiled,hugging Nicholas."Y-Yeah..thanks."
Rin cleared her throat."Anyway,how about dinner tonight?My treat!"
