Writing to Music
What's your favorite Genre?
Are you more Easy Listening or Hard Rock? Country or Pop? Classic or Techno? R&B or Hip Hop? Musical soundtrack? No matter what music is bumping through your speakers it gets you in the mood to write the words you want.
I know that some people aren't that big on writing with music as they can find it distracting, but for me, it's a huge help! I can block away all the things happening around me and get me to focus on the page in front of me. Certain songs are also great for evoking emotions when you're writing a particular scene.
Here's a sneak peek at my current top Spotify tunes:
During my writing process, I like to put my playlist on shuffle. As you can probably tell, I listen to a variety of artists. Not only is it a great thing for me while writing, the lyrics gives me ideas for chapters and plots. If you are a reader of my books, most of them come from song titles/ lyrics. It also helps writer's block. When there are days of me stuck on the same sentence, I crank up my playlists to groove and dance to. It's a nice way to take a break and let loose for a moment.
'Let's Get These Teen Hearts Beating Faster' is a lyric from Panic At the Disco's song 'Lying Is The Most Fun A Girl Can Have Without Taking Her Clothes Off' inspired my teen romance novel.
'Hands All Over' inspired by Maroon 5's song for my new adult romance novel.
'Beautiful, Dirty, Rich' inspired by Lady Gaga music for my mystery/thriller novella.
