In Psychology, we learned about the Introvert/Extrovert debate, where some psychologists believe that this is a myth, while, others find that Introversion is quite real.

Research has shown that while, extroverts are greater in number, introverts are rare. I am not entirely sure whether it is comforting or terrifying, on one hand, we can be proud of being in the minority, on the other, there is the enigma of living in necessarily an extrovert's world.

If you are anything like me, that is to say, an introvert, you might find it awkward in the company of many or find yourself overthinking every bit of conversation you have had. I can wholly understand this notion. Also, I think you might have heard that it is better for you to be more social. This seems to be easily said, but it is a Herculean task with a mind that thinks too much about things that others might not even consider twice.

While being an introvert has its own perks, it will not do for us to miss out on meeting amazing people and opportunities just because we find conversations a bit daunting (all with good reason, I assure you).

So, this new year, I bring you reasons why Wattpad is an Introvert's safe haven, and how to find interact with amazing writers and readers here without feeling tired.

1. Talk When You Want: I think one of the best things about Wattpad is that you don't need to reply as soon as you read a message or a comment on your story or a club thread. No, you can fall back to your comfort zone, when you are actually feeling up to a conversation, instead of forcing yourself to talk. There are two advantages of this, you are not nagging yourself to talk and second, you are able to form proper replies, giving it a thought instead of coming up with one word responses (which happens to me a lot when I am forced in a conversation). 

2. Talk to Point: As an introvert, I have learned that I don't like discussing work and the weather, also known as, the small talk. For me, it is filled with awkward silences during which I start to doubt my capability to form words. Wattpad has an advantage where you don't need to ask about trivial things before getting to the point. If you read something you love, you just need to say hi and put up that sentiment in the comment section. And if you want to discuss something in the Clubs, just comment your point on the previous discussion and you know what is the most amazing thing? You will get on point replies. This makes making the first move (a daunting task for an introvert) so much easier.

3. Put up Your Word: Okay, I often like to describe the introvert minds as too many ideas in mind, but none coming out. I think with what is going on in the world, we need to put out our ideas there. Every voice matters, especially, of those who are determined to reflect on the various aspects of the world. Wattpad lets you put out your word, and it need not be in the form of Fiction. It can be poetry, non fiction and even random thoughts. The first step of navigating through Wattpad is just putting your word out there. There are so many avid readers out there from different sections of the world, without doubt you'll have listeners. 

4. Read and Write to Your Heart's Delight: Read and Write to your heart's desire. That is the purpose of the whole website. From an introvert's perspective, you are getting heard, which is something rare and secondly, you don't actually need to leave the safe haven of your bedroom. Besides, you choose who to interact with. So, read, my dear fellow. And comment here and then, I am pretty sure the awesome people will make you interact with others. For writers, reply to the comments you receive, you'd be amazed how well the readers understand your characters and surprised how much they reflect over your words.

So, my dear fellow introverts I hope I have helped you realize and re-insure the fact that Wattpad is your safe haven, and get to reading and writing.

Extroverts, I hope you empathize, and realize that we are not so different after all.
