Editor's Letter
Hello, and welcome to our second issue of Wattmag!
Our first issue was a real success and now we've finally built our team of writers who will be featured in here monthly! Thank you to everyone who applied and if you didn't get in/didn't apply in time, don't worry! You can still be featured in our mag! We are always looking for guest articles to put in our issues eg, Articles, personal experiences, short stories ect. Basically, we'll accept anything as long as it's written well and it's reading/writing/Wattpad related. Just make sure it's around 500-3000 words. Email your submission to: wattmagmagazine(at)gmail.com
We also now have a website: wattmag.blogspot.com where some of our articles will also go and a twitter so go check us out!
This month is looking very exciting with a bunch of cool stuff happening on and off Wattpad.
First off, if you've looked at our cover image, you'll know that this issue is all about villains! Harley Quinn is one of the many villains featured in the DC film Suicide Squad which hits theaters this month. In this issue, we'll explore evil characters a little closer and talk about some of our favorite, what makes them villains and how some have managed to redeem themselves with good acts - or continue down their destructive path.
We have some great articles that talk about writing an evil character and we even get a little deep and find out what exactly makes a villain, a villain. If I had to pick a favorite evil character, I'd probably go with Darth Vader considering I'm a HUGE Star Wars fan. But I also think that Cameron Monaghan did a pretty neat job playing the Joker in Gotham.
(Okay, and maybe I have a thing for him. Sue me.)
Villains are soooo vital to stories - whether they're an evil dude sitting in his lab, plotting deaths or just that mean girl cheerleader chick making life a living hell for your main character. They help your character grow and create conflict that we can't help but enjoy reading. At the end of the day, don't we love them? What would Harry Potter be without Voldemort? What would The Hunger Games be without President Snow? ...Probably much happier stories filled with less death, but shh! That's not why we're here. My point is, they make stories what they are and for that, we love them.
On Wattpad this month, we have the very exciting event of 'The Wattpad Block Party' beginning. It features some of Wattpad best and upcoming authors! I was lucky enough to be featured in it myself as well as many of our other awesome writers: ShaunAllan, jule009, LeighWStuart, IngridAncona, ArshiDokadia, Lucyface, willwrite4tacos, gabycabezut, KevinaOyatedor and tamoja. Please be sure to check out our posts as well as all the others in there! For more info on what the Block Party actually is and what to expect, you can read an article in here where we interview it's creator KellyAnneblount!
In more serious news, we also have an article called 'Law & Order' which touches on the discrimination and unfair treatment of black lives due to recent events in the news. Our hearts go out to all the families of victims of police brutality and also the lives lost in the Dallas shooting. The world has a lot of improving to do, and the first step is to end racism. If you see or hear anyone in your life being discriminative, always speak up. Don't let the racial inequality continue.
In this issue, we also interview AnneLutz, Wattpad author of the well-known book 'Sink or Swim', along with many other titles. This month, Anne is self-publishing a few of her books so be sure to check out her interview and find out how to get your hands on them! Anne is my self-publishing buddy and I couldn't be prouder of her achievement! ♥♥♥
Anyway, I hope you enjoy this issue and all its content! We all had a fun time writing it and putting it together. Please leave comments on the articles, letting our writers know what you think of their content as well as votes! They help us out a heap and let us know that you enjoy the content.
Till next month,
