OMG I HAVE A BOOK DEAL!

Okay so it's been a week and a bit since I announced this. But for those of you that would like to hear a little more about this, I'm going to talk about my book deal.

I had to wait a verrrry long time to announce this (over TEN months) and I ended up dropping a lot of annoying, cryptic hints. Like at NYC Wattcon on stage, where I so kindly just hinted at "big news" in the future (trust me, I was screaming on the inside).

So a little about the book: It's a gothic middle grade book, with a very Tim Burton-meets-Dr. Who-episode type feel to it, about a girl who paints portraits that come to life and ATTEMPT TO SUCK YOUR SOUL OUT. Oops.

The book is called THE STRANGE AND DEADLY PORTRAITS OF BRYONY GRAY. And Tundra Books is publishing it, which is an imprint of Penguin Random House. By all accounts it should be coming out next year, in February. And YES, thank the Great Furry Panda in the Sky, this book is going to be ON SHELVES. So like, I still find it hard to wrap my mind around this, but, dear reader, you're going to be able to walk into any bookstore in North America and SEE MY BOOK.

I will be doing a few more videos about how I GOT this book deal (ie, how looooong it took, you guys, like 10 years of writing) over on the YA Word Nerds Youtube channel, as well as this very WattBlog. 

Also I'll share about the actual process of publishing whenever I can. IE, how pee-your-pants-scary the editing process was for me, (but how it all has turned out fine because my editor doesn't ACTUALLY live off writer tears to survive) and how I am now currently finishing up a third (smaller) round of edits and about to move onto something called COPY EDITS. I'm still figuring all of this out, guys. 

I can't wait until I get the green light to share my cover with you guys because it is GOING TO BE AWESOME.
