An Update - AKA, What the Heck is Going on?

October 18th 2019

Happy Halloween/October, Wattpeeps!

It's been very busy this month, and both stressful and exciting, as I get ready for the release of Witches of Ash and Ruin at the beginning of next year. It's surreal to think you'll walk into a bookstore and see my name on the shelf. I had some of that with The Strange and Deadly Portraits of Bryony Gray, but...I have a strong feeling it won't be the same this time around.

Disney is gearing up to go all out for my spoopy gang of witches, and the cover is so breathtaking and in-you-face, it's going to be crazy. I'm told galley copies are on their way to me, so the next few days are just going to be me repeatedly checking the mailbox. =)

In the meantime, I'm getting a lot of the same question, so I wanted to finally "formally" address it.

A few updates about what the heck is going on with the Frost Series/Jotun Chronicles.

SO *deep breath* I'm going to be completely open and transparent with you guys and hope you don't hate me for it.

The Frost series was really important to me. It was something I spent many happy hours pouring over while I was locked away in my house after moving to Grande Prairie, and it pretty much saved me from going out of my ever-loving mind (not joking). It was a kind of haven to retreat to when I was overcome by how much I did NOT belong in that city, and it meant a lot to me (and still does in many ways).

That said, it was something I wrote...well, literal years ago. When I first joined Wattpad.

And now, many years later, like most writers, I find myself looking back on old writing and it makes me cringe... just a little bit. Okay a lot bit. And the published versions, up on Amazon, weren't a whole lot better.

And while they weren't expensive for readers to buy, I also didn't feel good having them out there as "real books" so to speak. They were something that, while I love, I'm not 100 percent proud to fling out to the public and say "Here's my best work".  So I found myself just...really unhappy that they were still up there.

I had a chat with my agent, and she suggested I take them down. Not off Wattpad, mind you, but at least take them down from where they're up for sale. So no, you cannot buy Frost, Fire or Flood anywhere. But you can read them for free here on Wattpad.

And honestly, I do still love them. If not the writing, then the characters, and the worlds (the way I imagined them at the time). And who am I kidding, I loved EVERY second of writing Loki.

So for now, the Jotun Chronicles is here on Wattpad for you guys to enjoy for free. That's where the world was dreamed into existence, and that's where it will stay.

And who knows, maybe someday I'll revisit the ice castle, and the fiery realms of Muspelheim. Maybe I'll rework the original story, or re-population the lands with new and interesting characters for you guys to meet. As far as I'm concerned, nothing is off the table.

And until then, I hope that if you guys walk into a bookstore and you see Witches of Ash and Ruin on the shelf, that you'll give these new characters a chance. That you'll fall into this world of Irish mythology, and new and exciting gods and heroes.

Thanks for reading, and happy Halloween, you guys! =)
