009. those who know him.
⸻ "SEMI, IS SOMETHING WRONG?" was the question that made semi eita's head snap up from his drink with wide brown eyes and a confused expression.
"what was that?" he questioned, staring at his girlfriend who sat across from him at the outdoor table that belonged to the cute little cafe they hung out at together occasionally.
[name] stared at semi, letting out a soft sigh as she trailed her finger around the coffee cup. she held a small frown on her face, the frown originating from the concern that her boyfriend was upset or bored by her.
"i asked if something is wrong," she repeated softly, her palm moving to the side of her cheek as her head turned to the side slowly.
he stared for a moment, watching as she looked away sadly and traced the edges of her cup. was it obvious that something was bothering him?
semi's hand fell to the back of his neck, looking down at the table, "n-no, i'm just a little tired."
[name] looked back up at him, a blank expression on her face that made chills creep up her boyfriend's spine. as much as [name] loved her boyfriend, she hated lies more than anything. she especially hated when semi lied.
"semi, you know you can tell me if somethings wrong. there's no need to lie about it," she reassured with a huff, crossing her arms.
"i-i know, b-"
"if it's something you don't want to talk about, it's okay," [name] mumbled, picking up the cup and bringing it to her lips, "i'm not going to force you."
the ashe blonde couldn't help but feel guilty. he couldn't help but feel guilty for hiding how he felt. [name] was his girlfriend, he should be able to tell her anything, he should be able to confide in her about how he feels without her being upset by it.
semi sighed, why did he even doubt that [name] wouldn't get upset with him? she wasn't like that; she was gentle, kind, understanding.
"i just-" he sighed once again, cutting himself off as [name]'s blank expression turned into concern, "i've just been wondering about how close you and that oikawa guy have been getting."
her eyes shot wide open at semi's response, her chest heaving at the idea of her boyfriend getting worried over some guy she's been helping over the summer.
"oikawa? what do you mean?"
semi sighed, running his hands through his ash blonde locks awkwardly. he knew his girlfriend was a bit dense and oblivious, but he didn't realize she was completely unaware to the obvious looks and signs oikawa had given her.
but, that was good, in his eyes. that meant oikawa hadn't confessed, that oikawa hadn't stepped out of line.
"well, he does have a reputation, [name]," he stated, dark brown eyes staring into her [eye color] ones with a serious expression, "you know, with flirting with girls and stuff?"
[name] rolled her eyes, crossing her arms once again, "everyone has reputations, semi, but he's completely different from what you're saying! maybe that was the past, but you can't judge someone based on who they were before!"
semi eita hated that about [last name] [name]. he hated how optimistic she was, he hated how she always looked for the good in everyone, and he hated that she ignored the past and the reputations of everyone when others told her to stay away.
but, that's what made her so special to him.
"i-i'm just saying," he stammered out, hands falling to the metal table with flower designs carved into it, "if he makes any moves on you, i don't want you to-"
"do you really think i'm like that?"
his mouth shut, staring at the young woman who was looking back at the street, watching the cars pass by instead of looking at him with admiration like she usually would. he could tell she was upset by what he was implying, he could tell that what he said was probably the one thing he shouldn't have even thought of.
once again, semi eita felt guilty.
a painful guilt that sat at the bottom of his throat, piling up, making it hard for him to breathe unless it was cleared out. a guilt that semi didn't think would hurt so so much.
"i didn't mean it that way," he mumbled, face digging into his palms.
"look," she grumbled out, her [eye color] hues still fixed onto the passing cars and people crossing the streets, "i understand that you don't want to lose me, because i never want to lose you, and i can understand the jealousy of seeing me hang around another guy- especially when i've felt the same when you hang out with other girls."
her head slowly turned to face him, watching as he slowly peaked from his palms and was greeted by [name], with tears at the side of her eyes.
"but i would never leave you," she whimpered out, "so you have to trust me to have male friends, because it wouldn't be fair if i couldn't!"
it was silent after that, and for that moment of silence- semi eita could slowly feel his worries wash away. he could feel himself come back to his senses one by one, he could feel himself believe that what he feared wasn't going to happened- ever.
but, the doubt and the guilt still lumped his throat. the possibility was still in his head.
semi eita couldn't help but feel like their relationship wouldn't last as long as they both believed in that moment of silence.
