The hill.
Life is like a monstrous hill with no top in sight,
So You run, and run and run towards the light.
Everyone else seems to reach what you cannot even see,
We are given the directions and we chase them desperately
Ahead you start to loose sight of all else in the race
Half as fast and twice as hard you fail to keep their pace.
Moulded as we go by loves fears and hates,
And you realise you are running on roller skates.
Suddenly alone on a path you didn't choose
The world is dark and the guiding light is lost
And in finding it, it is yourself you risk to loose
And is the goal worth the cost?
The burden on you feet, you struggle with each bound.
The injustice that you are the only bearer is profound.
Bitterness fuels you, and with new rigour
even as that dastardly hill seems to get bigger,
You keep on moving, determination growing at each fall
And climb the beast, roller skates and all.
The summit is close, You finally see what the hill has to hide,
And low and behold, there's mountain on the other side.
But for this new journey you do not fret
For you can never forget.
What you learnt on the hill that you could never hate.
So you set off again, still on roller skates.
