I sighed, rubbing my eyes when I looked in the mirror, seeing bright purple eyes, and messy black bed head. Today was my first day in high school, and I wasn't too excited for this. I was enrolled into Iwotobi High School, and it occurred to me that I won't get any friends this year, but probably. I sighed and got into the bathtub, in my swimsuit. Whenever I was near a water source, I had an urge to strip, but since nobody cared, I usually did it anyway, even if I wasn't supposed to.

I sinked into the water, being engulfed by it. I woke up early this morning, and I was planning to leave at 7 o'clock on the dot, so I could get there by 7:30. I ran a hand through my hair, leaning my head against the railing of the tub. I haven't been able to swim all winter, and it bummed me out that I couldn't swim at all. I heard my mother and I sighed, getting up out of the bath and got dressed into my normal clothing, packing my swimsuit into my bag just in case.

I ran a brush through my very short hair, and jogged out of the house with my lunch and backpack. "Bye mom, I'll be back after school." I said and my mother yelled, "Have a great day, and try to make friends, ok?!" I sighed and nodded, jogging to school. I didn't bother to wear the girls uniform, since I hated skirts and dresses, so I wore a pair of jeans and a white button up shirt with a black sweater, so the school wouldn't complain about me not wearing the uniform they sent me. I sighed and saw a boy with black hair and crystal blue eyes with another boy that had brown hair and emerald green eyes, walking the same direction I was heading to. I looked back forward, and collided to a chest.

"Hey, watch where you're going!" I sighed irritatingly after I said this, and rubbed my forehead where I got hit, and looked up to see a boy with shark-like teeth. "Oh, sorry, dude. I guess I wasn't looking..." I sighed and walked away, starting to jog once again, looking at my watch. I scowled a bit and jogged a bit faster, panting quietly. I made it to the time I wanted to be there and went to the class I was supposed to, before a girl stopped me. "Hi, I'm Gou, what's your name?" I blinked and raised a brow, then sighed, saying quietly, "My name's Ryutsuki. Now, can I go to class?"

The girl blinked in surprise and said, "Oh, I thought you were a boy, but, it's nice to meet you! Do you want to be friends?" I looked down at her and tsked, saying, "You have to try harder than that to get my trust, Glee." I usually didn't say people's names until they have earned my trust, and I walked into the classroom, and she seemed astonished and smiled, following me. I sat down by the far window, close enough to the board where I wasn't in the front, but Glee wanted to sit next to me apparently. "Do you mind if I sit next to you, Ryu?"

I blinked at the sudden nickname and sighed, shaking my head. "You have the freedom to sit anywhere, why should I stop you?" I looked out the window, looking up at the sky. This year, we were able to choose a club that we wanted to join, and I joined the art club, since there wasn't a swim team that I was would love to be on. I sighed and got out a pad of paper and started drawing a bird's shadow above water, that had a Basking Shark in the middle of it, to be certain, I loved Basking Shark's. They were beautiful, silent creatures, I had a burning passion on to draw them, I even had a great amount of drawings of Basking Sharks in my room!

I sighed and finished the drawing right before class started, and Glee started at the drawing in awe. "You're a really good artist, Ryu! How long have you had this talent?" I sighed again and said, "I've had it since the beginning of middle school, now can you leave me alone?" I sighed and looked towards the board, putting away my drawing pad and got out a notebook, ready to take notes.

(Small Time-Skip To Lunch and Break!)

I walked up to the rooftop with my lunch, sitting near the edge of the railing, unfolding the cloth that tied my lunch together. I usually made my lunches, since my mother was always busy with work, which means I had to cook dinner also. I was a great cook, so it didn't bother me. I made myself Origiri today, along with sushi, so I was quite content with my lunch, I had to fight the urge to eat it when I was making it. Wow, I did quite the job on making my lunch today, I even made the sushi taste better, I should probably consider going to a competition with this.

I rolled my eyes at my silliness, and continued eating, hearing footsteps coming close to the area I was sitting at. "Hey, Ryu, do you mind if Chigusa and I sit here?" I looked up, having an Origiri in my mouth, looking up at the one person that bothered to talk to me, Glee, with a girl who was looking at me in disgust. I have a nickname for you. Bitch. I ate the rest of my Origiri and said, "No, this is the only time I have to be alone, and plus, that girl doesn't look to happy to be here, so you guys should go."

I looked down and took another bite of my lunch, and I heard a scoff from Bitch. I rolled my eyes and the two walked away from me. Great, you pushed away another person, great job, Ryutsuki. I sighed and shook my head, and continued to eat my lunch, and then headed back to class.

(Time-Skip to The End of The School Day)

I headed to the TISC Indoor Swimming Pool, and saw Gorou with some boys, two of them I recognized, and the other one I didn't. I walked in, signing in with the lady at the desk and waved to her, and then said, "Hey, Gorou. Had a good winter?" He faced his attention to me and smiled brightly. "Ah, Ryu, you came to swim didn't you?" I nodded and the three boy's left, and I went to the girl's locker rooms, changing into my skin tight tank top and trunks.
I grabbed my goggles and swim cap, and went to the pool, seeing it's been taken care of over the winter. I put my goggles on my head then my cap, putting the goggle on and I crouched down, thinking of doing some laps of transitioning from freestyle, to breaststroke, to butterfly, then lastly, backstroke. I then asked aloud, so Gorou could here me, "Is anyone here besides you, Gorou?" He shook his head, waking into the pool area. "Nope! Those three were part of a team, ya' know?

I sighed, and shook my head, jumping off of the board and into the water. I swam fast, and as hard as I could, but I paced myself so I could do the four laps I was planning to do. Gorou was timing me for each one that I did, and I got good times on all of them. I floated on top of the water, and closed my eyes. When I was swimming, I saw darkness, and then a Basking Shark. It was beautiful, even though it was my imagination, but, sometimes, when I do image it, it makes a burning passion become inside of me, and I swim faster, and stronger.

I got out of the water and Gorou said, "Are you sure there isn't a swim club at Iwotobi High? It would be a great thing if you were on the team!" I sighed and shook my head. "I wish, but there isn't, unfortunately. But, we'll see later on." When I heard footsteps at the viewing area, I turned quickly towards the noise, and saw Glee. "Glee...?" I ran towards the exiting area of the viewing post, and stopped Glee.

"Glee, why are you here? Did you see anything?" She smiled a soft smile and said, "I saw everything. You're a great swimmer, a great build for swimming too! Goodbye for now!" She waved, and I saw the shark-like toothed boy at the entrance way of the building, and I scowled, waking back to the locker rooms and changed.

(Time-Skip to The Day Where They Establish A Swimming Team!)

I sighed and looked down at my math book, writing some things down on a sheet of paper for homework. I heard footsteps and looked up, seeing Gou. Gou has recently earned my trust, and she has learned some things about me, me doing the same about her. She hasn't seen me smile yet, or laugh, so she's still stumped on what to do. Gou stopped in front of me and said, "Hey, did you know, that these three boy's just started a swim club, and guess what, I'm their coach!"

My eyes widened in surprise and I said, "Really? Wow, that's great!" I nodded and got up from my spot on the ground of the roof, and I showed a very small smile in happiness. Gou looked surprised, but she smiled and nodded. "Yeah, you should totally join, since you obviously have the skills to!" I rubbed the back of my head and sighed, my smile fading away quickly.

"I don't think the art club would want to loose me though..." I looked down, and put my hands into my pockets. "And, why would a swim team want a girl on their team? They probably think I'm wouldn't be of much use, but I'm glad they have the pool up and running now." Gou sighed exsaperatedly and stomped her foot on the ground. "Why do you have to be such a downer...? Well, I'm going now, bye!" I waved and packed my things up, since it was still break, I thought I could maybe run a few laps around the pool, just maybe.

I did have my swimsuit with me, so why not? I went down to the pool, and my eyes sparkled at the beautiful way the pool sparkled. I went to the locker room and changed into my swimsuit, and grabbed my cap and goggles, putting them on and went to the pool, diving into it quickly. I did my transitioning, the regular transition of it. I kept going, imaging the Basking Shark again, and went faster, harder, stronger. When I finished my laps, I heard clapping, and I widened my eyes, seeing three boy's, and Gou. "G-Gou, who are these people?!"

Gou smiled nervously and said, "Ryu, this is Haruka, Makoto and Nagisa! I kind of told them that you were perfectly capable for being on the team, and I told them you'd more than likely be here..." I sighed angrily and said, "Well, let's get this over with. Hello, my name is Ryutsuki Yamamoto, now, I'm going to have to give you nicknames." Gou smiled and said nervously, "She has a hard time trusting people, so she has people race for her trusts, if it's a big group, but she had me race for it, and I won!" I hummed to myself and said, "Now, whoever's name slips off my tongue first, wins, now, I think you will be called Dolphin." I pointed to Haruka.

I then pointed to Makoto, and said, "Your named will be Orca. And last but not least," I point to Nagisa. "Your name is Penguin." Everyone blinked, except for Gou, and she said, "She called me Glee, don't worry about it." I got out of the water, and headed back to class after drying myself in my swimsuit and slipped on my clothes. "Later." I waved and walked away. I walked back to class and the day went back to being taught.

(Time-Skip to When She Gets Home)

I sighed and put my homework up, and started making mom and I some dinner, right before I got to the kitchen, I heard a knock at my door, an did sighed again, going to the door. "Coming, coming." I opened the door, and saw Gou, Shark Tooth Gou's brother, Orca, Dolphin, and Penguin. "Oh, eh. Um, would you guys like to come in? I was making dinner, so I guess you five can stay over for it since you're here, my mother would be so happy to see you." They nodded and I walked back to the kitchen and pointed to my right. "Gou, go take them to the living room, ok? I'll be done in a little bit."

Instead of Dolphin following them he asked, "Do you mind if I cook with you?" I blinked and said, "If you want, but you don't have too, Dolphin." "Haru." "Dolphin." I sighed and rolled my eyes, walking to the kitchen with Dolphin behind me.

"Grab an apron, we're going to make some crab, mackerel, Origiri, and sushi." His eye's sparkled at the word mackerel, and I sighed, getting everything prepped, and started cooking, with Dolphin along. In half an hour, we were done. If I did that by myself, it would've been an hour until it was done. "Thank you, Dolphin." I walked in with the plates of food and seven plates, my mother in the room, talking to the others.

I sighed and said, "Here you go, with Dolphin's help, I was able to get this cooked faster than usual, so enjoy." My mother smiled and said, "Thank you, so what's your real name, 'Dolphin'?" Mom puts quotes around those words as she says dolphin, knowing that I named him that instead of calling him his real name. I sat down by my mother and grabbed some of the food, starting to eat quietly. "Haruka." She nodded and smiled.

"I've already met Rin, Makoto and Nagisa, and you have quite the nicknames for them, sweetie." I nodded and kept eating, everyone else started eating too. Everyone else was happily talking, but I kept quiet, not pitching in on the conversation at hand. "So, Ryu, I was just asking, would you like to join the swim club?" I looked up, seeing that Penguin was talking to me and I said, "I'll think about it. Sometimes, I just have too much to think about, but I'm going to put this as my main objective."

I looked back down and continued eating. And that's how all this mess has started, all on this one day...
