Chapter Two
"You're finally awake," a voice said from beside you.
You take your gaze away from your ceiling and turn your head to see none other than Diluc Ragnvindr himself sitting in a chair by your bedside.
His arms crossed over his chest, as he wore a basic cotton white shirt and pants, his hair tossed into a messy high ponytail as the glasses he once had resting on his nose sat now on the top of his head.
You opened your mouth to speak, before closing it, looking away from Diluc's strong gaze at you.
"Hey," he said as he leaned forward a bit, catching your attention again. His face remained neutral the whole time, unshifting. "I wasn't done speaking with you yet, miss-"
"Y/n... It's Miss Y/n," you croaked out with a nod of your head, taking notes of the sound as you spoke. Seems you were perhaps out for a while.
"I see, I figured you looked familiar," Diluc said as he leaned back into his chair, propping his elbow on the nightstand to rest his head in his hand. Tilting it to the side as he took off his glasses and stuffing them into his shirt pocket. "Then tell me this, Miss Y/n what exactly brought you, injured and in complete shambles, to my house on that cold rainy day?"
"How long ago was that?," you asked, seemingly moving your sleepy limbs under the covers, holding to the blanket underneath so it shouldn't be taken away.
"Three days ago," he answers, his fingers tapping on the nightstand slowly.
You nod.
"I'm sorry to have troubled you, but Mr. Ragnvindr-"
"Diluc, just Diluc is fine," he says pinching the bridge of his nose with a sigh, before he stood up, making his way to the door.
"Don't you want to know why I showed up?," you questioned, now confused by why he was already leaving.
"I would, but you just woken up and should have a meal.... Your voice sounds like a frog," he says as he opens the door, and takes a step out, glancing over his shoulder as he looks back at you. "I'll see you in my office tomorrow morning, but for now... Please rest Miss Y/n."
Diluc then strides out the door, closing it softly behind him, you hear him barely from your bed seemingly speaking to his staff.
You turn to your side, facing the window beside your bed as you glance out toward the now bright blue skies.
"It's no longer raining.... That's good," you say quietly out loud to yourself, curling into a ball. A tear makes its way down your face, as you try to push the distant terrors of three days ago in the back of your mind.
Sleep again took over you, and it wasn't long till the reliving nightmares appeared along with them....
Along with the fire.
