|Mumbo|
It had been a few days since they let me and Gri go to our homes. They advised that we stay together or near each other, so we decided that we were going to stay in Gri's hobbit hole as it was the bigger one of our two homes.
I would go over to my hobbit hole to get resources or to tinker with some Redstone as I knew Gri wouldn't like if his house had Redstone dust everywhere. I was just tinkering when my vision went purple and it looked like I was in a big room. I was looking around trying to see anything other than the constant purples and I saw them. The same things that came hear me last time I was in this sort of purple area.
I tried not to freak out but then there was a flash of light. I started freaking out and was panicking. Then I saw a little orb in front of me, glowing a warm white. I felt compelled to touch it like it was pulling me towards it. I obliged and ran my hand over it, everything going black.
~~~~~~~~
I jumped up. I looked around my bedroom.
Everything was fine.
A nightmare had been ruining my sleep pattern for the past few weeks. I needed to take my mind off what I had witnessed in my unconscious state. I got out of my bed and put on my suit coat. I looked out the top of my base. The stary night sky looked beautiful. Fireflies danced with the stars, to the point where I couldn't tell the difference.
I snapped out of my state of dreaming and walked to my portal. I may be tired, but I needed to get a few things done today. I found the shopping district portal and stepped through. It was still early. I normally got up a lot later. It was around 4 am. I let out a light yawn and walked throughout the shopping district, seeing the new shops and looking for the Redstone shop. I rubbed my eyes and walked into Cherry with my diamonds.
"Mumbo!"
I jumped at the sound of someone calling my name. I turned around to see Iskall running at me.
"Oh..Hey Iskall. Why are you up this early?"
"I could ask You the same thing!"
"Oh sorry, let me rephrase. Why are you happy to be up this early."
I had a hint of anger in my voice. I didn't even notice. Iskall did.
"I..uh...see you."
Iskall ran out of the shop. I scoffed and got back to shopping. I didn't care right now. It was only 4 am and I was already having a bad day. I walked out of the shop with a shulker box filled with Redstone. The sun was starting to rise, making me wonder how long I was in the shop. The fresh summer air filled the shopping district as the sun glistened on the shops, making them shine in the morning light. I rubbed my eyes and decided to take a look around at the new shops. I looked down at a clock that I had found in my inventory.
6:27
I shook my head. Had I been just standing in the Redstone shop for 2 hours? That just didn't sound right. I looked at a tiny cart on the side of the path. I climbed onto one of the seats positioned at the front of the cart and looked through its supply. Gravel and sand. Two things I was in desperate need of. I pulled out a shulker box that had held my rare items and looked through it. Nothing was inside. "What?! Ugh!"
I scoffed at the sight of my empty shulker box. I didn't spend all of my diamonds on Redstone. I made sure of it. This day was just getting worse. I put on my elytra and flew up to the portal. I could just go to a desert and get sand myself. I walked through the roof of the nether staring off into space before bumping into someone.
"Oi, watch where you're going!"
"Mumbo? Are you feeling okay?"
Grian turned around and looked at me, who looked sickly. I pinched the bridge of my nose and groaned.
"I'm fine. Just a headache."
I had a hint of anger in his voice. Grian frowned.
"Do you mind if I help you?"
"Why would I need your help?"
"well...I don't have anything going on today, and maybe I could help with your megabase."
"Fine. Whatever."
I swiftly moved towards my portal. I didn't take a second glance at Grian, who was in his phone texting Iskall and Xisuma.
~~•~~
"Why do you keep looking at me like that."
"Oh..it's nothing."
I handed Grian a shulker box filled with all sorts of concrete. I pulled out a pickaxe and started heading to my megabase. Grian quickly followed behind me. I rolled my eyes and quickly got to work. I worked swiftly and quietly. My head was pounding. It felt like someone had cracked my skull open. Grian on the other hand was quite talkative. He smiled and tried to copy what I was doing, but failed miserably. He started to talk my ear off. I was just about done.
"So Mumbo, I have a ton of sand and gravel at my base, I can get it and give it to you for your-"
"DO YOU EVER SHUT UP!?!"
Grian fell backward. They were standing on top of the diagonal pillar, if he made one wrong step, Grian could fall to his death. The wind was blowing past my ears. I scoffed and turned back to my work like nothing happened.
"Just leave."
"Mumbo..I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to-"
"I SAID GO!"
~~•~~
"Grian!"
I ran over to the three before Iskall moved in front of the two. Tears started to form in Grian's eyes, but he quickly wiped them away.
"Iskall, I need to talk to Grian."
Iskall didn't budge. He held still, staring me down.
"Grian..I-"
"You're right Mumbo."
Grian stood up and wiped away his tears.
"Sometimes I do need to shut up, and that time is right now."
Grian shoved past me and went up to the top part of his base. He changed into new clothes and went back down, still ignoring me.
"Let's go."
Grian put on his elytra and Xisuma and Iskall quickly followed, leaving me in the darkness of Grian's base. I held back tears. I was the worst friend ever.
Blood warning
"Iskall! We're here! What's wrong?!?"
Iskall had tears in their eyes. They were in Iskalls desert base, blood had stained the sandstone around them. Grian and I ran over to Iskall and started to comfort them. They had stained blood on their shirt, and a large cut was on the side of their cheek. Blood gushed out of it, but Iskall's tears countered the blood rushing down their face. Iskall was gasping for breath, and they couldn't speak.
"Iskall, take a deep breath. Are you okay? What happened."
"Xisuma..."
They pointed to a corner where a limp body was laying in a puddle of blood. Cuts were all over his body, ripping his clothes. His helmet was still on surprisingly, although the glass in the front of it was shattered. Grian ran over to Xisuma's body. Grian turned him over and lightly gasped. Xisuma's face was worse. It looked like he was slammed against a rock multiple times, and blood dripped out of a large cut on his forehead. He wasn't breathing. Tears formed on the ends of Grian's eyes. I helped Iskall over, and they started to cry even harder. Grian wiped away the tears and stood up.
"Who..who did This."
"I don't know. They wore a mask and large cloak. I fought them..but they slammed me against the wall. I couldn't move...I had to watch had he mercilessly stabbed Xisuma. He didn't seem to care for me, just tossing me aside...and then he just ran off.."
"But wouldn't he respawn?"
"That's why I called you here..he hasn't respawned and I'm starting to worry.."
"Guys..?"
Grian turned around and saw Xisuma. He was almost see-through, transparent. Not to mention he was floating two inches of the ground. His voice was quiet and shaky. Grian looked at me and Iskall, who were both as confused as he was.
"Xisuma?! What happened?"
"I don't know..I can't respawn. Some force is stopping me. Not to mention I don't have any of my admin powers. I can't get out of spectator mode. Whoever or whatever killed me, it has a strange force that is preventing me from doing..anything.."
"We can fix this, right?"
"I...I don't know.."
Grian, Iskall, and I all shared a look. Xisuma landed on the ground and walked over to his body. He looked down at his mangled face and sighed. He reached out, trying to touch it, but his hand went through his mangled body. Xisuma sat down on the ground. He was normally calm during things like this, but he couldn't hold in the pain he was feeling. He quietly sobbed for a bit, with Grian, iskall, and I sitting next to Ghost-suma. We all sat in silence. I was the first to speak.
"What...do we do with your body."
"I guess...bury it..it doesn't matter..nothing does anymore."
Xisuma got up and sighed. He looked at us three, still on the ground.
"I'll...be at my base... Bury me somewhere nice, will ya?"
Grian slowly nodded and Xisuma floated away. Whatever happened to him, it could happen again. This wasn't good.
~~•~~
I sealed the hole with dirt. We had found an empty flower biome nearby and we had made a small tombstone for Xisuma. Grian finished carving his name on the rock, taking a step back. We three stood in silence. Grian was the first to move. He wiped a tear and grabbed a few flowers, tying them into a crown. He placed it on the rock before walking away. I and Iskall followed him back to the shopping district. We didn't speak. Grian took a glance behind him, realizing that Iskall was crying again. He was normally a very happy, lighthearted person. Seeing Iskall like this hurt Grian. He turned around to face his friends.
"Look, we can fix this. Xisuma is still here. At least he's not completely gone."
I held my head before nodding in agreement.
"I gotta go guys...I'm not feeling to well."
I put on my elytra and blasted off into the sky. Grian walked over and comforted Iskall, who was still on edge.
I slowly rolled out of bed. I hadn't been feeling well lately and I had symptoms like nausea and headaches. This headache was worse than all of the other headaches I'd had in the past few weeks. Anytime I had a headache, I would blackout and wake up somewhere else. I was starting to get stressed at what was happening to me.
I looked up at the sun beaming down at me. I raised my arm to block the sun's rays. I was getting concrete to finish a part of my base.
My world began to spin. I got on my knees to prevent falling.
It was just the heat
It was just the heat
It was just the he-
I looked up and around the room. The shadows danced on the walls, consuming my world completely. They entered my mind, causing me to yell out in pain and fall on the ground. Someone was touching me. I opened my eyes. I managed to see one thing. A glass shard. I grabbed it and slashed at what had tried to grab me. My whole world was filled with coldness and dark shadows. I managed to stand up and wave the shard around, not knowing where, or what had attacked me. I was scared, fearing for my life. I heard someone scream my name. I raised the glass shard. Their voice was near me, I could kill them, and end my torment. I tried to strike at them, but my arm wouldn't move. Something held me back. Tears started to form in my eyes. The darkness started to hurt. I started to cough, I couldn't breathe. I fell to the ground crying.
"MUMBO SNAP OUT OF IT!"
I opened my eyes, only to find that my world of darkness was gone, and the light had returned to my eyes. Joe and False were standing by me, False holding a sword to my throat, with Joe standing behind me.
"He-help.."
Joe shoved past False and helped me stand. False reluctantly helped me walk to a bed that I had in my base. I collapsed on the bed, exhausted.
"Mumbo..?"
I was already asleep. False and Joe shared a look before flying out of my base. Joe had come to my base in hopes of seeing if I had any extra glass, but I had a fit, and almost attacked Joe with a shard of glass. If False didn't stop by, who knows what could have happened.
~~•~~
I woke up. I was standing up, which was strange because last thing I remembered was being walked to my bed.
Was I sleepwalking?
What was I doing?
What is going-
My mind stopped. I was in my base, and a Bulletin board was in front of me, hanging on the wall. I held a marker in one hand, and a post-it note in the other.
Did I make this? I looked at what I had made.
What did I do?
I didn't even know anymore. There were small post-it notes read cryptic messages, with symbols I hadn't seen before. The Bulletin board was covered in photos of hermits, tiny words scribbled on their photos. Red string attached to photos, connecting photos with notes. I jumped backward. I didn't know what to think of this. I had made it. That all I knew. I pulled one of the small notes off the board. Eliminate the hermits.
I dropped the note and fell to the ground. I wouldn't do that! I loved everyone on the hermitcraft server! I would never want to kill someone. I looked up at the photos of hermits.
Xisuma photo had a small check next to it.
Docs photo had been ripped.
Joe and Scar had X's on their eyes.
Cub, Iskall, and Ren had tiny images of blood and gore.
The other photos were mangled, destroyed, colored out, and more.
There was one that was okay.
The photo that sat in the center of the board.
All of the strings pointed to him.
Grian.
A tiny note was attached to his photo.
Save him. Love him.
----------
I opened my eyes only to see the wood of my desk.
How long was I asleep for?
Why were my dreams ...memories?
Why did they come back now?
I looked around deciding to go back to Gri's hobbit hole and sleep on an actual bed. But before I left i noticed something.
The Redstone on my elbows seems to have started moving down my arms.
I thought that it had stopped a month ago?
Huh...I'll ask Scar tomorrow, better go get some rest.
Yay finally the end of chapter 15. I've had to write a whole story for the next few chapters, so the next 3-4 chapters may have a little more words than normal.
I'm also not going to publish the next chapter until I have the one after that finished.
Word count - 2657
