i will never turn my back on the people who need me
STILES WAS RUNNING through the rough terrain, leaves crunching and roots snapping under his feet as he ran through the cold night air. He stumbled around trees and over rocks, trying to find his friends who had abandoned him to run after the coyote.
"Why is this kind of funny?" Lizzie snorted.
All of a sudden, his body went crashing into a much smaller one, and because of his speed, they went crashing to the ground.
Stiles screamed in fright and then his eyes locked into wide blue ones, and he relaxed.
"Stiles?" Hope raised a brow at the boy who was on top of her. His thigh was between her legs, and pressed against her crotch, and his hands were placed on the ground on either side of her face. She chewed on her lip and looked into his hazel eyes.
Landon swallowed thickly.
"Well..." Lizzie clicked her tongue on the roof of her mouth.
"I don't know how I should feel about this," Landon mumbled.
Caroline was grinning so wide Bonnie is surprised her face hasn't split in two at this point.
Stiles breathed out, his chest grazed her breasts which were covered in a shirt and jacket. His adams-apple bobbed up and down as he swallowed thickly, his brain just now realizing the position they were in.
Klaus narrowed his eyes and bit his tongue that he drew blood. At this point, he wants to rip Stiles' head from his shoulders.
Clarke licked his lips, shifting in his seat.
"Dude!" Scott exclaimed as he approached them, his eyes wide at the sight in front of him. "Get off of her!"
"Plsss," Kol snickered, which his sisters joined in.
"Finally something me and the uneven jawed boy agree on," Klaus exhaled, slumping against his seat.
That seemed to snap Stiles out of the daze he was in, and he scrambled off of Hope with reddened cheeks, and his pants tightening. "Oh, um, yeah.... sorry."
"Oh?" Elena choked on her saliva.
"Oh, that's it!" Klaus stood up, pacing with his hands on his hips. "When I meet this boy, the first thing I'm doing is slicing his head off with my hand!"
Hayley rolled her eyes, "sit, Nik."
He huffed and fell into his chair with annoyance. "You can't tell me that the boy reacting to our daughter like that is okay."
"I was a teenager once, Klaus. I know what it's like to feel attraction. This is nothing compared to things I got up to..." she shook her head, exasperated by him.
"Oh, I definitely got up to worse than this when I was just fifteen," Caroline shrugged.
"Fifteen?!" Freya asked incredulously. "That's too young."
Caroline shrugged. "It is what it is."
Lizzie blushed. "My first time was..." she trialed off.
"Wasn't your first time with Raf?" Josie asked innocently.
Landon's eyes widened. "Raf was—?!"
Lizzie's eyes widened and she shook her head. "Hell no!" She paused, "He was my second though."
MG frowned, "who was your first?"
The blonde siphoner huffed, "don't know what it's any of your business... but it was Melody."
"The vampire?!" MG screeched in shock.
Lizzie smirked. "She did this thing with her fangs and holy—"
"Lalalala!" Josie cried out, covering her ears with her hands. "As your sister, I don't want to hear this!"
Lizzie snickered and shrugged. "Your loss."
Jen leaned forward. "I would love to hear this thing with the fangs." She wiggled her brow and Lizzie just stared in awe for a second.
Hope blushes furiously as she stood up, dusting off the leaves that now clung to her jacket. "It's... it's fine." It really wasn't because now, she had this feeling in her lower stomach, and she just realized that she didn't want to leave Stiles' presence.
"Oh?" Bonnie rose a brow.
Stiles looked between Hope and Scott before he snapped his fingers and said, "I think I found something."
Hope gathered herself and stood tall. "So did we."
And with that, Stiles was back tracking with Scott and Hope in tow, trying to contain the dirty thoughts that now filled his mind with Hope.
"Dirty thoughts about my daughter?!" Klaus screeched and then buried his face in his hands. "Where did I go wrong?"
Hayley snickered, patting him on the shoulder.
They had approached a cave like structure in a hole through a hill.
Stiles crouched down in front of the rock opening, shining his flashlight within the space. He then crawled in, Scott and Hope had been quick to follow.
"Yeah..." Hayley trailed off, "this isn't going to end well for them."
"Why not?" MG asked quietly.
Hayley rose a brow. "Would you like it if someone invaded your home?"
"No," he squeaked out.
Hope had paused though, glancing behind her. Something the back of her mind was screaming at her not to go in there, that it was wrong to invade the coyote's den. But they were trying to help Stiles' dad solve one more case while he still held the title as Sheriff.
As it turned out, Agent McCall, Scott's father, had been assigned to investigate Sheriff Stilinski — searching for good enough reasons to have him impeached.
"What the fuck?!" Caroline screeched, narrowing her eyes.
"Scott's dad is an asshole," Bonnie said through clenched teeth.
Hope had already thought Scott's father was a dick, but that just proved her opinion.
"It's a coyote den," Stiles explained, allowing the beam of light to shine upon the young girl's belongings.
"No dip Sherlock," Lizzie rolled her eyes. "Cant believe Hope Andrea Mikaelson likes this dumbass."
"He's cute though," Elena supplied with a small smile.
"Werecoyote."
Stiles glanced over toward the teens beside him, realizing that something must have happened while they chased after the animal.
"Malia," Hope commented as she took in a breath, smelling the animal that resides in this place.
Stiles reached out, grabbing the small blue winter-jacket lying in the den, lifting it up and holding it out for Scott and Hope to see. "You see this? This is Malia's. Remember, it's the same one she was wearing in the photo."
They were silent for a moment before Hope's attention moved away from the jacket. The tribrid reached out and grabbed a dirty teddy bear that was lying upon a rock. Something snapped inside of Hope as she stared down at the plush animal, "We shouldn't be in here."d
Stiles' eyebrows furrowed together. "What do you mean?"
"She's not going to come back now," Hope explained, her eyes widening. "We just invaded her home." Glancing back toward her friends, she added, "Our scent's going to be everywhere — I can smell them now."
Hayley nodded with her lips in a thin line. "Malia isn't going to be very happy about this."
"Still can't believe that the coyote is Malia," MG stated, eyes wide.
Stiles frowned. "If she's not going to come back here, where's she going to go?"
"I don't know."
"Can you track her now?" Stiles asked, realizing that now they were actually inside Malia's den and that her scent must be flooding the den as of right now. "You think you got her scent?"
Klaus frowned. "I think they just need to leave the girl alone."
"I agree with Hope's father," Kaleb pointed out.
"But Malia is all alone," Jed stated quietly, and then cleared his throat awkwardly when a few people turned towards him. "She shouldn't have to live all on her own when she has a grieving father waiting for her at home."
"He's not waiting, he thinks she is dead, there is a difference," Kaleb stated and then sighed.
Ben shrugged. "I just think she shouldn't stay stuck as a coyote for the rest of her life."
Jen snapped her fingers and pointed at her brother.
Scott shook his head slowly. "Maybe — but I'm better at this when I'm a full wolf. And I'm still worried that if I do it, I won't be able to turn back."
Hope bit her lip, her fingers caressing the bear in her hand. "With her personal belonging — the stuff she keeps in here means she attached to them. They were there the day the crash happened. So...." she trialed off, glancing around the den. "I might be able to do a locator spell with this bear and the bracelet I had took from her room."
Stiles gave the girl a small smile, loving how she always wants to help. "Thanks, Hope." He sighed and looked around the den, his hazel eyes full of sadness now. "Until then... the door is still open."
"I feel so bad for them," Rebekah commented with a frown. "They did something just to save their parents and now they're being punished in doing so."
"It's concerning that their doors might already have been open way too long already..." Freya trailed off, making eye contact with Kol who has the same fear as her.
"If we can't get to Derek, we're gonna have to find someone else to help," Scott explained, nodding.
"Like who?"
Scott's eyes sparked to life with realization. "This is basically a crime scene, right? I think it might be a little out of my boss' league."
"And more of my dad's," Stiles pointed out in realization, knowing that they could at least get the place blocked off before Hope does her tracking spell.
"I hope they help Malia," Josie mumbled.
BLUE AND RED lights flashed around the three teens, who were waiting off in the distance, watching as Stilinski began to examine the coyote den.
Numerous deputies were roaming around, everyone trying to solve the case of the terrible fate that consumed half of the Tate family.
"I feel like Hope and Malia are going to connect in a way Hope can't with the others..." Hayley said after a moment of thought.
"Why do you say that, little wolf?" Klaus asked, tilting his head in her direction.
"Because they have both been through something traumatic," she said, licking at her lips. "They can relate to one another."
In the Sheriff's hand was a small blanket as he moved away from the den and his deputies before making his way toward the trio.
He approached them and asked, "Are you three sure it was her?"
Hope nodded immediately, chewing on her bottom lip. "I looked her right in the eyes. And they glowed just like mine and Scott's."
"It makes sense, Dad," Stiles piped in from beside Scott.
"But it wasn't a girl," Stilinski reminded them, still having trouble grasping their theory. "It was a four-legged coyote, right?"
"He literally put them on this case..." MG trailed off with furrowed brows. "Isn't this what he was hoping for? That she was alive?"
Hope stepped forward. "Noah, we have been through so much more than you can even comprehend. There is a lot of unknown stuff out in the world." She then sighed and bit the inside of her cheek. "My father and mother..." she took in a deep breath as they all snapped their heads towards her. "They could transform into actual wolves. I can too. And I know that the werewolves in this world are a bit different, but it would make sense if Malia has that in her genes."
Hayley laid a hand over her chest where her heart lays beneath. "She's gotten to the point she can finally mention us..." she sweallowed thickly. "She's going to be okay, Klaus."
Klaus grinned before nodding. "And she will be even better once we reunite with her after all of this nonsense."
Lizzie grinned. "Nonsense, you say?" And then she started singing under her breath, "I'll be honest, Lookin' at you got me thinkin' nonsense. Cartwheels in my stomach when you walk in. And when you got your arms around me. Ooh, it feels so good I had to jump the octave. I think I got an ex but I forgot him and I can't find my chill, I must have lost it. I don't even know I'm talkin' nonsense."
Josie shook her head in amusement at her sisters antics.
Elena smiled. "Why do I feel like this is a Sabrina Carpenter song?"
Lizzie beamed, jumping around to face her favorite aunt. "Ding ding!"
Elena giggled at her, smiling widely. If it is true; Lizzie and Josie being her nieces through Caroline, she will be happy. The twins — especially Lizzie — seem so fun.
Stiles stepped forward and gripped her hand in his, squeezing it. He knows she doesn't like talking about her family much, especially her mother and father. So, this was a big step for her.
"Aww, he just—ahh!" Caroline held her chest tightly and then sniffed. "He's so cute and soft with her."
"Nik, I think our little Mikaelson has found her soulmate," Rebekah told her brother, preparing to he yelled at, but instead, surprising himself and others, he just tilted his head in thought.
Scott sent Hope a small smile before turning back to Noah. "If it was a full moon and she did change while her mom was driving then anything could've happened."
"Horrible things could've happened," Stiles spoke up, still gripping Hope's hand. "Ripping, shredding, tearing things," he went to continue but Hope jabbed him in the stomach with her elbow. "Ow! What?"
Kol smiled and flopped his head on his wife's shoulder. "They remind me of us."
Davina smiled and ran her hand through his floppy hair. "They do." She then grinned, "except neither of them are as annoying as you are."
"Hey!" Kol gasped and slammed his hand down on his chest. "That hurt."
"Truth hurts, babe," she snickered.
Elena smiled over at them. She hates what she and Jeremy had done to Kol, but at least something good happened out of it — he found his soulmate.
"Which is probably what caused the accident," Scott explained, sending Hope a thankful look to which she simply smirked at.
"Them teaming up against Stiles will never not be funny," Kaleb stated with a chuckle.
"You're so right," Lizzie stated with a smirk.
"Think about it, Dad, all right," Stiles began, starting to explain the entire car accident from beginning to end. "They're driving, Malia starts to change, she goes out of control, the mom crashes and everybody dies—"
"Except for Malia," Hope interjected. "She blames herself, all right, goes off running into the woods and eventually becomes trapped inside the body of a coyote." This story — this whole thing — was reminding her so much of the situation with her parents. She just lost control to her point she couldn't stand having her family split up which caused her to do terrible things which resulted in their deaths.
Hayley swallowed but gestured to the screen as if to say 'I told you so'.
"At least Hope will have someone there to fully understand her, even if the situations are slightly different," Freya stated with a small smile aimed at Hayley, understanding the silent gesture.
Sheriff Stilinski nodded in response to their words, "That makes sense." The three teenagers glanced between one another, slightly relieved by how quick he had been to agree with them. "In a Chinese folktale!" And just like that, their grins fell.
"Oh, come on!" Elena groaned, running her hands down her face exasperatedly.
"Why do adults have to be like this?!" Caroline whined, shaking her head.
Alaric pouted, "I wasn't like that."
"Well you already knew about the supernatural, so shush," Damon pointed at the older man, placing his finger to his lips.
"Kids, this is — this is insane! I need this kept quiet. The three of you, not a word. I don't want anyone hearing about this. I especially don't want Mr. Tate hearing about this."
Hope wanted to continue to argue with Noah, but knew that he hadn't been around the supernatural for long, so he wasn't going to listen to a bunch of teenagers.
"He should." Bonnie crossed her arms.
The tribrid glanced over at Scott, noticing that he had his head turned to something behind them. His eyes widened as though he had spotted something in the trees. He looked as though he was seeing something that no one else could see.
Freya chewed anxiously at her bottom lip, fingers tapping on the arms of her chair.
"Scott?" Stilinski called out, snapping the boy out of his hallucination.
Hope looked at him, noticing the panicked expression on his face. She frowned and reached back, grabbing his hand, anchoring him back to the real world.
"Aww," Elena smiled, knowing the power between a sibling relationship. If no one else was able to snap her out of something, Jeremy would be able to.
Scott gulped, trying to swallow the lump forming in the back of his throat as he made eye contact with Stilinski. "Sorry," he choked out, his gaze flickered back to the rock behind him seeing that there was nothing there. "What did you say?"
It was then that a new set of sirens pierced the air, and all of them looking over to see another squad car arriving on the scene.
Stilinski recognized the vehicle immediately. "Oh, hell," he muttered.
Without a second's notice, Agent McCall and Mr. Tate were filing out of the vehicle, making their way over toward Sheriff Stilinski and the three teenagers.
"Are you kidding me?!" Lizzie groaned, slumping further into the beanbag, shoulder pressed up against Jen. "That man can't stay out of stuff that isn't his business, can he?"
"Mr. Tate," Stilinski solemnly greeted, obviously not liking that Agent McCall had brought the man back into the whole situation.
Tate's eyes were locked on the pink and white blanket in Stilinski's hand, instantly recognizing it to be his daughter's. He gingerly reached out for it with both of his hands, gripping onto it gently as though it were a newborn baby.
Hayley swallowed, feeling her heart broke for the man. To lose a daughter in any capacity hurts.
"Mr. Tate?" Agent McCall called out with narrowed eyes.
The father's gaze still locked upon the blanket, nothing being able to tear it away from the object. "It's hers."
Hope looked down, knowing that this was their fault — they are beginning his pain back to the forefront of his brain. They were breaking this already broken man just because they wanted to help Noah not lose his job.
Something pulled at Hope's chest as she watched, knowing the feeling of losing almost your entire family far too well. She could easily relate to the man's pain, she still suffers from the pain of losing her parents and uncle.
"She shouldn't be blaming herself for this," Rebekah said softly and then sneered, "it's Agent Douches fault for him currently being there at the scene."
"All right," McCall said quietly, looking toward Tate. "Wait here."
"Dad," Scott had said, his eyes narrowed.
His father gave him a harsh glare. "I'll talk to you in a minute," he snapped, and Hope had to hold herself back from punching him in the face. "I wouldn't mind hearing how your mom is okay with you running around in the woods this late." He glanced to Hope for a second before walking away from them, Noah quick to follow.
"Fucking dick," Lizzie spat out.
And they were left with trying to figure out how they were going to save Malia Tate.
"I don't doubt that they'll be able to help Malia out," Alaric stated, looking at the teenagers that he has practically adopted, "when kids put their mind to something, there is so way that they'll give up until they accomplish what they want."
Lizzie furrowed her brow and looked straight against at the screen, chest tightening at her father's words. He says this now, but it feels like in the future, he doesn't believe in any of them to do what needs to be done. Ll
THEY WERE NOW huddled together in a corner of a classroom with Allison, explaining to her what they have found out.
"Here's where we found the den," Stiles announced, pointing to a location on the screen of his tablet. "It's right in the middle of the hiking trails."
"Well, that could narrow it down," Allison informed, her finger moving to race over one of the trails showed on the screen. "Coyotes travel on fixed trails, but I think you're right about her not going back to the den. Coyotes don't like wolves and they're really smart. If they don't want to be heard, they actually walk on their toes."
Stiles immediately looked up from the screen, the tip-toeing part being the only thing his mind latched onto. "Coyotes tiptoe?"
Lizzie snorted and shook her head. "That is what he focuses on?"
Allison sighed, rolling her eyes before repeating, "They tiptoe."
And soon enough, the bell was sounding harshly throughout the building, and Allison looked toward the ceiling. "I got to go, but send the pinned location." She then rushed out of the classroom.
The three teenagers dispersed, moving to go find their seats.
Hope made her way down the aisle of desks in the direction toward her own, but she was quickly stopped when Kira Yukimura stepped in front of her.
"Hey, I'm Kira," Kira quickly blurted out, her eyes widening as she realized what she had just said. "You knew that. I knew you knew that. I don't know why I just told you that again. Anyway, I have something for you." She began to pull off her backpack.
"Oh?" Caroline rose a brow.
"So cute," Elena cooed.
"I feel like she needs to be protected from this mess," Enzo stated, tilting his head at the screen. There was no need for someone as sweet as Kira to be introduced in the Supernatural world.
"I agree," Lizzie nodded.
"She's so precious," Jen stated with a grin.
"You have something for me?" Hope repeated, looking at the new girl with a small smile from confusion.
"Yeah, about the Bardo," Kira quickly explained, "My explanation was sort of all over the place, so I did some research and I printed it out for you."
Hope nibbled on her bottom lip, the kindness of this girl making her heart swell. "You didn't have to do that."
Kira glanced up from her bag, "It only took a couple of hours."
"Oh, this girl def has a crush on Hope," Lizzie stated with raised brows.
Jen couldn't help but glance at the blonde to gauge her expression. Lizzie is complicated in the aspect of her relationship with Hope. Jen can't help but keep thinking Lizzie and Hope used to date, especially with the way she reacts to some things or the way she mumbles about how pretty and amazing the short auburn haired girl is.
Hope's eyebrows rose in surprise. "A couple — wow, um, you really didn't need to do that."
As she continued to dig through her bag, Kira muttered out in frustration, "I swear I printed it out."
"Kira," Mr. Yukimura's voice sounded, and the two girls glanced over at their teacher. He made his way over, a thick stack of papers in hand. "You forgot all the research you did for that girl you want to be friends with and the boy you like."
"Boy?" Josie frowned. "I swore it seemed like she liked Hope."
"Right!" Lizzie exclaimed with a chuckle, but something looked a little tight on her face.
Enzo looked between Jen and Lizzie, frowning with his nose scrunched up in thought. With the way they're so close to one another, how they lean against each other, he thought they were together. But now, Lizzie looks like a jealous girlfriend or ex at the thought of someone liking Hope. It doesn't make sense.
Kira's eyes widened, growing embarrassed at her father's words. She took the stack of papers from his hand, spinning around to face Hope sheepishly.
Hope's small smile grew into a grin as she automatically glanced to Scott who was blushing at Kira.
"So cute," Caroline giggled.
"The way everyone is just falling in love with one another in this..." Damon trailed off, about to say 'show' but held his tongue because it technically wasn't a show. It's about real life people, and suddenly he realizes how weird it is to watch the life of someone without them knowing.
Kira quickly handed the tribrid the stack of paper before basically sprinting to her seat.
"We need to protect her at all costs!" Caroline exclaimed, smiling at Kira.
With that, Hope slid into her seat beside Scott and behind Stiles. Her fingers grazed the thick stack of papers, licking her lips. She then glanced over at Scott and smirked. "So... you have a crush."
Kol snorted and others chuckled.
Stiles snorted at that while Scott sheepishly looked down at his hands.
At the front of the classroom, Mr. Yukimura spoke, "All right, everyone. Let's get started. We were just talking about internment camps and prisoners of war. There's a passage in our reading that I'd like to go over in more detail."
Rather than indulging herself in Mr. Yukimura's lecture on internment camps, Hope found herself leaning over her desk, flipping through the pages regarding to Bardo. She wanted to know everything, absorb as much information as she could in her brain.
"Like uncle, like niece," Rebekah snorted, patting Elijah on his shoulder.
Kol couldn't help but think that it could also be aimed at him because he loves i research things that will be helpful to him in the long run. Between him and his siblings, he knows more about all supernatural related things. Well... except for this so called Malivore guy.
She was only pulled out of her readings when the sound of a frantic breathing invaded her ears.
Hope snapped her head up, noticing that Stiles was standing behind the podium at the front of the classroom, sweat beaded along his forehead, arms trembling and looking as though he was having a hard time catching his breath.
Kol sat up, eyeing the scene with wide eyes. It's getting so much worse for Stiles out of everyone else. It has to mean something... and he hopes it's not what he's currently thinking of. If it is... it won't end well for his favorite niece and her friends.
Without thinking or caring about anyone else in the room, Hope jumped up from her seat, and ran towards her friend. "Stiles? Stiles, are you — do you?"
"Friend? Yeah, right," Caroline snorted.
"Care, not the time," Bonnie said with a worried expression as she stared at Stiles on the screen.
Stiles then stumbled forward, his hands curling tightly around the edges of the podium to keep himself from toppling to the ground.
Hope shot forward, wrapping an arm around him. "I - I should take him to the nurse's office."
Without a second thought, Scott stood from his own seat and assisted Hope as they led Stiles into the boys' locker room.
Stiles quickly lurched forward, grabbing onto the walls in attempt to keep himself standing. He stumbled, fingers curling around the porcelain sink as he fought to keep himself upright.
"Stiles, look at me, man," Scott began, growing concerned. "Is this a panic attack?"
Looking at his reflection in the mirror, Stiles assured himself: "It's a dream, it's a dream. This is just a dream."
Scott shook his head, "No, it's not. This is real. You're here. You're here with me and Hope."
Hope ran a shaky hand through her hair, wracking her brain for anything that could help prove to Stiles that he wasn't dreaming. "Okay, what do you do? I mean, like, how do you tell if you're awake or dreaming?"
Stiles failed his left arm around, gasping for breath as he managed to choke out. "Your fingers — you count your fingers. You have extra fingers in dreams." He was heaving over the sink, wheezing as his chest burned while his lungs screamed for a deep breath of oxygen.
Freya was biting her bottom lip harshly, eyes filling up with tears as she watched the young boy struggle.
"I feel so bad for him," Caroline mumbled, leaning forward, wishing she could reach through the screen and help him calm down in some sort of way.
Elena couldn't help but think about the hallucinations she had when she killed Connor. The way she would end up in hysterics by the end of the day and how she almost killed herself to end it all... she kind of knows how Stiles is feeling with all of this, even if it's slightly different. She wants to just pull the boy into a hug and not let him go until he's healed and safe and happy.
Scott glanced down at his own fingers, raising his hands up in front of Stiles. "How many to do I have? Hey — look at me. Come on, Stiles. Look at my hands and count with me."
Stiles pressed himself against the sink, looking toward Scott's fingers. "One...two." He doubled over once more, gasping for air that refused to come to him.
"Keep going," Scott insisted.
"Three," Scott raised another one. "Four."
"Five."
Scott raised his other hand, Stiles spluttering out, "Six...seven."
"Eight."
"Nine," Stiles managed to get out, and Scott raised his final finger. "Ten."
"Ten," Hope nodded at him. "There's only ten."
Stiles' eyes kept trailing along the extent of Scott's digits, counting them over and over again in his head just to prove to himself that what was happening wasn't a dream.
And with one more pained gasp, Stiles' back slid down the wall until he collapsed to the ground, his chest heaved as he realized what had just occurred.
Things were rapidly growing worse, not only for him, but all of them, and they had no idea how to close the door within their minds.
"This is definitely not good," Kol groaned. "And it's only going to get worse unless they fix it now."
Hope slid down so she was sitting right across from him, on her knees. She tentatively reached forward and grabbed his hands, smoothing her fingers over his digits.
Stiles looked up at her through his eye lashes, his hazel eyes full of unshed tears. "What the hell is happening to me?"
"Hey, hey," Hope murmured as she moved her position so she was sitting beside him. She reached upwards and began to weave her fingers through his hair, scratching his head, hoping to calm him a little. "We're going to figure this out, alright? You're going to be okay."
Caroline was still concerned about the whole panic attack thing, but she couldn't help but coo at how soft and gentle Hope can be with Stiles. If there is such a thing as soulmates (she has always wished to find hers since she was a little girl) she can't help but think that Stiles and Hope are it.
"Am I?" Stiles questioned, glancing toward Hope, biting his lip. "Are any of us? Scott, you can't transform. Allison's being haunted by her dead aunt. Hope is occupying all her time trying to help us. And I'm straight up losing my mind." He shook his head solemnly. "We can't do this. We can't — we can't help Malia. We can't help anyone."
"We can try. We can always try."
"Trying is all you can do at the end of the day," Elena whispered, squeezing Damon's hand.
STILES, HOPE, SCOTT, and Isaac all stood around an operation table in the back of the animal clinic.
They were currently seeking Deaton's help on something they couldn't do themselves. Malia's own father was out for the coyote's blood without even realizing that it was his daughter, and they had to make sure that didn't happen.
"God, imagine killing your daughter when you thought it was just a random coyote," Lizzie winced, and then widened her eyes when a few people shot her looks. "Sorry!" She exclaimed, mouth gaping. "I didn't mean to sound so... insensitive."
Caroline felt like she was looking in a mirror at herself from when she was younger, before she turned into a vampire. "It would be tragic," she agreed, not wanting her.. daughter?! feel bad about something that escaped her mouth without thought. Sometimes it's hard to remember to filter yourself.
This whole thing had started because apparently, Malia had broken into the school and chased Kira all the way to the boys locker rooms after Stiles and Hope had left. Fortunately for the Yukimura girl, Scott had been hanging around and heard her panicked breathing. He saved her and scared Malia off.
"Oh?!"
"Why would she attack Kira?" Enzo frowned, crossing his arms.
"Xylazine. It's a tranquilizer for horses. For a Werecoyote, expect it to work within seconds. I only have three — so whoever's shooting, needs to be a damn good shot."
"Allison's a perfect shot," Scott announced, nodding his head at Deaton.
Isaac, who had remained silent until now, spoke out, "Well, she used to be."
Hope snapped her head to look toward him, giving him a look.
"Sorry," Lizzie gasped out, "the way her eye twitched was hilarious!"
"She looked so scandalized, almost like that one time she walked in on me and Dav—"
Davina screeched and reached over, slamming her hand over her husbands mouth. "Never bring that up again!"
"She can do it," Scott urged, completely believing in his ex-girlfriend's ability to shoot any target with accuracy.
"I love how supportive he is of anyone," Hayley smiled. "He's so soft hearted, it's refreshing."
"If we manage to find the thing."
"Okay, what is the point of him?" Stiles huffed out, pointing an annoyed finger in Isaac's direction. "Seriously, I mean, what is his purpose? Aside from the persistent negativity and the scarf? What's up with the scarf anyway? It's like sixty-five degrees out."
Lizzie snickered but pointed at the screen while nodding. "I have been wondering the same damn thing! What is with it?!"
"It's definitely... some sort of fashion statement..." Josie trailed off with a snicker.
Hope snorted and jumped away from Isaac when he went to jab her with a finger. She giggled and made her way over to Stiles, sticking her tongue out at Isaac who sent her a mock glare.
"I love seeing her being just a regular teenager sometimes," Hayley smiled, happy to see her daughter happy.
"I don't know how she finds the good in bad moments," Klaus grumbled. "She definitely didn't get it from me." He then turned his head to stare fondly at Hayley, blue eyes sparkling.
Isaac then held his head high and gave Stiles a look. "Maybe I'm just asking a question that you're all afraid to ask." He then sighed, crossing his arms. "How do we turn a coyote back into a girl, when she hasn't been a girl for eight years?"
Jed raised his hand slowly, "I have the same question."
"Weren't you the alpha?" Clarke asked the younger boy with a raised brow.
"Yeah," Jed nodded with a grin, "so?"
Clarke tilted his head, but he quickly realized that Jed is just clueless. So, he sighed, "alpha roars are very powerful."
"And?" Jed prompted.
"Meaning, with a powerful enough roar, it would signal another werewolf to transform, either into their wolf form or out of it," Hayley supplied with a kind smile.
Jed nodded, "ah," he clicked his tongue. "That makes sense." Maybe it never worked for him because everyone knew he was an imposter, that Hope was suppose to be the actual alpha, not him. He was never made out to be the alpha, no matter how hard he tried, no matter how much he changed himself. Deep down, he doesn't have it in him.
"I can do it," Scott stated, nodding his head.
"You can?" Stiles asked, eyebrows furrowed as he looked over at his best friend in shock.
Scott nodded, glancing between Stiles and Hope. "You remember the night that Peter trapped us in the school? In the gym, he was able to make me turn using just his voice."
"When did that happen?!" Caroline exclaimed.
"Probably before Hope was introduced," Josie supplied.
Deaton then pointed out, "This is a Werecoyote — who knows if it'll even work if you can find someone who can teach you guys."
"That's why you called Derek, first," Stiles realized, sighing as he looked over at Scott who frowned.
"Yeah—" Scott paused, breath hitching, "I could try it on my own, but right now, I'm too scared to even change into just a werewolf."
"We need a real Alpha!" Stiles suddenly exclaimed to wish Scott gave him an offended look. "You know what I mean. And Alpha who can do Alpha things. You know, an Alpha who can get it going. You know, get it—"
Jed snorted in amusement.
"God, what does Hope find in him?" Kaleb groaned, shaking his head.
Clarke shrugged, "I don't know, he seems better than my dear brother though."
Landon gaped in offense. "Hello?! I'm right here!" He waved his arms in the air.
"And?" Clarke rose a brow and then smirked when his brother just glared at him.
"I think I like you, Clarky," Damon said with a grin.
"I'm very likable," Clarks remarked back with a similar grin.
"Up?" Isaac offered, raising a inquisitive brow.
Hope once again snorted, shaking her head at the blonde, blue eyed werewolf. "Isaac, naughty, naughty!"
Everyone paused and then Lizzie was suddenly gusting a gut. "Did she just say what I think she said?!" She gasped for air, bending over as she went into another laughing fit. "What kind of drugs is she on?"
Klaus couldn't help but smile at his daughter and the way she's having fun, even if the moment is dire.
Now, it was Stiles' turn to snort as he turned to Hope with an amused smile. "Naughty, naughty?"
Lizzie snorted, "even he thinks it's hilarious!"
Josie smiled, amused with her dear sister and what she deems funny.
She blushed. This was so unlike herself, to let go and be herself, well, the self that she usually hides because there is too many problems laying out in front of her.
Lizzie quietened, feeling bad all of a sudden. She honestly likes this side of Hope. She's so carefree and funny now. She's pretty sure if she met this side of Hope, they would be amazing friends.
"Great," Scott huffed out, "I'm an Alpha with performance issues."
Hayley couldn't help but chuckle at that.
Deaton turned to look over at the teenagers. "Is there anyone else that you know besides Derek, who could help?"
"Maybe the twins," Stiles offered, and Hope arched a brow as she looked at him in confusion.
"The twins who he doesn't even like?" Kaleb asked and then shook his head. "This boy don't make no sense to me."
"They're not Alphas anymore, and they left town," the tribrid explained, sighing.
"And after what Jennifer did to them, almost killing them, It broke that part of them," Deaton commented, and they all went quiet in thought.
"Huh," was all Klaus said.
Hope chewed on her lip and then looked to Scott. "I can help you."
They all turned towards her as her eyes glowed a golden color.
Hayley and Klaus smirked. "Our daughter. And alpha."
"Seems fitting for our littlest Mikaelson," Kol grinned.
TWO CARS AND a single motorcycle pulled up to the Beacon Hills Preserve, careful not to park too close to the trails that Malia ran on.
Each of them were set on the mission to save Malia, to turn the Werecoyote back into a regular girl.
When all of them exited their vehicles, they seemed to glance over at each other.
All of them seemed prepared enough, ready to risk everything to save a single person.
"Anyone else think we might be doing more harm than good?" Lydia asked, finally being the one to break the silence.
"Yes, because they shouldn't be risking their lives for someone they don't even know," Klaus grumbled.
Hayley rolled her eyes. "They're nice and helpful. Leave them be. I think it's brave and honorable."
"We're trying to keep a father from killing his own daughter," Hope voiced, a clenching feeling taking a hold of her heart.
"I think, personally, that Hope is thinking about the parallels between the Mikaelson curse and how she couldn't reunite with her own family, her father, but now she can at least help out another girl reunite with her family," the author spoke up, making everyone sink in their chairs, chests clenching in thought.
Klaus averted his eyes.
"Actually," Isaac cut in, frowning slightly as he processed the words in his mind. "We're trying to keep a guy from killing a coyote who is actually his daughter, who we don't know how to change from a coyote back to his daughter."
Enzo huffed, "this boy really isn't being helpful at the moment."
"He's adorable though," Elena commented with a giggle.
Stiles' eyes narrowed at Isaac, still annoyed from what he had said while they were at the clinic. "And against with the not helping."
Isaac gave a sarcastic smile toward Stiles, nodding his head while he fought the urge to speak out against the boy.
"Their rivalry is so hilarious," MG snorted.
"Stupid, but funny," Josie agreed.
Hope and Scott both shared a look with each other, rolling their eyes at the two teens' bickering.
Scott turned to look over at Allison, "Did you bring it?"
Allison remained silent, popping the trunk to her car so she could receive the gun that she had took from her father. Once she pulled it out, she looked at them with a determined, but nervous expression. She didn't trust herself to shoot Malia with the tranquilizer because her aim has been all over the place lately.
"Despite the nerves... she looks hot as fuck," Bonnie breathed out.
"Here, here sista!" Caroline agreed, nodding her head enthusiastically.
"All right," Scott began. "I guess we need—"
His words were cut short at the sound of two loud gunshots rang through the air, and all of the teenagers jolted to life.
Scott and Hops had been the first to flee, neither of them thinking twice about the consequences before the two of them hopped on Scott's bike.
Scott started it up, and in less than a few seconds, the machinery was flying down the trial.
"It was as if they were meant to meet, to be siblings, they're practically the same. They don't think before responding to help someone," Freya couldn't help but smile.
"Wait, wait, wait, wait!" Stiles called out, practically screaming at Scott and Hope to stop so that they could think of something to do instead of running into the action without a proper plan.
Scott didn't listen, only continuing down the trail before disappearing into the forest.
Hope watched as the trees blurred past them, worry taking over her entire behind.
Their ears perked up when another gunshot rang out, and Scott urged the bike to move faster.
The wind wiped past them, time was running out — Tate was advancing closer to Malia.
Over the roar of the motorcycle, a loud scream echoed through their heads.
"Isaac?!" Caroline screeched.
"What the hell happened?!" Lizzie was instantly worried. She doesn't personally know Isaac, but she likes him. They're practically the same person.
Hope's hands automatically moved to her ears, clamping over them as she tried to block out the horrible scream of pain that was coming from Isaac. Scott done the same thing, and with that, the bike lost control.
"Shit," Kaleb hissed through his teeth.
"Why would the idiot let go of the handles?" Kol groaned, rolling his eyes.
Hope grunted as the bike took a sharp turn, falling onto it's side.
Scott flew forward, his feet flying over his head as he flipped along the ground. Hope soared off the bike, a cry of pain escaping her mouth as her entire body collided against a tree. She fell to the ground, her shoulder and then her head hitting the ground which was covered in rocks.
Klaus growled lowly in his chest. "Idiot causes the wreck and now my daughter is hurt."
"Klaus..." Hayley trailed off, "he obviously didn't mean to."
"So?" Klaus shrugged. "My daughter still got hurt."
Hope breathed out heavily, pain shooting from her body in multiple places. She felt blood trickling down the side of her face, bringing her fingers up to assess the damage, she winced when she felt that a small gash had been sliced into her forehead just above her right eyebrow.
"She really can't go a day without somehow getting hurt," Lizzie shook her head, tsking.
"Crap," she muttered to herself before glancing over to Scott who scrambled toward her. Her eyes widened when she remembered why they crashed. "Isaac!" Her mind began to wonder on what happened and if he, Stiles, Lydia, and Allison was okay. She looked to Scott, already pulling herself into a standing position. "Go find Malia. I'm going to help our friends."
"So selfless," Alaric shook his head. "Don't even know the kid, and yet I feel like I need to tell her to sit down and take a breather."
Lizzie tried to push the jealousy down, but going all her life feeling like her own father liked another kid more than her, it still stings. Even now, it's warranted because Hope really does need to stop and think about herself for once, but fuck, she has big feelings and she can't help it.
Scott nodded and took off toward Malia as Hope ran off to their friends.
It took only a few seconds before the tribrid approached Isaac who was bent over, trying to get a bear trap off of his ankle. Allison stood beside him, trying to help him as best as she could.
"Fuck," Kaleb groaned.
MG hissed through his teeth.
"That looks painful," Bonnie groaned, covering her eyes slightly.
"Isaac?!" Hope exclaimed as she skidded to a stop, looking at him with wide eyes. "How can I help?"
He grunted, sweat building up on his face, and a single tear of pain slid down his cheek. "Can you, um... use your magic to — to get this off of me?"
Hope nodded and held her hands out as if she was holding something down. She closed her eyes and she felt her magic pulse around her behind before going towards the trap, holding it still. "Okay, go."
Isaac slowly stood up and took his foot away from the trap. Once he was away from the trap, all safe, Hope released her magic, and the bear trap made a loud snapping noise. The sound echoed through the woods, surrounding the three of them.
"Where's Scott?" Allison breathed out once Isaac was out of harms way.
Hope took in a breath, and then gestured behind her. "He went after Malia." Her ears then perked up upon hearing Stiles' panicked voice. "I have to go." She ran off towards Stiles, ignoring Allison and Isaac's confused expressions.
"What the hell is going on in those woods?" Rebekah whined. "Not one of them can catch a break."
"Stiles!" Hope shouted as she went into a small clearing. "What happened?!" She slowed down upon seeing a very still Lydia, her foot on a bear trap. "Oh, my god."
"Damn..." Lizzie trialed off.
Stiles looked towards her with wide eyes, chewing on his bottom lip in worry and fear. "Hope?"
The auburn haired witch swallowed thickly and stepped closer to them. She did the same thing she had down with Isaac, making sure that her magic was holding down the trap. "Lydia, move. I got it."
Lydia looked towards the other girl with wide, fearful eyes, but trusted her. So, she quickly jumped away from the trap, and squeaked once Hope's magic let go of the metal contraption. The noise once again echoed through the woods once it snapped closed.
The strawberry blonde looked towards the tribrid, and let out an impressed breath. "You have no idea how bad I want to kiss you right now."
Everyone's eyes widened at that.
"Girls got game, gotta give her points," Lizzie whistled, cheeks slightly pink.
Stiles let out a strangled noise from the back of his throat, looking between them with wide eyes.
"Jealousy, jealousy..." Elena trailed off with a giggle.
Hope smirked and walked closer to them. "Well... I think you should show me."
Lizzie started fanning herself, eyes wide.
Jen bit her lip, glancing over at the blonde. But, even herself, she couldn't help but feel something with the way Hope was on the screen. After all, she has eyes and can see how absolutely gorgeous the young Mikaelson was.
Once again, Stiles let out a strangled noise of surprise, which made both of them girls giggle.
Lizzie snickered.
"Don't worry, Stiles, Hope and I had a thing, it's over now. You don't need to worry." Lydia winked at the boy who's cheeks reddened at the implication.
"Wait, what?!" He exclaimed, totally discombobulated. "What thing? You two had a thing?!"
"The way he's so surprised that two hot women possibly kissed," Rebekah said with a shake of her head.
Damon grinned. "I think he's finally realizing that he has to up his game to get the girl."
"Honestly though, I don't think there is any competition," Caroline stated with a shrug. "Stiles and Hope are obviously meant to be together."
Hope fondly rolled her blue eyes at him. "Yes. It was just a make-out session when I was feeling lonely. It was the night I realized I wasn't going to be able to make it home."
Home. It didn't even feel right anymore, not toward Mystic Falls anymore.
The Super Squad was sad to hear this, but they couldn't blame the tribrid. It seems like she is finding herself in Beacon Hills, which is something Mystic Falls was holding her back from doing.
Beacon Hills is where she feels loved and safe, and like she can do anything, especially with the pack at her side.
Beacon Hills is now her home and she couldn't be happier about it.
Landon's heart broke at that, but he also felt some sort of happiness for her. He's finally coming to the realization that Hope is not his, that she never was, and that she is much better off somewhere far away from Mystic Falls and the Salvatore School.
The Mikaelson's shared looks. Clearly, to them, if they get out of this, that it seems that they won't be living in Mystic Falls or New Orleans like they thought.
Where ever their little Mikaelson is, they will be there as well.
Stiles looked between them multiple times before blinking repeatedly, letting the words settle into his brain. "You two—" He shook his head, a sinking feeling entering his gut. "Oh."
Caroline pouted. "My heart hurts for him."
Hope frowned at that, not liking the way he suddenly went quiet. There was a sad expression on his beautiful face, and it hurt her heart. "Lydia and I have decided long ago that we're just better off friends," she explained, wanting him to know that she wasn't taken. "No hard feelings."
"She wants him to know that she isn't taken, yet won't be with him?!" Caroline screeched the last few words on disbelief. "This is stupid! Ridiculous! Agh!" She screamed in frustration.
Her friends couldn't help but snicker at her.
Maybe she was done being dumb with herself. She has tried to push down her connection with Stiles for a while now, especially after the fiasco that was the hospital where they had huddled together in the ambulance.
"Just kiss him already!" Caroline cried out.
"No, don't kiss him," Klaus said with a shake of his head.
"You're no fun," Caroline stuck her tongue out at him.
"Niklaus Mikaelson, Party Pooper since the 10th century," Kol snickered and then grabbed a pillow that Klaus launched at him.
It was at that moment — she thinks — that she began to feel something more deeply towards him.
And maybe, she wasn't so scared of moving on from Landon anymore.
A few people glanced at Landon, but the curly haired boy simply forced a small smile on his face and nodded at the screen, as if he was giving Hope permission to move on from him.
"Oh." He looked up at her at that, his eyes twinkling with something like hope. "Well, um..."
His sentence was cut off as a loud roar rang out through the woods, making the birds that were nesting in them, fly away.
"Did Scotty do it?!" Elena sat up excitedly.
Even Jed sat forward with an excited grin on his face.
Hope turned towards the sound, her eyes glowing their golden hue as the alpha's road coursed through her body, making her feel all tingly.
Of course, she was an alpha at heart, but, she didn't want to be one. Even though she takes the lead in most things, always sacrificing herself to save her friends — pack members — she would rather not be the alpha. She wasn't nice and always thoughtful towards things, no, she was pretty reckless. But, Scott was nice, always thought of others, and well, he was destined to be something more.
"Awww, she's willing to give up her birthright for her brother, I couldn't be any prouder," Hayley smiled and wiped away a fallen tear. It wasn't of sadness (this time) but of being proud of who her daughter has turned into.
Stiles gave her a look, urging her on. "Go. Malia might feel more welcomed with a girl around."
Hope sent him a small smile before running off towards where the roar came from.
As she approached where the wreck had occurred, she made her way by Scott's side, taking in the figure in front of them.
What stood in the place of the coyote was now a beautiful young girl, with long brown hair and soft brown eyes. And even though she was covered in dirt and leaves, Hope couldn't help but still think she was one of the most attractive girls she has ever met.
"Oh?" Bonnie rose a brow.
"She is really pretty," Lizzie agreed, eyes sparkling as she took in the very confused girl on the ground.
"Malia," the tribrid spoke in a whisper which made the girl turn to her abruptly.
As their eyes connected, so did their hearts.
"Their hearts?!" Caroline asked incredulous, voice booming throughout the room.
Hope's heart reached out to her and she realized why. Malia was troubled, she was troubled. Malia had a hard past, she had a hard past.
Hayley nodded with a small smile. She knew they would connect in some sort of way.
And Hope guessed that was why she bent down and pulled the naked girl into a gentle hug.
