she didn't need a weapon at all — when she was born one.
SCOTT WAS PACING around Sheriff Stilinski's office, while Hope and Stiles were huddled around his phone, listening to Allison explain what Lydia had translated from the bestiary.
Turns out, the Kanima doesn't seek a friend, it seeks a master. Meaning someone had been using him to kill people, that there's someone out there who has a homicidal vendetta.
"I still don't like Jackson, though," Lizzie stated, and most of everyone nodded in agreement.
"If Jackson doesn't know what he's doing, then he probably doesn't know that someone's controlling him."
Hope tapped her foot and sighed heavily. This was kinda like the monster situation back home where they were controlled by Malivore, wanting only one thing — the keys to awaken him.
"So, monsters were sent after you guys because Malivore wanted to be brought back...?" Alaric trailed off, trying to understand.
"Pretty much, yeah," Lizzie nodded.
"It was mostly after Landon though," Kaleb stated, and when Landon turned him, he shrugged. "What? I'm not wrong. Everything was fine until you activated that knife."
"So, what I'm hearing," Klaus slowly stood up, "that you're the reason why my daughter had to fight monsters."
Landon gulped, "essentially."
Hayley pursed her lips. "Essentially or yes?"
Landon turned his terrified gaze to Hayley, who Hope looks like in a lot of ways, except for the eyes, that's all Klaus. "Uh... ye—yes."
Hayley's eye twitched. "We'll deal with you after this whole thing is over."
Klaus narrowed eyes eyes at the curly haired boy. "What she said," and he slowly sat back down.
And it's not like they can do much at the moment seeing as they're waiting for Noah to come talk to them. They still have to figure out if Jackson was going to press charges against them, seeing as though they did kidnap him.
"Or he doesn't remember," Scott offered, leaning against the desk that Stiles and Hope were leaning against.
"What if it's the same kind of thing that happened with Lydia when she took off from the hospital?" Stiles asked, which confused Hope for a second before she recalled everything they had told her. Lydia had been bitten by a sociopath named Peter, and she stayed in the hospital, but then disappeared for a day in the woods — naked.
"Bitten?" Caroline questioned.
"Maybe that's why she's immune," Elena stated with a tilt of her head.
"A fugue state."
"He'd have to forget everything. The murder," Scott began, frowning.
"Getting rid of the blood," Hope continued, biting her lip. "But... he had help with one thing though, the video." She walked away from the desk and spun around to face them. "Maybe someone else helped him forget that."
Scott nodded in agreement before saying, "Whoever's controlling him."
"Are you sure Jackson has no clue about any of this?" Allison asked in confusion.
Stiles shook his head. "No, he thinks he's still becoming a werewolf and that being with Lydia somehow delayed the whole thing."
"Of course he would blame the girl," Bonnie snarked.
"So, do we try to convince him he's not?"
"If it helps us find out who's controlling him, then yeah." Scott nodded, rubbing his temple.
"I mean, do you think he'll talk to us after what we did?" Stiles questioned, looking back and forth between Hope and Scott.
"Yeah, it's us. He'll talk to us."
Lizzie whistled, "yeah... I don't think he will."
"I agree," Caroline said. "He will definitely hold this against them for the rest of his life."
THE TRIO FOUND themselves seated on cold metal chairs at a large metal table with Jackson and his father.
Sheriff Stilinski stood at the end of the table, reading off their punishment/guidelines/rules for kidnapping Jackson.
"You will not go within fifty feet of Jackson Whittemore," Stilinski began, eyeing the three of them. "You will not speak to him. You will not approach him. You will not assault or harass him physically or psychologically."
The clipboard then fell against the surface of the table, and everyone silent for a long moment. Mr. Whittemore, Melissa McCall, and Sheriff Stilinski all stood around the table, staring down at the three teens in disappointment.
"What about school?" Stiles suddenly asked.
"You can attend classes while attempting to maintain a fifty-foot distance."
"Okay, what if we both have to use the bathroom at the same time and there's only two stalls available and they're only right next to each other?" Stiles rambled, making absurd hand motions which had Hope raising a brow at him.
"Oh my god," Caroline face-palmed. Elena and Bonnie giggled.
"He's so stupid," Lizzie groaned into her hands.
"He has a valid point, though," MG stated while hd sucked on an animal blood lollipop.
But, Melissa, Mr. Whittemore, and the Sheriff all crossed their arms over their chests in annoyance.
Stiles looked around uncomfortably. "I'll just hold it."
Once the three teens all agreed to follow and not break the restraining order, Stilinski immediately snatched Stiles out of his seat and out of the room, leaving Scott and Hope to glance around the room awkwardly.
The duo stood up, glanced to one another, and then exited the room.
"We filled the tank!" Stiles exclaimed as the rest of them slipped out of the room. Hope snorted and shook her head at the boy.
"Move!" Melissa commanded when Scott paused briefly to look at Stiles. "Come on, Hope." The auburn haired girl's eyes widened briefly before she followed Melissa and Scott. She had the same tone that her mother always used to use on her when she got in trouble.
Hayley grinned, "it's a mother thing."
"It's not just this," Melissa stated as she looked between them, but mostly focusing on Scott. "Although, a restraining order is a new low that I didn't think you would reach quite this soon. It's everything on top of it. The completely bizarre behavior, the late nights coming home, having to beg Mr. Harris for you to make up that Chemistry test that you missed."
Scott's eyes widened. "I missed a Chemistry test?"
Hope rose a brow at the boy before shaking her head. She always makes sure to get her homework done as quick as possible so if a monster problem popped up, she had everything covered. That's one of the things that came in handy in Mystic Falls.
"She must be a top student," Alaric stated with a small smile.
Lizzie swallowed as she glanced back at her father, feeling that same jealousy that used to creep in before her and Hope became friends.
"Really, Scott? Really?" Melissa asked in disbelief. "I have to ground you. I am grounding you. You are grounded." She then turned to Hope and gave her a look. "You're both grounded." Hope opened her mouth, but she held up her hand. "I was really hoping you wouldn't pick up their habits, especially this soon."
"What about work?" Scott asked, noticing Stiles was now standing behind his mom.
"Fine. Other than work," Melissa agreed. "And no TV."
"The TV's broken." Scott sighed.
"Then no computer," Melissa recapitulated, narrowing her eyes.
"I need the computer for school."
Melissa grew more and more frustrated, turning her head to glance at Stiles. "Then no... uh — no Stiles."
"Plssss", Lizzie snorted, "this is so entertaining."
"It really is," Josie nodded in agreement.
Stiles lunged forward and exclaimed, "What? No Stiles?"
"No Stiles!" Melissa shouted angrily, and he immediately cowered back into his spot. "And no more car privileges. Give me your keys." Scott sighed, Melissa growing more angered by the second, she stomped her foot and hollered, "Give'em to me!"
"Damn!" Hayley whistled. "I need to learn a few things from her."
"She reminds me of my mom," Caroline stated with a fond smile. "I wonder if she still does that, even years from now."
Josie and Lizzie once again shared a look, feeling their own hearts break for their mother.
Hope's eyes were full blown wide now as she stared at Melissa.
Scott dug through his pocket and pulled out his set of keys. Melissa began to struggled with the process of getting the key off of the chain, letting out a sigh annoyance. "Oh, for the love of God."
"Mom, do you want me to—"
"No."
"Mom, come on, let me just—" She shook her head, interrupting him. "Mom." Scott wrapped both of his hands around her's and she let out a soft sigh before looking up at her son.
"He's such a sweet son," Freya said with a small smile, thinking back to how she has a son. Who is not here right now... she jumped out of her seat. Upon all the chaos, she completely forgot about her own wife and son. "Oh my god! Where is Nik and Keelin?!"
Everyone turned to her with furrowed brows.
The other Originals noticed their sisters panic, and began to worry.
"What are you talking about, sister?" Rebekah asked, approaching her slowly.
"My wife and son!" Freya exclaimed. "He's only five months!"
"Your wife and child is fine, Freya," the author stated fondly. "And they will continue to be fine. Trust me."
Freya stared down at her wedding ring with wide eyes. "I sure hope they're fine." She looked up slowly at the ceiling, "or else."
Klaus smirked, "that's my sister."
Hayley looked between them with wide eyes, "wait... son and wife?"
Freya nodded, breathing heavily as she sat back down in her seat. "You remember Keelin, right? Well, I married her and we have a son together. Vincent is the surrogate. His name is Nik."
Klaus paused for a second, feeling his heart melt in his chest. "You named your son after me?" He is shocked. He loved his dear sister, but he never thought they were close enough, especially for her to name her son after him.
Freya nodded with a smile. "Of course, brother."
"What is going on with you?" Melissa questioned, growing more confused with her son's rare and bizarre behavior. "Is this about Allison?"
Hope looked to Stiles who was shaking his head at Scott.
Scott looked away from his mom briefly to make eye contact with his two friends before letting out a long sigh. "Do you really wanna know?"
"Yeah,"
Stiles' head began to shake back and forth once more — and even faster than before. Scott glanced at Stiles and then Hope, his mouth agape. "Uh..."
"Is this about your father?"
Stiles then nodded his head rapidly, and Hope was surprised that it hasn't flown off yet.
"I'm sorry, but that would be so funny," Lizzie stated with a chuckle.
Scott instantly grew more conflicted, upon knowing that the absence of his father was causing him some issues.
Hope's heart broke and she had to look away seeing as she knew what it was like to have an absent father. She knew what it was like to feel like trash to the one person that mattered the most.
Klaus frowned, shaking his head. "She's the most precious thing in my life," he said, his eyes stinging. "How could she think this?"
"You spent so many years ignoring her, Klaus," Hayley stated sadly. "She always tried to call you or send mail to you, but you never answered or responded. She thought you hated her for so long."
"I could never hate her," Klaus said harshly. "I would kill myself before I even tried to hate her. What I did, I thought it was protecting her. I never..." he trailed off, shaking his head.
"It is, isn't it?" Melissa asked softly, her body stiffening. "Okay, you know what...we'll talk about this at home. I'm going to go get the car." With that being said, she exited the building.
Scott watched her leave sadly as Stiles placed himself between them. And the three of them stood in the doorway, watching Sheriff Stilinski and Mr. Whittemore argue.
"I'm the worst son ever," Scott stated, sighing heavily.
"Well, I'm not exactly winning any prizes either," Stiles told them, looking conflicted, too.
Hope bit her lip before exhaling. "I think I am the icing on the cake. You don't even know what I did just to see my own father."
"What the hell could she have done that was so bad?" Damon asked, raising a brow at the Original family.
Klaus and Hayley shared a look, Elijah sighed as he fiddled with the sleeve of his suit, Freya ran a hand down her face, and Rebekah snacked on some strawberry's covered in chocolate.
Scott and Stiles looked to her, confused for a second before they were interrupted when Mr. Whittemore was threw a clipboard and shouted at Sheriff Stilinski. He hollered something about the restroom thing, and that's when they all knew that the argument was all Stiles' doing.
Stiles scratched the back of his neck and looked away sheepishly. "Well, shucks, I wouldn't have said that if I knew he would be throwing a fit."
Hope and Scott shared a look before shaking their heads at their friend.
Lizzie busted out in laughter. "Why is he me?"
Kol snickered, "I'm adopting him, he's my new choas bestie."
Lizzie pouted, "what about me?"
"Beside you, little lady," Kol grinned.
THE NEXT DAY at school, Allison had informed them that Gerard had put new security cameras up around the entire school, taking every single precaution to keep Allison away from Scott.
Klaus smirked, "sounds like something I would do."
Hayley rolled her eyes. "Of course you would, asshat."
A few people snickered at that.
"Supernatural reference!" Lizzie pointed in excitement. She and Josie used to stay up on school nights to binge watch the show. She's a Dean girl, through and through.
That was why the trio was currently standing in an aisle of bookshelves in the library, waiting for Allison to make her way over to the other side of them.
Finally, Allison made her way over into the aisle, sliding a tablet through the bookshelf and Scott reached out for it.
Lydia was the one to decode all of the Archaic Latin for the Kanima section in the bestiary. And Hope couldn't help but feel impressed by the strawberry blonde.
"I think I really like Lydia now," Caroline commented. "She's not only beautiful, but also a genius." Elena and Bonnie nodded in agreement.
Hopefully, whatever was on the page, could be the thing that helps them save Jackson's life.
"It's everything Lydia can translate. And trust me, she was very confused," Allison whispered, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear.
Scott continued to scroll through the information on the tablet. "Yeah, what'd you tell her?"
Allison made a face before answering, "That we were part of an online gaming community that battles mythical creatures."
Hope, Scott, and Allison snickered, while Stiles' face remained motionless as he deadpanned, "I am part of an online gaming community that battles mythical creatures."
Allison's face fell, "Oh."
Hope bit the inside of her cheek as she tried to not snort loudly. Even though she was stuck in another universe — or whatever — and still had a monster problem, this was kinda breath of fresh air.
MG frowned at that, "did she hate it here?"
"Wouldn't you?" Lizzie asked, and then rolled her eyes when MG looked at her with a lost puppy expression. "At every corner, Hope is reminded of people she has lost. And not only that, she had to keep putting her own life on the line for pyromaniac pigeon over here," she gestured to a frowning Landon with her thumb.
Kol snickered loudly, "I am so taking notes of these nicknames!"
Hayley looked to Klaus with a small smile, reaching over to hold his hand. "I am so happy she is feeling more at home than she would here, to be honest."
"As do I," Klaus nodded.
"Okay, does it say how to find out who's controlling him?" Scott asked, getting back to the task at hand, continuing to scan the page on the tablet.
"Not really." Allison shook her head. "But Stiles and Hope was right about the murderers." At that, Stiles pumped his fist into the air and made gestures of his victory. "It calls the Kanima a weapon of vengeance. There's a story in there about this South American priest who uses the Kanima to execute murderers in his village."
"All right, see? So maybe it's not all that bad."
"Until the bond grew strong enough that it killed whoever he wanted it to."
"All bad, all very, very bad," Stiles mumbled, eyes wide with horror.
"Here's the thing, though. The Kanima's actually supposed to be a werewolf. But it can't be—"
"Until it resolves that in its past which manifested it," Scott finished, reading from the tablet aloud.
"Okay, if that means that Jackson could use a few thousand hours of therapy, I could've told you that myself," Stiles pointed out and Hope nodded along.
"Yeah, even I could tell you that, and I'm not one to talk," Lizzie mumbled, crossing her arms.
Caroline frowned, "what's that suppose to mean?"
Lizzie's eyes widened as she tried to not look at her mother. "N—nothing." She didn't want her mother to know about her mental health, not when most of the people currently in the room doesn't know her as 'Crazy Lizzie'.
"What if it has something to do with his parents? His real parents," Allison suggested, frowning.
"Yeah, does anybody actually know what happened to them?" Scott questioned, knowing Jackson never liked talking about his personal life.
Hope glanced between them. "Lydia might, seeing as she dated him."
"What if she doesn't know anything?" Scott countered.
"I'll go talk to him," Hope announced, earning confused glances from Scott and Stiles. "Well, seeing as I'm the strongest out of you all, so if he tries anything, I can take him down."
"Hell yeah she is," Kaleb stated with a grin.
Scott looked worried. "Okay, but what do I do?"
She gave him a smirk, "You have a make up exam, remember?"
Scott's hand reached out and touched her shoulder. "If he does anything—"
"He's worried just like a brother should be!" Caroline exclaimed, "so cute!"
Hope rolled her eyes. "I can take care of myself, Scott. Plus, what could he do to me?"
Stiles' head shot between them, "Anything evil!"
Hope gave him a deadpan look and placed her palm on Stiles' face, pushing him back which caused him to stumble backward and smack into the bookshelf.
Everyone chuckled at the boy as he fumbled with books in his hands.
"I really hope she doesn't fall for that clumsy human," Klaus grumbled.
Hayley and Rebekah shared a smirk, knowing that she is well on her way with falling in love with Stiles. And honestly, they support it.
SEEING AS THE Sheriff contacted the school about Hope having a rough life — she was forced to go to therapy sessions. But, seeing as she had enough with therapy back in Mystic Falls, she decided to skip it and look for Jackson.
Hayley frowned, "she is forced to go to therapy?"
Lizzie shrugged, "it's mandatory at the school."
"Sometimes forced therapy won't help," Elena said, knowing that Jenna had made her go to therapy just a few days after the accident, and it honestly just made her feel worse rather than better. "It has to be their decision whether they want to go and get help or not."
And okay, maybe she's a bit of s hypocrite because she tried so hard to help Jeremy after he started to do drugs. But, that was something someone had to put their foot down for. And upon knowing how Jeremy felt, Elena felt like she was the best choose to help her baby brother with their losses. She definitely regrets some things that she had done to protect her brother, but she always did what she thought was best at the time.
Upon hearing shouts and groans of pain coming from the locker room, she quickly swung the door open, and stormed in.
"Hello?" She called out with narrowed eyes.
"In here!" Jackson shouted and she slowly walked towards the showers where his voice could be heard.
"Oh, my—" She turned around quickly upon seeing a naked Jackson under the shower.
"Nope! Stay away from naked boys!" Klaus exclaimed, and Kol snickered at him. He glared at his younger brother. "Shut it!"
"Something wrong?"
"A warning could've been nice!" Hope snapped before taking a few steps away from the shower.
"You're the one that walked into the locker room, Hope."
She clenched her jaw. "I thought I heard something. It doesn't matter now. Can you put your pants on so we can talk normally?" She felt so uncomfortable because she has never seen someone naked, let out been in the same room when someone was changing.
"Good," Klaus nodded, satisfied that his daughter hasn't been tainted yet.
The next thing she knew Jackson was standing in front of her. Still naked. Smirking, he shook his head. "No, let's talk now."
"Oh, hell no!" Hayley growled as she stood up, eyes glowing brightly.
"He better get away from her," Caroline spat.
Stefan rolled his eyes, "she can take care of herself."
Bonnie glared at him, "shut it, Stefan!" She turned to the screen, jaw clenched. "He's a pervert."
"Disgusting," Elena spat out, wanting to reach through the screen and get him away from Hope.
She made sure to keep eye contact with him. "Move out of my way. Or else."
He smiled and tilted his head. "What are you going to do? Kiss me? Please. I want you to."
"Back the hell away from me." She shoved at him and moved past him. But, his gripped her wrist, and turned her around to face him. "Let go of me now or I won't hold back."
"Let go of her!" Rebekah shouted, throwing her shoe at the screen, it hitting him square on the forehead. "Let go of my niece!"
"Keep your hands to yourself!" Klaus roared, zooming at the screen, trying to tear Jackson up, but the screen kept fixing itself.
"He's such a sleazeball!" Lizzie exclaimed, disgusted.
"It's not like you have a boyfriend or anything." He smirked and leaned closer to her. Her face heated up, and she stumbled backwards. It wasn't because she was weak — no. She just felt so uncomfortable to be in the presence of a naked boy. "I mean... you're not even hot enough to catch the attention of anyone. Well, you have a nice rack, but other than that — nothing."
"Oh, that's it, let me at him!" Hayley roared as she joined Klaus at trying to tear the screen up.
"Incendia!" Lizzie and Josie shouted as they joined hands, throwing fire balls at the screen. But the screen kept deflecting everything.
Hope rose a brow, not caring about his words because she never cared about her looks. "You're pathetic, little boy." She punched him so hard in the nose, he stumbled backwards.
"Yes, that's my girl!" Klaus panted out as everyone stood back from the screen, knowing that Hope has it handled, although everyone is still angry and disgusted at Jackson.
Quickly, she swiped at his legs, but because of his tight grip on her arm, she fell with him.
He landed on top of her and he froze as his eyes came in contact with hers. "Hope?"
She frowned and watched as he stumbled up and pulled on a pair of a shorts. "What?"
Before anything could he said, the swung open and Hope turned to stare at Scott who looked furious. Jackson didn't even have his shorts up all the way so Hope quickly caught on what Scott must've thought happened.
"Yes! Beat him up!" Rebekah shouted, throwing her hands in the air.
"Get him good, Scott!" The Super Squad shouted.
"Sco—"
Scott ran at Jackson, taking him down full force. He threw Jackson into the lockers, and Hope jumped up to her feet.
"I have a restraining order!"
"Trust me, I'm restraining myself!"
"Yes!" Elena and Caroline shouted, jumping out of their seats to cheer Scott on.
Bonnie grinned, "you go, Scott!"
Jackson got up from the lockers and from there it was chaos. Hope watched with wide eyes as they fought. Once the sink broke under their weight, Hope shouted, "Stop!" The boys flung away from one another. Jackson was thrown through the door and outside inside the hallway.
"Damn, girl!" Kaleb exclaimed,
But, seeing as Scott was still furious, he jumped up from his crouched position, and went to continue the fight out in the hallway.
Hope sighed heavily and ran into the hallway. She made eye contact with Stiles who was joined by Erica. He looked at her with wide, confused eyes.
Nodding to one another, Hope and Stiles quickly grabbed Scott, and yanked him away from Jackson who was getting pulled away by Erica.
Allison pushes through the crowd and joined them, her eyes wide as Scott and Jackson still tried to fight one another. "What happened?"
"What the hells going on?" A voice boomed, making all heads turn to see that Harris jogging over, coming just a few seconds after Allison did. "Hey, enough! Enough! What do you idiots think you're doing? Jackson, calm down! Mr. McCall, can you explain yourself? Stilinski? McCall? Anyone?"
While Harris was shouting at them, Matt leaned over to hand Allison's tablet back to Scott, who had been using it at the time. "Here, you dropped this." The tablet hadn't made it to Scott though because Harris had ripped it from the boys hand before he could even manage to touch it.
"You and you," Harris said, pointing towards Scott and Jackson. Then, he reconsidered it, "Actually, all of you. Detention, three o'clock."
"What the fuck?!" Lizzie exclaimed. "How is that fair?"
"Jackson shouldn't be alive right now!" Hayley growled out.
"I hope he lives, so that when I get out of here, I can torture him myself," Klaus smirked as many evil thoughts swam around in his head.
HOPE WALKED INTO the library for detention, sighing. Melissa definitely wasn't going to be happy with them.
Everyone entered at the same time, walking into library in a straight and orderly line.
Hope made her way over to where Scott and Stiles sat. But that meant that she had to sit by Erica, across from the Stilinski.
"We can't be in detention together. I have a restraining order against these tools," Jackson told Harris, pointing to the table where Scott, Stiles, and Hope was sitting.
"All of these tools?" Harris asked skeptically.
Stiles shook his head. "No. Just us tools." He pointed to himself, Scott, and Hope.
"Fine," Harris points toward another table. "You three, over there."
The trio collected their bags, stood up, and got themselves positioned at their designated table.
"I'm going to kill him," Scott announced simply, still fuming about seeing Jackson naked near Hope. She was pretty much his responsibility and he did care for her like a sister.
"Awww," Rebekah cooed. "Hope has a big brother now."
"No, you're not," Stiles stated, holding a finger out in front of his face. "You're going to find out who's controlling him and then you're going to help save him."
"No. You were right, let's kill him."
"What happened in the locker room that was so bad that Scott wants to kill Jackson?" Stiles asked Hope, leaning forward slightly.
Hope sighed. "It was weird. He wasn't himself and he tried to — well, he tried to do something that isn't appropriate. But, after I literally knocked some sense into him, it seemed to snap him out of whatever daze he was in. Scott walked in at the wrong movement, and well — we're here now."
"Inappropriate how?" Stiles inquired, glancing over at Jackson with narrowed eyes.
Hope licked her lips, "it's not important right now."
"It is important!" Bonnie shouted, eyes wide.
"There's the Hope I know, keeping everything bottled inside," Lizzie said with a sigh.
It was quiet for several minutes; Harris had gone over to the desk in the library while everyone else found something to occupy their time. Scott, Hope, and Stiles were just intently staring at each other. None of them knew what to say.
"Hey," Stiles mumbled and they rose a brow at him. "What if it's Matt? I mean, this whole thing comes back to the video, right?"
"Danny said that Matt was the one who found the two hours of footage missing." Scott countered, not looking concerned.
"Exactly," Stiles states, "He's trying to throw suspicion off himself."
Lizzie tilted her head, "why do I get the feeling he's probably correct?"
Josie shrugged, "I don't know, but I get that feeling too."
"Well, I don't personally know him," Hope spoke up with a sigh. "But, why would he make Jackson kill Isaac's dad, one of Argent's hunters, and the mechanic working on your jeep?"
"Because," Stiles grimaced, "He's evil."
The three teens glanced over at Matt; he was casually popping a piece of popcorn in his mouth.
Scott turned back to look at Stiles. "You just don't like him."
"The guy bugs me," Stiles confessed, continuing to stare over at Matt. "I don't know what it is. Just look at his face."
"Any other theories?"
Suddenly, the sound of pained gasps reached their ears. They whirled around to see Jackson was furiously rubbing at the sides of his head. He quickly stood from his chair, a pained expression written on his face.
"You okay?" Matt asked, looking worried.
Jackson quickly stood from his seat, grabbing his backpack. "I have to go to the bathroom." He barely managed to get out, letting out another gasp of pain.
"Are you all right?" Harris asked, staring at Jackson in concern. "Hey, you don't look so good."
"Maybe it's Harris," Bonnie said with a tilt of her head. "Because he never shows that kind of concern for any of the other students."
Damon shrugged, "it probably has to do with how loaded Jackson's parents are."
"I just need some water," Jackson assured, rushing out of the library.
Harris stood up; "No one leaves their seats." he then backed away, following Jackson out of the library.
As his silhouette disappeared, Stiles, Scott, and Hope immediately stood up and slid back into their original seats by Erica.
"Stiles says you know how Jackson's parents died."
"Maybe," Erica answered vaguely, not even glancing up from the notebook she was doodling in.
Hope growled lowly. "I am not in the mood. So, speak or I make you speak."
Klaus and Hayley smirked, "that's our girl."
Erica rolled her eyes; shut her notebook before looking at the three of them. "It was a car accident. My dad was the insurance investigator, and every time he sees Jackson drive by in his Porsche, he makes some comment about the huge settlement he'll be getting when he's eighteen."
Elena frowned. Car accident?
"So not only is Jackson rich now, but he's getting richer at eighteen?" Stiles blinked in astonishment.
"Yep."
"There's something so deeply wrong with that."
"You know what?" Erica asked, leaning forward to open her laptop. "I can try to find the insurance report in my dad's inbox. He keeps everything."
She typed away at her computer, and the trio glanced to one another.
The sound of the PA system began to crackle a little, and everyone glanced up at the speaker in the ceiling. "Scott McCall, please report to the principal's office."
The voice of Victoria Argent caused four specific teenagers' eyes widened in surprise, all of them glancing at each other in confusion and horror.
Hope immediately remembered Allison's grandfather cutting a werewolf in half. She placed her arm on Scott's shoulder. "Text me if something goes wrong. I will come and rescue you." Melissa had given her one of Scott's old phone's that she had put in a box. It wasn't perfect, but Hope didn't care. Hell, she didn't have a phone in Mystic Falls.
"No phones?" Bonnie asked. "How did you guys find one another?"
"Locator spells," Josie said, matter of factly.
"It's always easy to find someone if you're a witch," Lizzie said with a grin.
"Plus, most of the time, we were in the school. It might be big, but it's not too hard to find someone," MG stated, shrugging as he threw some mini m&m's in his mouth.
Scott awkwardly stood from his seat, grabbed his backpack and left the library.
Jackson and Mr. Harris soon slipped back into library whilst Hope and Stiles leaned over Erica's shoulder, watching as she searched through the files in attempt to find the one involving Jackson's birth parents.
Erica clicked on a tab, and Stiles quickly called out, "Look at the dates."
"Passengers arrived at the hospital DOA. The estimated time of death 9:26p.m., June 14, 1995," Erica read the report aloud.
"Jackson's birthday is June 15th," Stiles pointed out.
The sound of a zipper being pulled erupted throughout the library, signaling that Harris was collecting his things and that detention was over.
Everyone began to gather their things as well, pushing themselves out of their seats and making their way toward the door, but everyone froze when Harris' laugh echoed around them.
"No, I'm sorry," he chuckled. "Yes, I'm leaving. But none of you are. You may go when you're done with the re-shelving." He patted his palms of his hands down on two of the four carts filled with books. "Enjoy the rest of your evening."
"Fucking dick wipe," Lizzie spat out. "I'm so glad we have never had a teacher like that."
Hope glared at him and dropped her bag down on the table. "I want to burn him alive."
"Me too," pretty much everyone, except Stefan, agreed.
Stiles nodded. "Me too." He then paused and stared at her with wide eyes. "Can you do that?"
She nodded with a smirk. "I can. But... I won't."
He frowned. "Dang, that sucks. I would've paid you a Hershey bar if you did it."
"A Hershey bar?" She smiled as they started putting away the books.
Rebekah smiled softly at them, "they're precious."
He nodded with a grin. "I don't have any money, so..."
Hope chuckled and shook her head as she began to trash for a tall shelf. She groaned in annoyance, but paused when Stiles gripped the book from her, and placed it on the shelf. She looked up at him with a small smile. "Thanks."
"You're welcome." He kept eye contact with her for a moment before they both cleared their throats and looked away.
Landon closed his eyes and breathed in deeply, feeling his heart ache. He's had a crush on Hope since he was fifteen, and he quickly fell in love with her when they reunited months ago. And now, here she is, staring at some other boy with the same look she used to have for him. It makes him feel sick.
A few moments went by before Scott returned. Quickly, Stiles, Allison, and Hope huddled in an aisle together. They told him all about what they learned about Jackson.
"It means he was born after his mom died by C-section. They had to pull him out of her dead body," Hope explained, feeling a surge of sadness shoot through her. For her, it was the opposite. She was taken from her mother at birth and then the witches sliced her mothers throat, killing her.
Caroline gasped, covering her mouth in horror. "What?" She turned to Hayley who was frowning and rubbing her stomach in remembrance. "That's true?"
Hayley nodded, swallowing thickly. "Yeah. They let me hold my daughter for a few seconds before they slit my throat."
Elena's eyes filled up with tears, "that's horrible. I am so sorry that you had to go through that."
Hayley sent them a small smile, "it was terrible, yes. But my daughter and I survived, and that's all that counts."
"So. was it an accident or not?" Allison asked slowly and carefully, seeming hesitant to even speak.
"The word all over the report is: inconclusive," Stiles murmured.
Scott leaned in closer to the others, "Then his parents could have been murdered?"
"If they were, then it falls in line with the Kanima myth," Hope spoke up, and Allison nodded in agreement. "It seeks out and kills murderers."
"But for Jackson? Or for the person controlling him?" Allison asked quietly, causing the four of them to rethink everything they thought they knew.
Scott's eyes suddenly widened, a look of panic washing over his features as he quickly moved forward. "We have to talk to him. We have to tell him."
"He's not gonna—" Allison began, but Scott ignored her and made his way out of the aisle and toward Jackson.
He turned, stopping suddenly when he saw that a book was lying open in the middle of the floor. Scott moved toward it, but stopped for a moment, glancing down at it before hesitantly making his way toward it.
He looked down the aisle to his left and saw Matt lying on the floor, his face and chest pressed against the carpet, books lied scattered around him, like he had been fighting with someone. But the sight of something red caught Scott's attention, a surgical cut was made on the back of Matt's neck, something only the Kanima's claw could make.
Suddenly, Jackson's lizard body jumped over the aisle, his back smashing into the light above, causing it to fall and left to hang only by a flimsy wire. Sparks rained down from the ceiling, as several book soared off of their shelves and clattered on the floor.
Havoc erupted throughout the library.
Erica and Scott quickly shifted into their werewolf forms. Hope looked around with narrowed eyes, trying to get a clear view of Jackson.
And upon seeing a bookshelf start falling, Hope quickly jumped into action, and wrapped her arms around both Stiles and Allison, pulling them to the floor. She moved her body on top of theories, trying to protect the from the falling objects.
"Once a hero, always a hero," Lizzie commented with a fond shake of her head.
Erica yelled in distress, piercing the air and Hope felt panic settle into her chest.
Things continued to fly around them, a series of crashes could be heard. Scott backed out of the aisle he was in, only to see Jackson. Well, sort of. He wasn't the Kanima, and it wasn't Jackson. It looked like a hybrid between them both, taking on the form of a human was Kanima features.
Lizzie and Caroline scrunched up their noses, "ewww!"
Josie glanced between Lizzie and Caroline with a small frown; Lizzie has always taken more after their mother than her, but seeing it in action, kind of stings for some reason.
Jackson roared, his hands flying forward and slamming against Scott's chest, sending him flying against a cart of books and onto his back. Scott let out a groan before he pulled himself up and slide into the aisle where Hope, Allison, and Stiles were. He crouched protectively in front of them as they watched Jackson.
"They're so protective of one another," Freya whispered.
"I am so happy that Hope has finally found her pack," Hayley commented, sharing a smile with Klaus.
They watched as his body began to go limp, his head lolling to the side as he stood in front of the chalk board. One hand lazily reached out for the chalk, almost as though he were a robot being controlled.
The chalk screeched across the board, the words began to form and all four of them tenses as the message became clear.
STAY OUT OF MY WAY OR I WILL KILL ALL OF YOU !
Jackson then shot upward, flinging himself through the window, allowing shards of glass to rain down into the library. They hesitantly stood up from their crouched positions, the lights that flickered caused a thick sense of eeriness to fell upon the room. But something caught Stiles' eye.
Lying on the ground was Erica. Her body was convulsing and twitching violently, like she was having a seizure.
But what confused Hope was that Erica was a werewolf, she shouldn't be epileptic anymore.
Lizzie frowned, "I feel so bad for her."
Stiles rushed toward her, wrapping an arm around her body. "Hey! I think she's having a seizure."
Scott and Hope were quick to attend to Erica, while Allison made her way toward Matt to make sure that he was still breathing.
Allison pressed her fingers to his neck. "He's alive!"
"Hey, we need to get her to a hospital," Stiles announced, staring down at the convulsing teenager in his arms.
"No," Erica protested, sweat building up on her forehead. "Derek. Take me to Derek."
"Why him?!" Most people exclaimed.
Hope sighed but nodded. "Alright."
Scott nodded before rushing over to Allison. Hope looked down at Erica and frowned. Was that what she was like with Landon? She always worried about him more than the others which quickly caused some problems.
"Yes!" Lizzie exclaimed loudly. "That's exactly what it was like!"
Klaus and Hayley furrowed their brows. Sure, they have a history of putting their family above others, but they never saw a problem with it. But now, seeing how Hope put someone she loved first before others, they could see a fault in it.
"Scott, come on!" Stiles shouted as Hope took matters into her own hands, and gently picked Erica up into her arms before running out of the library.
Lizzie gulped, "fuck, that's kind of hot."
Caroline, Bonnie, Elena, and Josie nodded in agreement.
THEY RUSHED INTO Derek's hideout which happened to be an abandoned train station.
"Hold her up!" Derek demanded and Stiles rushes into action, propping up the half of her body while he held her legs to try and keep her still.
Hope gripped Erica's hand and muttered a calming spell, but it didn't seem to be working on the blonde. Whatever the Kanima did to her — it was bad.
"Is she dying?" Stiles asked with wide eyes.
"She might, I... which is why this is gonna hurt." Derek grabbed a hold of Erica's arm, twisting it until there was a sickening snap and Erica started to scream in pain.
"What the fuck?!"
"Ouch!"
"You broke her arm!" Stiles cried out and Hope bit her lip, wanting to understand what Derek's thought process was.
"It'll trigger the healing process," he told Stiles gruffly. "I still gotta get the venom out. This is where it's really gonna hurt them."
Before anyone could react, Derek's claw dug deep into Erica's arm, blood oozing out of her arm, and a deafening scream escaped her.
Soon enough, her scream died down and she fell into Stiles' arms. She breathed in weakly and stared up at him. "Stiles... you'd make a good Batman."
"Batman?" Hope teased lightly.
Stiles blushed deeply and looked away.
