Chapter One: Gathering Everyone
Nobody's Pov
Heartbreak was the worst.
But what's even worse is finding out that your lover, someone you thought you could trust, cheated on you.
That's how Kurt Hummel felt.
During his time in New York he was feeling lonely. Don't get him wrong, he loved being in New York alongside his best friend, Rachel Berry.
But he missed his hometown. He missed his friends, his brother, his stepmother and his father.
And he definitely missed his boyfriend. Blaine Anderson.
His first boyfriend. His first love. His soulmate.
Kurt thought that he and Blaine were going to be each others forever. He thought that they would reunite in New York once Blaine finished highschool and they would start their lives together.
Unfortunately, that wasn't the case.
Because when Blaine had come to visit Kurt in New York it was awkward and full of some tension.
Especially when Blaine had been acting weird the entire visit.
When they were walking around in the park a bit late at night Kurt had asked him what was wrong because he was confused, worried and annoyed.
He honestly regrets asking.
Or maybe he didn't, he wasn't sure.
Because Blaine had confessed that he had cheated on him.
Kurt will remember the way his heart dropped all the way to his stomach, he will remember the feeling of dread and betrayal coursing through his body.
What made the confession worse was that Blaine had tried to put the blame on him, saying that he tried to spend time with him but Kurt was either busy or just wasn't there for him like he was before.
Kurt understands that he didn't make time for Blaine but he had a life too, he was busy with work and college.
Things that were extremely important in his life.
Kurt remembers going off on him telling him that being in a long distance relationship wasn't easy and that he too has had temptations but, unlike Blaine, never acted upon them and remained loyal to his boyfriend.
Because he knew what would happen if he had given in.
He loved Blaine and wasn't going to ruin their relationship by cheating.
But it looks like Blaine wasn't in the same boat as him.
Kurt remembers running off, not wanting to hear anymore of Blaine's excuses or apologies, and he didn't stop until he was back at his and Rachel's place.
He remembers locking the front door and collapsing on the ground while crying his eyes out.
He managed to calm down after about an hour of crying. And when he did he got up from the ground and made his way into his room.
He got his suitcase out and began stuffing his clothes and other belongings into the suitcase. He only packed what he needed, what was important and meaningful to him, before zipping up his suitcase.
After writing a letter for Rachel to find for when she, along with Finn and Blaine, returned home he got his jacket on and left.
He only left with what he had on along with his suitcase.
He had left his phone and other electronics behind. He didn't want anyone to locate where he was.
He hoped that the letter would put everyone at ease. He wants them to know that he will be gone for a while since he needs time for himself and doesn't want anyone coming to find him to bring him home.
Lima Ohio definitely wasn't home, even if he did grow up there, and New York wasn't home either.
He had to go somewhere else to start fresh. He needed to get away from everything and just clear his head.
Something he would come to regret.
Or something he would come to think of as the best decision he ever made
At The Hudson Hummel House
Burt Hummel sighed as he plopped down on the couch, feeling tired and frustrated.
He had just gotten back from work but before coming home he made a phone call to the police department in New York to ask if they had any leads.
And as always, they didn't.
They had no leads on his son.
The son that went missing the day he found out his now ex-boyfriend, Blaine Anderson, cheated on him.
The son that left without a trace, only leaving a letter for Rachel to find.
Burt will always remember the day Rachel called him in a hurry. He remembers the panic in her tone as she told him that Kurt was gone, along with all of his things, and that he left behind his phone and other electronics.
Burt thought it was a prank but it wasn't, especially when Rachel sent him a photo of the letter Kurt had left.
He remembers calling Carole, who had been at work that day, and telling her what Rachel told her before calling Mr. Schue to ask if he heard from Kurt.
When Mr. Schue told him that he hadn't seen or heard from Kurt he grew even more scared.
He didn't tell Mr. Schue anything since he didn't want to worry the man or have him telling any of Kurt's friends to tell them what he told him.
He wanted to wait until he and Carole were in New York to gain more information from Rachel, Finn and Blaine.
When their plane landed in New York the three of them had been waiting for them.
Almost immediately he and Carole bombarded them with questions.
Rachel had been the one to tell them that she, Finn and Blaine returned to her and Kurt's place but Kurt wasn't there and all his belongings were gone.
Burt had asked who was the last person to see him and Blaine said it was him.
Burt was worried when Blaine revealed he and Kurt had gotten into an argument that led to Kurt running away.
He asked what had happened and Blaine, quite hesitantly, told him that he had cheated on his son.
Burt remembers seeing red and punching Blaine in the face. He remembers wanting to hit him more but Carole had held him back while Rachel had gone to check on Blaine while Finn didn't say anything, he just glared at Blaine.
As much as Burt wanted to throw more hits at the Anderson male, he couldn't.
He and the others had to focus on the situation at hand and that was Kurt being missing.
They had gone to the police station and filed for a missing persons report.
They had shown the cops the letter Kurt left them and they said that they couldn't file a missing persons report since Kurt is an adult and the letter clearly indicated that he had left.
But due to their constant insistence the cops made the decision to help them.
They didn't do a full blown investigation but they did make sure to gather as much information as they could to find Kurt.
After that Burt and Carole along with Finn and Blaine had gone back to Lima Ohio.
Rachel still had to stay in New York since she that was her new home and she was attending college there.
She said goodbye to the others and promised to update them as best as she could or even call them if Kurt came back.
It didn't take long for Finn and Blaine to tell their friends, along with Mr. Schue, everything that happened.
And to say they were all worried would be an understatement of the century.
And to say that most of them were angry at Blaine for Kurt's disappearance is another understatement of the century.
They believe that if Blaine hadn't cheated on Kurt in the first place, if he remained loyal to Kurt, he would've never run off and he would still be in New York.
Burt definitely was on their side.
Even as months, nearly a year, has passed he would still blame Blaine for being the reason his son is gone.
For being the reason that his son has never returned let alone contacted him to tell him that he was safe or if he was in any danger.
Burt sighed and looked at the picture frame that had a picture of him and Kurt when he graduated.
"Where are you, son?" Burt softly asked.
Where was his son? Was he safe? Was he in danger?
He prays to god that Kurt wasn't in any sort of danger.
The thought of Kurt being hurt, or worse, makes him sick to his stomach.
Burt sighed and leaned forward to grab the remote to turn on the T.V, wanting to distract himself, when a bright light appeared out of nowhere.
Burt didn't get a chance to react to the bright light as it blinded him and he was knocked out.
In The Theater
Burt groaned as his body hit the ground, his hand coming up to the side of his head.
He felt bodies, tons of bodies, hitting the ground and before he knew it more groans were heard.
Burt pushed himself off the ground and once he sat up he took in his surroundings.
He was surprised to see Finn and his friends either sitting on the ground or standing while looking around in clear confusion and panic.
He turned around and saw the staff of McKinley all getting up from the ground, confused and panicked themselves.
And, this definitely surprised him, as he turned he saw the warblers slowly beginning to wake up.
To say he was confused would be an understatement.
Before he could say anything he heard a groan next to him and turned to see his wife, Carole Hudson Hummel, lying on the ground.
Burt got up and rushed towards her, kneeling at her side.
"Honey, are you alright? Are you hurt?" Burt hurriedly asked.
He scanned his wife up and down, searching for any injuries, while Carole smiled softly at her husband.
"I'm fine, honey. I promise. Confused and scared, but I'm fine" Carole reassured him.
Burt sighed in relief at that.
He helped her off the ground and wrapped an arm around her waist, keeping her close to him.
"Where are we?" Carole asked.
"Some sort of movie theater" Burt replied with a frown.
"But why are we here? More importantly, how did we get here?" Carole asked, confused.
Burt opened his mouth to say something when he heard someone yell out his and his wife's name.
They turned around and saw Finn running towards them with Rachel right behind him.
Once Finn reached his parents he immediately engulfed them into a tight hug.
"Oh thank god you two are alright" Finn breathed out.
Burt and Carole looked at each other and smiled before hugging their son back just as tightly.
"We're fine, sweetie" Carole reassured her son.
"Yeah, bud. Nothing to worry about" Burt nodded.
Finn nodded and squeezed the two of them before pulling back.
Rachel hugged the two of them before pulling back and moving to stand at Finn's side.
"Do either of you know what's going on?" Carole asked.
"No, we don't. We're just as confused as you, and everyone else, are" Finn said.
"Alright, well what happened? How did you two get here?" Burt asked.
"Finn and I were on a date, we went to a restaurant and we were just finishing our meal when this bright light appeared out of nowhere and blinded us" Rachel explained.
"The same thing happened to me while I was grocery shopping" Carole said.
"And me when I was at home ready to watch T.V" Burt added.
Finn and Rachel frowned and glanced at each other before looking back at the adults.
"Do you think that's what happened to everyone else?" Finn asked.
"I believe so" Carole nodded.
Burt frowned, his body beginning to tense up in worry.
Why were they all here? Was there a purpose for them being here?
He opened his mouth to say something when the loud sound of someone clapping their hands was heard.
Almost immediately everyone fell silent with a few people tensing up.
"Ah, good. You're all awake".
Everyone turned their heads around and saw a woman that looked around her thirties wearing a long dress along with some accessories on her arms, neck and even her head.
Burt immediately pushed Carole behind him with Finn doing the same to Rachel.
Everyone else remained alert just in case this woman were to do something to harm them.
"Who the hell are you?!" Santana yelled, stepping in front of Brittany protectively.
Brittany said nothing and clutched onto her arm worriedly.
"My name is Gertrude and I'm the one that brought you all here" the woman, Gertrude, said.
At her words everyone looked at her in confusion, some raising their eyebrows at her.
"What do you mean you brought us here? How?" Sebastian asked.
The warblers nodded with what their former captain said.
"More importantly, why did you bring us here?" Blaine asked, confused and annoyed.
He didn't want to be in this weird movie theater.
He wanted to be back in his apartment and resume his search for Kurt, his ex-boyfriend, his first love.
He has never given up on finding Kurt. He knows that he's still out there somewhere and he's not going to stop searching for him until he's found.
He won't stop until he brings Kurt home.
"I've brought you all here because I have information on a certain someone you all know. Kurt Hummel. Does that ring any bells?" Gertrude asked.
An amused grin appeared on her face at everyone's reactions.
As soon as Kurt's name escaped her lips everyone's eyes widened in shock.
They couldn't believe what she said. None of them wanted to believe it.
Burt snapped out of it and narrowed his eyes at the woman.
"How do you know my son?" Burt asked, suspicious.
"And what kind of information do you have on him?" Finn asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Why tell you when I can show you?" Gertrude smiled.
Everyone looked at her in confusion with some getting even more annoyed.
Gertrude huffed but decided to explain.
"I've brought you all here because I have information on Kurt. I know everything about him, starting with where he went the day he learned Blaine cheated on him" Gertrude said.
Almost instantly the new directions turned to Blaine and glared at him.
Burt joined them and his glare was the deadliest.
Blaine flinched at all the glares he was getting and looked down at his feet.
He felt nothing but shame course through him for what he did to the Kurt, his first love, the boy that meant the world to him.
He hates that it's his fault that he lost Kurt and may never get him back.
The warblers, including Sebastian, just shook their head at Blaine in disappointment.
"I know what he has been doing since the day he's run off. I know that you all want to see him and see what he has been through since the day he left. Which is why I have brought you here" Gertrude added.
She gestured to the movie theater that they were all in, her finger pointing at the big screen.
"You all are going to watch Kurt's life and before you all say anything I promise that it's possible to do that. I mean, it was possible for me to bring you all here" Gertrude explained.
"What if we don't agree?" Sue asked with a raised eyebrow.
"You don't really have a choice. I'm the one that brought you all here and I'm the only one that can return you home" Gertrude explained.
Sue scowled slightly at that but kept quiet.
Everyone looked at each other and all had silent conversations with one another.
They didn't really trust this woman, considering they don't even know her, but they had a feeling that she wasn't lying about her knowing Kurt.
And she was the one that brought them to this movie theater.
How? They have no idea.
But just based on how she spoke they could tell she was serious about the information.
And they were all desperate to know anything, literally anything, about Kurt because it has been nearly a year since he disappeared.
"Fine. We agree" Carole said, looking at the woman.
"But you better not be lying or it won't end well. I promise you on that" Burt sternly said.
Everyone nodded in agreement.
If she was lying to them about what she knew, if she was just wasting their time, they would force her to send them back home.
Gertrude just nodded her head.
"Understood. Now sit down and get ready" Gertrude grinned.
Because the show is about to start.
