D and Devola: Animosity
Eight month for the Watchers:
Devola stretched her arms above her head, having just arrived at the dining room of the watchers HQ. She smiled to herself. Today was a good day. She woke up in her own bed, without having to worry about anything such as the machine attacking the camp and went to her daily morning duties in the infirmary with N and Popola. What made everything about her work better was the fact that she wasn't mistreated when she did a mistake or didn't have to take up additional work, just like she did back in the Resistance Camp in her homeworld.
The red haired android let out a deep satisfied exhale, showing herself how happy she was and felt like right now. She felt like she was in paradise right now. This entire place was a paradise if she was honest with herself. Her life had been nothing but paraside for the last six months since she moved in into the HQ to live with the watchers with her sister, A2 and 6O. There was may have been one negative about living here, but she preferred not to think about it now and focus on her good day and the good she was in right now.
She pushed herself into walk towards the kitchen, wanting to get herself something to eat. Even though she didn't have to eat as an android, she grew to like it over the course of the last few months and found herself going to the dining room daily to try whatever was on the menu on the said day. As she continued to make her way towards the kitchen, she looked around herself to see whoever was in the dining room right now as she was curious if she will be eating something alone right now or not.
She instantly saw a few familiar places. Her sister Popola and her boyfriend A were among them. Both of them were sitting by the same table, eating their own meals while having a decent conversation with each other. They glanced towards her and looked like they had wanted to invite her to join them but Devola shook her head, silently declining it as she wanted her sister to have some fun time with her boyfriend. The others watchers in the dining room included H, E, U, L and F. She decided not to bother them as well and made her way straight into the kitchen.
After making her way into the kitchen and placing the food which was prepared today by J on her plate, she walked out of it straight away and looked around herself in search of an empty table for herself. She didn't have to look for long as she found what she was looking for a second later. It was one of the many benefits of living in a place as large as this. There was always an empty table or an empty space for her whenever she arrived at the dining room with her food in ready.
Not wasting any time, she made her way to the free table and took her seat. Looking down at her meal, she licked her lips readily as she was more than ready to dig into her meal. If she was honest with herself, she couldn't recall J making a meal like this before and it made her even more excited to try it out and see how much she will enjoy it. Who knew. Perharps it will even end up being one of her favourites. She grabbed her fork, grabbing a delicious looking piece of meat with it and began lift it up to her mouth.
Just as she was about to dig into her meal, she felt someone sit down next to her. She shifted her attention away from her good, keeping the smile on her face as she expected to see someone she will be glad to see. She was wrong. She was the one person she didn't want to see right now. This person was D. He must have arrived at the dining room shortly before her and must have grabbed his food when she was looking. Judging from the bags he had under his eyes right now, he looked like he hadn't gotten enough sleep last night.
"What are you doing here?" She asked him, showing him how she wasn't happy to see him right now as she felt her interest and her appetite fade away in an instant, resulting in her placing her fork back on her plate. Her smile faded away from her face as soon as she laid her eyes on him.
"I'm here to get myself something to eat." D replied. From the tone of his voice and the look he had on his face, Devola could tell he wasn't pleased to see her as much as he was, "Good day to you too, by the way. Talk about a warm greeting."
Devola shook her head, seeing the direction this conversation will take due to his voice, "Don't start this bullshit now. I'm trying to eat here."
"So do I and unlike you I actually need to eat. You're the one to talk, by the way. Ain't you the one who started this conversation?" D pointed out while rolled his eyes. Their unpleasant conversation grabbed attention of everyone who was in the dining room and soon enough everyone were staring at them. A and Popola watched the scene from where they sat with saddened looks on their face as they were unhappy by these two fighting again.
"Are they at it again?" H asked, having just laid her eyes on D and Devola.
E sighed, "Looks like it..."
"Well, maybe I wouldn't have started this conversation if you didn't decide to sit next to me." Devola pointed out in return, looking annoyed by the fact that she had to point this out to him, "But seriously. Out of all places you could have chosen to sit down, you choose here?"
D rolled his eyes, refusing to look at her as he kept himself focused on his meal, "This is my usual spot when I have my meals. I should be the one asking why you chose to sit next to my spot?"
Devola blinked at him as she couldn't understanding his choice of words, "How the hell is this your spot? There's no designated seats for anyone here. Everyone sits down where they want to around here."
"Yeah. Only for the 26 of us." D replied, referring to the watchers only.
Devola knew what he was talking about right now and her glare grew further, "You just can't stop yourself? Why do you keep doing this, you asshole? Does it excited you in some way or something?"
"No, because you're not supposed to be here. Now, if you'll excuse me..." D shrugged it off like it was nothing as he turned away from her and set his eyes back on his food. He never got chance to finish what he was saying, though as Devola seemed to have had enough of him and whatever he was saying to her and punched him in the face. The force of the punch was enough to knock him off his seat and cause him to land on the ground. D clenched his teeth, cringing slightly in pain as he looked up at Devola and saw her standing above him with a shaking fist.
"Go fuck yourself." Devola told him, her glare refusing to leave her face as she turned away from him and pushed herself into walk out of the dining room. All the desire she had for her food had left her body, because of what just happened and all she was thinking about right now was walking away from D and letting out her negative emotions someplace else.
Needless to say. Everyone instantly stopped what they were doing when this scene between her and D happened as all of them watched Devola walking past their tables with in silence. As she walked out of the dining room, she was quickly followed by A and Popola who gave up on their meals and went after her to check on her and how she was doing right now while H and E got up from their seats and made their way to D who was slowly getting himself up back on his feet after the punch.
H stopped close to D, letting out a sigh as she asked him with a slight concern on her face, "How are you?"
"I just got punched by an android. I'd say it hurts pretty badly." D replied like he didn't want to talk about it, placing his hand on his jaw as he sat back down on his seat.
"What went down between you two again?" E wanted to know.
D shrugged, wanting to forget about this conversation and get back to his food. Especially since it was getting cold, "I don't want to talk about it. My food is getting cold."
H crossed her arms, shaking her head, "D. Did you once again told her she shouldn't be here?"
"..." D stayed silent, not wanting to give them the answer as he picked up his fork and tried to focus himself on his food to make himself stop thinking about it.
H looked at him with a disappointed look on her face, "Seriously, man?"
E shook his head, "Why do you keep saying that to her whenever you two argue? You should know how badly it triggers her. You just keep provoking her and making her act like this when you bring this up to her."
"Because it's the truth and it's not my problem she can't handle it." D replied with a hint of hesitation in his voice, "She shouldn't be here. She shouldn't have never be brought here. She should have stayed back in her world along with all the other characters who are living with us right now. We shouldn't have even changed the canon in NieR. You should have already know what I think about all of this by this point."
H shook her head at him and everything he was saying right now, "Do you really want to have this conversation?"
E crossed his arms, "I thought you and A already had a conversation about this."
"He did and nothing he or anyone else will say will change my mind." D nodded in confirmation, "Goddammit. Why do I feel like I am the only one who is doing our job around here..."
E sighed, "Dude. I know you feel like we're doing the wrong thing by doing things like thie, but try to look at it differently for once. Haven't you ever try to look at this in a different way than your way of not changing the canon to make everything better in the said world?"
"Yeah. Just try to look at this from a different pesperctive for once." H nodded in agreement, "If you have a favorite character that had died, would you want to save them? Because now you can."
D instantly shook his head at them, "No! Even though they would be my favorite, I can distrupt the canon event! It is what supposed to happen and it shouldn't changed."
"Dude! It's been like half a year since the others visited NieR after A convinced them to do so! If there would be any problem with it, then we would have been told about it during those eight month. Don't you think?" E asked, letting out a sigh as he hoped it would change his friends mind a bit.
D nodded in confirmation, "Yeah, because that is what is supposed to happen!"
"...Okay." H sighed, losing the count of how many sighs she let out at this point as she exchanged glances with E. Both of the mutually agreed not to push on this subject for now and decided to allow D to finish his meal. As they took their seat next to him to keep him company, they couldn't help but think how badly the animosity between D and Devola evolved over the course of the last few months.
----
Third month of the Watchers: Shortly after the watchers finished their first long visit in NieR's world.
6O couldn't stop awe from filling her eyes as she made her way through the hallways of the HQ of the watchers of the multiverse. Today was her first day in the said place and her new girlfriend R and one of her girlfriends best friends were showing her around her new living space right now. When R had invited her to live with her at the watchers Q a few days ago when the watchers decided they will be leaving her homeworld soon, she acceped it without hesitation due to her relationship with R. She intended on staying in contact with 2B, 9S and 21O, though.
The blonde haired android wasn't the only one to accept their offer. Devola and Popola accepted it as well as a way of escaping the discrimination and mistreatment they were suffering at the hands of the other androids from the camp and due to how close A and Popola because over the course of the last month. A2 decided to move in to live with the watchers as well, making her the fourth and the last android to do it. 6O couldn't really tell what was her reason of moving into the watchers HQ. A2 was always hard to read and she didn't talk with anyone aside from Anemone, B and Q.
Devola, Popola and A2 weren't present alongside her for the trip as they were busy with their own things. Devola and Popola, just like her, were having a trip around their new home, but were getting the said trip from someone else. The said someone was A. Originally, they thought about having one shared trip, but the idea was pushed away due to both A and R wanting to do their trips in their own paces. A2 wasn't present in the HQ right now as she left to visit some world B and Q showed interest in visiting back when they were in A2's homeworld and she tagged along for it. When asked about the trip around her new home, she shrugged it off and said she'll check it out later.
"...So." R's voiced pushed 6O out of her thoughts a second later. She shifted her gaze towards her girlfriend while holding hands with her and saw her looking at her with a questioning look on her face. She had a smile on her face as well, "What do you think about your new home so far, hun?"
6O smiled at her, "I like it. It's super large and all the people we saw seen so far have been nothing but welcoming towards me."
"I'm glad you think so." R smiled back at her, "Because what you saw so far is just the tip of the iceberg."
6O raised her brow, "Really?"
R's smile grew further as she gave her the confirmation, "Yup. There are a few places you need to check out inside our home. You haven't seen the outside as well. With how much you love flowers, I'm sure you will love the garden and the work U had put into it during the last two months."
"I'm sure I will." 6O nodded in agreement. If she was honest with herself, checking out the garden was something she was looking forward the most aside from seeing R's room and how she lived. R's room was saved for the last point of their trip, though as R wanted to suprise her. Even though she felt slightly bummed out about it, 6O didn't complain about it and kept herself excited for whatever R had planned for her.
R couldn't stop smilling at her girlfriends enthusiasm and interest as she decided to fill her in on the idea she had recently gotten, "You know. How about we'll ask U if she can plant some Lunar Tears in her garden from the seeds I had gathered on our first date and you could watch them grow from zero."
6O's eyes seemed to lit up at this, "Really?"
R nodded in confirmation, "Yeah. U showed interest in expanding the garden with various plants the last time she talked about it with us and I'm sure having a Lunar Tear there is something she will love. So. I take you like the idea?"
"Of course I do! I just can't wait to watch them grow and be as beautiful as they are in my homeworld!" 6O wasted no time and showed her excitement regarding this idea, "Let's hope your friend will be in the garden once we'll visit it so we can ask her about it."
R kept smilling at her, "Don't worry. I'm sure she'll be there as she spends most of her time there. If we'll get lucky, then L will be there as well so we could introduce you to him as well."
"...Girls! Look!" P's words got 6O and R out of their small discussion as both of them looked towards her and saw D walking down the hallway.
R smiled at the view of him, 'There he is."
6O shifted her gaze between R and P questioningly, "Oh. Is this D?"
R nodded in confirmation, "Yup. it's him."
"Oh, cool." 6O smiled at the confirmation, "I can't wait to finally met him from all the things you told me about him. We should probably go to him..."
R shook her head, having just gotten an idea, "No. Wait. I have a better idea."
6O raised her brow, "A better idea?"
P rolled her eyes, "What do you have in that pervy minds of yours?"
R wasted no time when it came to voicing to her idea, "How about 6O goes into the corner and hide there for a bit while you and me will have a talk with D. When I will tell him I have someone I need to introduce to him, you'll come out and introduce yourself. What do you think?"
6O nodded and smiled at her girlfriend, "Alright. Sounds like fun."
"I suppose it would make for a nice suprise for him." P shrugged, not really minding doing it. At least R wasn't planning to do anything pervy.
"Alright. Cool." R smiled excitedly at her girlfriend and a friend liking her idea as she set her eyes on 6O, "You should probably go hide now. We don't have much time if we want to put this idea into action."
"Okay. I'm on it." 6O said in understanding as she wasted no time and turned away from R and P, heading off to hide in the corner of the hallway where D won't notice her. As soon as she found herself hidden, R and P looked at each other and exchanged glances and nods with each other as they knew now it was plan to put their plan in motion.
R shifted her attention towards D who was now closer to them and still didn't seem to notice them due to being lost in his own thoughts. Seeing how he was still lost in his own thoughts, R decided to push him out of them by calling out to him, "Look what my eyes are seeing right now!"
D shook himself out of his thoughts and stopped in his tracks for a second before looking ahead of himself and seeing R and P in front of him, "Huh?"
R smiled at him, "What's wrong? Ain't you happy to see your fellow SEAs?"
D instantly shook his head, "It's not that. It's just I'm suprised to see you. You haven't been at the HQ for a while now. How long was it again?"
"A month." P explained.
"Yeah. A month." D nodded in confirmation and shifted his gaze between them questioningly, "So I take it you're done with whatever you've been doing with A."
P nodded in confirmation, "Yeah. It's all done. We have returned to the HQ about an hour and a half ago. This is probably why you didn't know about it."
"Yeah. Probably." D agreed with her, "I was looking at the monitors when you returned with the rest so I must have missed your return because of it. I had just left the place to grab myself something to eat."
"I see." P said in understanding.
"How about we'll accompany you?" R suggested, "After that, we could hang out and catch up a bit."
D shook his head at the suggestion, "As much as I would want to hang out, I'm busy with things right now. Maybe we can do it later."
"What?" R asked, knowing it would ruin her plan of suprising him by introducing her new girlfriend to him.
D once again shook his head, "No. It can't."
R rolled her eyes. "Is it about the monitors again?"
"Hey, somebody has to keep watch!" D pointed out like it was the most obvious thing in the world.
"Well in your case, you had been attached to it lately." R pointed out in return, "Both of us and C even had a conversation about it..."
"I don't care. It is our job, and I am actually doing it. I'll see you later." D bid his friends farewell as he turned away from P and R and pushed himself into walk away from them, intending to return to his duties.
6O popped her head out of the corner, suprised by the scene she had just overheard from her hiding place, "What's with him?"
R turned towards her girlfriend and provided her an explanation, "Oh, D just being his usual self again."
"Is he okay?' 6O asked in a slight concern
P shrugged, "By the looks of it yeah."
D stopped in his tracks upon hearing the third unfamiliar voice as he slowly turned around and laid his eyes on 6O. He pointed towards her with a suprise and seriousness on his face, "...Girls. Who is that?"
R turned towards him, grabbing 6O's hand and smiled at him slightly, "Right. I was planning to introduce her to you before you said goodbye to us. My dear friend, D. I want you to meet 6O."
6O raised her other hand and waved her hand at D in a shy greeting manner. She blushed as well, still haven't gotten used to the fact that R was openly referring to her as her girlfriend in front of everyone, "H-Hi there! It's nice to finally meet you! R and her friends told me so much about you!"
D didn't share 6O's enthusiasm when she greeted him and slowly shifted his gaze between R and P, looking like he was demanding an answer from them, "What is she doing here?"
"She'll be living with us now." R explained.
"She what...?" D looked like he hoped R was joking, "You're joking..."
R shook her head, taken aback by his reaction, "No. I'm not. Why would I joke about something like this? She's my girlfriend, you know."
D blinked, looking it he had to take a few seconds from process this information, "...You're dating a character you snatched from a universe you had visited and are planning to have her moved in here."
R nodded in confirmation, "Yup."
"Why are you reacting like this" P asked in suprise, taken aback by his less than positive reaction and 6O looked suprised by it as well. The android seemed to be slightly hurt by it too, "R isn't the only one dating an android now, you know."
"What do you mean?" D asked, looking more displeased the further they went into this conversation.
"A is dating Popola. From what we know, they went on a date yesterday and decided to give this a try. She and Devola will be living iwth us from now on as well. The same goes for A2." P explained and looked at him questioningly, "Now allow me to repeat myself. Why are you reacting like this? Is there any problem with it?"
D nodded in confirmation, "Yeah. Do I really need to explain it to you? Have you thought about the consequences of it? What if you ruined the canon by snatching her? What if something bad will happen because of it."
R shook her head at this words, "Dude, chill."
"Yeah." P nodded in agreement, "You don't need to panic and worry about anything this much. We alterned the canon in NieR so the canon events won't happen anyone. The canon events won't happen anymore and everyone is slowly starting to think about rebuilding their world."
D blinked at his friends, needing a few seconds to process this before asking. "...You what?"
"We altered the canon there." P repeated herself, "Whatever happened in the game won't happe anymore."
"You did what?!" D exclaimed, looking more than pleased by this information.
P nodded in confirmation, "You heard me right."
R raised her brow, "Why are you so suprised about it? You didn't know about this?"
"No. I didn't!" D shook his head, "If I knew, then I would never allow you to leave to do whatever A had planned!"
R looked genuinely confused after D uttered those words. "What? Why?
"Do you really need to ask? Ain't you supposed to be the smart one?" D replied with a question of his own as he turned away from his friends and 6O and pushed himself into walk away from them, "Whatever. I don't have time to talk with you about it now. I need to find A and have a serious conversation with him."
"Okay?" P replied in a questioning tone, still not knowing what to make of this situation as D walked out of their view, looking like he was in a hurry of finding A.
R raised her brow at what just happened, "What was that about?"
"I don't know." P gave her an honest answer, shaking her head as 6O looked down at the floor, trying to mask and hide the hurt expression she had on her face right now.
As D continued to make his way across the watchers HQ in search of A, he couldn't help but shake his head as R and P's explanation of what really did with A in NieR's world continued to fly through his head. He couldn't believe how irresponsible A was right now. The same went for the rest of the watchers who agreed to help him out with this risky and idiotic and risky idea. Haven't they thought about the possible consequences of doing something like this? Was he really the only sane thinking person around here?
After a several minutes of running around the HQ in circles and leaving himself out of breath, he finally found what he was looking for. He stopped in his tracks, letting out a deep breath when his eyes finally caught the sight of A, Popola and Devola. He noticed A and Popola holding hands as well which seemed to be making the android flustered. He wasn't noticed by them straight away as all of them were too busy with whatever they were doing right now to noticed him staring at them. He wasn't going to let himself go unnoticed by them, though.
"...There you are!" He shouted in order to gain their attention, wasting no time when it came to making his way towards A, Devola and Popola while looking like he was out of breath from all the fast walking he did right now.
A stopped the conversation he was having with Popola and Devola right and shifted his attention to D. He saw his fellow watcher walking towards him and smiled at him, "Oh, hey, D!"
D stopped in front of A, Popola and Devola, taking a deep breath as he kept his eyes set on him, "There you are. I've been looking for you..."
"Really? Alright. If that's the case and you're already here, then allow me to introduce you to my girlfriend Popola and her sister Devola..." A began to say, wanting to introduce Popola and Devola to D as Popola blushed at A referring to her as his girlfriend which got a smirk out of her sister. He never got a chance to finish what he was saying, though.
"It can wait. We have something to talk about." D cut him off.
A raised his brow, "Really? What is it?"
D took a deep breath and voiced what he had to say to him, "You...you altered that universe?!"
A raised his brow at his question, "What?"
"You altered NieR and completely changed it's canon?!" D explained what he meant with his question to him.
A nodded in confirmation, raising his brow at the way D was acting towards him right now, "Yes. Is there something wrong with it?"
D shook his head in disbelief, looking like he became seriously panicked all of a sudden, "We're supposed to be keeping an eye on the universes, not changing it! The higher beings did not instruct us to do it! This isn't part of our job!"
"Dude. Relax. Our part as the watchers is keeping the universes safe. It includes fixing them from having terrible things happen in them." A tried to calm D down a bit as Devola and Popola looked suprised by the way A's fellow watcher was behaving right now.
"That's not what they mean!" D argued as Devola narrowed her eyes at him, finding herself growing annoyed by the way he was behaving right now, "They specifically said to keep an eye on the universes from outside threats! W-What if we get in trouble for it?! Gah, am I the only who is taking this job seriously?!"
A pulled his hand away from Popola's, raising his hands in a defensive manner as he continued with his attempts of calming D down, "D. Just take a deep breath and relax. Nothing bad will happen."
"How can you know?" D remained doubtful about it.
"Because the higher beings would have told us about if it was a problem." A stated, "If there were not okay with it, then they would intervene when I was planning this thing out or would tell us about it when they explained this job to us! Even if they're not okay with it, then they had a month to come into contact with us and tell us about it. Especially with what B and Q are doing right now."
D raised his brow, "B and Q? What about them?"
"They went to the universe of Team Fortress from what I've heard. A2 went with them." A filled him on what he meant when he brought up B and Q to him.
"WHAT?!" D exclaimed in a heavily displeased manner, looking a bit apalled when the others are doing the same thing A did, "Why is A2 going there?! She's not even part of that universe!"
"She was hanging out with B and Q for the last month and tagged along with them." A explained and raised his brow questioningly at him, "What's wrong with her going there?"
"Yeah. If anything I'm glad she's slowly starting to open up." Popola added.
"That doesn't consider the fact she's an outsider for that universe!" D pointed out, "What if her being there will break something and cause some anomaly to encounter? Why isn't anyone thinking about this?!"
A shook his head, keeping up with his attempts at calming D down, "Don't panic. You're panicking too much. Just try to look at this in a different way and try to look at this in a more positive manner. Imagine all the good things which will come out of. Imagine all the bad events we'll be able to prevent with our involvement. Isn't that what
Devola crossed his arms, "Yeah, dude. Take a chill pill."
D shifted his gaze to her and glared at her, "Shut up! I'm not talking with you."
Devola looked taken aback by him talking to her like that, "Excuse me?"
"You heard me right." D told her without hesitation with his voice, causing Devola's glare to worsen and shifted his gaze back to A. He shook his head at him for one last time and pointed directly at his face, "You and the others are making a mistake by doing this, A. You will find out sooner or later how this will just ruin everything for us."
"D. Let's just..." A had no chance to finish what he wanted to say to D as D turned away from him and walked away, deciding not to talk with A about this further as he saw no sense in it. In his point of view, A and the others have already made up their minds and talking with them would be talking to brick walls.
Devola crossed her arms once D was out of her view, "Jeez. What an asshole. What's wrong with him?"
Popola looked at A with a questioning look on her face, looking slightly hurt by what happened, "What happened? Did we do something wrong?"
A shook his head, "No. You didn't. D is just a bit paranoid. Give him time. He'll mellow out. You see. He normally doesn't act like this. You'll see."
Popola nodded in understanding, "Okay."
A shifted his gaze between both of them with an apologetic look on his face, "I'm sorry something like this during while you weren't here for even two hours. I know what I told you earlier when I first offered this to you."
Popola smiled at him in a reassuring manner, "Don't worry. It's okay."
"Yeah. It wasn't your fault." Devola nodded in agreement, looking in the direction D had just gone towards with an angry glare on her face.
"Alright." A said in understanding. Even though both of them told him it wasn't his fault, he still would have preferred if this situation didn't occur. Pushing himself out of his apologetic state, he once again looked between the two sisters and asked them, "How about we'll return to our trip around the place now?"
"Alright/Yeah." Popola and Devola told him at the same time. Not wasting any time and pushing this situation behind as if it didn't happen, all three of them went back to what they were doing before D approached them.
-----
Fifth months of the Watchers:
Devola looked at the calendar in front of her, having just finished cleaning something up in the infirmary at the watchers HQ and shook her head to herself. She couldn't believe it was already February which marked two months she had moved in here with Popola, 6O and A2. This month marked the fifth month of the current generation of the watchers of the multivese having this job as well due to them being summoned in October when they were first given their job. The way how they were counting their year was still something she was getting used to.
The saying those last two months were good for her was quite the understatement. It was a complete change from the Resistance Camp and how her life looked like back in her homeworld. Back there she was worried for her life every second and was hated by everyone, because of what happened with Project Gestalt which resulted in the extinction of the human race in her homeworld. She didn't do anything about this hatred as she felt like she deserved and often turned to bottle, because of it.
Here everything was completely different. Everyone treated her well and she actually felt welcomed here and like she belonged. Because of this, she didn't really felt like coming back to her homeworld and A and Popola understood it even they often had to visit it due to the rebuilding process of her homeworld starting. Perharps she'll visit it again one day once she'll finally convinced herself to give it a shot and see how much had changed since the last time she was there. She didn't know. Only time would tell whether that would happen or not.
Nodding to herself in a satisfied manner, she turned away from the cabinet and shifted her attention to her sister who was busy with her own cleaning duties in the infirmary. With N finding herself busy with something right now and being unable to perform her daily duties in the infirmary, both of them promised her to take care of it for her which was something N really appreciated. Neither she or Popola minded taking care of it as it was something they were doing back in their homeworld and it was a part of their job as the medical androids to take care of something like this.
Wanting to get everything done faster, she pushed herself into walk and made her way to Devola, "Do you need any help, sister?"
Popola shook her head, politely declining her offer as she glanced at her sister for a second, "No. I'm just about to finish. Thank you for the offer, though. What about you? Are you done?"
"If I wasn't, then I wouldn't be asking you this." Devola pointed out.
"Right." Popola said in understanding, looking slightly embarassed for asking such an obvious question as she shifted gaze back to what she was doing and focused herself on it, wanting to get this done as well, "Are you sure you got everything, right? I don't want to make N mad if we did something wrong."
Devola nodded in confirmation, "Yeah. I did. I checked everything twice before I went to you."
"Alright. Good." Popola voiced her understanding of it, looking and sounding both relieved and satisfied with it.
Devola sighed softly, knowing the reason for Popola's worry and relief, "Sister. You know you don't have to worry about N doing anything to you if we'll mess something up or misplace something. We're not in the Resistance Camp anymore and you know N isn't the type of person to do something like this."
Popola glanced at her sister again and nodded before letting out a soft, "I know. It's just. It's sometimes hard to forget we're not in the Resistance camp anymore, you know? Sometimes I still feel like I'm going to get choked or called out for it."
Devola looked at her sister with a look of understanding on her face, wrapping her arm around her, "I know what you're saying. I felt the same for the first two weeks here as I felt like someone will do something to me. Those feelings passed, though. You'll see. You'll get rid of those feelings as well in no time. You'll have A to help you out as well."
"Yeah. You're right." Popola smiled at her gratefully as once again focused herself on her work a second later. The rest of her work went without any interruptions as neither she or Devola did or said anything to make her shift her attention away from it. By the time shew as done with it, she brushed her hands against her clothes and began to turn around to look at her sister, "Alright. I think I'm done."
"Cool." Devola smiled at this information.
Popola fully turned away from her now finished work and shot her sister a questioning look, "Is there something you want to do now, sister? If not, we can always..."
Devola quickly provided her sister an answer, cutting her off mid-sentence as she already had a good idea of what she wanted to do now, "I was planning to leave and grab something to bite. From what I've overheard from the others, J made some delicious today and I haven't gotten a chance to try it out, yet. We can try it together. What do you think?"
"Okay. Sounds good to me." Popola nodded in agreement at the suggestion, smilling slightly. Despite them not having to eat as androids, it really made her happy to see her sister develop such likeness towards eating even if didn't show much interest towards it back in their homeworld. She blamed it on the fact how different their lives had been ever since they had moved in here.
Devola smiled back at Popola, gladdened to see her sister agreeing with her idea. She turned away from her a second later and began to walk towards the exit from the infirmary. Popola followed her and both of them walked out of the infirmary a second later, leaving the door unlocked in case anyone will need to visit the said place for one reason or another. They didn't worry about leaving the door unlocked instead of closing it like many people would definitely do as they doubted anyone will suddenly appear out of nowhere in the watchers HQ and steal something from the infirmary.
After closing the door, the two android sisters wasted no time and pushed themselves into walk towards the dining room and the kitchen. As they proceeded to make their way towards their destination, they saw a familiar person walking towards them from the other side of the hallway. This person was D. If they were to guess, he must have been on the way to the room with the monitors. The said room was filled with many monitors which were monitoring the multiverse and D was spending a lot of time there. In fact. It was rare to see him out of it.
"Good day to you, D." Popola greeted D in a sweet and polite manner when they were about to pass him in the hallway as Devola rolled her eyes at the view of him. Despite A reassuring her and all the other androids about D's behavior improving towards them, his behavior towards them didn't change at all as he ignored and stayed away from the for most of the time. Whenever he found himself close to them, he never said anything to them and kept to himself.
D rolled his eyes when he walked past them and muttered something under his breath, "You shouldn't be here..."
Devola stopped in her tracks as soon as those words rang through her ears. Even though D had muttered those words under her breath, she heard what she had just said pretty well, "Excuse me?"
D stopped in his tracks as well and turned around to look at her, "What?"
Devola looked at him with a demanding glare on her face, 'What did you just say?"
"Devola..." Popola muttered to her sister, pulling on her by her clothes as a way of saying to her it was not worth it and she should not make a scene about it. They should just ignore it and go on their usual day without starting a scene.
D narrowed his eyes at Devola, seeing she must have overheard him and sighed as he realized there was no point in hiding this from them, "Do you really want me to repeat myself? From what I'm seeing, you are perfectly aware of what I had just said."
Devola crossed her arms, "Enlighten me."
D stared directly at the two androids in front of him when he repeated himself to them, "You and your sisters shouldn't have been here. The same goes for A2 and 6O. You should have stayed in your world and my friends should have never altered your world."
Devola rolled her eyes, "Here you go with the same crap you had brought up to A back when we first met you. What's up with you and this mindset? It's been two months! If anything bad would happen about it, then it would already happened. What's your problem with it in the first place?!"
"What is my problem with it? Allow me to explain it to you." D glared at her, "Me and my friends, as the watchers, were tasked to supervise the worlds to see if anything is wrong, not outright changing them! I already made it clear to everyone more times than I can count at this point! Are you deaf or have you been living under the rock since moving here?
Devola shook her head and pushed herself into walk towards him. She stopped directly when she was in front of him and poked him on her shoulder roughly, "Changing the worlds is wrong? Isn't it your job as the watchers of the multiverse to make the multiverse a better place? Changing the worlds for the better includes it!"
Popola slowly stepped towards the scene in front of her and reached out towards her sister, "Devola..."
D nodded in confirmation, "Exactly. Our job is to make the multiverse a better place as in defending it whenever a threat to it will arise. Changing the canon of the said world doesn't include it. Not to mention it's risky as hell and and intervening can cause things to just go worse. Everything should have stayed in the way it was planned out without any changes."
Devola's eyebrow twitched in irritation and anger, "So? According to you your friends should have left me and my sister and everyone else from our world who died to die and and have those who survived remain in the endless suffering that is our world?
D nodded in confirmation, "Yeah, because that is what is supposed to happen and it should remain that way."
"Come on. Say that again. I dare. I fucking dare you, you asshole." Devola told him, looking like she was doing everything in her power to stop herself from doing anything to D after he outright told her he would have allowed her and her sister die if it meant keeping up with the canon version of their world.
"You shouldn't be here. You should be in your world where your canon events would play out without anyone changing them. It included whatever your creator had planned out for you and your sister." D told her with a hint of hesitation in his voice, looking directly into Devola's eyes when it happened to show her he was serious and meant everything.
As soon as those words left his mouth, Devola seemed to have reached her limit as she acted without thinking and punched him in the face. The force of the punch was strong due to her being an android and the watcher was knocked to the ground by it. D looked up at her with a pained look on his face, feeling pain from being punched by an android and glared at Devola angrily.
"You..." He began to say to say to her, clutching her pained cheek as Popola froze in her tracks, stunned by what just happened between him and Devola. If was honest with herself, she wasn't expecting things to escalate this much and wasn't expecting to see her sister punch D the way she did.
"Stay away from me and Popola, you fucking asshole. If you'll even think about pulling off bullshit like this in front of me or my sister ever again, I'll punch the shit out of you again and I won't stop at just one punch." Devola returned his glare, looking down at him with her fist shaking from the punch as she cut him off before she could say anything to her and D could tell how angry she was right now from the tone of her voice. She turned away from him a second later, pushing herself into walk as she started to walk away from him.
Popola looked down at D, looking at him with an apologetic look on her face to look the slightly hurt look she had on her face right now as she turned away from him and followed Devola along the halway, "...Devola! Wait!"
D watched them walk away until they vanished from his view and shook his head. Muttering something under his breath about about Devola, he got himself back on his feet and turned in the direction opposite of the direction Devola and Popola had just walked towards as he didn't want to go in the same direction as them for all the obvious reasons. Keeping his hand on his pained cheek, he pushed himself into walk and walked off in his own direction.

Ninth month of the Watchers
Sun was shining brightly right now as it was the beginning of the summer in the watchers HQ. With the said time of the year having just started and the weather already showing what time of the year it was, Z decided it was a perfect time to celebrate her and everyone's else first summer as the watchers and suggested to everyone they should have a party/hangout by the outside pool as a way of celebrating it. When she first suggested it to everyone, everyone could tell how excited she was by the thought of it as it must have been something she was looking forward to for months.
Her suggestion was met with many positive responses from everyone and everyone planned out their hangout, resulting in all of them spending time by the pool now. She was invited for this hangout as well. The same went for Popola, 6O and A2. If she was honest with herself, she was really excited by the invite as she really wanted to check something like this out as she hadn't done it before. 6O and Popola shared her enthusiasm when it came to this hangout by the pool while A2 didn't really show any. In fact. Devola wouldn't be suprised if B and Q must have done heavy convincing to make her come or even drag her here.
The red haired android looked down at her swimsuit. She wouldn't call it anything special. It was a normal two piece swimsuit she read about in the human archives in her world and the type of a swimsuit most of the female watchers were wearing right now with a few exceptions such as X wearing a sundress. 6O and Popola were wearing this type of a swimsuit as well, looking slightly flustered about doing so while A2 didn't seem to show much care about the revealing aspect of the swimsuit.
Devola couldn't help but snort slightly in amusement at the flustered way Popola and 6O were acting right now. Despite being in relationships with both A and R for a few months now and having definitely done some couple stuff with them, both of them could still find themselves flustered by things like this. She shifted her attention away from her swimsuit a second later and looked around herself to see what the others were doing right now, curious how they were spending their time by the pool.
She saw what everyone else were doing right now a few seconds later. She saw T standing by the edge of the pool, pointing at K and laughing after 'accidentally' pushing her into the pool which amde her glare at him like she wanted to kill him, B and Q were having a conversation as Q refused to put a sunscream on herself and tried to argument it by being raised in Croatia, P seemed to busy staring at O's well built body and J, V and I were having a decent conversation with each other. As the said three watchers continued to have theri conversation, Devola could have sworn she saw J glaring at every woman around the pool and glancing at her own flat chest with jealous evident on her face every now and then.
The other notable observations she made was R sitting with Esdeath in a jaccuzi and making out with her. Devola shook her head at the view of it. She was still having a hard time understanding why was 6O okay with R dating more than one man and having a harem, but she wasn't the one to judge one taste in women and love life. She saw Z as well. The woman who came up with this hangout in the first place was sitting on a law chair, sunbathing and Devola could have sworn she saw most of the watchers oggling her every now and then.
She couldn't blame them for it. She herself had to admit Z was a beautiful woman, despite being in her late 30's and she glanced at her every now and then herself. Z herself didn't seem to mind the attention and in fact seemed to love every second of it. She stopped her observation a few seconds later when the familiar face of D showed up in her view. She saw him hanging out with H and E, the two trying to have a conversation while D who looked like he didn't want to be here stood on the side and silently nodded his head to everything they said to him.
Seeing the way D was like right now, she wouldn't be suprised if D was dragged here by H and E from whatever he was doing. Knowing him, it must have something to do with the monitors. Devola shook her head at the view of him. She wished she could say her relationship with him had gotten better since she punched him, but that would be a lie. If she was honest with herself, it had just gotten worse. The few conversations she had with him after she punched him for the first time were always hostile and always ended in an argument which always ended with her punching him to shut him up. If it wasn't for the watchers having a bigger durability than a normal human, then she would be certain his face would be heavily damaged at this point.
The growing animosity and dislike between the was not an unknown fact for everyone at the HQ as she and D weren't exactly making it subtle. Everyone in the HQ could see the dislike these two had for each other from the way they were looking at each other when they were in the same room or from the way they sounded whenever they talked about each other with the other residents of the HQ. A few of the watchers with A and X being the best examples of it tried to fix her relationship D. The positive results to their efforts remained non-existent, though as neither D or Devola showed interest in being friends.
"...Sister?" Popola's voiced pushed her out of her thoughts.
Devola shook her head as she quickly shifted her gaze to Popola's voice and saw her sister looked at her questioningly. 6O and A2 were looking at her right now as well, "...What?"
Popola quickly provided her an explanation, "You seemed lost in your thoughts. I got concerned."
"Is there something bothering you?" 6O asked with a slightly worried look on her face while A2 silently stared at Devola.
"No. It's nothing." Devola shook her head, not giving them the full answer as she didn't really want to talk about this subject, "Just got lost in my thoughts."
Popola raised her brow, sensing there was something wrong with her sister, "Are you sure?"
A2 looked in the direction Devola was looking towards a few seconds earlier and her eyes quickly took notice of D. She pointed towards him, causing Popola and 6O to look at him as well before asking Devola, "Don't tell me it's about him again?"
Devola sighed, knowing she can't lie now as A2 figured out what was bothering her and nodded in confirmation, "Yeah. Saw and just started thinking about him and his canon events bullcrap. You know always happens when I see him or when he's close to me."
A2 sighed, having lost the count of how many times something like this happened with Devola when it came to D as she turned to look at her again, "You again with this. You know you don't need to think about it whenever you look at him, right?"
"It's easier said than done." Devola pointed out to her, letting out another sigh.
6O rubbed the back of her head with an uncertain look on her face, "Yeah. I agree with Devola here..."
"Me too. I wish I could just ignore all of this, but I can't." Popola nodded in agreement, "I mean. How do you handle someone telling you you should have let your life play out your creator planned it out. Even if it means dying. It can be a story for him, but that's our lives..."
Devola raised her brow at Popola, "Has he said anything to you when I wasn't around you?"
"No. He didn't. After you punched back him in February, he left me alone." Popola shook her head as Devola nodded in a satsified manner. Good. Shewas starting to worry she needs to go and have a private talk with him, "I can't say he didn't the same to you, though."
Devola nodded in agreement, "You have no idea. Whenever I have to talk with him for one reason or another, I feel like he just has the need of saying something to piss me off.."
6O sighed, "I see you're having less luck than I do, then."
Devola looked at her questioningly, "What do you mean? He leaves you alone?"
"For most of the time." 6O nodded in confirmation, "If were to guess why he gives me some slack compared to the rest of you, it's probably because of my relationship with R and both of them being friends."
"I see." Devola looked at her with a look of understanding on her face, feeling envious of D cutting 6O some slack, but at the same time she felt happy she didn't have to endure this. That girl was too pure for this world. Even if she dated R out of all people.
"I still wish he wasn't seeing saying all of those hurtful things to you, though as I know he is directing them towards me when he is doing so. It's hurts, you know. Especially since I know what would happen to me if the watchers didn't appear in our world. I really wish he would just stop with this..." 6O added to what she had said earlier, frowning sadly at the thought of her girlfriends best friend thinking in such a way about her.
"Yeah. I hear you." Devola nodded in agreement, remaining understanding of 6O and everything she was saying to her. She shifted her gaze to A2 who kept herself silent for the last few moments of their discussion, "What about you, A2? What do you think?"
A2 shrugged, looking disinterested in the conversation, "I thought I already myself clear here by telling you to ignore. I don't care what he has to say.."
Popola looked suprised by it, "What? Really?"
"He's saying all those hurtful things about us and you don't care?" 6O asked.
A2 remained indifferent to it as she once again shrugged her shoulders, "It's not like he can do anything about it as he is in minority. Like I already said, just stop paying attention to it. Ignoring bullshit like this will make everything better for you.."
"What about your and Anemone's old squad? What would you do if he mentioned it?" Devola wanted to know
A2's expression grew more icy at the mention of her old squad, "Then, I would beat the shit out of him."
Devola pointed at her, "See! That's exactly my point. Even you have your limit with him. You really think you can just keep ignoring it?"
A2 nodded in confirmation, "Yeah. As long as he won't reach my limits, then I see no problems with paying no attention to him. Just ignore him and whatever bullshit he has in his mind."
"Easy for you to say. Not everyone can be a stone cold bitch who doesn't care about stuff like this like you." Devola told her. The way how A2 never seemed bothered whenever D was having his talks about canon events never ceased to amaze her. She really envied her when it came to this as well.
A2 narrowed her eyes at Devola after the way she had referred to her, "A what now?"
Devola noticed the way A2 had looked at her and quickly explained what she meant to her, "I meant that as a compliment."
"If you say so." A2 replied, keeping her eyes narrowed from getting called a cold bitch by Devola. At least it wasn't as annoying as it was getting called a tsundere by Q, "Whatever. Like I said. Just ignore him. Getting angry over it is a waste of time and energy."
"6O~." R's voice called out for 6O a second later, taking the four androids out of their conversation. All of them looked in the direction of the voice and saw R and Esdeath walking towards them with smirks evident on their faces.
A2 shook her head at the view of them, "Oh, for fucks sake..."
"R-R? E-Esdeath?" 6O stuttered out as R and Esdeath stopped in front of her and placed their hands on their hips, smirking down at the flustered blonde haired android.
Esdeath smirked, "Yup. That's us~."
"You know what we've been thinking about for the last few minutes~?" R asked, smirking as well.
"W-What is it?" 6O asked, remaining heavily flustered by the situation. The swimsuits Esdeath and R were having on themselves wasn't making things better for her. Her fellow androids reacted to the scene in their own ways. Devola couldn't help herself, despite the discussiong they were having right now and smirked slightly as Popola had an awkward look on her face while A2 rolled her eyes.
"We've been thinking and we realized we've been being unfair to you by not inviting you to have some fun in the jaccuzi with us." R explained what she had in mind to her.
Esdeath pulled her arms away from her hips and crossed them right below her chest, "It was really mean of us. Don't you think~?"
"I-I..." 6O began to stutter in a flustered embarassment.
Esdeath chuckled, "We really took your breath out of your mouth, huh~?"
"She's so cute. Let's take her with us." R added as Esdeath nodded in agreement. Not wasting any time, both of them grabbed 6O and picked her up from the lawn chair as they began to drag the flustered android towards the jaccuzi.
Devola shook her head in amusement at the situation, "Looks like she's in for some fun."
A2 sighed, "It would be nicer if they kept it between them. Not everyone is interested in watching stuff like this."
Devola turned to look at A2, "Come on. You'll change your mind once you'll find yourself someone. Look at Popola for example."
Popola blushed at being brought up here, "Um..."
"Whatever." A2 rolled her eyes, "Back to what I was saying before they interrupted us, just start ignoring him and pay no attention to whatever he will say to you the next time you will talk. It will benefit both you and him. Especially you. You'll see."
Devola looked at her with a thoughtful look on her face and nodded, "Fine. I suppose I can give this a try."
"Good. Now can you not bother me with this crap for the rest of the day? When B and Q dragged me here even after I told them I don't want to go, the last thing I wanted to hear was you bitching about D again." A2 nodded in a satisfied manner and turned away from Devola, ending the conversation she was having with her right now. Once the conversation between them ended, Devola turned to look at D again and left herself with her thoughts. As she set her eyes on D again, she couldn't help but ask herself. Will she able to ignore his behavior if he won't stop with it?

First year and fourth month of the watchers: The day after the New Year Party.
Devola strolled through the hallways of the watchers HQ. The faint scent of champagne lingered in the air, a remnant of the lively New Year's celebration that had just concluded some time ago. Last night was really fun for her and she was certain it was fun for everyone as well. Even though it was her second new years party in her life, she had grown to really like those and found herself looking forward to more of those in the future. With her being an android, she knew she had many of those ahead of her.
She chuckled to herself, recalling all the events which went down last night such as B trying to keep Q away from any liquor until midnight due to her low tolerance. When the watchers were having their first new year party during their third month, Q got drunk shortly after the party started and she had missed out on the midnight firewords because of it. Something which she whined about to B for hours the following day. Something which really annoyed him and he made it his personal goal to make sure it won't happen again during the next party and fortunely for him and Q, he succeeded and Q remained sober until midnight.
B wasn't the only one who needed to stop their friend from getting drunk before midnight as J and V had to go through the same thing with I. Fortunely for them, however, I wasn't as thirsty for alcohol as Q was and it made their job easier for them. For all she knew and remembered everything from the night before, nothing else worth mentioning had happened in regards of liqor. Aside maybe from Z once again trying to beat L in a drinking competition and ending up wasted while L remained sober and didn't show any signs of being intoxicated.
"This guy really isn't human..." The android thought to herself at the thought of L. If she was honest with herself, she doubted there was even an android in the Resistance Camp which had as strong tolerance as him. Even if there was someone like this back in the camp, she wouldn't know as she was often drinking alone back there.
As Devola continued her exploration of the watchers HQ, she couldn't help but feel a sense of gratitude for being part of their community and living them. Despite a few unpleasant situations last year, she could easily say the last year was the best year of her life and she didn't regret agreeing to A's offer and coming to live here. Not one bit. And she doubted she will ever regret coming here as well. With her being an android, she could easily see herself living here for all the eternity.
Looking around herself, she paused by a window overlooking the outside of the HQ and showed some of the stuff it had to offer such as the old fountain or the forest way in the distance of the massive building. With a contented smile, Devola turned away from the window and continued her solitary journey through the mansion, savoring the quiet beauty of the moment and the promise of a fresh start in the year to come.
She walked into the dining room a few seconds later, seeing the mess it was left in due to the fun and partying everyone put themselves through last night and cringed a bit at the amount of cleaning she and everyone else will have to do once they'll awake as she was certain at least some of the watchers were still sleeping. She talked with 6O a few minutes ago and she told her R had not slept night after leaving the party last night for some reason and the same went for C and it really made her fellow android curious.
Shrugging her shoulders to herself, she brushed this off as nothing important and R and C being themselves. This is what the eggheads usually put themeselves through, after all. Especially after the incident where they wanted to test out who was smarter. Whatever it was, it was probably nothing important as well so Devola didn't really bother herself with thinking what had kept R and C awake even after everyone went to sleep last night.
She pushed herself out of her thoughts a second later and switched her mind to something else as her eyes caught the sight of D sitting by the dining table all by himself with an empty bottle of some liqor next to him. The saying he looked horrible was quite the understatement. His bags under his eyes had become heavier and Devola was certain he was intoxicated after partying last night. The second part didn't really suprise her, though as she was feeling alcohol in her system as well after drinking quite a lot of it last night.
The red haired android kept her gaze on D, letting out a sigh as she thought about things looked like between her and D after she followed A2's advice and tried to ignore him whenever he acted like her and her fellow androids lives should come back to the way they were before they came into contact with the watchers. If she was honest with herself, the effects of it were really mixed. She didn't punch D again whenever he made his comments towards her over the course of the last few months, but she came close many times, leaving all of the negative emotions she had towards him boiled within her.
As she continued to stare at him, she recalled the conversation she had with her sister the night before where they talked about their New Year Resolutions and Popola brought up the matter of D and Devola trying to improve her relationship with him in some way.
"Fix things with him? Fuck. No."
"C'mon, Devola. I don't want you acting like this."
"Well he should stop acting like a fucking asshole who wants our lives to go back the way it was!"
Letting out a sigh, Devola swallowed her breath as she found herself keep thinking about this conversation. She couldn't help but ask herself if her relationship with D was really salvageable in some way. If she was honest with herself, she couldn't really see it happening as she still felt nothing but negative feelings whenever she looked at him or thought about him and knew the feelings were mutual.
A small part of her was telling her to give this a chance, though. It wouldn't be for her sake, though and it would be for Popola's sake as her sister really wanted her to make her to improve her relationship with D in some way. Her sister tried to argument her way of thinking by pointing out how they should be having a new better life in the watchers HQ and keeping yourself on the bad terms with someone you'll be neighbours with for who knows how long won't really classify as having a new better life.
"...What are you doing here?" She was pushed out of her thoughts a few seconds later as D's voice rang through her voice.
Devola pushed herself out of her thoughts and saw D staring directly right at her. He must have noticed her in the doorway while she was too busy with her own thoughts, "I could be asking you the same thing. Everyone else is either still sleeping or are somewhere else in the HQ right now."
D shrugged, "Didn't felt like sleeping so I stayed up."
"Really? Why?" Devola asked as she stepped towards him.
D raised his brow, "Why do you care?"
"Just curious." Devola replied, getting herself closer to him.
"I see." D said in understanding as Devola stopped next to him, having just made her way to him.
"..." The two stared at each other, not knowing what else to say to each other as the room was engulfed in an awkward silence which felt like eternity for both of them when it reality it lasted only a moment.
Devola tried to break the silence between them a few seconds later by asking, "Last year was quite a year, huh?"
D nodded at her, letting out a hum,"Mm-hmm."
"I don't know about you but I personally loved the last year a lot. I had tons of fun since I moved here with my sister and for once I feel like my life is taking a good turn..." Devola told him, trying to start some pleasant small talk with him and have a conversation with him which wasn't about the usual stuff going between them.
D silently nodded at her, rolling his eyes a bit as he silently hoped Devola will notice he wasn't interested in having a conversation with her.
Devola failed to notice the way he wasn't interested in having this conversation with her and went further into her words, "...It just makes me wonder what will happen to us and everyone else in this new year. Personally I'm feeling really optimistic about it. What about you?
D stared at her silently for a few seconds and nodded, "...Okay."
Devola raised her brow at his answer, "Okay? You ain't gonna say anything more? I'm trying to have a conversation with you here."
"I have nothing to say to you." D told her, "Did you really thought I want to have a conversation about how last year went with you? Last year was fucking terrible for me and I sure as hell don't want to listen to you rambling how good it was for you when you shouldn't even be here."
Devola stared at him for a second, feeling her expression shift into a less pleased one as she bit her lip to stop herself from saying again. She kept up with her uncaring behavior towards it for months and she wasn't intending to let them go to waste by this one comment. Even if it happened after she was trying to be nice to him and tried to have an actual decent conversation with him and he threw it all away.
D raised his brow at her, "What? What got you so silent? In fact. I noticed you've been staying really silent whenever you're around me for the last few months. What's up with you? Suddenly didn't felt like touching me for simply voicing my opinion and wanting to take my job seriously? My opinion on you not belonging there and on A changing your and your worlds fate will never change. The sooner you accept this, the better."
"...That's it! I'm fucking done! I tried to be nice to you and you still...!" Devola snapped, feelling everything she had boiled within herself for the last few months beginning to erupt inside her body as she swung her fist at D with an intention of punching him. Despite her trying to ignore him like she did for the last few months, her body acted without think in the moment. Her fist never reached D, though as he caught it before she could hit him. She blinked in suprise at this situation, "...What?"
"Don't try this shit with me again." D glared at her, getting up from his seat as he wasted no time and replied to Devola's attack with an attack of his own. For the first time since all this dislike between him and Devola started, he actually fought back and punched her in return.
Devola clenched her teeth, feeling D's fist collide with her face as her suprise caused by him catching her fist prevented her from dodging it. She stared at him with a suprised look on her face, looking like her face was processing what just happend as she wasn't expecting this to actually happen. Whenever she swung her fist at him, it always ended with her punching him and knocking him down. Nothing like this had ever happened before.
It was when she felt some negative memories she had tried to bury somewhere deep in her mind came flooding back in. She recalled all the times when she and her sister were mistreated by the androids from the Resistance Camp and how some of them even hurt them from time to time. All of it came back to her in this moment and it caused her all the emotions she had boiled within her after listening to A2's advice to explode. All the anger he held towards him for the last few months had came out and she intended to show it to him.
"...That hurt, you asshole!" She shouted with an enraged look on her face a few seconds later, having just processed everything as she pushed herself out of her shocked state and swung her fist at him again. This time, however, she succeded in her intention and managed to land a hit on D.
D clenched his teeth, taking a step backwards a bit as she felt his vision becoming a bit blurry about this punch. Something about this one particular punch felt more personal and emotional. He quickly collected himself from the punch and glared at her, letting her knew he was not going to back down from whatever she was doing right now like he always did before. With his glare refusing to leave his face, he swung his fist at her again with an intention of landing a punch on her again.
Devola dodged the attack, having ackowledged the possibility of D punching her again once she'll punch him and having prepared for it. D rolled his eyes in frustation, seeing her dodge her attack and intended not to stop with it and attempted to punch her again. The result was the same and his second failed punch left a good opening for Devola to do something. Not wasting any time, she swung her fist right at him and managed to land a second hit on him, punching him in the side of his head.
D stumbled to the side a bit, almost tripping in his own tracks due to the force of the punch and felt his vision becoming blurry again, but he wasn't going to let this stop him. Despite his vision being blurry, he managed to keep a good understanding of his surroundings and saw a blurry figure of Devola heading towards him and swinging her fist at him again. Before the shadowy fist could hit him again, he managed to move to the side just in time and it seemed to make Devola frustated.
As both of them continued their fight and continued to exchange blows with each other with lesser or bigger success, they remained unaware someone had just walked into the dining room. Popola was the said person as she wanted to get start with cleaning the mess from the party last night. She froze in her tracks upon entering the dining room, though as she saw her sister and D trading blows with each other while trying to land good punches on each other and it instantly made her realize what was happening.
After shaking herself off the shock of what she was seeing right now, she pushed herself into walk towards the scene to stop the fight between her sister and D. She stopped in her tracks a second later, realizing how she probably will be unable to separate them alone and quickly turned away from the scene and ran out of the dining room in search for help. She internally hoped she will find someone before these two will hurt themselves in any way.
D kept dodging all the punches Devola had directed his way, waiting for his vision to become good again. Once it happened, he stopped next to the table he had sat by earlier where the empty glass bottle had remained. Wasting no time, he grabbed the empty bottle from the table when she got too close to him as he smashed the battle on her head, causing it to break into pieces and making a sharp weapon out of it.
Devola's eyes widened at the view of it, finding herself taken aback by D picking something like this during their fight, but quickly shook off her suprised feelings as she knew now it wasn't the time to be suprised. Her thoughts were quickly confirmed as D began swinging the bottle at her, keeping himself focused on her as the thoughts of stopping with this until he'll land a good hit on her with the bottle hadn't bothered to cross his mind.
He got the moment he was waiting for a second later as Devola had stepped on something on the floor, making her stumble a bit in her tracks and it gave D a perfect chance to do something. He swung the bottle right at her face, cutting her cheek with the sharp glass. As soon as it happened, artificial red blood began to pour out of Devola's wound. A small bit of her skin was peeled off as well, revealing the black endoskeleton she had underneath.
Devola stepped away from him, clenching her teeth from the pain and placed her hand on her cut cheek. After touching it, she glared at D and glare at him like she wanted to skin him alive, "You son of a bitch!"
Acting without think, Devola pushed herself into charge towards D and D wasted no time and swung his weapon at her again. The android dodged it, though as she had no intention of getting wounded further and rammed herself into D. D's eyes widened, feeling the hard body of an android rushing right into him as he felt the air leave his lungs for a second. He landed on the ground, feeling his bottle getting knocked out of his grasp and quickly took a deep breath to regain his breath.
"...Guys! Stop!" Popola voice rang through their ears, having just arrived back in the dining room with a few others. D looked towards the source of the voice, finding himself distracted by it.
Devola used the fact that he just got distracted to her advantage and kicked him straight in the face. The force of the kick was massive and it was a miracle he wasn't knocked out by it. It left something on his face, though. A mark was left on one part of his face. Devola wasn't planning on stopping with just this one kick as she was planning to kick him again and again and again. Her plans never became a reality, though as A and Popola grabbed her before she could do anything and began to drag her away.
What instantly caught everyone's attention was the fact that she was crying...
"You asshole!" She shouted at D angrily, having angry tears streaming down on her face as Popola and A began to drag her away, "You have a fucking audacity to keep telling me how I don't belong here and how my life should have played out like it was planned to by my creator! Do you know how it feels like to be hated by everyone!? Do you know how it feels like to feel constant guilt of something which happened thousands of years ago...!"
D paid no attention to whatever Devola was screaming to him as she was dragged out of the dining room by A and Popola as he found himself becoming too blurry from the kick to the face he had just received from her. What he was certain about, however, was the fact that she wasn't the only one screaming right now. He could have sworn two or three voices to him were asking him what he was thinking by starting a fight with Devola, but he couldn't make out any of those voices.
Before he could regain any of his senses and find out who those voices belonged to, he found himself getting dragged away and out of the dining room as well. From the grip of this person, he could tell who it was. It was X. She must have arrived at the room along with A, Popola and the others. Considering it was X, he wasn't really suprised he arrived at the scene of the fight. It was something he would definitely do.
He found himself getting seated somewhere a second later and looked up at the person in front of him, feeling himself regaining his vision and saw exactly who he expected to see. It was X. From the look she had on her face right now, he could tell she was worried for him, but at the same time seemed to be angry and disappointed with him. He rolled his eyes, knowing what kind of talk was ahead of him.
"...D. What happened back there?" She asked a few moments later, now convinced he had composed himself from the kick from Devola.
"Do I really need to explain this to you?" D asked, "I thought it was made pretty obvious."
X shook her head at him with a disappointed look on her face, "Why you think it was a good idea to start a fight with Devola? Why do you keep saying all of those things to her even if you know how much it hurts her? Have you seen how broken and hurt she looked like when A and Popola took her away?"
D shrugged, trying to appear unbothered by all of it, "I just told her what I think. Not my fault she can't handle the truth."
X once again shook her head at him, "D. It's not her fault she reacts like this when you say those things to her. How would you feel in her place?
"Too bad. I didn't even asked for this job and seperated from everyone and yet those are the cards I have to deal it without having a chance to change it." D pointed out, his voice slowly starting to break the further he went into the sentence.
X's disappointed gaze vanished from her face the moment she heard D utter those words, "What?"
"You heard me right." D nodded in confirmatio, beginning to get up. His confirmation quickly filled X with worry towards him, making her forget about the disappointment she felt just a few moments earlier.
"D..." X said, looking at him with a worried look on her face as she eyed the state D was in right now and saw just how terrible he looked like. She realized some parts of his terrible apperance didn't have anything to do with his fight as well and his heavy bags under his eyes were a proof of it. As she continued to eye him, she noticed something new on his face. It was a mark left by Devola's boot after she kicked him, "...What is this?"
D raised his brow at her, looking more like was not trying to break down with each passing second, "What?"
"Your mark on your face. You didn't have this before. We should go to N and have her take a look at it. Maybe she can..." X began to say, reaching out towards the mark on his face in order to examine it, but D cut her off.
"No. I don't need it. Leave me alone. I want to be alone." D cut her off in a tearful voice, brushing off her concerns and moving away from her before she could touch his mark. X called out for him again in worry, but he ignored her, not feeling like talking with her and simply wanting to be left alone. Once he made sure he was out of her and everyone else's hearing range, he released the tears he was holding inside his eyes and began to cry.
While D continued to cry somewhere in the HQ after making sure he was left alone by everyone, the group of three in the form of A, Popola and Devola were inside A's room while the former two were doing their best to comfort the latter after what just happened between her and D. Popola hugging her sister, allowing her to cry into her shoulder while A was behind Devola and rubbing her back comfortingly as he wanted to help her as much as he could.
"Hey. It's okay, sister..." Popola muttered to her sister a softly as she could right now. Due to how much her sister was crying right now, her clothes were becoming stained with her tears. She didn't care about it, though. What she cared more about right now was taking care of her distressed sister.
"I-It's not!" Devola replied in a shaky muffled voice, crying into her sisters shoulder, "Why does he have to be like that? I didn't even do anything to him. I just wanted to start a small talk with him..."
"Don't worry, Devola." A told him, continuing to rub her back while trying to be as comforting as he can, "I'll go talk with him later."
"Talk with him?" Devola repeated after him, her voice remaining muffled, "You already tried talking with him and look at the results of them! He won't change his way of thinking. He will always view me, my sister and every other character like this..."
A shook his head, "No. Just don't worry about it. I'll say something to get through to him this time. I promise."
"How can you be so sure it will work?" Devola wanted to know.
"I don't know. Just trust me on this. Okay?" A once again shook his head as Devola didn't answer to him this time and kept sobbing into Popola's shoulder.
Popola looked down at her sister in worry after a moment of silence, seeing her becoming silent all of a sudden, "Sister?"
"Are you there?" A asked, finding himself growing silent by the sudden silence from her as well/
Devola kept herself for the next few "...I-I just wanted to have my new life where I'm not hated by everyone here. Am I asking for too much?"
"Dev..." A began to say something to her. He never got a chance to fully voice what he wanted to say to her, though as the door to his room was suddenly opened. He and Popola looked towards it and even Devola lifted her head up from Popola's shoulder, revealing her tear stained face to who it was.
They saw C and she looked like she could use some sleep, "Guys..."
"What is it, C?" A asked, "It this about what happened...?"
C shook her head with a serious look on her face, adjusting her glasses as she let out a tired yawn, "No. It's about something else."
"What do you mean? What is it?" A wanted to know what she meant as Popola and Devola silently raised their brows at her, taking their minds off of what just happened for a second and asking themselves about whatever C wanted to tell them about.
C looked at him with a completely serious look on her face when she gave him her answer, "You need come with me. Me and R detected something powerful in the multiverse last night and didn't get any sleep because of it. We did a research after discovering it and all I can say right now is that it ain't friendly..."
-----
Here we go with the next chapter of something which was hinted throughout the last couple of the chapters with the way Devola and D reacted to each other when they were seeing each other or when they were brought up to each other. With this chapter out, we also have entered an arc which will show show one of the most important events in the watchers lore and it is something I've been looking forward towards writing since the idea for this story first popped into my mind back in 2021.
