A: Fixing the World
Now
A sat up on his bed, feeling as well and rested as he had just woken up from his slumber. He let out a satisfied exhale, shifting her gaze to the side and saw the spot next to him empty. The person who usually woke up next to him was not present on it right now. He shrugged his shoulders to himself at this. He didn't question himself where the said person was right now as they always woke up earlier than him. A got up from his bed and started to make his way into the kitchen of the house.
He walked into the kitchen shortly after and felt a smile growing on his face as he saw the person he was looking for right now. Her laid his eyes on more soft from the android sisters Popola. The android with a straight red hair stood with her back facing him as she stood in front of stove, preparing something to eat on it. He quietly made his way to her, not wanting to alert her of his presence for now and wrapped his hands around her from behind, giving her a welcoming hug.
"Hey." He greeted her, tightening his hug a little but not too much as he didn't want anything to happen with the food she was preparing right now.
Popola smiled slightly at the hug, having gotten used to A giving her those each morning a long time ago as she kept her eyes focused on whatever she was making right now, "Good morning. I hope you slept well."
"I did." A nodded in confirming, pulling away from Popola to give her more space as he stepped over to the counter next to him and leaned against it, "What about you? Did you sleep well?"
"You know I always sleep well." Popola smiled. It was one of the perks of being an android. No matter what, you'd always get enough rest. Unless you'll get a nightmare while sleeping. If that happens, then the sleep can get quite unpleasant. She gestured to her head with her head to the side, "I already made some of our morning coffee. Help yourself if you wan to."
"Really? You're so sweet." A said as he looked in the direction she had just gestured to and saw some freshly brewed coffee. Popola blushed at his praise as A walked over to the coffee and picked up his mug. He poured himself some coffe and took a sip of it, feeling his smile grow at how it tasted. Popola really knew how to make coffee taste tasty.
"What are your plans for today?" Popola wanted to know, "Will you still be meeting up with the council?"
"Yes." A nodded in confirmation, taking a sip from his coffee, "I got a call from Anemone, Emil and White yesterday and they told me the meeting is still happening. They told me Pascal will join us for it in person as well."
"Not suprising." Popola nodded in understanding. Pascal usually stayed in his village for the meetings, having massively expanded in it over the course of last three years and contacted the council through his Pod whenever the meeting between them was taking place, "Considering this matter involves him and his village as well."
"Yeah." A agreed with her, "I just hope everything goes according to our plan and he and his village will be the key of solving this problem. The settlement we discovered across the dessert consist of machines. Maybe if they will see the machines from over here living in peace with the androids, then they maybe will be more open to this idea."
Popola looked over her shoulder at him with an assuring look on her face, "I wouldn't worry so much about it. You managed to convince the machines, even the machines from the forest, to live in peace with the androids over here. I'm sure everything will work out here as well."
"Like it worked out with Adam and Eve?" A brought up to her. If there was one thing he would consider a failure during his time in this world, it was when how failed to convince Adam and Eve to change themselves from their canon self and had to make sure they will be stopped. He really wished things had played out differently with them. He really did.
Popola sighed, "You keep bringing them up whenever something like this happens. You know you can't blame yourself for what happened with them. Adam and Eve made their choice and refused even after you revealed who you were to them. There was nothing you coul have done back then."
"I know." A admitted, letting out a sigh himself, "I still doesn't change the fact that I wish things turned out differently with them. Maybe they would change their mind if they saw all the changes we did since me and my fellow watchers first arrived in your world."
Popola set the frying pan down on the stove as she walked over to A and put her hand on his cheek, "I'm sure they would A. Maybe if we weren't forced to kill them back then, I'm sure you'd find a way to convince them."
"Yeah. Perharps." A smiled at her gratefully. Sometimes he really wondered what did he do to deserve someone like Popola as his partner. Popola pulled her hand away from his cheek as he kissed on her on the cheek and pushed himself into walk, "I'll be in the living room if you'll need me."
"Alright." Popola nodded, going back to the food she was working on right now, "I'll join you in a few minutes. I'm just about to finish with your breakfast."
A nodded in understanding as he walked out of the kitchen and made his way into the living room. He laid his eyes on the window on his right and made his way over to it as he wanted to take a look outside. Pushing the curtains away, he was immediately greeted with the sun shining right at him. Luckilly he already got used to the light after waking up and he won't have to deal with the usual stuff you'd deal when facing the light shortly after waking up or after staying in the dark for some time.
Upon setting his eyes outside the house he had owned in this world, he felt his smile grow at how the city ruins looked right now compared to what they did a little over three years ago when he and his fellow watchers first arrived here. The ruins looked far from ruins right now and looked more like a living city with both androids and machines residing in it. Sometimes he really liked just to stare out of the window at the city just to watch how far everything has come and changed for the better in this world after he and his fellow watchers arrived in it for the first time.
------
Earlier: 3 years ago
A group of fourteen watchers sat together in a room. Or rather thirteen of them sat and one of them stood in front of them. A was the watcher standing in front of everyone as he stood in front of a whiteboard on which everyone's names were written in black marker. He had gathered the said twelve watchers in this room as he wanted to fill them in on the idea all of them had agreed to participate in after he explained his intentions to the fellow watchers and the idea he had gotten several days ago.
His idea consisted of them using their ability of visting various worlds to visit their first world and the said world being the world of NieR around the time the events of NieR: Automata started. He knew choosing the version of this world where the events of the game were about to start was the best for his plan as it would allow him to put everything he had planned into action without going through any unpleasant complications in the process.
Now all he had to do was actually putting his plan into action. He looked around all the watchers gathered in front of him as the group consisted of the watchers such as B, Q, C, S, Y, T, K, R, P, W, N, M and G. He asked the rest of the watchers if they wanted to join them in it and all of them refused for their own reasons. For most of them it was because they still felt uncertain about visiting a world, yet and he couldn't blame them for it, considering, just like he said, had this job for a little over a month.
He was really glad and grateful all of them agreed to participate in it and help him out with his plan neverthless. If there was one thing he always wanted to do in the NieR's world after playing NieR: Automata for the first time, it was making sure the characters in this game got the happy ending they deserved and unfortunely the game was preventing them from getting it. With him becoming a watcher of the multiverse and having an ability of visiting various worlds, he knew he could finally make it a reality.
"Everyone. Listen." He began, looking between everyone gathered in front of him as he intended to fill them in on every details of his plan, "I'm really glad and grateful all of you decided to help me out in the operation I've been planning out for the past two weeks. I know some of you may be thinking it may a bit too early for us to visit a world because of us having this job for a little over a month, but I'm certain this opearation will go without facing any powerful opponent if anything goes according to the plan."
He looked around everyone upon uttering those words, feeling how all of them had their eyes on him as he stepped aside a bit to give them a better view on the whiteboard and to give them a hint of what their parts in this plan. He stopped next to the whiteboard, standing in the position which would allow him to point at each part of the plan he had written down on it.
"As you already see." He gestured to the whiteboard, "I wrote down the parts of the plan which include you on this whiteboard. All of you have been split up into six teams of two. Why six and not even, considering there is fourteen of us? You'll find out in a moment. Now allow me to explain you the details of your roles."
He pointed at the pair at the top of the whiteboard, starting with them, "B and Q." The two said watchers looked up at him as he began his explanation of their parts of the plan, "Both of you will go into the Forest Kingdom and try to collect A2 from it. I understand that it may encounter difficulties, considering that it is A2 and I won't blame you if you'll fail to convince her at first, but I trust you and I trust you will manage to get her to come with to the Resistance Camp with you."
"Aye, aye. Captain!" Q nodded, doing a salute, wrapping her other arm around B as B silently nodded in understanding. It really amazed everyone at the HQ how these two become such close friends over the course of the last month, despite being different from each other in many ways, "You'll see! Both us and A2 will be the first ones to arrive at the camp."
"I'll make sure to remember your words, Q." A chuckled at Q's enthusiasm and the excitement she was showing at the thought of visiting a different world. He pointed at the names below B and Q and went further into his explanation of his plan, "K and T. Both of you will go to the dessert and collect Jackass. Personally I don't think you will have much trouble with her, considering you will have to just tell her about Anemone sending you or it having something to do with science but I would still keep my eyes for the machines in the dessert."
"Got it." T nodded at him with a smile on his face as K looked annoyed about having to work with him. He shifted his gaze to K a second later, "We will have tons of fun with it. Don't you think, K?"
K rolled her eyes at him, "Shut up."
"P and R." The two said watchers looked up at A as soon as they were brought up by him. A knew it would be for the best if he cut into T and K before it would evolve into their usual banter where K tries not to kill T, "Your mission is to find 22B, 8B and 64B and to bring them to the camp. Just like B and Q, you can get some trouble with them because of them YoRHa's deserters, just like A2, but I don't they will be as hard to convince as A2 is. 8B has been shown to care about 64B and 22B and I'm sure she will be open minded if you will her you have no ill intention."
P nodded in understanding, "Got it."
"This will be so much fun~." R smiled in excitement, "You couldn't have chosen a better world for us to visit during our first visit, A! This game has a wonderful character design~."
C pinched the bridge of her nose, "Don't start with this..."
R smiled at her innocently, "What? I'm just showing my interest in it."
C rolled her eyes, "Exactly. Not everyone wants to know what's going on through that pervy mind of yours."
"Aww. Why do you have to be so mean?" R asked, putting her hand on her heart as C sighed, refusing to give her a answer to this question. She shifted her gaze to P a second later, "Hey. Do you think 8B and her squad will display her gratitude to me in some way after they will learn the truth~?"
P blinked at her, "Why are you asking me?"
"What? As your fellow member of SEA, I'm just curious about your thoughts on it." R explained to her as P shook her head. R looked around herself and smirked slightly, seeing a few people around her growing flustered by her words. If there was one thing all of them learned about R over the course of the last month, it was she was a massive pervert.
A cleared his throat, stopping the conversation from going any further, "S and Y will go to Pascal's village and try to get him to come to the Resistance Camp. Once again, I don't think you will have much problem with it as I'm certain Pascal will agree to come with you straight away if you will show him you know Anemone and tell him she needs to talk with him in the camp."
"Alright." Y voiced his understanding of his plan of the part as he shifted his gaze to S and smiled at him, "Looks like it's you and me, buddy."
"Looks like it." S smiled back at him, not minding working with Y as he shifted his gaze to A and nodded at him, "You can count on us, A."
"I know." A smiled at them and pointed to the last pair on the whiteboard, "M and G. Both of you will go to the commercial facility and find Emil in it. Since 2B and 9S didn't visit the place at this point of this story, Emil's head should still be there hidden in one of the machines. You'll just have to find a way to get it out."
M nodded in understanding, "Okay."
"Do you think we'll be fine with it?" G asked with a bit of uncertainity his voice, "You said it yourself we just started our job and this part of the plan will require me and M to fight to get Emil's head out of the machine."
A nodded in confirmation, "Yes. I'm certain you will will do fine. You shouldn't have had much problems with the machines in the commercial facility and I observed you training your super weapons for the past week. Out of everyone in this room, you were the best picks for this job."
G looked more certain about his role in the plan after hearing A's words, "Alright."
M wrapped his arm around G with a smile on his face, "Don't worry much about it, buddy. You'll see. We'll kick some machine butt together."
G smiled slightly back at him, "Alright. I'll make sure to trust trust you with my back with this."
A nodded at them, pointing at the last pair on the whiteboard, "And the last ones are W and N. Both of you will go over here and will retrieve 4S before bringing him back to the camp with the rest. Just like Y and S and T and K, I don't think you have any problems with your job as 4S should come with you without any problems."
"Alright." W said in understanding of his job as he shifted his gaze to N and held his hand out to her, "Let's do our best, N."
N smiled with a slight blush forming on her face as she fist bumped him. A shook his head with a smile at the scene as R watched these two with a smirk on her face face. The fact that N was, to some extent, infatuated with W became a common knowledge across the HQ in the last several days. Unfortunely W didn't seem to notice the glances the mute young woman often directed towards him.
A nodded his head to himself a second later, looking around everyone in the room as he got to the next part of his plan, "Now. With this matter aside, I'm certain many of you are wonder why I haven't included myself or C in either of the team. The answer to this is simple. I discussed it with C yesterday and both of us came to a mutual conclusion. C will be joining us for this operation, but won't be joining us directly."
C adjusted her glasses a bit as A looked at her, allowing her to take over, "Exactly. I will remain in contact with you through the earpieces and will give you any info you'll need. No matter if it will be something going wrong for any of us or I will have to let you about the unpredicted danger."
S nodded in understanding, "Alright."
"We'll trust you with our backs, C." G added with a smile on his face as C nodded back at him.
"Show us what you can do." R added her part as well as C shifted her gaze to her. C narrowed her eyes at her, unsure what R meant by this because of it was R. She looked at her with a more gentler look on her face right after, seeing R meant those words in a supportive way and not in a way she'd expect from her.
C smiled at the supportive words from her, "Thank you. I'll do my best."
R nodded, "Of course. It wouldn't be you if you didn't."
"What about you A?" M asked as A hadn't shared his role in his plan with them, "What will you do?"
"I'll go straight into the Resistance Camp to get us into contact with both Anemone and White." A explained.
P looked at him questioningly, "Alright. I can understand Anemone, but how you will get into contact with White? I doubt Anemone will give you an access to contact her straight away if you'll ask her to."
"Don't worry about it." A assured her, "I already came up with a way how to get into contact with Anenome. With the introduction mission having already taken place the version we will visit, there should be some YoRHa equipment left in the factory. I'll go there and collect it. After I'll introduce myself to Anemone, I'll tell her about me finding some missing YoRHa equipment and tell her to contact White."
P nodded, "Alright."
"What if the equipment will already be gone?" K asked, "I hate to be that person, but you know it's a possibility as well."
"I already got it covered. Don't worry." A reassured her, "If this part won't go according to the plan, I already came up with an alternatative."
Y crossed his arms, "Let me guess. You'll convince Anemone to have you contact White by showing her your super weapon?"
"Yup." A nodded in confirmation. It was true. His super weapon could pass off as something from NieR's world as it looked like Demon's Crow, having been inspired by this weapon from this game.
T rubbed the back of his head, "Why won't he just go to the camp with it straight away instead of going to the factory to collect the equipment at first?"
K rolled her eyes, "Wow. Never expected I would hear you make such a good question."
T smiled at her, "I'm full of suprises."
"Because I think it would be for the best if I appeared at the camp with more of YoRHa equipment." A explained to them, "This way I will appear more reliable with my story of stumbling some of the YoRHa equipment by the incident."
"Okay." T replied in understanding as K silently nodded.
Q raised her hand like a kid in school, "I have a question, A."
A looked at her questioningly, "Yeah, Q?"
"Why won't be reveal ourselves to us right away?" Q voiced her question to him.
A nodded at the question and provided her an explanation, "Because I think it would be for the best if we had all of those characters gathered in one place for the revelation. This way can avoid any misunderstandings between the characters who will know this and the characters who won't know this."
Q nodded in understanding, "Alright."
"Is that everything?" W wanted to know.
"Yes." A nodded in confirmation, "It's everything I had to tell you today. Go to your rooms and get ready and rested. We'll be moving out to put this plan into action tommorow morning."
All the watchers taking place in this operation nodded in understanding and got up from their seats. Not wasting any time, all of them pushed themselves into walk and walked out of the room as A watched them leave. He chuckled to himself, seeing the watchers like R excitedly talking to P and C about visiting this world and both of them knowing one of the main reasons why R wants to visit it or Q grabbing B's shoulders and shaking him excitedly, telling him how they will have their visit in a new world together and B seeming to smile at it slightly.
Not wasting any time, he pushed himself into walk as well and followed his fellow watchers out of the room, making sure to close the door behind him as he was the last one to walk out of the room. Tommorow was a big day for him and he wanted to as rested as possible for it. No matter what happened tomorrow, he hoped that everything would turn out well.
------
It was the next day and A walked through the city ruins, making his way towards the Resistance Camp as he had his eyes set on the Virtuous Treaty he had stumbled upon when he was searching the area around the factory in order to find some of the lost YoRHa equipment to fulfill his part of the plan. With him having found 2B's weapon in the factory, he knew his plan of getting into contact with 2B and 9S and using them to get into contact with Commander White was closer to getting completed.
His road to Anemone's camp was uneventful. He was fortunate enough not to get ambushed by any machines on his way to his destination. It wasn't long before he entered one area of the city and saw it consisted mainly of water which was reaching his ankles. Water splashed underneath his boots as he looked around himself to get a better look at this area. Only a few grassy fields around him and A2 weren't covered by water which made them look like small islands.
A nodded to himself, recognizing this area from the game and recalled the entrance to the Resistance Camp was located. He looked in the direction where he remembered the entrance was and saw a small alleyway between the buildings was going to take him. He pushed himself into walk towards the alleyway between the two buildings. He walked past the tall two constructions made of wood and plates and turned the corner on the right.
Af ollowed the path between the old abandoned buildings and found himself in the Resistance camp a few seconds later. A few androids in the camp shifted their attention from whatever they happened to be doing when he entered their camp, probably because of his clothing which stood out from the rest of them, but most of them continued to do whatever they were doing at the moment of his arrival.
A ignored the looks he received from some of the androids from the camp and looked around himself, seeing the familiar figure of Anemone in the place she usually was in the game. He started to make his way towards her. Just as he was getting closer to her, someone bumped into him and looked at the android he had just bumped into. His eyes widened in suprise as he immediately recognized the said android as Popola. She wasn't alone, though. Devola was standing just a few inches behind her.
"I'm sorry! I didn't mean to bump into you!" Popola into exclaimed as she began checking his body as if she was feared him getting damaged in some way by her. A relieved sigh escaped her lips several seconds later after she saw that nothing was wrong with him, though the fearful expression remained on her face.
"It's okay. It was just an accident." A told her, knowing Popola acted like this because of the way the other android were treating her and Devola. if he was honest with himself, he wished he could give them a piece of hid mind for the way they were treating the twins, "I'm at fault here as well. I should pay more attention to my surroundings."
"It alright, sister." Devola spoke up in an attempt to calm her sister down, placing her hand on her shoulder, "You heard him, right? He is not angry at you for bumping into him. It was an accident."
Her words seemed to calm down her sister down as her fearful expression faded away from her face. A turned away from her and went to the side of the camp he was heading towards to, before he bumped into her, "I will get going now. Have a good day, both of you."
As the watcher went back to what he was doing, Devola and Popola made their way to the different part of the camp to take care of their own business. There was something A failed to notice about the twins when he walked away from them. It was the questioning way Popola looked at him as if she was wondering something about him. Her sister seemed to notice it, though and asked her about it.
Upon making his way to Anemone, A called out to her, "Excuse me. Anemone?"
Anemone turned away from the papers she was looking through right now and turned around to look at at A, "Yes? Who are you? I've never seen you around here before."
"My name is Aar..." A paused for a second, realizing he can't use his old name, "My name is A." He pulled out Virtuous Treaty and showed it to Anemome, "When I was exploring the factory not too far from here, I stumbled upon this blade. From what I learned it belongs to something called YoRHa and I came here to ask you if you know those YoRHa androids as I wish to return it to them."
Anemone nodded at him, "Yeah. We work with YoRHa all the time. If you had come earlier, you might have found a couple of YoRHa, but they left not too long ago."
"I see." A said in understanding, "Could you contact them and tell them about me bringing here a weapon which belongs to them?"
"I will." Anemone nodded in understanding, "You can wait them here."
A nodded back at her, "Alright."
Anemone stepped forward, motioning to A to follow her, "Come with me. I'll take you to the room where you'll wait for them."
A nodded in understanding and followed Anemone. Both of them walked through the camp and reached their destination in the form of a room at the other end of the camp. A recognized it as the room where 2B and 9S would usually sleep in the game. As soon as they reached the room, Anemone opened it quickly before signaling me to enter. Upon entering it, she closed the door, and looked directly at A.
"While you can stay, I want you to not leave this room I'll contact them and they'll come here. I'm sure they'll have a lot of questions and I want to hear the answers myself." She told him, making sure he heard all of it.
"Understood." A voiced his understanding of it as Anemome turned away from him and left the room, leaving him alone there.
A looked around the room upon getting left alone in it and walked over to the closer bed. He sat down on it, putting Virtuous Treaty aside and nodded to himself as he decided it would be the best time to contact C and ask her how the other watchers were doing with their tasks right now. It would help him kill the time as well.
He reached up and touched his earpiece, "C. It's A. Can you hear me?"
C's voice rang throug his ears a second later, "...Yeah. I can hear you loud and clear. How's your part of the plan doing?"
"Everything goes according to the plan so far." A began his answer, "I found the YoRHa equipment by the factory and I'm in the Resistance Camp right now and are waiting for the YoRHA android to arrive at the camp. What about the rest. How are they doing?"
C provided him the answer a second later, "Everyone seemed to be alright as well from what they told me when I contacted them. B and Q are on their way to the camp with A2. The same goes with R and P with 8B's squad and T and K with Jackass."
A smiled at this, "Alright. Glad to hear everyone are not having problems with their tasks and good to know some of them are on their way to the camp. Did they tell you anything else when you contacted?"
"Other than T and Jackass finding a common language, much to K's dismay and B and A2 hugging..." C began her explanation.
"Wait a second." A cut her off, "B hugged A2?"
"Yeah." C confirmed it to him, "From what I've been told by Q, A2 didn't even push him away."
A looked pleasantly suprised by it, "Wow."
"She keeps their cold behavior, though. Q told me you you'll know what she means by this." C added to what she said a moment earlier.
A nodded in understanding. He knew what Q meant this. He wasn't disappointed by it, though. He knew they should be taking one step at the time when it comes to A2, "...Alright. What about R and P? Have they told you anything about their task?"
C sighed, "They did. I don't think you want to know about what they told me, though."
A raised his brow at this, "What do you mean?"
"R is getting flirty with 8B and her squad." C gave him a short explanation of it, not wanting to go into details here.
"Oh..." A replied. He hated how a part of him was not suprised by it, considering it was R they were talking about, "Alright. Spare me the details of it."
"Gladly." A could tell C was relieved when she gave him her answer, "That's everything I have to tell you about the others. If anything comes up, I'll just let you know."
"Alright. Thanks." A nodded at this. A question popped into his mind, "Wait. Don't hang up, yet. I just got a question."
"What is it?" C wanted to know.
"Did any of them had to reveal themselves to be humans?" A voiced her question to him.
"Yes." C gave him the reply, "I know this wasn't how you planned but B and Q had no choice with A2. The same goes with R and P with 8B and her squad. Neither of the pairs think they would come with them if they didn't reveal their humanity to them."
"Alright." A nodded in understanding. Even though he wished A2 and 8B and her squad remained unaware of it until the revelation part of his plan would come up, he couldn't blame B, Q, R and P for revealing their humanity to them. If thought it was the only way of completing their tasks, then he trusted them on this.
"Do you want to know anything else?" C wanted to be sure if A had no more question for her after this.
"No. That was all I wanted to ask you about." A told her as C voiced her understanding of it and hung up, ending her conversation with him. As soon as A finished his conversation with C, the door to the room was opened loudly and A looked in the direction of it and saw Popola and Devola staring at him with their eyes wide in shock and their mouth hanging open.
"...Y-You're a human?" Popola stuttered out in shock as she took a step into the room, her sister quietly following her.
"Great job, idiot. It was your own idea and you screwed it up." A thought to himself, his internally tone showing how much he was angry and disappointed with himself as he saw Devola and Popola walk further into the room, the former closing the door behind her. He saw both of them looking at him hopefully and sighed, giving his answer as he knew there was no point of hiding it right now, "Yes, Popola. I'm a human."
Popola smiled at the confirmation, her face litting up as if was her birthday and christmas at the same time as Devola looked more suspicious about it and made sure to voice her suspicions, "Hold on a second. How can we know you're a human? Anyone can waltz into the camp and made a claim like this about themselves."
Popola's smile immediatelry faded from her face at Devola's words, knowing they can't take A's words for granted without any proof. A shifted his gaze between the sisters, knowing they made a valid point and an idea how to prove his humanity to them quickly popped into his mind. He picked up Virtuous Treaty and pressed it's blade against his palm, cutting himself slightly and making his hand bleed.
The effect of his action was immediate as Popola and Devola immediately jumped into action. Popola took Virtuous Treaty away from him and Devola immediately patched him up and wrapped a bandage around his hand. As a healer, she must have been keeping it to close to herself. After making sure A's wound was patched up, all three of them sat down on the bed in the room and A shifted his gaze between Devola and Popola.
Devola looked at him with a concerned look on her face, "What made you think it was a good idea?"
"Androids were programmed to keep their human creators safe. I knew it would get a reaction out of you and prove my humanity to you." A explained as he shifted his gaze between Devola and Popola, "Even though I would wish my humanity remained secret for a few more moments, I'm glad it was both of you."
Popola looked at him her questioningly, "What do you mean?"
"Because I know your story and what happened to you. You didn't deserve any of it. The failure of Project Gestalt was not your fault." A told them as Devola and Popola froze at his words. A stared at them silently as Popola and Devola slowly wrapped their arms around him and began to cry at his words. Hearing something like from a human must have meant a lot for them and was enough to make them emotional.
A allowed the twins to let it all out, offering them the comfort he knew they needed right now. He slowly rubbed their backs comfortingly, feeling his shirt becoming stained with the tears of the androinds. It lasted for a few minutes. The few minutes which felt like an eternity for A. After the two androids pulled away from the hug, they looked looked at him with smiles on their faces and tear marks staining their cheeks.
"Can I ask you something?" Popola asked, wiping off the tear marks from her cheeks.
A nodded, "Of course."
"Who was the person you were talking with before I asked you if you were really a human?" Popola voiced her question to him as Devola nodded at the question.
A wasted no time and provided her an explanation, "It was just a friend of mine. She was keeping me informed of how our friends are doing righ tnow."
Devola gasped in shock, "Wait? There's more of you?"
A nodded in confirmation, "Yes."
"Why aren't they in the camp with you right now?" Popola asked, beginning to grow worried about A's friends and Devola seemed to be growing about them as well, "The city can get really dangerous with all those machines around. Can you call them now? It will be safer for them to be in the camp..."
"Don't worry about my friends." A smiled at them in a reassuring manner, "My friends will be fine and some of the are already on their way to this camp. They just had to take care of their own tasks before coming here."
"Are you sure?" Popola wanted to be sure.
A nodded in confirmation, "Yes. You'll see. There'll be here in no time."
Just as they were about to continue their conversation, someone knocked on the door to the room and all three of them shifted their attention to it. A got up from the bed and stepped closer to the bed, already having an idea of who could it be as he knew there could have been only one reason why would anyone knock on the door right now. Unless someone eavesdropped on his conversation with the twins.
He opened the door and was greeted by the sight of Anemone, "Anemone? How can I help you?"
"You wanted me to tell you when the YoRHA units will arrive at the camp. They are here now." Anemone explained, pointing behind her as A looked behind her and saw 2B and 9S standing behind her.
A's eyes slightly widened at how 2B and 9S were already at the camp. They must have been already on their way here when Anemone contracted them. He quickly composed himself and stepped aside, motioning to them to come into the room, "Of course. Come in on. We can talk inside."
Not wasting anytime, Anemone walked into the room, wanting to get this situation over with and set her eyes on Devola and Popola as 2B and 9S silently followed her into the room with Pod 153 and Pod 042 floating behind them. She looked at A questioningly a second later and opened her mouth, looking like she was about to ask him something.
A quickly took notice of it and gave Anemome the reply before she could voice her question, "Before you ask, they stay here. I need them for my explanation."
Anemone raised her brow, "How do you need them for this?"
"I'll explain in a moment." A replied as Anemone looked more confused and interested by whatever A had to explain to them. He shifted his attention to 2B and 9S a second later.
"So...." 9S began, "Anemone told us there is something you wish to discuss with the YoRHA units when she called us."
"Yeah. I wished to talk with some YoRHa units as I wanted to return the YoRHa equipment I stumbled upon when I was looking for supplies at the factory." A explained, pointing towards Virtuous Treaty he had put down on the bed earlier as 9S and 2B immediately looked in the direction he was pointing towards.
"This is mine." 2B said, keeping her voice blank as usual, but F could feel she was threatening him in some way.
"It's yours? Alright. Talk about a coincidence." A went along with it, pretending that he didn't knew it was 2B's before, "As I said earlier, I found it in the abandoned factory. It was laying on the bridge next to some corpse. I was certain the owner of it had died. If it's yours, then you can take it."
2B stared at A for a few seconds and A couldn't tell her emotions right now. Especially with her visior covering her eyes. She seemed to push the way she threatened him a few moments earlier as she reached for Virtuous Treaty and placed it on her back near her normal sword. If A remembered correctly from the game, it was named Virtuous Contract.
A shifted his gaze to 9S a second later, "With this matter settled, I would like to bring up the next thing I would like to talk with you about. Could you contact me with your Commander and let me have a conversation with her?"
"Why do you wish to talk with her?" Anemone asked as 2B and 9S stared at him in silence, most likely dumbfounded by his question. Popola and Devola watched silently what was going on right now.
A held out his bloodied bandaged hand out to them, "Because of this. 9S could have your pod analyze this blood?"
"Okay?" 9S replied, sounding confused by A wanting to have this blood analyzed by his pod as he did as he was told by A. After Pod 153 analyzed A's blood, A oberved 9S' expression closely as it shifted from curiosity to confusion and then to suprise and shock.
"I-It's human blood!" 9S exclaimed in suprise as he looked at A with a suprised look on his face, "Where did you get this on your..." He paused for a moment, having just realized something about A, "Y-You're a human!"
The room was covered in a complete silence as soon as 9S made his declaration. 2B stiffened where she stood, finding herself utterly speechless and Anemone was equally as shocked. The Resistance leader looked like she was trying to find the right words to comment this situation but nothing was coming to her mind. Pod 153 and Pod 042 were silently floating, appearing to be equally as stunned as everyone else.
"Now. Can I talk with the Commander?" A broke the silence in the room as Anemone looked at Devola and Popola. The twins nodded, showing Anemone the person standing in front of her was indeed a human and showed her their support of A.
9S immediately nodded in confirmation, "Y- Yes! Pod, connect me with 21O!"
"Connecting." Pod 153 instantly gave him her reply. A light suddenly flickered on in 9S's pod as a projection sprung to life in front of him. A hologram of 21O appeared in front of A a second later.
"N-9S to 21O!" 9S nervously called out for 21O as soon as the hologram with her appeared in front of A.
"21O here. 9S, calm down." 21O told him, sounding just as disconnected from her emotions as 2B did. A shook his head at this. He will really have to talk with them about their no emotions rule, "Why did you contact me?"
"I-I'm sorry for doing this so suddenly! I couldn't wait, though!" 9S stuttered out as he pointed towards A as 21O set her eyes on him, "Him! T-This man...!"
"What about him?" 21O wanted 9S to get straight to the point. If A was honest with himself, she sounded like an exasperated mother right now.
"H-He's a human." 9S revealed to her.
21O was taken aback by his words, staying silent for a few seconds, "...9S. Are you aware..."
"Yes! I'm aware of this! We have a proof of it, though! We're sending it to you." 9S replied, feeling a grin forming on his face with each word he had just uttered. It was when small window appeared on the hologram over the rest of the data as the information went up and down in front of 21O. Her eyes widened in shock a second later, seeing the confirmation.
She slumped in her seat in shock for a few seconds, allowing herself to process this information and went back to her keyboard after those few seconds. She quickly began typing something down on it, "I'm sending all this information to the Commander. You don't need to fill her in on anything."
"Alright." 9S nodded as 21O's hologram vanished from his and everyone's else view.
"Incoming call from the Commander." 2B's pod uttered a few seconds later and projected projecting a screen much like 9S's pod.
"Commander to 2B and 9S." An authoritative voice of Commander White sounded from the hologram as she appeared in everyone's view.
"2B here/9S here." 2B and 9S immediately made themselves know to each other.
"Good." White told them and shifted her attention to A. Her authoritative posture vanished upon setting her eyes on A. It was replaced by a confused suprise and later with happiness. Or at least A thought it was happiness. He could have sworn White was fighting back a smile right now, "You must be this human I just received the information about."
A nodded in confirmation, "Yes. My name is A. A pleasure to finally get the opportunity to talk with your Commander White. With me having finally contacted you, I can finally get to the next part of my explanation."
"Next part?" White asked.
Anemone looked at him questioningly, "What do you mean by it?" .
A shifted his gaze between everyone and gave them his answer, "I'm not a normal human."
"...What?" White asked him, looking confused
"What do you mean you're not a normal human?" Devola asked. Her eyes widened a second later, looking like she had just figured it out and Popola had the same reaction as her sister. It didn't took A long to figure out what they were thinking. They must have been thinking he was a replicant. He knew he had to discredit this theory as soon as possible.
He took a deep breath, bracing himself for the reaction it will get out of the androids, "I used be a normal human, but I'm not normal anymore. I'm a being known as the watcher of the multiverse."
A's explanation got the kind of reaction he expected from everyone as the room was once again engulfed in a complete silence from everyone. Everyone, even 2B if she wasn't showing it, appeared to be completely dumbfounded by his revelation. A couldn't blame them for having such reaction. Meeting someone who claims to be a deity is not something you'd expect to happen to you.
White broke the silence in the room a moment later, "...You're a what?"
"A watcher of the multiverse." A repeated himself to them.
"How is this even possible?" Popola asked with a shocked look on her face. As if A being a human didn't suprise her enough, him being something he claimed himself to be only made her more suprised.
A once again looked around everyone around him, "Listen I know this is suprising to all of you. How about I'll give you a proof to back up my claim?"
Anemone crossed her arms, "Yeah. We could use one."
A nodded and touched his earpiece, "C?"
"...What is it, A? What do you want now?" C's voice sounded in his ears a second later.
"No. This isn't either of those things." A gave her his reply, "Could you transport yourself to my location?"
"Why would you want me to..." C took a small paused, having just realized something, "...Let me guess. You were caught?"
A chuckled sheepishly, "Yeah. Not everything went according my part of the plan as someone overheard me talking with you earlier and it forced me into having to reveal myself to them. Now I just need to prove them I'm serious about the watchers thing."
C sighed, "Alright. I'll be there in a minute."
"Alright. Thanks, C." A smiled gratefully, pulling his hand away from his earpiece, 'My friend C will be here in a moment."
As soon as he uttered those words, a portal opened in the wall in the corner of the room and all of the androids were taken aback by it. All of them stared it silently, their expressions showing various deegres of shock as everything A had just told them about himself was turning out to be true. They got their final confirmation when a blonde haired woman with glasses over her nose walked into their view. It was followed by the portal behind her closing.
Devola shifted her gaze between W and C with a shocked look on her face, "...Holy shit."
Popola gasped in shock, "It's all true..."
"You really are..." Anemone found herself at a loss of words for the first time in a long time.
C nodded in confirmation, "Yes. We are what A claimed to be. We are the watchers of the multiverse."
"I-I....wow." 9S struggled with finding the right words to express how he was feeling right now. 2B stared at them in a silent shock. A chuckled at their reaction. Especially's 2B's shocked face. He could write making 2B break her emotionless facade down in his list of achievements.
C adjusted her glasses, "I understand you are confused and want some answer from both of us."
"You know we want." White told her, breaking herself out of her shocked state. She completely lost her professional structure as she wanted to get answers from both A and C, "How are you the watchers of the multiverse? You look like regular humans! How do you know about us and our world? Why did you visit it...?"
C shifted her gaze to A, "I think this is the answer A here will provide you. He's the one who convinced us to visit your world and planned this entire operation out, after all."
A nodded at C, taking over from her, "In our homeworld your world is a story. A tragic story. Many androids die in it and it includes some of you as well. With me being a watcher of the multiverse and having an ability, I knew I had to do something about it. This is why I am here. I'm here to fix it. We're here here to prevent all the tragic events from happening."
White stared at him silently. After a few moments, A saw her head rise and staring at him and C in the eyes, before both of them heard her chuckling, "Your determination... I can see it burning in your eyes. I believe you. Both of you."
A smiled at her, "Thank you, Commander. Truly."
"Hold on a second." Devola said, "If our world is a story in your homeworld, then does this mean you know everything about us?"
"Yes." A nodded in confirmation as White and 2B, especially the former, tensed up at his confirmation. He sighed, knowing the reasons for them tensing up. He will have to talk with them, especially White, about the said reasons in the near future, "This is how I know about project Gestalt and know it's failure was not your fault."
Popola looked at him and C questioningly, "Are the friends you mentioned to me and Devola before Anemone knocked on the door the watchers as well?"
C nodded in confirmation, "Yes."
"My original plan was to gather some people from your world and reveal the truth about myself and my friends, then. The plans had to be changed, though." A explained, shooting Devola and Popola a quick glance
"Gather some people?" Anemone raised her brow at this, "You wanted your friends to gather some people at my camp? What kind of people do you had in mind?"
"Don't worry. They wouldn't be anyone dangerous. In fact, one of them will be someone you'll be really glad to see, Anemone." A smiled at her, making Anemome confused
Just as he uttered those words, a male android came rushing into the room, "...Anemone!"
Anemone turned around to look at him, "What is it, Vergil?"
"We just some more new visitors to the camp. One of the claims she knows you." The male android now named Vergil explained as Anemone looked at him questioningly and immediately pushed herself into walk.
"Looks like she wasn't joking..." A thought to himself with a smile on his face, remembering how Q promised him that she and B will be the first ones to arrive at the camp with A2. He pushed himself into walk as well, silently followed Anemone and C followed his example.
Seeing both of them following Anemone and Vergil out of the room, the rest followed them as well, the hologram with White staying visible from 2B's pod. It didn't took them long to reach the main part of the camp. Upon reaching it, they saw a group of three standing out in the open. The said group of three consisted of B, Q and A2. A set his eyes on B and Q and both of them returned his gaze. Q smiled at him, giving him a nod of her head as A2 kept look around herself, looking pretty uncomfortable to be in the camp right now.
"...Number two!" A look of suprise and relief spread over Anemone's face as she immediately pushed herself into run towards A2 and wrapped her arms around her to give her a hug.
A2 slowly wrapped her arms around her old friend, returning the hug as she looked a bit awkward right now, "...I'm sorry I haven't been in touch Anemone."
9S shifted his gaze between B and Q for a moment and set his eyes on A and C, "I assume those two are some of your fellow watchers?"
"Wait a second?" B immediately took notice of 9S' choice of words as he looked at A and C questioningly, "How does 9S know about the watchers and why is C here and not in the HQ like she was supposed to be in your plan?"
Q shifted her gaze between everyone as B's questions resulted in an awkward silence between everyone, having just realized something must have happened if C was here with them right now, "...Sooo. The secret is out?"
------
Earlier: A week and a half since the watchers arrival.
R walked through the Resistance Camp, passing by various androids and even a few machines in the process. A week and a half had passed since she and her fellow watchers had arrived in this world and had made themselves know to the characters residing in it and those last several had been nothing but work for all of the watchers taking place in this operation as all of them focused themselves on helping the characters and help them start everything with rebuilding their world before they will part ways with them.
A lot had happened over the course of those last several days from R's point of view as YoRHa came down from space, allowing many androids residing in the bunker to see and walk on Earth for the first time and the truth about humanity being extinct had been revealed to the androids. It got the kind of reaction from she and her fellow watchers or at at least the ones familiar with the game expected, but knew they couldn't keep up with this lie, because it would bring them more trouble in the future.
As the panic among the android regarding them losing their reason to keep fighting began to spread, A stepped out and gave them a monologue on how they shouldn't focus their lives on serving humans and should focus on being their own people and living out their lives. R couldn't help herself and chuckled slightly back when she witnessed him make this speech as it showed just how much thought A put into this plan and how well he prepared himself for it. His monologue fortunely managed to stop any tragedy from occuring.
They managed to find Adam and Even during those last several days as well and unfortunely it was the one part of A's plan which didn't work out as neither of the machine brothers listened to anything A or his fellow watchers had to say to them and had to be put down by them. A looked genuinely sad about having to put them down, having been wanting the two brothers to get their happy ending but unfortunely the two brothers made their choice and it sealed their fate.
Pushing her thoughts away from what happened in the last several days, R glanced to the side and saw B and Q talking with each other and A2 standing nearby, pretending like she wasn't listening to them, but was actually listening to them. A2 had started to hang out around these two more often after they first brought her into the camp and neither of them, especially Q seemed to mind it. Anemone was happy around it as well. Even if A2 was refusing to admit that she was hanging out with them and was just claiming she happening to be in the same places as these two whenever she would be seen with them.
She passed the corner shortly after and something in the distance caught her attention. It wasn't a sound of a conversation or fighting. It was the sound of crying. Growing concerned by this sound, R pushed herself into walk towards it and made her way in the direction of the crying as she wanted to know who was feeling down right now. She got her answer a few seconds later as she saw a blonde haired operator sitting on the ground with her head buried between her knees and crying.
"Hey." She called out in concern, making the blonde haired operator look up in suprise at her. R narrowed her eyes, having recognized her as 6O as 6O looked like a mess right now as her eyes were red from crying.
6O wiped her eyes a bit, wanting to make her vision less blurry as she recognized R, "Y-You're one of the watchers."
"Yes. You're 2B's operator. 6O. Right?" R wanted to be sure if she recognized 6O correctly, knowing how similiar YoRHa androids in this world can look to each other.
6O nodded tearfully in confirmation, tears still evident in her eyes, "Y-Yes."
R nodded at the confirmation and took one step closer to her, "What happened?"
"I-I don't want to talk about it..." 6O stuttered out in a shaky tone, not wanting to talk about it.
R raised her brow, "Why?"
"I-I just don't want to...." 6O replied as R sat down next to her, "It's really hurtful..."
R looked at her with a pity filled look on her face, "I see. You can still tell me even if it's hurtful. Sometimes the best thing you can do about feeling hurt about something is letting it out. Even to a complete stranger. Boiling negative emotions inside you never leads to anything good."
6O stared at R silently for a few seconds, thinking about R's words and let out a sniff, "T-There was this android I kind of liked. But when I asked her out, she turned me down!"
R looked at 6O with a look of understanding, wrapping her arm around 6O to offer her more comfort at the pain of rejection, "I see."
6O buried her face in her hands, "Honestly. I don't even know how I'm supposed to go on living. What would you do if you got rejected by someone you liked it."
"I would just accept this and move on." R gave her an honest answer.
6O looked at her with a suprised look on her face, "W-What? Just like that? Rejections are really that easy for you to take?"
"I'm not saying rejections are easy, 6O." R told her, "Those are never hard. Especially if they come from the people you deeply care about and really hoped for them to accept your feelings, but unfortunely things like this just tend to happen. Nothing good will ever come out of allowing rejections to discourage you and hurt you."
6O looked at her questioningly, "Were you rejected before?"
"Yes. I was. Many times." R nodded in confirmation. Her rejections weren't in the way 6O was rejected, but she skipped this part as she wanted to prove her point to 6O, "Some of them were painful. Some of them weren't. I never let this discourage me, though and I never gave up on this type of thing. You shouldn't give up on this as well. I'm sure there's someone in this universe who would be interested in being in a relationship with you."
6O looked at her with a smile slowly forming on her face, "Y-You really think so?"
R nodded with a smile on her face, "Yes. I do."
"R...." 6O sounded and looked appreciative of R's comfort. She wiped the tear marks off her cheeks, the tears no longer present in her eyes, "T-Thank you."
"You're welcome. We have to help each other. Right?" R's smile grew wider slightly, "Hey. How about we'll spend some time together?"
6O looked suprised by the sudden offer, "W-What?"
"How about we'll spend some time together?" R repeated her offer, "We can do something together to take your mind off what happened. I could introduce you to my friends P and C as well."
6O nodded at offer, feeling a smile slowly growing on her face, "O-Okay."
"Alright. Off we go, then." R smiled back at her as she got up into a standing position and held her hand out to 6O. 6O blushed as she grabbed R's hand and allowed the watcher to help her up, "We can eat some ice cream as well."
6O raised her brow at the name, blushing slightly from the action, "Ice cream?"
"Yeah." R nodded in confirmation and looked at her questioningly, "You never had ice cream before?"
6O shook her head, "No. We didn't have stuff like this in the bunker. I only read about it in the human archives."
"If that's the case, then how about we'll change it together? You'll see why so many humans like it." R suggested, smilling at the android as 6O smiled back and nodded at the offer, her smile completely visible now and her mood having completely changed.
R wasted no time and began to take 6O away to get some ice cream for both of them as 6O continued to blush while the female watcher dragged her towards their destination by the hand. As both of them continued to make their way towards their destination, they walked by Popola who didn't really pay attention to them as she was too occupied with her own thoughts right now.
The red haired android set her eyes on A and saw him talking with 21O several meters away from them. Knowing 21O, it must have been topic regarding the topic of families as she started to treating 9S like her son over the course of the last few days and often came to the watchers to ask them for advice on how to be a mother. 21O nodded at him after a second and walked off to take care of her own business. A nodded at her with a smile on his face. His smile didn't remain on his face for long, though as it faded away from his face shortly after 21O walked away from his face and was replaced with a small frown.
Popola knew what was responsible for the look A had on his face right now. The Adam and Even situation was to blame for it. She saw the look A's face when he and his fellow watchers returned to the camp and informed them about them having to kill Adam and Eve after the machine brothers left them no other choice. She knew A took what happened with them badly as he genuinely hoped he would find a way to help them. Just like he was trying to do with everyone in their world.
This is what she came to admire about him if she was honest with herself. The way how he wanted to help out everyone in their room was admirable to her and she never forgot about his words of her and her sister not being at fault of Project Gestalt's failure. She remembered how he comforted her and her sister about it and felt like it was now her time to return the favor. She pushed herself into walk towards him and slowly made her way to him.
"A?" She called out for him upon making her way to him as A looked slightly suprised by her voice, "Sorry, didn't mean to startle you."
A waved her concerns off, "It's okay. You just suprised me. Is there anything I can help you with?"
"I just want to know if you're okay." Popola voiced her concerns to him, "I saw you looking sad after your conversation with 21O and thought something might be bothering you."
"Oh, I see." A nodded in understanding. He added a second later, trying to sound as assuring as he could, "I appreciate your concerns, Popola. I really do. But you don't have anything to worry about."
Popola raised her brow at this, "Are you sure? I'm sorry if I came off as little pushy here, but I feel like there can be something bothering you and it's making me worried."
A sighed, feeling bad for making her worried, "I see."
"Is this about Adam and Eve?" Popola wanted to know.
A nodded in confirmation, lowering his gaze to the floor, "Yeah. I still think there was something more I could have done to convince them."
Popola reached out to him and put her hand on his shoulders, "You know you can't blame yourself for what happened with them or feel bad about failing to convince them. From what I heard from your fellow watchers, you did absolutely everything in your power to try to change their mind and even continued with your attempts when they began fighting you. You did absolutely everything in your power and you shouldn't feel bad just because you couldn't get through to them."
A stared silently at Popola for a few seconds and nodded at her after those few seconds passed with a smile of gratitude beginning to form on his face, "Thanks, Popola."
"You're welcome." Popola smiled back at him, finding herself liking the sight of A's smile as his words of gratitude made her feel warm on the inside.
A looked at her questioningly, "What about, Popola? How things have been doing with you since we revealed ourselves to you? Are the androids were giving you and Devola some trouble?"
Popola stared at him silently for a few seconds before letting out a sigh, "Things got a bit better since you and your watchers arrived here and you told them what happened with Project Gestalt was not our fault. There are still some androids who are giving us hard time or are giving us bad glances. It's still an improvement and I feel like I shouldn't complain about it much."
"I see." A nodded in understanding. He should have been expecting something like this would happen. Something like this doesn't just fade away just because someone told you to stop. It takes time to make it completely disappear. It was when an idea popped into his mind, "Hey. I think I got an idea. Why don't you come to live with me and my fellow watchers if the androids will be giving you too much trouble?"
Popola looked suprised by the suggestion, "W-What? Are you sure about this?"
A nodded in confirmation, "Yes. Our HQ is massive and I don't think have two extra people living will bring us any trouble."
Popola nodded at him, suprised by the suggestion, "I-I would have to discuss this with my sister, but I'll make to remember your offer."
"Alright. Take your time with it." A smiled at her as Popola smiled back at him. Just as their conversation was about to continue, A heard his stomach grumbling.
Popola chuckled at this, "Was that you?"
"Looks like it." A chuckled back, putting his hand on his stomach and stepped forward, "I should go get myself something to eat. I'll talk to you later?"
"I can always accompany if you want to." Popola suggested without thinking. She blinked a few times, having just realized what she just said and blushed slightly.
A looked slightly suprised by her suggestion as well for a second. His suprise faded away from his face shortly after and it was replaced with a smile, "If you want to join me, then go ahead."
"A-Alright. Let's go, then." Popola smiled back at him, still blushing slightly from what she just said as she followed A and both of them started to make their way to the part where the watcher usually ate their meals.
As they proceeded to make their way towards the dining area, A looked around himself and saw a few of his watchers interacting with the androids. G was talking with Jackass, the latter forming an interest in the watcher because of his interest in the mechanical stuff and B and Q were talking with A2. Q excitedly talked about something to B and A2 and both of them listened to her silently, the latter appearing slightly annoyed by it and the former looking interested in it.
If what he overheard from B and Q was true, then these two were inspired by his idea of visiting a world and were planning to visit the world of Team Fortress on Q's idea. He wondered if A2 will join them for this. He hoped so. A2 could use new friends and already hung out around these two a lot, even if she continued to deny it. Perharps it would make her open up more as well. It would be great for her and knew it would make Anemone happy as well.
Upon reaching the dining area, A and Popola looked around it and saw they weren't the only people in it. R and 6O were there as well, sitting by the same table and both of them appeared to be eating ice cream desserts together. Deciding to leave them be with their own business, A was about to get himself something to eat and set it down on the table until Popola stopped him and told him to sit down and she'll go get him something to eat instead.
A smiled gratefully at Popola, expressing his gratitude for it to her as he and Popola parted ways. He went to take his seat by the free table and Popola went to get him something to it. After reaching the table, he took his seat by it and began his patient wait for Popola. As soon as he sat down on his seat, he heard someone else enter the dining area and shifted his gaze in the direction of it and saw C and P entering the place.
"...Guys! Over here!" R called out for them as A looked in the direction of the voice and saw R waving at them and gesturing them to come to her and 6O. A quickly noticed something else about R. It was her feeding 6O her ice cream. Her spoon was inside 6O's mouth, making the blonde haired android blush slightly. P and C walked over to them a second later.
"Is there something you..." P's words died in her throat for a second as she saw R spoon feeding 6O, "...Are we interruping something?"
"Not really. 6O over here never ate ice cream before and I wanted to change it." R replied, pulling her spoon out of 6O's mouth as 6O silently watched the interaction between the three watchers, feeling too shy to say anything.
C narrowed her eyes at R, "Are you sure this is just it?"
"Of course." R nodded in confirmation with an innocent smile on her face, "C. Who do you think you take me for? Do you think I would have any other intentions in this?"
"Yes." C admitted without hesitation in her voice, "R. We may have known each other for only a month and a half at this point, but don't act like we don't know you."
R rolled her eyes with her innocent look still present on her face, "C. If you knew me as well as you claim, then you would know I wouldn't you invite you here if I had the kind of intentions you two think I have."
"You wouldn't?" C appeared doubtful of it and so did P.
"Yes." R nodded in confirmation. Neither P and C believed her. R shifted her her gaze to 6O a second later, "6O. Those two are P and C. The two friends of mine I told you about."
6O waved at them shyly, "Hello. Nice to meet you."
"Hello." C greeted her back as she took seat seat across from R and 6O and P followed her example. Even if her thoughts on R didn't change, she wasn't going to act rude to 6O because of it and P shared her way of thinking.
P nodded, having taken her seat to C, "It's nice to meet you too, 6O."
6O shifted her gaze between C and P, trying to find a way to start up a conversation with both of them, "I'm really glad to meet you! R told me so much about you once we got our ice cream!"
P glanced at R, "Really?"
"What did she tell you about us?" C wanted to know.
"She called both of us great friends." 6O began her explanation, "She called C someone really smart. Almost as smart as her." C deadpanned at R and R shrugged with a smirk, "And she called P someone nice, despite the tomboy like image she is putting on herself." P, just like C, deadpanned at R and R shot her a smirkas well, "I don't know what it means, and someone she can talk about many things like anime and never get bored. She told me something about a watcher named D as well." She looked between them, "I'm guessing he's not here with you now?"
C shook her head, "No. D stayed behind at the HQ with the rest of the watchers. He, just like the rest of them, didn't feel like they were ready to visit a world, yet."
6O nodded in understanding, "Oh, I see."
"A shame he didn't want to join us for this." R sighed, "He would have fun with us here."
P looked at R questioningly, "What do you think he's doing right now?"
R shrugged, "Probably the usual stuff he does at the HQ."
"What is the stuff he usual does?" 6O asked them out of curiosity.
"Like....um." P began her answer. She quickly found herself at a loss of words as she had no idea how to answer this question. She couldn't answer this question as nothing came to her mind.
R raised her brow, "What? You mean to tell me you don't know?"
"W-What?" P looked slightly embarassed by it, "How about you explain it to 6O instead, then?"
"Very well. D...." R's words died in her throat, finding herself unable to answer this question as she, just like P, couldn't find the answer to it, "...I-I don't know. The only thing I see him doing whenever he doesn't hang out with us is him overlooking the universes through the monitors."
"See?" P asked her, "I'm having the same problem now. The only thing I can recall him doing at the HQ whenever he's not hanging out with us or someone else is when he looks at the monitors."
R looked at C questioningly, "C. Tell us you had seen him do something else outside of this?"
"...I wish I could say I did." C shook her head after a moment of thought. It was when the table found itself covered by a complete silence as none of them watchers knew what to say as they found themselves growing concerned upon getting this realization.
6O looked between them with a confused look on her face, "What's wrong?"
"It's nothing." R pushed herself out of her silent state and quickly tried to brush this topic away in front of 6O, wanting the android to enjoy herself and not to get worried about anything.
"Yeah. Don't worry about it." P agreed with R as C silently nodded in agreement, "How about you'll tell you what you think about the ice cream you just had?"
6O once again looked between them as she could tell what they just talked about was slightly bothering them. She didn't try to talk with them about, it though and gave them their reply, "It was really good! I can see why humans are enjoying it so much!"
P smiled slightly at the enthusiasm 6O showed right now, "Glad to see you enjoyed it."
"Is there something else you want to try?" R wanted to know.
6O looked at her thoughtfully, "I always wanted to see a Lunar Tear."
C raised her brow at this, having not heard of this before as she wouldn't call herself who was extremely familiar with this world, "A Lunar Tear?"
6O nodded in confirmation, finding herself growing excited at the thought of this, "It's a flower. I read about it in the archives. It was really cute and I always wanted to see it in person! With me being finally on Earth, I can finally get a chance to see it in person. I just need to find it..."
R smiled at the enthusiasm 6O just showed, finding it adorable and making her forget about the realization she just had about D for a moment, "Alright. How about we'll go look for it together?"
6O looked suprised by the offer, blushing slightly because of it, "R-Really?"
R nodded in confirmation with a smile on her face, "Yeah. It will be fun. It would give me a chance to explore more of this world as well."
"Okay!" 6O smiled brightly at this, feeling her blush grow as P and C exchanged glances with each other at what just happened as something on the back of their minds told them they knew where this was going.
A watched everything from where he sat, not making himself known to R, C, P and 6O as they seemed to have having a good time. For most of the time. Even though 6O making friends was making him happy, he couldn't help but feel slightly concerned about what R, P and C talked with each other about D.
He grew concerned by it as much as the three of them did, because he agreed with them as he knew it was truth. When they mentioned it to each other, he began to think about it and couldn't recall the last time he saw D doing something outside of monitoring the universes as well. Could this be the only thing he was doing whenever he wasn't hanging out with someone?
"...A?" A familiar female voice called out for him, taking A out of his thoughts. He looked towards it and saw Popola standing next to him with a tray of food for him. She looked at him questioningly, "Is everything alright?"
"Yes. I was just lost in my thoughts for a second." A replied as Popola nodded and sat down next to him, setting the tray with the food in front of ihm. He looked at her with a grateful look on his face a second later, "Thank you for bringing me food."
Popola smiled at him, "It was no problem."
A smiled back at her and shifted his attention to his food, finding himself growing more hungry at the view of it. Not wasting any time, he dug into it and occasionally exchanged a word or two with Popola as both of them enjoyed each other's company.
------
Now
A smiled to himself when he thought back to this moment, reminding himself how far everyone had come from then to now. The rebuilding of this world had started and the peace between androids and various machines settlements had been made. The characters from the game were living happy lives now and Popola, Devola, A2 and 6O even moved in to the watchers HQ with him and his fellow watchers. He even began a relationship with Popola. He wasn't the only watcher to end up in a relationship with with an android from this world. 6O ended up in a relationship as well and this person was R.
At first, A was concerned about it as 6O ended up with R out of all possible watchers, but all of his concerns faded away in time as he was 6O was genuinely happy with R and her happiness of being together with R didn't fade away even when three more people joined their relationship as the time passed. Devola and A2 were doing alright in their own ways as well. Devola got along with everyone at the HQ and A2 became friends with B and Q and joined them in their antics, becoming friends with everyone they met as well. Her behavior improved as well. She still had a long way to go, but she massively improved from how she was when B and Q first found her.
He walked through the filled streets of the city right now, having left his and Popola's apartament several minutes ago as Popola walked right next to him, both of them holding hands as they slowly made their way towards the place where their meeting with the council will take place. They exchanged glances with each other and smiled, enjoying the walk they were having together now and the sun shined down upon them, like it always did whenever they were on a walk together in this world for either some reason or just the fun of it.
Their destination appeared in their view a few moments later as the place where the former Resistance Camp had appeared in their view. After the rebuilding of the world had begun, the council had been formed, with A having been made one of the members of it because of his involvement in this world and the main headquarters for the meetings between them had been established in the former Resistance Camp.
A and Popola wasted no time and made their way up the hill into the entrance to the former Resistance Camp and continued to make their way towards their destination. They reached it a moment later, having made their way to the building which had been built there. The old buildings had been destroyed where the rebuilding of this world had begun and a new building had been built in the place of them. According to White, it was supposed to signify this building as the meeting place for the council as it would be built just for the sake of it.
The pair walked into the building together, walking past the two YoRHA which had been oppointed as the guards of the front doors of this building and started to make their way to the meeting room. They made their way to the entrance to the room a moment later and A pushed it open. Upon walking into the room, he was immediately greeted by the sight of the council in the form White, Anemone, Jackass, Pascal, Emil, a machine from the dessert named Vick and the new forest king who went by the name of Abel. All of them sat on their seats gathered around the large table.
A looked around all of them and shot them a welcoming smile, "Good day all of you."
Anemone nodded at him, "A."
Jackass gave him a toothy grin and a wave of her hand, "Heya, A."
"I see I'm the last one to arrive at the meeting." A said, taking his seat by the table with Popola taking her seat next to him. Him being the last one to arrive for the council meeting was something rare as usually Jackass the one to come late, "I hope we didn't make you wait for long."
Emil shook his head, "Don't worry about it, A. We didn't wait for you long. Jackass herself had just arrived."
Jackass nodded in confirmation, "I was genuinely suprised I wasn't the last person to arrive at the meeting."
White deadpanned at her slightly, resting her head on her hand, "Would it kill you to come early for once?"
Jackass smirked at her, "What do you mean, White? You know that I like to spend every possible moment working on the development of science."
A chuckled at the interaction between these two, "Alright."
Anemone crossed her arms, "With this matter aside, can we get to the matter we gathered here for?"
Abel nodded in confirmation, "Yes. I have some important matters to attend to in the Forest Kingdom later and I would like to get this meeting over with it as well."
"I have some important matters to attend in my village as well." Pascal added, "Even though I wish this matter to turn out beneficial for us, because it concerns a new machine settlement, I can't really afford this meeting to take too much of my time as I'm needed in my village."
A shifted his gaze between both of them, "Don't worry about it, you two. When we'll be done, you'll still have a lot of time left and won't have to hurry yourself to the village and the forest kingdom. Even if something will suprise us and this meeting will take longer than planned, I can see always teleport you to your settlements with my portals."
Pascal nodded at him gratefully, "Thank you, A."
"Now. Let's get to work." A looked around them and nodded. Even with all the work they did during those years years, all of them still had a lot of work when it came to rebuilding this world and A was more than eager to see the entire process of it and see the ending result in the far, far future.
