Chapter 2

I stepped out of the taxi. Noises were all around me, noises like cars and yelling. Noises I would have to get used to. I would miss my small home town but this is for the best right? I looked at the door of a large building to see my aunt Kioshi. Her short brown hair contrasted with her blue eyes and she was wearing all black. Black long skirt, black shirt, black funeral hat thingy. I sighed as I picked up my two luggage bags and made my way over to my aunt.

"Ai... I'm so glad you decided to move on here in New York...." She whispered as she wrapped her arms around me. I politely hugged back while trying to hold back the tears threatening to escape. She let go and led me into a small lobby. She opened the elevator door and we slipped inside. My grip tightened on my luggage. Why me? Me of all people on earth? Me? Why did my parents have to die? Why did my parents have to be victims of a robbery gonna bad?

The ding of the elevator jerked me from my thoughts. I stepped into an apartment the size of my house that greeted me with color. The walls were blue, the carpet was red, the furniture came in all different colors. It reminded me of hippies.

"Feel free to take your shoes off." My aunt invited solemnly. I slipped off my Flats and felt a yellow and green polka dotted rug under my feet. I turned my head to the right to see a luxurious kitchen that was white in contrast to the popping colors of rest of the area. I smoothed out my School uniform skirt, which is no longer uniform due to me transferring here.

I followed my aunt up some stairs covered in red carpet with marble for rails. After a moment she opened the first door to the right to reveal a room with nothing but blue shag carpet in it.

"I thought you might want to decorate your own room...." She explained. I nodded and set my bags down in the doorway. Footsteps alerted me that aunt Kioshi had left. I dragged my bags in and closed the door. I probably am going to keep the carpet. I noticed a bedroom window. You know, the ones you can sit in. It was a light shade of pink and had a picture framed on it. I looked at the picture, remembering when if was taken. Ten years ago at holiday world on the log ride. I had been five but I was tall for my age.

I looked around of last time before curling up with that picture on the cushions.
