13 - Silence and Music

"So...when's Bucci's girl coming?" I ask Eisuke as I stood in front of his chair, with my arms folded.

"Tuesday."

"Tuesday?"

"That's right. You better not screw this up either. I'm trusting you have somewhat decent acting skills." He says while drinking his coffee and reading off his tablet. "I don't want my money going to waste."

That's the least of your worries. "Isn't your biggest concern getting holes in you? You're dealing with mafia, man."

"I'm aware of that." He remarks.

"Whatever." I shrug and walk over to the couch next to me.

Why was Eisuke such a dick? It's been a few days since 'everything ended' and the second deal was made. I was doing a good job at standing Ichinomiya's rudeness but I have to admit that it's starting to annoy me.

I have to deal with this shit a lot longer, I need to hold on tight to my anger here.

Not only that, but I've literally been stuck in the penthouse for days, without going out at all. I'm extremely bored.

The elevator chime goes off as it opens, revealing....

"Mr. Oh." I greet him with a nod. He returns it.

Yeah, I respect the guy. After all, I don't want to get shot up. The man is always carrying a gun.

I don't know anything about any of these men which bothers me too. I would ask but, I'm not quite in the position.

Wait...

Since when do I give position preference?

"Hey, Mr. Oh?" I call out to him before he goes into his room. "Can I ask you a question?"

Soryu stops short, but keeps his back turned to me. "......" He silently nodded.
"Just who are you guys?"

"..." A few seconds of silence went on for what seemed to be an hour before he answers. "If I told you, I think I'd have to kill you."

I stand from the couch, confused about his response. "I already know enough for that. I can't imagine anything else that can be worse than selling people in the black market-"

"We don't." Eisuke starts. "That was a last minute change. There was supposed to be a statue in her place. The sellers decided it'd be a good idea to sell her after she broke it."

"Whatever it is. I should know at least who you are, what you do. How am I supposed to live with you, work with you, if I don't know you?"

Both men look at each other and Eisuke lets out an irritated sigh. "You'll find out eventually."

"Let's leave it at that." Baba smiles as he walks from the elevator with Hyuna.

Hyuna?

"What are you still doing here?" I point at her.

"Eh? I'm just here with Baba. He's so romantic!" She says excitedly as she clings onto his arm.

Ew gross. A shiver goes down my spine. That old man tried flirting with me too a few days back. Now he's onto a new prey today.

I make eye contact and nod at Mitsunari while lifting an eyebrow. "Okay."

After a while of me talking to Baba and Hyuna, Eisuke looks up from his phone after locking it. He looks over at me and speaks. "Are you familiar with the tourist areas of the city?"

Now that you mention it....

"No." I say honestly, shrugging. Then realize this was an opportunity. "You know what would be a great idea? If I took a tour myself."

Eisuke thought for a moment before agreeing with me. (Jackpot)

"But," he stopped me amidst my silent celebration. "Soryu will...'escort you'."

"Whatever you say boss! Just let me leave this confinement!"

I run over to my room and dress in something comfortable for the trip. I am so excited to finally leave this damn penthouse full of Eisukes musty ass subordinates and crap.

"Ready handsome?" I ask Soryu, already standing beside the elevator.

His eye twitches as he begins walking to me for us to leave.

-------------------------------

We rode in one of Eisuke's pimped out limos. It was pretty damn luxurious, I'll give it that.

I get the same feeling from it that I get from the penthouse though.

I don't quite know how to describe it, but it feels somewhat, cold and....empty.

I don't mean I'm a literal way either, just the aura I guess?

My thoughts jumble together as we, Soryu and I, (and the driver) ride silently.

As soon as I become conscious of this. I start to feel awkward. Although Soryu didn't seem to give one shit.

I glance over at him, he sat with his arms crossed and his head down the slightest bit. If anything he looked deep in thought, or...asleep.

Are his eyes closed? What the heck.

I clear my throat loudly to check as I reach for the tablet that had a wide variety of music calmly. Oh looks up, clearly disturbed as he looked at me with annoyance and maybe even a hint of disgust.

"What kind of music do you like?" I ask him casually, trying to escape his menacing eyes by looking back down to the tablet. I waited for a response.

......
.....

None.

I look back up. Now, I was getting a bit irritated by his silent treatment like behavior.

"No preferences?" I ask again looking into his eyes confidently.

I'll admit. He is pretty dang intimidating, but I'm not gonna get through him until I face him directly.

"...no." He breaks away from my stare. "I don't listen to music."

"Really now?" I ask in disbelief. "What a thing to hear, as a musician I mean."

"....."

Oh well.

"Well, how about we start you off with something simple and...."

I scrolled down through the list and find our(2ne1) song, "Missing You".

"You look like the type to like slow music." I comment quietly as I click on it.

The song began slowly. It was a ballad.

When the song started, Soryu closed his eyes and resumed his earlier position.

I wasn't sure if he was enjoying it or not, but at least playing it and getting him to listen without him killing me, I think that's a lightweight accomplishment.

We sat in silence once again, only the sound of the passionate melody hanging heavily in the limo's stale air.
