Chapter 42 - Party

-Chapter 42-

-Sky's POV-

I grinned, watching tiny Hope, seven years of age, hoping around with her fellow tiny friends as they walked around on the dance floor.

The DJ, crammed into the corner of the little Middle School cafeteria, was typing away furiously at his keyboard, his face making me laugh as it was scrunched up in concentration.

"Hey Adam!" A pressure tapped on my shoulder, making me spin around on my heel and face the father who was looking at me with a large grin on his face. He pointed over to our daughters, who were giggling and doing some hand-game again.

"Our daughters seem to be getting along great." He grinned, before giving me a hard slap on the back, jerking me forward a little. 'Great,' I thought. 'What a genteman'.

"I don't know much about ya, man!" He cried, leaning against the wall I was up against. Quite honestly, I didn't want to talk to this man ; I wanted him to shove off and leave me alone. There was only ten minutes left to the hour and a half dance, which I was relieved with.

Usually, Ty would've gone to these things, but he was busy cooking, since someone down the road had asked him to help out with a big family gathering with them. Anyways, I was the one always driving Hope to her Girl Scout meetings, so "It should be you!!" he said.

"I only know your name because the other guys knew it." The man jolted me out of my thoughts with his voice. "I don't know about anything. Not your kid, not your job, not your wife, nothing."

I stiffened at the last one, but quickly let my shoulders relax. I was used to people mistaking this ; they always assumed that I was straight, because everyone is, right?

Wrong.

"Well..." I tapped my chin, deciding to act slightly interested in the conversation to get the dude off my back. "My daughters name is Hope Faith Dahlberg. She's seven and she's been in Girl Scouts for...oh, a year now? This is our first time coming to the dance. I work as an entertainer, my partner and I make videos that we release. They make a pretty good living for our family, not really why we do it, but it definitely works."

"Well, strange job man!" Another slap to the back. "What about your wife?"

"Don't have one."

"Oh man, but you said you had a partner?" Thick headed, of course. Why do the good kids have to have parents that are imbiciles?

"I do. I have a husband."

....

Silence fell upon us, and I didn't look at him, because moments after, there was a loud bring, and someone came over the rather soft announcement system of the small cafeteria. "Hope you all had fun! We are sad to say that the dance is now over! Thank you for coming!"

I didn't waste a moment. I started walking, right over to my daughter, then scooped her up from behind. She let out a squeal and started kicking frantically to get out, hitting (and probably bruising) my legs multiple times.

"Don't worry, sweetheart, it's just me." I put her down, and she immediately spun around, grinning widely at me before throwing her arms over my neck. I laughed softly at her amount of energy, before pulling back and taking her hand in mine.

"Let's go, okay? Daddy could use some help with the cooking, and it's almost your bedtime."

"Okay Papa!"

As we were walking out of the large doors, I noticed the annoying father, glaring at me with death eyes. I let out an angry sigh, rolling my eyes and walking a little closer so I could get away from the homophobe.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Papa!" Called a sudden voice, pulling me from my thoughts. A soft smile still drifted on my face as I ran my finger over the picture in the scrapbook, a photo shot of a little, seven year old Hope posing with her friend at a dance.

It seemed so long ago now, almost eight years...oh, where has the time gone?

That man forbid his daughter from ever talking to Hope again, saying that she was a "bad influence" and didn't want his daughter to ever be close to such a girl again.

It did make Ty and I very angry when Hope had come home to tell us that her best friend wasn't able to speak to her anymore, but we soon came to a sad conclusion.

What could we do to stop that?

Her father was a total dickhead, to put it nicely, but that still doesn't mean that we can force him into something.

Sadly.

Hope came running into the room, a long dress flying behind her, the blue strands drifting before slowly coming to lay down. The second that she saw me, a grin spread across her face, and she turned around quickly, showing me the blue ribbons of fabric.

"Can you tie these?!" I let out a loud sigh, setting aside the large book with a THUMP, then got up and began tying the strings into a tight knot.

"There," I stood back, admiring the flowing dress, that when down to her knees and a little bit past that. "It's beautiful. Why did you get it?"

"My 15th birthday is coming up!"

---------------------------(Yes Another Time Skip Deal With It)------------

Hope giggled, turning to another one of her friends, who were each trying to speak to her over the loud music. We were the ones hosting the party, and we had to admit, more people came than we thought would come.

"Skyyyyyyyyyyyyy!" I heard Ty call in the kitchen, and I quickly detached myself from one of the overprotective parents and ran in with him.

"What's up?'

"Sorry, but my phone keeps going off like crazy but I'm busy with the food here. Can you just tell me who keeps texting me?"

"Sure." I answered quickly, walking over and scooping up my husbands new phone. I quickly turned it on, punching in the password with lightning quick fingers, then clicked on his messages.

My eyes widened at the number, along with name, that I had not seen in a very long time. Almost fifteen years now.

"Well?" Asked Ty, his hand working quickly as he stirred the batter for the cupcakes that he needed more of.

My hand and voice were shaking lightly as I softly read off the name on the contact list.

"Seto......."

Everything seemed to freeze. Ty slammed the bowl down, rushing over to me and scooping his phone out of my hands. His eyes darted over the screen at a lightning's speed.

"Sky..." He said with an equally, if not more, shaky voice. "He's comin-"

Before Ty could even finish his sentences, he was cut off by a loud ringing of the front door bell, then Hope's call of "I'LL GET IT!"

"No!" I nearly screamed, flying out of the kitchen and grabbing her arm before she could reach the door. I pushed her behind me gently, walking up to the door with shaky steps.

"Jesus!" She cried, brushing herself off. "It's not that big of a deal, Papa!"

I ignored her, taking in a deep, but shaky, breaths, and letting it exit my throat slowly, before I pushed over the door to reveal the sorcerer patiently awaiting.

"Seto," I snarled. "I haven't seen you in forever! Where the fuck have you been!" I heard Hope let out a tiny squeak behind me and take a large step back. I never swear in front of her, so when I do, the situation is pretty fucking serious (like the time the tv had almost fell on top of Ty, thanks to Tyler).

"...Sky?' The man raised one eyebrow. "What do you mean? Why are you so angry? I talked to yo- NEVER MIND. It's not whats important right now! I have important news!"

"What's so important to bring you here for the first time?!" I growled once more. I didn't buy his bullshit act.

"HEROBRINE IS BACK, YOU IDIOT!"

-A/N-

Sorry for not much happening in this chapter! The next few will be a lot bigger, a lot more action packed, and a LOT of things will be explained that you guys have been waiting for.

(Remember that time in the 2nd book that was never explained? Keep your eyes out ;) won't tell you which, you get to guess!)

But anyways, there is one plus to this chapter not being as action packed! Originally there was only 7 chapters left, but with this one as a little extra, there's 8 :3 So yeah, that's good, right?
