Chapter 36 - Unexpected Visitor (FIXED AGAIN)
-Chapter 36-
-Sky's POV-
I grinned as I set everything out on the table for dinner, pure pleasure running through my mind. Today had been a complete success ; we had had fun, and I think I taught Ty to trust me a little more.
I knew it wouldn't happen in the blink of an eye though, and I had keep trying until Ty was back to how he was before.
If that was even possible...
Suddenly, there was a loud ringing that filled the house. Loud wails followed shortly after, but I didn't worry about that as much. Ty had agreed to take over Hope while I was setting up dinner, and I knew he could calm her down.
I put down the plate I had in my hand and hurried over to the door, my bare feet freezing on impact on the floor. It was almost November, of course.
"Yes?' I asked, ripping open the door. The second I saw the person behind the wooden entrance, I slammed the door shut once more and leaned against it.
"Sky..." Said the person slowly. They seemed exasperated and out of breath, like they didn't want to be dealing with me at the moment.
"No, Seto." I growled, narrowing my eyes in anger. "You're not coming into this house anytime soon so I would forget about it!"
"Can we talk outside then? Hell, we can talk wherever you want, even over the phone, but we need to talk."
He was practically pleading, begging for me to listen. I bit my lip, trying to decide what to do. Something that, preferably, wouldn't get me murdered.
Slowly, I let the door open the fraction of a crack, then slipped out and slammed it immediately. I leaned against it, staring at the person in front of me with slight surprise.
Seto looked like a mess. His cloak hung over his face, but didn't hide the bags under his eyes and the heaviness of his features. He was even a little pale ; it all looked like he had been stressed as hell lately.
To my surprise, Ian stood behind him, arms wrapped around his neck and hanging loosely over his stomach. His jacket was partially covering Seto, probably just for a reassuring warmth.
"Talk, and quick." I spat. Just because Seto looked like this doesn't mean he was getting a pass for hurting my family so badly. Ty couldn't remember anything because of him, and the baby had almost been killed multiple times.
"I'd like to explain-" he started, but as soon as I heard 'explain', I jumped to cut him off.
"Explain WHAT, Seto?!?! You almost killed Hope, Ty barely has ANY of his memory left..." My shoulders shook in utter anger. "I thought you would've been smarter than to come here to EXPLAIN. There's really no answer to your actions and I'd rather not hear your bullshit."
Seto sat there, looking shocked. He shrunk into Ian a little, just a fraction, but still noticeable. Ian looked down at Seto's head, holding him a little tighter, anything to ignore my gaze.
"Please, Sky, hear me out here-"
"Just," I growled, cutting him off once more. "Shut it. You have zero excuses, Seto." I was getting colder by the minute, and I'd rather be in my warm house with my family than out here with him.
"IF YOU'LL JUST SHUT UP FOR ONCE AND GODDAMN LISTEN THEN I CAN EXPLAIN BUT YOU HAVE TO BE QUIET!!!" Seto practically exploded, making my eyes widen in surprise and respect for such a quiet person to have such an outburst.
"I don't know." I said, looking away. "Just seeing you right now pisses the hell out of me."
"Fine," Seto growled suddenly, after a few long and painful moments of silence. I looked at him with shock, not understanding how he could so easily give in.
"Fine...what?"
"Fine, I won't try. I'm tired, Sky. I've been working for months now with her, and I'm sick of trying. You'll find out in time, so just go back to Ty and you family and try to fix your problems. Good fucking luck." Seto turned on his heal, leaving Ian and I standing dumbfounded.
My eyes shifted, landing on Ian, who was silent but surprised. He turned to me, eyes showing worry and confusion.
"I don't even know what happened," Ian murmured. "But I'm so worried about him."
He broke into a sprint, following his boyfriend. I could barely make out him scooping up Seto once he caught up, and Seto's voice carried and he yelled to be placed down.
I wanted to smirk, but how could I, after all of that.
I let out a thick sigh, turning around and closing the door roughly behind me. It made a loud click, and I walked back over to the kitchen.
Ty was in the kitchen now, rocking Hope back and forth as he gently fed spoonfuls of the baby food into the infant's mouth, watching her giggle and nod in agreement.
"I don't think I'm very good at this 'parent' thing," Ty mumbled as soon I entered "but she sure is a happy baby."
I grinned at him, sitting down and placing my hand on his shoulder, a silent 'I know'.
He turned to me, eyebrow furrowed up in slight confusion. He continued to rock and feed Hope, but began talking to me and giving me eye contact. "You look shaken up, who was at the door?"
"...No one." Even if I were to tell him it was Seto, he wouldn't remember who that is or what they did to us. "It was no one, just some door-to-door salesperson."
"Ah," he nodded in response, then turned back to the small child in his arms.
"I guess that makes sense..."
