Chapter 26 - Elaborate Order
-Chapter 26-
-Ty's POV-
"Sky?!" I called. The small kitten on my lap shifted and pawed nervously as my large belly, meowing and rubbing up against my chest every once and a while. I grinned, reaching out and scratching her behind the ear, leaning forward and pressing a soft kiss to her pink nose.
She, in response, let out a loud meow of protest, tail flicking happily behind her. It caused a smirk to pull at my lips, and the creases of my mouth to fold up.
"Ty?" Adam asked walking over to me. Kawaii, using my belly as a launch pad, dove right for Sky and began rubbing against his leg and purring. Laughing, Adam reached down and picked up the tiny ball of fur.
"Hey," with a grunt, I lifted myself and my large lump of a belly up from the couch, sitting up and patting the seat next to me. Sky walked over, sitting down and placing his hands on my lap, allowing Kawaii to paw off and silently curl into a ball on my lap.
"Sorry. I just wanted to see you." I grinned, laying my head on his shoulder and letting my eyes flutter shut.
I heard Sky chuckle softly, leaning over and pressing a short kiss to my cheek. I grinned my cheeks heating up. Even though this man has been my lover for a very long time, almost four years now, I still felt the butterflies whenever his skin brushed past mine.
"You look tired." I heard him whispered in my ear. He slowly raised himself up, carefully to replace his body with a pillow so I wouldn't fall right forward. I gave into his temptations, letting my eyes close once more, and this time, for good.
I felt warm and comforting arms wrap about me, and with a hoist and a grunt, I was lifted up and tucked into his hold. Getting comfortable, I became ready for the bumpy trip upstairs.
Sky laid me down in bed, pressing a soft kiss to my temple before raising once more.
"Just think Ty." He grinned, placing his hand on mine, which was resting comfortibly on the pillow. My eyes were closed and stayed that way, but my ears still worked.
"In four weeks or less, we'll have our baby, and we'll be proud daddies." That brought a silent smirk to my lips and I buried my head even deeper into my pillow, breathing in the soft scent of the fresh material.
I heard the click of the lights, making the room go dark and the light to flood away from my eyelids. Comforted by the darkness, I clutched the pillow a little tighter, and allowed myself to drift off with the safe thought of Sky being downstairs, on watch.
I couldn't have been more wrong.
-???'s POV-
I sat outside, in my car, pressing my fingertips together and letting out a few breaths a minute. What I was about to do could end my life, if I was caught.
I took in a deep breath, contemplating my choices. Ive already gotten close enough with this family, that is, if they remember me. If I simply knock on the door, I can get in. Then, when Sky isn't looking, I'll simply...excuse myself. I'll do the deed, and then be back before Adam even realizes a missing soul.
Easy enough...right?
With a loud sigh and a deafening snap, I let the car door open with ease and stepped out, the night breeze rushing through and tussling my hair. The clacking of my high heels echoed throughout the small, soft neighborhood.
I walked up to their door, number seven on the street, and stood in the cold for minutes on end, nervousness nipping at my ears, nose and toes. Eventually, the cold got to me, and I had to think ; Now or never. And by never, I meant giving myself frostbite.
I reached up a shivering hand, and with little to no hesitation, I pounded on the door.
The knocks rang throughout the wooden entrance, and even though I knew it wasn't true, it felt as though it echoed like an earthquake in the neighborhood. Seconds past before my old acquaintance ripped open the door, panting lightly from the short run from the kitchen to the front door.
His eyes widened when he saw me, and he quickly slick back his sweaty hair and held out a hand for me to shake. I took it daintily, giving it a quick shake before grinning up at him.
He cried "Man! I haven't seen you in forever!", making me grin and chuckle at his child-likeness.
"Hello to you too, Adam." I nodded at him before he stepped aside, allowing me into his house. I stepped in, pulling off my heels and placing them by the door for a quick escape. I kept my coat on, so I didn't freeze while scampering away.
"Please," he guided me into the living room, gesturing towards one of the comfy-looking couches, which was right in front of a giant tv. Sitting down, I noticed the piles and piles of video games stacked upon one another, towering high.
"Is there anything you would like?" Here's my chance, I thought. Get him away, and make it be a while. Come up with the most elaborate order you can imagine.
"Yes, and I apologize for the long order, but I've been dying for some hot chocolate with mint leaves and some cream, not in but on the side, like in a little cup. Also, could I have a coffee cake along with it, if it's not too big of a bother? Along with a milk in the coffee. Oh, and the mint leaves go in the coffee, not the milk chocolate. I'm sorry, have you got that? The milk chocolate, not the coffee."
I tried to change and manipulate my order as much as possible, making it practically impossible to do it without at least five or ten minutes passing. My long-winded command left Adam looking very surprised and wide-eyed, simply standing for a few moments, before giving a short nod.
"Of course. I'm in the middle of dinner, so I'd like to finish that first, if you don't mind. Excuse me for a being a little late." And with that, he walked into the kitchen, leaving me alone with the ticking of the clock.
It was the end of summer, around August tenth. Time rushed by, didn't it? It was especially cold for an August night, the weather darkening and beginning to turn to the hands of fall. The fire wasn't going ; even though I understood why it wasn't, I still wish they had.
I suppose I understand why they wouldn't over heat the house ; they do a pregnant person in this place, if what my boss tells me is true.
Well, it has to be true. That's who I'm after.
I rose slowly, making sure not to pad on the floor or make any loud creaking as I walked, slow, tentative steps. Thoughts rushed through my head at a million miles per hour, like the water flowing into New Orleans after the breaking of the levees.
I had to push all of that aside, though, as my duty from the boss was number one priority. I forced myself to move a little faster, refusing to let my feet freeze or crumble under pressure.
It doesn't matter how close I am to this man ; I have still been given a task, and I must fulfill it, for my daughter.
With shaky by confident steps, I made my way upstairs, towards the master bedroom, and towards Deadlox.
I stood by his bed, watching his peaceful frame rise and fall with a gentle movement, his bulging stomach protruding through the covers. A small kitten lay at his feet, hissing as soon as they saw me.
I said nothing, simply ignoring the small, idiotic creature and focusing my attention of the being at hand.
I poured a little bit of the mystery liquid into a vial, continually rising it to my eye level to see if I had the correct amount. Staring at it made me wonder ; what am I dumping into my once-friends body? What am I poisoning him with?
I couldn't stop to ponder about it. Once I had determined the amount to be correct, I gently tilted up his head, therefor driving him to open his mouth a bit more.
His eyes stayed shut. His mouth stayed open.
Perfect.
-Sky's POV-
"Um, I got everything read-" I walked into the living room, balancing three plates in my arms, but stopped short when I realized that was room was eerily empty.
I walked over to the coffe table, placing down the plates and straightening back up, pressing a palm against my back.
It's then that I realized the cool breeze, sweeping through the living room, causing books and papers to ruffle and fall all over the floor, creating a giant mess.
I had closed all of the windows and doors, so where could that be coming from?
I walked over to the front door, only to find it open. The boots of the woman were gone, and the carpet was tousled from the hurrying of feet.
What the..?
My eyes widened as a sudden thought slammed into me like a brick wall.
Ty...?
