Chapter 25 - Seriously Injured
-Chapter 24-
~Ty's POV~
"TY!" Screamed Adam. There was a crack as the windshield struggled under the weight of the spinning car. Two arms sprang out, grabbing my arm and pulling my closer.
The smell of burning rubber and the sound of screeching tires filled the air as our car skidded to a stop. We lurched lightly when we came to a halt, bouncing forward just a little before settling down.
There was a loud bang from behind us, and we heard the short scream of the person in the drivers seat in the swirling vehicle.
Moments passed, and silence was filling the air to the brim, the only sound to be Adams soft panting in my ear, nervousness and scaredness reaching his heart and causing it to speed up rapidly against my chest.
"Ty...?" He said slowly and shakily. I nodded into his chest, slowly pulling my body back, but still shaking just the same. "Adam...are you okay?"
"Yeah, yeah I'm fine. Are you okay? Are you hurt?"
"No." I answered honestly, still clutching onto the fabric of Sky's shirt, my head against his chest now as we waited in silence for something to happen.
It didn't take very long for the sirens to begin to wail, letting out their loud screeches of anguish as they were led to the site. They grew louder and louder, echoing into the distance before finally stopping. That's when our door popped open.
There stood a policeman, panting and out of breath from his furious run over to our car. He pushed back the seat that blocked our exit with a great force, allowing to crawl out, and then Sky right after.
Shock blankets were threw over our shoulders, and I immediately clutched mine tightly between my fingers, running my thumb over the soothing fabric and trying to regulate my breathing.
"Excuse me," Sky attracted the attention of a policewoman nearby, who was messily writing down notes of the case. She glanced up, seeing us, and then tucking the notepad into her pocket and sitting down on the bench we were resting.
"Hello sirs." She grinned. "I'm Detective Paula. I'm very sorry about what happened to you two. What did you need me for, sir?" She turned to Sky, smiling politely at him.
"I was just wondering what exactly happened with that man?" He asked slowly. I scooted closer to him, keeping the blankets firm on my shoulders, but laying my head on his as the woman explained quickly.
"Oh, yes! I apologize that you haven't heard the explanation by now. The man who almost ran into you was twenty-three year old Ryan. We don't know his last name as of now, but he was wearing a name tag so we know as far as that. As far as he can tell, he was drunk driving."
She glanced over our shoulders, looking at our beaten car, skid marks left behind it and dangerously close to the bumper on the side of the road.
"You two are lucky...you got out of the way and didn't suffer any injury. You couldn't been seriously injured."
Sky's arm wrapped around my waist, pulling me a little closer. If I had even gotten the littlest bit hurt, the baby would've died along with me, and he would've lost both.
I can understand his distress.
"May we leave now?" Asked Sky softly, and I could see him glancing at his watch. "We have a plane to catch, and I think sleeping in our own bed tonight might be good for us." He glanced at me, holding me just a little bit tighter in his hold.
"Yes sir." She said with a grin. "Could you please just write down your name, address and phone number? We will contact you later in the week to speak about what happened and your personal experience."
He nodded quickly, raising up and taking the pen she offered. Quickly writing down our information, his hand found mine once more, using the other one to hold his own shock blankets firm on his body.
"Thank you sir." She said with a nod, informing us of our ability to leave. "You may now go to catch your flight, have a nice trip home."
I nodded to her, raising, along with Sky.
Now to catch our flight. Still shaking from fright and shock, we walked back to our car, ready to start the trek all over again, hopefully not to get almost killed this time.
-Time Skip-
"Ty..." Said a soft voice. The radio played softly, blaring some random Japanese song from either of our iPods. The rain hit the car with soft little thumps, like the pawing of a cat through the house, silent but hearable.
Raindrops dripped down my window, making forms and shapes of all kinds. They shifted and changed, each time a new member joining it making room for it by completely shape-shifting.
I had my head on my hand, red marks pressing into my skin slowly from the weight of my skull on my precious bones. It didn't faze me though, as I watched the battle of the raindrops.
Sky thought I was asleep, which led him to shaking me, in attempts to wake up my already fully conscious body.
The sky had disappeared, leaving behind a black, empty whole, with a simple blue light filling the entire night. It was cloudy and starless, but the defiant moon shown bright, filling the spooky night with a reassuring glow.
"Ty?" Repeated my lover, taking my hand in his and giving it a soft squeeze. I groaned, shifting, pretending to have been asleep, just for the hell of it. He grinned softly from the seat next to me, leaning forward and planting a soft kiss on my forehead.
"I'm sorry to wake you baby, but we're home now." I glanced out the window, looking at the looming, tall building, which blocked the moon, but still shown generated light from the garage glowing bulb.
Home sweet home, I thought. I couldn't even imagine the comfort of my own bed instead of an hotel room, or the feeling of Kawaii's soft fur running through my fingers after she licks my nose to wake me up in the morning.
I craved my own home.
"Do we have to deal with the bags...?" I asked lazily, sitting up and stretching my back out, listening to the loud cracks that echoed through the car. Sky shook his head, throwing open the car door and walking into our rather large garage.
"Naw. I'll just lock the garage door, and everything should be fine. Let's just go feed Kawaii and then collapse on the bed."
I nodded eagerly in response, shoving open my own door and taking a single step out. I was still a little shaken up from the accident, which cause my legs to turn to a jello-like substance. I grabbed the wall before sitting down.
I guess I didn't realize how shaky I was, but suddenly, all the thoughts came crashing down on me at once.
I could've died.
The baby could've died.
ADAM could've died.
We all could've died...
Thanks to that old pervert that was back at the hotel.
He almost killed us.
Sky was by my side in seconds, scooping up my arms and placing my upper body in his limbs, hugging me gently.
"Ty," he said softly. "Are you okay? You just almost, like, collapsed."
"I know..." I said slowly. "I'm sorry. I'm just tired and still shaken up from what happened...we could've died, Sky...we could've lost the baby!"
"Sh..." In a sudden sweep, Sky scooped me up, carrying me bridal style, much to my thrashing and hitting to be placed down. He held my high, careful not to cause me discomfort, and walked to the door without much of a care.
Within moments we were in the house, and a very overly-excited looking Kawaii pawed rapidly at our legs, swiping and dashing like she was some sort of ninja. Sky let me down and I kneeled on the floor, opening up my arms for the small kitten.
She immediately came running on clumsy feet, slipping once or twice but landing in my hold. I lifted her up, rubbing her belly and scratching behind her ears, listening to the music-like melody of her soft rumbling and purring.
"I'm glad she's happy to see us." Sky chuckled from behind me, and I nodded in tired and eager response, walking over to the isle chair and placing my butt down.
I let her down watching as she scurried off, towards the shaking of the food bag as Sky began to pour her dinner.
We both chuckled at the sight, and befor long, everything was done and we were in bed. I laid my head on Sky's chest, focusing on his loud and repeating heartbeat.
"I love you..." I heard him whisper softly, shifting so that his arms were wrapped around me in a protective and warning manor, pressing my chest to his and my arms on either side of the waist.
"I love you too." I answered confidently, reaching up and placing a quick kiss on his lips.
Even though I was still startled by the near-death, I no longer worried about dying in that situation. It was done, and we had gotten out with barely a scratch.
For now, I simply focused on my lovers arms around me, and let myself drift off into a pit of dark slumber.
