brief lines- Aurelius and Nanwang; "Vices & Virtues"
You know that dance one-shot I was talkin' about in the PMs? Yeah, it's this~!
To celebrate the coming-out of Voltron's cast, which basically gave me all the fuel I needed to actually write this down, THIS happened.
Darkblaze450 and also (cause why the hell not), strwberrykou - This kind of gives you a peek into the relationship of Aurwang/Liunan (yes, Aurelius's name is first because he is a indeed a top and Nanwang is the reluctant bottom) so I hope you enjoy! This one-shot is supposed to be set in a stage in which they're both pretty much in love with each other but are both in denial (especially Aurelius), but it can be in any stage you wish!
(P.S. because Aurelius's powers are going to get in the way of the flow of the story-I'm sorry-I'm not going to write them in; they're still active, I'm just not putting the spotlight on them as much T T)
I highly recommend you listen to the song it was intended for, "Vices & Virtues" (by the same person who inspired the ren and bea one-shot I published a few days ago or so) although it's quite fast-paced so you have to read fast-though feel free to imagine it slower or play it slower, et cetera. (Although the beginning of the one-shot is just them talking so you can start the song when they actually start dancing)
Anywhos, without further ado, here we go!

"Theo, I don't see why we have such a large ballroom when I can hardly recall when it's been used."
Aurelius turned around to shoot a quick, idle smile at his current personal guard, Nanwang (he'd never admit it, but he was happy that he had finally trained the man out of calling him 'Prince Aurelius' or 'the heir' or anything like that, although he still did so mostly in his mind), as he pushed open the large double doors to the-quite admittedly elegant-ballroom. "Well, my sweet little star, I don't really see why either~."
Indeed, the ballroom was quite elegant: despite the fact that it was rarely used, the smooth wooden floors glowed gold under the sparkling chandelier, the delicate crystals in the lights throwing sparkles across the fancily gilded walls. It was large enough to fit at least one hundred people easily-along with tables and chairs, although at the moment, the entire ballroom was completely empty.
As Aurelius watched his general-no, his guard, that was what Nanwang was now, at least for the moment-step in, closing the doors behind him, looking around the ballroom in what he could now discern as veiled wonder, an idea struck him.
"Saaay, little star, are you a good dancer?"
Nanwang's head snapped towards him, his eyes narrowing by the slightest millimeter. "... I suppose so."
"Then..." Aurelius turned on his heel to face Nanwang, a mischievous smirk appearing on his face, extending a hand out to him. "May I have this dance? Little star."
Nanwang was only caught off guard for a split second, before letting a small competitive smile slip through. "If you insist. It is a beautiful ballroom, after all."
Yet as he reached out to grasp Aurelius's hand, said person turned out of the way, disappearing into a side door with a wink. Nanwang was about to ask what Aurelius was doing, but then music started playing, getting louder, and Aurelius stepped back out. "Now... let the dance begin."
Aurelius began by softly stepping around in a lazy half twirl, sauntering around the room, and smirking slightly before starting with the music. "What's a hero to a villain other than it's perfect half? You can deny the tension but baby it's rising, and I won't back down," He twirled around, closing his eyes, as if he were dreaming at the same time. "Is that flush because of battle? Or am I just in your head? You seem distracted, are we still fighting or am I in your bed instead?" He reveled in the embarrassment that bloomed across Nanwang's face as he opened his eyes and darted quickly towards him. "What do you see when you look at me? Am I the love of your life or your enemy? Keep your friends close but hold me closer to you," Aurelius looped his arms around Nanwang's neck, forcing the other to send Aurelius into a twirl farther away from him. A dangerous beginning of a smile, a glint in his eye.
"And if I'm the villain," He drew his sword in one quick, fluid move and slashed at Nanwang, who blocked his sword-sending sparks everywhere. "Then you better start running, 'cause you won't last long if you're up against me," Back, back, back, as Aurelius's sword continued to dance through the air, meeting Nanwang's. He stopped briefly, his next words almost in a whisper-almost to himself. "Don't stop to think about what it would feel like with your lips on mine," Aurelius spun away, sheathing his sword and leaning back to touch the floor in one fluid twist-then he was back up on his feet and changed his steps so they were almost... seductive. "I see you checking out my moves, better stop 'cause you're 'bout to lose, one quick hit and I'll leave you breathless-" A small gasp slipped past Nanwang's lips as Aurelius leapt closer and, grasping the other man's wrists and flipping him easily to the ground, keeping him there with his legs. He smirked at the slightly stunned look on the general's face, leaning down to stroke his chin. "-Never thought you could look so helpless~"
With another almost violent move Aurelius grasped Nanwang's collar in his hand, lifting the other hand up so he was half kneeling, half standing. "Why deny your admiration? "Is it lust? Infatuation?" You are so easy to predict, my love's a drug and you're an addict," He lifted Nanwang up and released him so he could press in, tracing shapes on Nanwang's chest where his heart was. "I can hear your pounding heartbeat, you were mine right from start, see, every hero needs a villain-'' Aurelius's lips turned into a rueful, yet malevolent smile as he knocked Nanwang back down, this time fully straddling the man as he leaned down to whisper the next lyrics into the general's ear, lowering his voice into a sultry one. "-But I don't need you."
Finally, a stubborn glint appeared in Nanwang's eyes that hardened into something that made Aurelius shiver-but in a good way-as Nanwang pushed himself up, making Aurelius fall but then catching him, encircling his arms around the prince before he began to sing. "You think you're so much better, when you're really not all that," He twirled Aurelius out, enough for the prince to see the beginnings of a malevolent smile on Nanwang's face before jerking him fluidly back in. "You keep on trying to convince yourself it's a game of mouse and cat, when in reality you've fallen, and it's very clear to see," Nanwang pulled Aurelius into a smooth Quebrada, before dipping the prince and leaning close enough for their noses to almost touch. "You like to lock away your feelings, but I hold the key," The last words were sung with an almost spiteful, maybe even hateful tone, coupled with Nanwang's smile which could easily be twisted into a sneer, and yet it felt so very intimate.
Aurelius retaliated with a similar smile, before pulling himself back-but not letting go- and the two of them whirled into an elegant Colgada. "And if I'm the villain," He repeated the words he'd sung earlier, as the music increased and they fell into a mixed version of rumba and tango. "Then you better start running if you're up against me-" He tore himself away, pirouetting into a graceful double arabesque turn, dropping into a fast twirl on himself. His lips curved into a small, rueful, almost regretful smile as he tilted his head down towards Nanwang, arms still crossed across his chest, and to his surprise Nanwang joined him on the next words to the song. "Don't stop to think about what it would feel like with your lips on mine..." Almost immediately, though, going along with the fast-paced song, that was gone and Aurelius leapt into a perfect jeté entrelacé, landing light as a butterfly. "I see you checking out my moves, better stop 'cause you're bout to lose-" In tune with Aurelius, Nanwang also performed an elegant fouette, moving from his spot. "One quick hit and I'll leave you breathless," Aurelius's lips lifted up into a triumphant sort of closed-mouth grin. "Never thought you could look so helpless..."
As the music started to come to a close, the two of them spun and twirled and whirled closer, closer, closer to one another until finally, right as the music ended, they were right in front of one another, hands interlaced and so close Aurelius could count the number of eyelashes on each of Nanwang's eyes.
Now that there was no more music, the heat of the dance was ebbing away, replaced with nothing but awkwardness. Aurelius could hear Nanwang's heart thrumming a steady drumbeat, and was surprised to feel his own heart doing the same, as if even though the dance was over, his heart had decided to continue dancing. It's always with him that I realize my heart exists, Aurelius mused, pressing his lips together slightly-somewhat jilted by that thought. I wonder why.
They stayed that way for a few more tense, sensitive moments, before Nanwang made the first move. He licked his lips, Aurelius's eyes following that lightning-quick movement, coughing slightly and then awkwardly untangling his hands from Aurelius's and stepped backwards. Away. "That was..." Usually this would be when Aurelius would jump in, to finish Nanwang's sentence and tease his general-his guard-about his loss for words, but this time he had nothing to follow up with. "Interesting," Nanwang concluded, worrying his bottom lip slightly for a brief moment before straightening. He schooled his expression back into one that befit his general status, looking at his watch on his wrist. "I don't mean to be curt, Pri-Theo, but I believe I have a meeting scheduled soon. So, if you don't mind, would you excuse me?"
And just like that, whatever had been in the air previously dissipated, and Aurelius allowed himself to smile brightly like he always did. "Of course, Nanwang." It was only after said person jolted slightly that Aurelius realized his mistake, and quickly followed up with, "But don't be gone too long, yes? You still have to protect your prince, after all~"
Nanwang bowed slightly. "Of course. I'll see you later." With those words, he cast one last, brief look back at Aurelius before striding out of the ballroom. The double doors closed with a resounding thud that sounded much louder than it did before the dance. Aurelius sat down on the floor-he wasn't tired, wasn't full of energy, and yet somehow he felt like he was absolutely brimming with some feeling that sent his stomach into flips and made him feel light as a feather at the same time; but also drained him of his energy.
Aurelius sat there for a few more minutes, before letting out a small sigh and picking himself up, straightening his outfit and his ponytail as he prepared to exit. But before he left, he peeked over his shoulder, to look at the ballroom again. He felt that he could almost see them dancing across those wooden floors-remembered the exhilarating feeling it had given him, better than anything gained from battle.
"I'd like to do that again, if you don't mind," Aurelius whispered to empty air. Then he closed the lights and walked out of the ballroom.
And the doors closed behind him.

Done! I am proud! But-
BRO.
WHY IS ACTION, ANY KIND OF ACTION, SO HARD TO WRITE?!? I STRUGGLED SO HARD WITH THIS, IT WAS WAY EASIER TO DO IN MY HEAD because it's hard to write out simultaneous singing and dancing! Gosh! Paired with the fact that I also don't know much about dance TvT'
(Yes, I actually did search up dance moves, I recommend you search any terms you don't know up and then re-read, you might see it different afterwards)
Anywhosss, that was really fun to write *pats the head of this ship* and I hope it was also enjoyable for you all to read! (I should be doing applyfic forms, and the opinions, but this pulled at me and I listened to my urges)
Thanks for reading! *dramatic curtsey*
