Chapter VI//It's not lying, just acting
(Adelade's POV)
I trusted Annabeth, and I trust Percy, or at least want to. After my chaotic life and ADHD, you'd think I would hardly remember yesterday, but I have a surprisingly good memory. Percy, Annabeth, and Chiron are awesome, but being on the streets for years changes you. I believed everything, anyone told me when I was little, but now I hardly trust myself. On the streets, it's every man for themselves. No time to worry about the sickly eight year old girl next to you in a cardboard box. My stepmom had always glared with pure hate when she saw me, yet my father was blind, she might as well have been an angel. It finally pushed me to the edge, I gave up, let her win. I swore on that day I would never return home as long as she was there, she stole my father's true self, the one that always trusted me and loved me. "Hey, Adelade, what's wrong?" Annabeth questioned, pulling me from my thoughts. I realized I had stopped moving, but quickly responded, "Oh, nothing, just excited for training, I suppose." And flashed her an innocent smile, she believed me. Whoa, that was close. Maybe I'll tell them later, but for now, my past is just that, past. Besides, I wouldn't want to worry them, I can be my own physiologist. They still know part of it, just less... oh well, save the problems for later, girl. With that I headed down to the archery range with a groan. You can only move wheelchairs so fast.
(Annabeth's POV)
Something was definitely off about Adelade. She always seemed to pause before she spoke, as if hiding something. When I finally asked what was wrong, she smiled, but I'm not sure it was genuine. Oh well, I'll worry about that later, for now, she needs and archery teacher, I know just the one.
