ACTION TIME :O
---
It was late afternoon when Sorah had knocked on Jimin's door. The two had long since picked their outfits and had taken the rest of the afternoon to mess around, playing pool in Jimin's basement; though, they had to stop when Jimin accidentally hit himself in the balls with his cue stick.
After being let in, she politely greeted Jimin's parents. Then, the three were presented with the problem of how to actually spend their free time. "We've got..." Taehyung checked his phone. "A couple hours to kill."
"Sorah." Jimin started, abruptly and determinedly. "Can you teach me how to skate?"
"Yeah, sure. You got a helmet?" The boy shook his head. "Then I'll spot you until you're ready to go fast enough that I can't keep up."
"Sounds good."
"Do me a favor and don't split your head open, okay? Your mom looks like she'd skin me alive if I let you get hurt."
Taehyung grinned and nodded, as if he knew something about that. "She would."
"Yeah, I'll be careful," Jimin stated.
"Okay. Let's go." Sorah led the three to the driveway once Jimin had his sneakers on. Taehyung put his on, too, just in case Sorah would teach him as well. The girl grabbed her longboard, dropped it onto its wheels, and stopped it with her foot. She motioned for Jimin to come. "Hop on"
Jimin did as instructed, placing his left foot on the middle of the board, and leaving his right on the ground next to it. "Move your foot up a little higher," She instructed. "Now, bend your knees a little." She put a hand on his shoulder to feel the tension in his body. "And relax your body. You'll lose balance if you don't." Once Jimin was successfully following all her instructions, she removed her hand and placed it on the small of his back to give him a sudden push to get him started.
He squawked , as he was unprepared for being propelled forward, but regained his composure and, like it was natural for him, started to push off the ground and get a steady pace, with Sorah jogging alongside him. He grinned at her as she gave him a thumbs-up. As soon as she stopped spotting him, however, one of the wheels stalled as it got stuck on a pebble, and he tipped backward, losing his balance.
Sorah darted forward to catch Jimin, who fell into her chest with a yelp as Taehyung laughed heartily, not minding the way his friend's cheeks turned miserably pink. "Watch out for rocks," Sorah muttered, grimacing, removing the boy from her front and standing him back up.
She let him give it another try, and he rode smoothly, largely without mistakes or slip-ups for several minutes. "Alright, let's let Taehyung have a try so he stops giving me those pouty eyes," Sorah chuckled, making Taehyung grin.
Taehyung required a bit more instruction than Jimin and took it a little slower, but at least he didn't find himself colliding with Sorah at any point while he rode. An out of breath Taehyung eventually hopped off the board and shoved it toward Sorah with his foot. "Why don't you show us how it's done?"
"'kay." The girl mounted the board, blasé as she pushed off, hands casually finding their homes in her pockets. She skated easily, effortlessly, going at a comfortable pace, and Taehyung realized she'd never looked so cool. With that being one of her main personality traits, she looked very cool. She was in her element; no doubt about it. The shorts that rode up to her upper thigh when he bent her knee to gather power to propel the board forward revealed toned muscles, a tell-tale sign that she'd done this regularly.
Sorah smiled. Wide. That same warm breeze from earlier flitted around her and flipped her loose hair, and she removed her hands from her pockets, outstretching her arms and closing her eyes as the board barreled down the abrupt slope of Jimin's driveway. At the end of the slope, she finished with an impressive pivot and dismounted with a confident jump while the board was still rolling, landing with one foot on the tail and kicking it up into her grip. "Satisfied?"
Both boys looked on in awe, enthusiastically nodding their heads. "Maybe.." She began. "Maybe if you guys get your own boards we could, I dunno.. skate together sometimes?"
"I don't know if I'll be able to afford two boards, since I've already gotta buy a penny board," Taehyung remarked.
"Oh. Right." Sorah set the board down on its tail and rested her forearms on the nose. "Well.. You don't really have to get me the penny board. It's okay."
"What? But we made a deal. You be my pretend girlfriend, I give you a penny board. Are you saying the deal's off?"
"No, no, I can help. I don't mind.. It's just- You don't have to worry about the board."
"Sorah, can I ask you something?"
"Yeah, I guess."
"Why are you helping me? You agreed so easily, and now you don't even want payment?" Taehyung cocked his head, trying to make sense of it all.
"I just.. I dunno- I- It's nothing. I wanted to help, is all," She muttered, looking down. Everyone went quiet.
"Well... How 'bout we find something else to do?" Jimin's bright voice cut into the awkward silence, chuckling, a bit nervously.
"Yeah. How does Mario Kart sound?"
"I'm in."

After spending most of the time they had left yelling in fury every time they lost to each other in Jimin's basement, or when Sorah fell right off Rainbow Road, Taehyung checked the time and suggested that they get ready for the dance.
Jimin ran up to his room to change, and Taehyung had to make a quick dash back to his house to change, leaving Sorah to rifle through her backpack and change in the basement bathroom. When the three reconvened in Jimin's living room, Sorah had a slightly guilty look on her face.
"So, turns out, I forgot to put my clothes in my backpack..."
Taehyung checked his phone for the time. "We've still got time. I'll ask my mom to drive us to your house first so you can grab your stuff."
"Nice. Thanks." So, within ten minutes, the three were seated and buckled into Taehyung's mom's neat, leather-seated car.
"Alright, Sorah, sweetie, where's your house?" Taehyung's mother pulled up the maps app on her phone and prepared to put in an address. With a gulp, Sorah answered, making sure to use the same, sweet tone she'd used when she first met the woman.
It was a short ride, and both Taehyung and Jimin spent it subtly watching Sorah fidget and bounce her knee. As soon as they pulled up to the driveway, Sorah told Taehyung's mother that she needn't worry about parking, as she'd only be a moment. With that, the girl jumped out of the car and disappeared into the house.
Taehyung pressed his cheek against the window and examined the house. It was small, mostly covered by towering trees and therefore coated in shadow, but otherwise, it looked pleasant. As he waited, he looked all around, even to the trash cans, beside which a few empty, green soju bottles sat unattended, the neck of one of them broken, a few large shards inside it. The grass was a bit long and the greenery was unkept, but the house had some charm to it still.
Sorah seemed to be taking longer than she expected, so after a few minutes, Jimin and Taehyung decided to go check if she needed any help. They left the car, walking up to the door tentatively. Right before they got to the porch, the door flew open, and Sorah emerged with a lump of clothes under her arm.
"Oh-" Taehyung started to say, but a fierce, raging shout followed Sorah out of the house. Some incredibly angry female voice bayed and roared with throaty yells.
"GET BACK IN HERE, YOU LITTLE MINX!" The voice growled a string of threats and insults as Sorah calmly closed the door with a sigh.
"You didn't hear that, okay?" Sorah asserted. She looked down, unwittingly giving the boys a perfect chance to see the deep crimson cut that had suddenly appeared on her cheek. While Taehyung was too in shock to respond right away, Jimin spoke up.
"Sorah, your cheek..."
"Oh, is it bleeding? Whoops..."
"What happened?"
"Mom accidentally broke a glass bottle and a piece hit my cheek. No biggie." She paused. "Oh- that's why I took so long. Sorry. Had to clean it up. Don't worry about it."
"I'd say it is a "biggie" when she's screaming like that," Taehyung finally said.
"Look, I told you not to worry about it, so let's just go to the dance. I'll change when we get there."
Defeated, both boys paused for a moment, then Taehyung replied, through a sigh, with an "Okay. Let's go." Tense, the three returned to the car. Silent, they spent the ride contemplating what just happened. Taehyung's mother wondered what was the matter all of the sudden, but decided asking might not be the best action. Sorah was glad that she either did not see the cut or ignored it.
