^A/N that picture though I am actually dying

----------------------------------------------

My eyes fluttered open and were met with Isaac's sleeping face.

I smiled to myself remembering last night.

I rolled over, looking at my clock.

The numbers were blurry for a moment and I squinted.

"HOLY SHIT" I yelled, springing up from the bed.

A startled Isaac also jumped up from the bed.

"What? Where's the fire? Alphas? Derek? Shit is Derek back? Oh my god I'm gonna die" He rambled.

"School starts in ten minutes" I said, throwing him his shirt.

"Ah fuck" he caught it and pulled it over his head and continued getting dressed whilst I opened my wardrobe and pulled out an outfit.

"I better get back to Scott's, see you at school" he leant down and kissed my lips gently.

"See you" I said with a small smile.

Once he had left the room I flopped down on the bed with the biggest grin imaginable.

~

The school doors suddenly burst open and Allison stumbled through them panting.

"Allison, are you okay?" Lydia frowned.

She nodded, looking slightly disorientated.

"Come on we should go find Scott and Stiles" I said, taking Lydia and Allison's arms.

I could hear Stiles and Scott talking in the distance.

"No, you're not. It's happening to you too. You're seeing things, aren't you?" Stiles to Scott.

"How'd you know?" I heard him question.

"Because it's happening to all three of you" I replied.

The boys shared a look.

"It's to do with the sacrifice. Deaton was right" I said, as we headed back into school.

"Well, well, look who's no longer the crazy one" Lydia said as she opened the school doors.

"We're not crazy" Allison said.

"Hallucinating? Sleep paralysis? Yeah, you guys are fine" Lydia said sarcastically.

"We did die and come back to life.
That's gotta have some side effects, right?" Scott defended.

The school bell rang loudly in my ears and I winced.

"We keep an eye each other. Okay?" Stiles said. "And Lydia, stop enjoying this so much"

"What?" She grinned.

~

"Maybe we need a little more time to get back to normal" Scott said.

"Yeah, try not to forget we hit the reset button on the supernatural beacon for supernatural creatures" Stiles said, trying to open his locker. "I think there's a pretty good chance of things never going back to normal"

Stiles frowned, trying to shake the lock.

Scott started breathing heavily next to me and I turned to face him.

"You okay?" I asked.

But I noticed his eyes.

Glowing.

"Oh, dude, your eyes" Stiles said.

"What about them?" Scott frowned.

"They're starting to glow" I said.

"You mean like right now?" He asked.

"Yes, right now" I snapped.

"Scott, stop. Stop it" Stiles said.

He started panting. "I can't I can't control it"

"All right, just keep your head down.
Look down, come on. Keep your head down" Stiles said as we guided into the classroom.

When we got inside Scott quickly removed his flannel shirt and dropped his bags.

He growled. "Get back away from me"

"Scott, it's okay" I said calmly.

"I don't know what's going to happen. Get back"

Stiles and I glanced at each other before retreating backwards.

I watched as Scott's claws came out and he dug them into his hands. Blood dribbled onto the floor. He roared, dropping to his knees on the floor.

"Pain makes you human" he said.

Stiles stepped closer to his best friend. "Scott, this isn't just in our heads. This is real. And it's starting to get bad for me too. I'm not just having nightmares. I'm having dreams where I have to literally scream myself awake. And sometimes I'm not even sure if I'm actually ever waking up"

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"Do you know how you can tell if you're dreaming?" Stiles said. "You can't read in dreams. More and more, the past few days, I've been having trouble reading. It's like I can't see the words. I can't put the letters in order.

"Like even now?" Scott asked.

He looked over at the board. "I can't read a thing"

~

"Okay, so what happens to a person who has a near-death experience and comes out of it seeing things?" Scott asked.

"And is unable to tell what's real or not?" Stiles added.

"And is being haunted by demonic visions of dead relatives?" Allison said.

"They're all locked up because they're insane" Isaac replied.

The five of us looked at him.

"Ha. Can you at least try to be helpful, please?" Stiles said coldly.

"For half my childhood, I was locked in a freezer. So, being helpful is kind of a new thing for me" Isaac replied.

"Hey, dude, are you still milking that?"

I groaned and put my head in my hands.

"Yeah, maybe I am still milking that"

"Hi" I lifted my head up to see Kira, from our history class, standing by our table. "Hi, sorry. I couldn't help overhearing what you guys were talking about. And I think I actually might know what you're talking about. There's a Tibetan word for it. It's called 'Bardo'. It literally means 'in-between state'. The state between life and death" she explained.

Lydia cocked her head to the side. "And what do they call you?"

"Kira" Scott answered for her. Everyone looked over at him. "She's in our History class"

"So are you talking Bardo in Tibetan Buddhism or Indian?" Lydia questioned.

"Either, I guess. But all the stuff you guys were just saying? All that happens in Bardo. There are different progressive states where you can have hallucinations. Some you see, some you just hear. And you can be visited by peaceful and wrathful deities" Kira said.

"Wrathful deities? And what are those?" I asked.

"Like demons" she replied.

"Demons. Why not?" Stiles said.

"Hold on, if there are different progressive states, then what's the last one?" Allison asked.

"Death. You die"

Well, shit.

~

"It sounds like your subconscious is trying to communicate with you" Deaton said once Stiles had informed him about the weird sign language and dream thing he had going on.

"Well, how do I tell my subconscious to use a language that I actually know?" Stiles asked.

"Do you remember what the sign language looked like? The placement and movement of the hands?" Deaton questioned.

"You know sign language?" I said curiously.

"I know a little. Let me give it a shot"

Jesus, what doesn't this guy know.

"Okay, the first one was like this-" Stiles replicated the action. "Then-"

"That's 'when'" Deaton said.

"Then there was this-" he made the motion with his hands "Twice"

"That's door" Deaton said.

"And this in between it-" he said.

"That's it?" Deaton asked.

"Yeah" Stiles replied.

"When is a door not a door?" Deaton said.

Stiles frowned. "When is a door not a door?" He repeated.

"When it's ajar" I said.

"You're kidding me. A riddle? My subconscious wants to tell me a riddle?" Stiles said looking agitated.

"Not necessarily. When the three of you went under the water, when you crossed from unconsciousness to a kind of superconsciousness. You essentially opened a door in your minds"

"So what does that mean? The door's still open?" Scott asked.

"Ajar" Deaton said.

"A door into our minds?" Stiles said slowly.

Deaton shrugged. "I did tell you it was risky"

"What do we do about it?" Scott questioned.

"Well, that's difficult to answer"

Stiles shook his head. "Oh, no, wait a second, I know that look. That's the 'we know exactly what's wrong with you, but we have no idea how to fix it' look"

"One thing I do know is that having an opening like that into your mind, it's not good. You each need to close that door. And you need to do it as soon as possible" Deaton said.

After Deaton informed us about the door thing, we left the animal clinic.

As we stepped outside, the Sheriff's car pulled up.

"Dad, what are you doing here?" Stiles asked.

"I'm here because I could use some help" he turned towards Scott and I.
"Actually, your help"

"Why us?" I asked.

"Because eight years ago, almost an entire family died in a car accident.
One of the bodies, a young girl named Malia, was never found. There's enough evidence to have me thinking that that a werewolf could have caused the accident, and then dragged her body away. If you could somehow get a lock on her scent if you could somehow help me find her body, it might provide the missing clue" he explained.

"But what if it was a werewolf?" Stiles asked.

"Well, there's somebody out there who murdered an entire family. Someone who still needs to be caught"

~

The next morning, the Sheriff drove us to Malia Tate's fathers house.

Stiles, Scott and I were hid whilst Mr Stilinski went to talk to Mr Tate.

Scott and I both shared and nod and then I started to push open the door.

It creaked.

I prayed it wasn't too loud.

Once we were in, Scott and I got to work sniffing some objects in the room.

"All I'm getting is some animal smell" Scott said.

"What kind of animal?" Stiles asked.

I heard growling and I sighed. "Dog"

"Hi, puppy" Stiles said to the snarling dog. He then turned to Scott. "Get rid of it"

"Me?"

"Yes, you" I said.

"Glow your eyes at it or something. Be the Alpha" Stiles said.

The dog continued to snarl.

"I can't. I don't have control" Scott replied.

"Okay, buddy, you're going to have to try something" Stiles said.

"Nice doggy" Scott started, edging further.

I face palmed. "You two are such idiots"

The dog started barking.

"Flash your eyes at it or something" Stiles hissed at me.

"What do you think I'm about to do" I snapped.

"Apollo! Apollo, shut up! Shut the hell up!" I heard Mr Tate shout.

I flashed my eyes and the dog started whining.

The boys sighed in relief and Stiles reached over to pick up a book. "Here. Try that" he said to Scott.

"Anything?" I asked.

"All I'm getting is that dog" he replied.

I nodded. "Me too"

Stiles looked at a picture frame and frowned. He took his phone out and snapped a picture of it.

I heard shouting and the three of us quickly headed out of the door back to the car.

"I'm sorry. I tried as hard as I could.
If it wasn't so long ago, I might have been able to do it" Scott apologised to the Sheriff.

"It's okay. It was a long shot. In fact, it was a pretty terrible idea. I think I just ripped a wound open in that poor man. I never should have brought you guys here. I don't know what I was thinking. Thanks for trying, all right?" He smiled at the three of us. "See you at home"

"Aren't there a lot of cases that go unsolved?" I asked Stiles once his dad had drove off.

"Yeah, I just think this is one he felt like he could've figured out right now" Stiles said.

"Why is it so important now?" Scott asked.

"He wants to be able to solve one more while he's still Sheriff"

I leaned forwards. "What do you mean, 'still Sheriff'?"

Stiles opened his mouth and then closed it again.

I sighed, piecing it together. "Is it something to do with Scott's dad coming back?" I asked.

Stiles nodded.

Scott clenched his fists. "He's trying to get him fired, isn't he"

~

"You know, if my dad's right, that means there's another werewolf in town that we haven't met yet" Stiles said as we trudged through the woods looking for car wreckage.

"I know" Scott replied.

"If it turns out to be something like triplets that form into, like, a three headed hound of hell, I'm seriously not up for that"

I laughed.

"Yeah. Me either" Scott said. "Especially if I can't even control my own transformation anymore"

There was a howling in the distance and Stiles jumped, knocking Scott's phone to to the floor and into a puddle.

"Sorry, buddy. I hate coyotes so much. They always sound like they're mauling some tiny, helpless little animal" Stiles shuddered.

I rolled my eyes. "Wuss" I said as I picked Scott's phone up for him. "It still works"

"Let me see the flashlight" Stiles said, putting it over a ditch in the ground.

"I think we found it" I said, nodding towards the old car.

"Why wouldn't they move it? Isn't it evidence?" Scott asked.

Stiles shrugged. "Probably too much of a pain in the ass to tow out"

"Look at this. See those?" Stiles shone the torch over claws on the car. "Animal claws would be closer together, right? A lot closer"

"Then it was a werewolf" Scott said.

"So, my dad was right" Stiles said.

"What is that?" I asked, picking up a doll.

A terrifying electronic voice came from it.

"I'm hungry"

The three of us screamed and I threw the doll away from us.

"I think I just had a minor heart attack" Stiles said, clutching his chest.

I heard growling and slowly turned around.

"Hey, boys. Please tell me you see that" I said, indicating to the angry looking coyote.

"I see it" Stiles said, his voice shaking.

Scott suddenly started running after it.

"Wait, hey, Scott! Scott, wait!" Stiles yelled. He then turned to me. "Don't you dare run after him and leave me here"

"I would never leave you Stiles" I lied.

"Ah, good because-"

Before he could finish I had sprinted off after Scott.

I followed his scent until I tripped over a branch and conveniently landed next to him, on the floor.

And opposite the coyote.

Who's eyes turned steel cold blue.

I glanced at Scott and then back at the coyote which quickly ran off.

"Malia?"

There's a song that goes with each chapter so for example, Track 1 would go with Chapter 1. You get me?

My 8tracks name is literalydia.

But this is the link (hopefully) for Warzone: http://8tracks.com/literalydia/warzone-fanfiction-fanmix
