~{Chapter 6}~

    Burn.
She could let the whole world burn.
Yet, the only world she would burn was her own.

Beepaw was a clan apprentice who would later become a warrior. But, because of what was currently happening, she doubted that would ever happen.

    She was helpless.
    She wasn't useful.

How could she be proud that she used to be a WingedClan apprentice when all she did was fail?

How could Reedflower still defend her while she was the one who killed Brookstar?

The black and orange tortoiseshell apprentice kept running without really even knowing where she was going. Away from her clan, probably, but where would she go next? Away from the forest, where she finally could be free? Free from Hawkclaw, free from Featherstar, free from any accusations that others might find?

    Yes, that was it.
No one would ever notice she was gone. In fact, they'll be fine and happy without her.
And Reedflower would probably recover quickly.

She was now running away from the clans.
Maybe she wouldn't be "Beepaw" anymore, maybe she would be someone else.
Maybe if she ran away, SpiritClan would find another cat to bring peace to the clans.
She doesn't fit in that role, the last warriors should have given this prophecy to someone else instead of an apprentice who would just mess everything up.
Suddenly, Beepaw's stomach began to growl, and she realized she hadn't eaten all day. And, worst of all, night was falling. Suddenly, the smell of a rabbit came to her truffle, and as soon as she saw the prey, she crouched, slowly approaching with hope that it wouldn't notice her presence.

    "Beepaw!"

The rabbit raised its head, then turned towards the black and orange tortoiseshell apprentice before running away as fast as the wind. Beepaw turned her head towards the voice that had made her prey runaway, and she saw Duskpaw emerge from a bush.
"Duskpaw!" she exclaimed as soon as she saw the cream apprentice, "I didn't expect to see you around here."

"Me too, what are you doing here? You know you shouldn't be hunting out of your territory," Duskpaw meowed, "If my mentor catches you here, you'll be in big trouble."

    Beepaw shrugged.
"Meh, I've already been in a lot of trouble anyways. Maybe I should've just been named 'Troublemaker' for this."

"Don't say that," Duskpaw meowed, rubbing up against his friend.

"Well, that's the truth," she insisted.

    Duskpaw's gaze didn't leave Beepaw's.
"If you really are a troublemaker, then so am I. No one is perfect."

    The former WingedClan apprentice spat.
"But I keep messing everything up! Why can't you understand? Not to mention the fact SpiritClan chose me to complete a stupid prophecy. But now that I'm running away..."

The LightningClan apprentice seemed to be shocked.
"You're... running away?" he gasped, "But what about your family and friends there? Plus you're almost at the age of becoming a warrior!"

    Beepaw sighed, then turned away.
"I don't have any friends in my clan, well, expect for Petalpaw, but she's always just too busy with medicine stuff and I can't have a single moment to talk to her without her mentor coming out from nowhere like a ghost."

"I see, but what about becoming a warrior? And your family... you wouldn't really leave them, right?"

"Hawkclaw would be happy if I was gone. He'll find a better apprentice someday," Beepaw paused for a moment, then continued, "and Reedflower is the only family member I have. I see that she cares about me, but maybe she's just playing with my feelings?"

"I'm really sorry," Duskpaw apologized, "I never knew you felt that way, but I actually know how that really feels."

Beepaw turned her gaze to the cream apprentice again, "You do?"

    He nodded.
"Yeah, well I may not have been experiencing the same things as you do in your clan, but I know how it feels to be like a burden in your own clan. My own clan mates don't trust me because my blood is half from DarkClan, and since LightningClan doesn't get along with them..."

"It's hard to gain trust from the others," Beepaw finished for him.

"Yeah, and DarkClan is pretty close with WingedClan, so I think this might be the main reason."

    Beepaw acquired.

"Duskpaw!" someone called out in the dark.

"Coming!" the LightningClan apprentice shouted, "I gotta go, my mentor's looking for me," he added to Beepaw, "I guess I'll see you around?"

"Yeah, cya," Beepaw whispered as Duskpaw walked away. But before he left, he added over his shoulder, "Oh, and about the prophecy, I think I'm ready to help."
