~{Chapter 4}~
"Beepaw."
The black and orange tortoiseshell apprentice woke with a start, startled by the strange voice she'd just heard. She looked around everywhere, but the forest was empty. No one was around. So what was that voice that had called her name?
"Beepaw," the voice called again, but this time, Beepaw could see a tall starry-gray Tom approaching her.
"I-I didn't mean any of this, I-I-I swear!" Beepaw stuttered, "I d-didn't mean to kill Brookstar!"
"Not any of this is your fault, young apprentice," meowed the starry-gray tom, "We already knew that Brookstar would pass away."
"B-but, why are you here then?"
The starry-gray tom blinked, then approached Beepaw to whisper something dark, but deep into her ear.
"The war will be settled, only the sweet bee will fly in peace."
"How come? What do you mean?!" Beepaw asked, confused and panicked about what the spirit cat had just said.
"You will find out by yourself," the spirit cat responded, then began to disappear.
"Wait! You still didn't tell me your name!"
But the spirit cat, however, had already disappeared, but BeePaw could hear him whisper, "I'm Twigheart."
The black and orange tortoiseshell apprentice lowered her head. Should she warn her clan about the message? Probably not, who would believe her anyways? They would probably think she'd lost her mind, especially after them all believing she was the one who'd murdered Brookstar. But... maybe Duskpaw could help! He knows that I didn't kill Brookstar on purpose!
That was is it! She could go find the LightningClan apprentice and tell him about the prophecy and they could both work together... in secret.
"Beepaw!" a familiar voice said, and the apprentice turned to face her mother. Her eyes were filled with worry and she immediately began to lick her daughter on the head, "Where have you been? I was so worried! Why did you run away?" her voice suddenly changed into rage, "What did Hawkclaw tell Featherstar?"
"Hawkclaw... h-he told Featherstar that I killed the WaterClan leader," Beepaw explained, trying to prevent herself from crying, "b-but he completely changed the story of what happened... and Featherstar believed him."
Reedflower hissed in rage, "What kind of leader even is she? Could you have at least told her the truth?" Her voice softened as she asked Beepaw the question.
Beepaw looked away, "No. No one would believe a mouse-brained apprentice."
Her mother clawed the ground, then meowed, "Well, I'll have a word with her. I don't care if she is the leader. She should listen to anyone's words—even the youngest ones, not just the oldest."
And with that she left, Beepaw trailing after her after a bit of hesitation.
