~{Chapter 2}~
"Cobwebs help to stop the bleeding, we're lucky that we found a lot yesterday," Petalpaw said as she wrapped the cobwebs around Beepaw's wound.
"Thanks," Beepaw replied, "I'm starting to feel much better now, so I can go back to training."
Even though I hate it.
Petalpaw sat next to her friend.
"I don't think you'll be able to train with that injury- I mean, that's just what I think. I'm not trying to offend you or anything."
Beepaw wasn't offended by the medicine apprentice's words. In fact, it wouldn't really matter to her if she could stop training for a whole moon. At least she could escape Hawkclaw, right?
"Well, I think I need to rest for a bit," she declared in an awkward tone.
"Who needs to rest?" a voice suddenly joined them. It was Goldenpool, Petalpaw's mentor, who was coming back with the medicine herbs. Petalpaw got up and ran towards the golden she-cat, whispering something into her ear. Beepaw couldn't quite understand what she was saying, but by the look on the face of the medicine cat, she could tell it was serious.
"We'll talk about this at the Moon-lake with the other medicine cats," Goldenpool finally concluded after a long pause.
"What were all those whispers about?" Beepaw couldn't help but ask, burning with curiosity.
"Oh, nothing. It's just medicine stuff, y'know," Petalpaw answer, a slight tone of anxiety in her eyes as she looked towards Beepaw.
"Oh well," Beepaw shrugged, "I guess that doesn't really matter then, but like, why keep secrets? If that's some issue that SpiritClan can help with, then I don't see the point of hiding the solution."
Goldenpool stared at the tortoiseshell she-cat, frustration burning in her blue eyes.
"We're only trying to do what it is best for the clan, and SpiritClan actually stayed quiet for many moons after your birth. But I refuse to believe that they gave us up."
Beepaw immediately realized that she had spoken to fast and, not wanting to make the golden she cat mad, layed down in the nest she was in and closed her eyes.
--------------------
The tortoiseshell apprentice followed her clanmates. Two moons had passed since the last attack with WaterClan's patrol, and Hawkclaw thought that Beepaw had fully healed. Goldenpool, Featherstar, and Swallowheart thought the same thing so they decided to let her come to her first gathering.
Among the other cats that were coming as well was Lavenderleaf, Mynaflight, Branchfur, Flyingpaw, and Reedflower. They slowly began to leave the camp. Beepaw could feel the wind brushing against her fur, and the sky seemed to be getting darker and darker, as if it wanted the stars to not come.
The WingedClan cats finally arrived at a Tree-bridge that led them to the four rocks that every clan met at each full moon. Here, there would be a truce where the cats would discuss important topics and such. Beepaw was told all of this, and she felt extremely excited to experience this for the first time.
I just hope I won't see the same patrol as last time though. I don't want to take the risk of having to fight again.
When it was finally her turn to cross the Tree-bridge, Beepaw made sure her claws were unsheathed in case she slipped and fell into the water. She didn't want to embarrass herself at her first gathering... which was supposed to happen a while ago, but SpiritClan decided otherwise.
"Hurry up, slowpoke!" Hawkclaw hissed, "We do not have all night."
"I'm here!" Beepaw said, joining her mentor from the other side.
"Took you long enough," he growled, "Now come on! The others are already to the four rocks."
He walked ahead, leaving Beepaw behind him.
The four rocks was full of cats from different Clans. Beepaw couldn't tell which one was from WaterClan, DarkClan, or LightningClan because she'd never met any of these cats, or at least didn't remember them or their names.
"Hello there," a calm voice suddenly meowed from behind the tortoiseshell apprentice.
"Oh, hi," Beepaw responded, turning her gaze to another apprentice, about the same age as her. He was a beautiful beige tom with green eyes that seemed to shine in the middle of the night. He also looked pretty kind.
"I'm Duskpaw," the beige apprentice introduced himself, "I'm a LightningClan apprentice."
"I'm Beepaw," the tortoiseshell introduced herself in turn, "and I'm a-"
"-WingedClan apprentice?" Duskpaw guessed.
"How did you know?" Beepaw purred in amusement.
"Because you smell like a bird."
Beepaw didn't have time to say anything else, as Hollowstar had already declared the start of the gathering. All gazes turned to the clan leaders, each of them standing on a rock.
Four rocks, four clans, four leaders, Beepaw thought.
"I'd like to start," Featherstar declared, the other leaders nodding their approval.
"I know how much WaterClan wants to get us away from the forest," the white leader started to growl, looking down at the WaterClan cats, "but know that WingedClan will never give up. We're not going anywhere, and we'll stay where we are!"
WingedClan cats cheered up her words by screaming, "SHAME ON WATERCLAN!"
Beepaw didn't join her clanmates in their screams. It was useless. It wasn't going to do anything. And I can't do anything either.
Brookstar claimed the silence by a hiss, and once everything was quiet again, she turned to Wingedstar.
"Don't be so sure about that. WingedClan never had its place here."
"What is this fish-brain talking about? You've always had your place here!" Duskpaw whispered.
"It's just... really complicated," Beepaw exclaimed, looking down at her paws, not wanting to see the leaders fight during a gathering, That would be so messed up! Luckily, Hollowstar and Swiftstar both stopped them by making them move back.
"It's not time to talk about who is welcome here and who is not," Hollowstar meowed, "This gathering is supposed to be peaceful. Do you really want it to end by a bloody war?"
Featherstar and Brookstar both stayed quiet.
"As for DarkClan, everything is fine. Softbeam is expecting Alderbreeze's kits. New, loyal warriors in our clan are always welcome."
"Who knows if these kits will be loyal?" Beepaw purred to the LightningClan apprentice. Duskpaw smiled at her.
"Well, each cat from every clan are loyal to their own clan, right?"
The DarkClan leader then invited Brookstar to speak, and the she cat thanked him by a gaze.
"We have a new apprentice among us. Beampaw let go of her apprenticeship as a warrior, and chose to follow the path of a medicine cat apprentice."
"Beampaw! Beampaw!" everyone celebrated, as well as Beepaw, who was very happy for the new medicine cat apprentice, despite never seeing her before.
Once everything was quiet again, Swiftstar spoke in turn, "My clan has everything it ever needed. Each day we are becoming stronger and stronger, and the hunting is well."
When she finished, she gazed at the other leaders, wondering if they wanted to say anything else, which they seemed to not.
"Then I guess the gathering is over," she said, jumping from her rock and waiting for her clanmates to follow her.
"I gotta go too," Duskpaw said, "It was nice to meet you, Beepaw. Hope I see you in the next gathering."
"You too," Beepaw replied, watching her new friend go, eyes filled with sadness
