Chapter One

Amberblaze was on the border patrol with Peachfur, Graystorm, Lionpelt, and Fireflare. "RedClan's been really annoying lately." Peachfur told the patrol. "I'm going by what you are saying." Lionpelt told the cats. "Duskstar usually puts me on hunting patrols." Amberblaze wondered if they would meet a RedClan patrol. The two clans in the forest were RedClan and BlueClan. She was a BlueClan warrior. "I wish Sunstripe was on this patrol." Fireflare muttered. He dipped his golden head to look at the ground.

"RedClan always listens to her!" Amberblaze shook her head. "Too bad she got hurt by those brambles." She said. "Not only was RedClan respectful to her she was also a good hunter." "She'll be back soon." Peachfur promised the cats. "Bluefeather is treating her well." There was not ever only RedClan

and BlueClan in the forest. There used to be a YellowClan and a GreenClan, too. Many moons ago, RedClan and BlueClan united under the leadership of Flowerstar of RedClan and Foxstar of BlueClan, the ancient leaders of RedClan and BlueClan, drove them out to have their territory.

YellowClan and GreenClan had left and moved to a new territory far, far away. "Okay, let's go and mark those borders!" Amberblaze meowed. "I'm not sitting here and talking all day!" Graystorm nodded. "Good point!" He meowed. When the cats went to mark the borders, they did meet a RedClan patrol. Amberblaze reconized Raincloud, Blackwhisker, Waspfur, Snakepelt, and Smokepaw. "What are you doing here?" Raincloud hissed, her gray tail lashing with anger. "Marking our borders like any cat." Graystorm replied. "You're too close to ours." Blackwhisker hissed. "Snakepelt," Smokepaw asked his mentor. "May I shred them?" "Only with my say-so." Snakepelt growled. "We'll mark the borders and be on our way." Lionpelt told the RedClan cats smoothly. "Mark the border and leave." Waspfur hissed. "That's what we were going to do in the first place." Amberblaze hissed back to Waspfur. Sometimes RedClan doesn't make sense. "Let's go," Peachfur meowed. "We marked the borders. Let's not waste anymore time here." She padded away. "That was stupid." Amberblaze growled. "What a waste of time."

When the patrol came back to camp, Amberblaze went to the medicine cat's den. Bluefeather was in there, sorting herbs. "Marigold....Horsetail....Feverfew....Goldenrod...." She mumbled. She then noticed Amberblaze. "Oh! Amberblaze! Come in!" Once Amberblaze settled down, Bluefeather asked, "Are you okay? Are you hurt?" "I'm fine." Amberblaze answered. "Where's Goldpaw-oh! I mean Goldfur." She corrected herself. The golden colored tom had earned his clan name last night when he and Bluefeather went to talk to StarClan-their warrior ancestors-at the Moontree. He had earned his name along with Maplecloud, the apprentice to the RedClan medicine cat, Hawkfur. Bluefeather and Hawkfur had talked and they decided that Goldpaw and Maplepaw were ready. So they got the names Goldfur and Maplecloud. The medicine cats were friends and they liked each other. They stayed out of clan rivalries and shared news with each other. Bluefeather looked disappointed. "So you want to talk to him instead of me? I never get any visitors anymore. Unless it's to heal a scratch." Amberblaze felt bad. "Oh, that's fine. I just wanted to talk to a medicine cat. I would honestly be more than happy to talk with you." Bluefeather nodded. "Okay, sure." She said.
