Chapter Four
"An omen! An omen!" Bluefeather yowled as she raced out of the medicine cat's den. Amberblaze woke up. Duskstar ran out of his den. "An omen?" He asked. "Yes! An omen! An omen of the tree!" Bluefeather yowled. Last night was the gathering. Duskstar's eyes widened. "You mean the Moontree?" "Yes! The Moontree!" Bluefeather yowled. "StarClan gave me a dream!" Duskstar looked at her. "What did they have you dream?" Bluefeather took a deep breath. "So I was walking in the forest and I stepped in a mud puddle, but this was a silver mud puddle, and then a piece of straw flew down from the sky and once it hit the mud puddle, the straw turned golden! Oh! There was a prophecy, too. After that, StarClan cats whispered in my ear, The great ending is near, two stars in the sky are the last hope before the end."
Amberblaze's eyes widened. A prophecy and an omen! She got up and padded outside. She then looked around camp. Most of the cats were gone. Then, she noticed that besides Flarelily, Wolfsong, and Berrytail, she was the only cat still in the warrior's den.
Amberblaze was out in the forest. She had decided to go on a walk. She was not needed out on hunting patrols or border patrols. The clan deputy, Squirreltail, told her she had the patrols all handled out. I'll visit Twolegplace! Amberblaze thought. Clan cats were ordered to stay away from Twolegplace but Amberblaze didn't care. No cat will find me. She thought.
Amberblaze padded through Twolegplace. She had hunted a few garden birds. She had also teased a few Kittypets and sent them running home with nipped tails. That was fun. Amberblaze thought. I must do this more often.
On the way home, Amberblaze walked through the forest dragging a pigeon and a squirrel. Great hunting! She thought. She spotted a silver Kittypet sniffing around in the woods a fox-length ahead. More Kittypets? She thought. She walked toward the Kittypet. The Kittypet looked at Amberblaze. Amberblaze expected it to let out a terrified screech and run but this Kittypet stayed where she was and looked at Amberblaze. "Hello, how are you today?" The Kittypet asked. "Good...." Answered Amberblaze. "My name's Bella, what's yours?" Asked Bella. "Amberblaze." Amberblaze said. "Amberblaze.... what a weird name. Why did your Housefolk name you that?" Housefolk? I don't have any Housefolk! This stupid Kittypet better watch what she says! "Well?" Bella clearly wanted an answer. "Why are you here?" Asked Amberblaze, ignoring Bella's question. Bella looked at the ground. "I ran away from my Housefolk," She confessed. "They brought home this new cat named Smokey. Smokey made me leave. I want to live with the wild forest cats. Do you know them?" Bella looked at Amberblaze, with wide, hopeful eyes. "Actually," Amberblaze began. "I am one." Bella's eyes gleamed. "Really?" Amberblaze nodded. "Yes, really," "Can I live with you?" Asked Bella. Amberblaze was nervous. What would her Clanmates think if she brought back a Kittypet? Amberblaze was willing to try. We need more young cats to train. We only have two apprentices left, Patchpaw and Sandpaw, and Gingerbird's litter, Zebrakit, Mudkit, Shadowkit, and Badgerkit are way too young! "We can try," Amberblaze finally said. Bella looked worried. "What if they don't like me? What if they make fun of me?" "That won't happen," Amberblaze meowed. "I promise,"
