Chapter 3 - Teamwork
"Let's go," Icetail hissed to them. Timberclaw was in charge of taking the branch while the others were in charge of distracting the other group.
"Hopefully we will win!" Lightningcurl spoke excitedly.
"If the other group doesn't have a better plan," Lilyflower pointed out.
Suddenly, the bushes in front of them rustled. Webfoot sprung out of it, out of breath.
"The other group is heading for the branch," he mewed.
"Let's do this," Frostblaze meowed, racing ahead.
"Hey, let me go first!" Lightningcurl protested, charging after her.
When Frostblaze caught sight of the other group, she realised that most of them are there - only Dewsplash was missing.
Without hesitation, Frostblaze aimed for Emberstorm's pelt and leaped.
As she tussled with the other warrior, she caught a glimpse of Lightningcurl fighting with Dustfur.
Frostblaze stumbled backwards when Emberstorm landed a heavy blow, but she quickly recovered, shaking her head as if to clear her dizziness.
She ducked as he swiped again with a sheathed paw, and brust forward quickly. Emberstorm was momentarily stunned, which gave her a chance to pin the older warrior down.
When Frostblaze turned to check how the others were doing, some of them weren't as lucky as her.
Stripepad and Berryheart had pinned down a furious Lightningcurl while Appleshade pinned Lilyflower down.
Frostblaze was caught off guard when Emberstorm suddenly broke out of her grip. She fell but before Emberstorm could pin her down, Icetail raced over and knocked Emberstorm away.
The two toms circled around each other before springing. Frostblaze got up and ran towards Lightningcurl to help him, but was stopped by Dustfur.
"Show me what you got," he challenged.
"This!" Frostblaze replied, twisting to hit a bunch of leaves towards him. As Dustfur tried to shake off the leaves, Frostblaze swiped at his paws as hard as she could.
"Let me help," it was Webfoot who spoke, tackling Dustfur. "Go help Lightningcurl."
Frostblaze nodded and ran towards the silver tom, who was angry and frustrated.
Stripepad spotted her but remained where he was.
What should I do? Frostblaze wondered.
Before she could come up with a plan, Grassheart had landed in between Stripepad and Berryheart, half crushing Lightningcurl as well.
"Hey!" came Lightningcurl's muffled voice. "Stop crushing me!"
Frostblaze quickly sped forward and tried to knock Berryheart off while Grassheart had successfully shoved Stripepad off.
She could feel Lightningcurl struggling to break free as she swiped at the white tortoiseshell she-cat.
"Hurry up!" Lightningcurl hissed.
Frostblaze sighed and began to think of a better idea, but there was no need.
She spotted her former mentor racing past every cat, carrying the branch awkwardly as he tried to make it to the other side.
Dewsplash was close behind him, and Frostblaze knew Timberclaw would need help.
Frostblaze ran towards Timberclaw while Lightningcurl protested angrily. She stood in front of Dewsplash, determined to stop her from stopping Timberclaw.
Just as the two she-cats sprung at each other, Timberclaw let out a triumphant yowl.
We did it! Frostblaze thought happily.
As Blazestrike stopped the cats who were still tussling with each other, the cats who had stopped fighting began to gather around.
Blazestrike returned, nodding with approval. "You have seen - or least, felt - a few of your Clanmates' strengths and weaknesses. The aim of this game is not to discourage you, but to improve your skills in battle. Lilyflower would you like to share what you have experienced?"
Lilyflower looked nervous, but with an encouraging nod from Webfoot, she began to speak.
"Well, I was fighting Appleshade. She is more experienced than me, so I wasn't really expecting her to dodge from my first few attacks. Then, she surprised me and I couldn't recover fast enough to stop her from pinning me down," she mewed.
"What did you learn from it?" Blazestrike asked.
"I need to be quicker on my paws and be ready for anything that could happen," Lilyflower replied.
"Thanks for sharing with us," he mewed with a quick nod. "Why don't the rest of you spend the rest of the day - unless you have patrols of course - sharing what you have learned with each other. This way, your battle skills will improve."

A/N: Sorry that the past few chapters are quite boring :/ but the next chapter will be slightly more interesting. ;)
By the way, who do you think will have a POV in the upcoming battle from ThunderClan other than Frostblaze?
