Chapter 10 - Faith Will Bring Them Strength

Frostblaze blinked. She was back in the cavern with the Moonstone. It was pitch-black and Frostblaze could hardly see her whiskers.

She padded out of the cavern, carefully putting her paw in front the other to avoid trampling on any stray stones.

She didn't know what to think of what Sunstar said. She was confused, tired and wary.

Frostblaze picked up her pace, stepped out of the tunnel. Silverpelt stared down at her, its brilliant light - along with the moon's light - helping Frostblaze to see a little better in the night.

She felt her eyes adjusting to the darkness as she padded on.

Frostblaze crossed the Thunderpath with ease - no monsters were roaming there that night.

The Twoleg farm looked like a dark shape. She could see the two dogs sleeping in a strange looking den with their bellies exposed and their tongues hanging out.

Frostblaze walked towards the moor, which looked empty and plain compared to the other territories.

She felt herself running by the time she reached Fourtrees. It was empty, but she strangely felt that some cat was there.

Frostblaze bristled instinctively. When she lifted her nose to scent for any fresh scents, she could only pick up the stale scents from the previous day's meeting.

Tired from the running, she sat down near the Great Rock. Will the Clans survive? she wondered. It seems that the fate of the Clans is sealed.

Suddenly, a bright light appeared in front of Frostblaze. The young warrior heard a faint buzzing sound as the strange moving light began to fly around.

What is that thing? Frostblaze thought as she gazed at the thing with amazement.

It's a sign of hope! she suddenly realised. Despite the darkness of the night, it is able to find its way towards the light.

She nodded, finally understanding. I know what I must do.

A screech from the camp made Frostblaze pick up her pace. What if the battle has already started? she thought, trying not to panic.

Then she saw it. A light brown tabby she-cat was lying on the ground, wincing in pain.

"Honeyfrost!" Frostblaze called.

"Frostblaze?" she looked at her tiredly. "Did I wake you?"

"No," Frostblaze stared at the small pool of blood that is forming around her belly. "What happened?"

"I just wanted to take a walk," she groaned. "But I tripped and cut myself on a sharp rock."

"I'll get Stagwind," she mewed, racing into camp.

She brust in the medicine cat den and prodded Stagwind with a paw. "Stagwind," she hissed. "Wake up."

The medicine cat stirred and mewed quietly, "Why did you wake me?"

"Honeyfrost is injured," Frostblaze meowed.

"Honeyfrost is injured?" she exclaimed, leaping to her paws. "Why did you say so earlier?"

Stagwind began to grab some herbs and cobwebs and sped out without pausing to look back.

Frostblaze hurried after her. I wonder what made Stagwind so anxious about Honeyfrost.

When she reached the place where Honeyfrost was, Stagwind was hurriedly chewing up marigold and gently putting the pulp onto the she-cat's wounds.

"This should do it," Stagwind mewed, covering the treated wound with cobwebs. "Don't worry, it's just a small cut."

"Will my kits be okay?" she asked anxiously.

"Kits?" Frostblaze exclaimed in shock. "I didn't know you were expecting kits." As she spoke, she felt a little guilty for not noticing her foster mother much the past few days.

"For more than two moons already," Honeyfrost mewed. "I didn't tell any cat yet, because every cat's so busy with the battle preparations, and I didn't want to be a burden by not helping because I'm expecting kits."

"You are not a burden!" Stagwind mewed. "Your kits will be fine and every cat can take care of you."

Honeyfrost let out a sigh. "So, Frostblaze, how are you?"

"Fine," she replied immediately.

"Really?" Honeyfrost's voice was soft and filled with worry. "I have noticed that you have been tired and stressed, and you have seemed to become more doubtful of yourself."

"Every cat's worried," Frostblaze tried to shrug it off.

"Yes, but I can sense that you have been acting weird since you disappeared and came back recently," Honeyfrost mewed.

"Unlike the previous battles that I have heard, there is a chosen cat to defeat the enemy," Frostblaze mewed, clawing away clumps of grass and dirt from the ground. "But in this one, there is none. I thought that with such an important battle coming, StarClan would choose some cat - any cat - strong enough to defeat Snarlfang."

"We don't need a chosen cat to defeat Snarlfang," Honeyfrost mewed softly. "We just need our faith to defeat the Dark Forest, once and for all."

"Trust me," she pressed her fur against Frostblaze's fur. "Tomorrow's battle will be okay."

"Wait, tomorrow?" Frostblaze sounded confused. "Isn't it three days later?"
