Chapter two

"Flame..." The expression on Darktooth's face was really clear now. He was mad, really mad. At both her and Snow.

"Don't be mad at Snow, she didn't do anything wrong!" Flame begged, "It was all my fault!" But her words were cut off by a growl.

Darktooth turned to Snow, "Leave," he said sternly. Then he turned to Flame, "Do I need to talk to you about your duties as a warrior again, or are you going to start taking them seriously!" To Flame his anger was too much to take and he got more angry at her than anyone else because she was his daughter. "Listen... Flame your not an apprentice any more, you're a warrior. That means you have special responsibilities," He sighed, "Come. Walk with me."

They left the camp and went to the lookout, a cliff that rose high above the trees. There they sat, and talked.

"I am the leader of this clan," He said looking off into the beautiful sunset, "That means I have my own responsibilities, and I can't keep putting them off because you don't want to do yours. Do you understand?"

Flamed looked down at her paws. She closed her eyes and sighed before looking up and saying, "Yeah, I guess I should try to be a little more mature... But being grown up and serious all the time can get boring..."

"Yes I know, but it is what we all have to do for the clan." His deep voice was soft, his expression was unreadable again. "You have to understand this Flame, for the good of the clan." Then he got up and left.
