Chapter 19:

Gorsepaw glanced over her shoulder. This was the last time she would be seeing the barn... And she wanted to cherish the moment. Cherry and Lily bounced around her paws, squealing with excitement. "Gorsepaw! Gorsepaw!" Lily squeaked. "Where are we going?" She asked, tipping her small head to the side. "We're going back home after the adventure, right?"

Gorsepaw's eyes glittered with sorrow. As much as she wanted to explain to the brown specked she-kit, she knew she could not. "Right?" Lily repeated, locking her beautiful green eyes with Gorsepaw's hazel eyes. Gorsepaw sighed, guilt washing through her.

"O-Of course, Lily..." Gorsepaw lied. She wished it didn't have to be this way. Lily grinned, and nearly ran into her sister.

"I told you we'd be coming back home!" She mewled.

"Did not!" Cherry retorted.

"Did too!" Lily flung herself at her sister and the two began rolling around in the glass. Julie nudged them to a stop.

"Please," she murmured. "Don't play around. I don't want anything bad happening to you now that we are out in the open."

Cherry and Lily sighed as if on cue and nodded. "Alright, Gorsepaw!" Timber exclaimed, his brown tail swishing to the side as he looked confidently at the unknown vast landscape. "Where do we head off to?"

Gorsepaw hesitated. She hadn't thought about this. "Um... Where did you find me?" She asked.

Julie smiled. "Just over there." She meowed, indicating a forest that wasn't that far off with a flick of her tail. "We scared off the fox... And brought you to the barn."

"Well, the clans must be somewhere past there, then." Gorsepaw exclaimed, her tail shooting upwards.

"What's the clans?" Cherry mewed, staring up at Gorsepaw with wide wondrous eyes.

"The clans... Are where I come from." Gorsepaw said finally after a few moments.

Cherry's eyes flashed. "So we're not going back, are we?"

"O-of course we are!" Gorsepaw gasped, taking a step back. Cherry looked up at her, her bottom lip trembling.

"Sweetie," Julie meowed. "You don't understand, you might actually like the clan life. This is new for me and your father as well."

"R-really?" Lily piped in.

Julie locked her eyes with the white-and-reddish patched she-kit. "Really." She looked at Gorsepaw. "Ready to leave?"

Gorsepaw sighed, her tail flicking from side to side. "Of course."
