"All cats old enough to catch their own prey gather below the High Rock!" Moonstar's call echoed throughout the camp. Crystalpaw padded out from under the hollowed out bushes that had once held the path to a secret exit out of camp. The warriors who had attempted to block  the exit had closed up all the holes around the mossy tree - but they didn't realize that the tree was the true exit. Crystalpaw knew that she should've told the warriors how they'd really escaped, but that spot could be useful later.

"Hey, Crystalpaw!" Crystalpaw turned to see Whitepaw, Shimmerpaw, and Silverpaw scampering up to her. It took all she had not to run up to where the rest of the clan was gathering. The sun was low in the sky and soon would sink below the trees. Then would be the Gathering! Crystalpaw's ears twitched with excitement. 

"Crystalpaw, do you think we're going to the Moonlight Gathering tonight?" Whitepaw asked.

"Hmm...I don't know, Whitepaw. There's an awful lot of us." Crystalpaw replied. Silverpaw looked thoughtful, staring at the white tom who was sitting on the High Rock with his tail tucked neatly over his paws.

"He'll bring me, Shimmerpaw, Whitepaw, Brightpaw, Crystalpaw, Silvernight, Applefrost, Frostfoot, Firedawn, and himself." Silverpaw meowed suddenly. Crystalpaw, Whitepaw and Shimmerpaw stared at her. 

"Well, yeah...hopefully that's who he'll bring." Shimmerpaw meowed.

"Unless you apprentices can't hunt, I'd suggest you come and join the meeting." Moonstar called. Crystalpaw jumped. 

"Uhhh...sorry Moonstar." Whitepaw muttered. The apprentices scampered over and settled down near the other apprentices,  pelts prickling with embarrassment. Moonstar purred with amusement and began to speak.

"As you all know, the Moonlight Gathering is tonight. Usually, we would bring all of the new apprentices, but that would be impossible, seeing as there would be more apprentices than warriors if we did." Other cats mewed amused agreement as Silverpaw leaned over and whispered,

"Oh, and he'll bring Flameclaw and Nightshadow too." Crystalpaw stared at her in bewilderment as Moonstar continued.

"The cats going to the Gathering are:"

"Shimmerpaw."

"Whitepaw."

"Brightpaw."

"Crystalpaw."

"Silverpaw."

"Silvernight."

"Applefrost."

"Nightshadow."

"Flameclaw."

"And of course, Frostfoot and myself. Those going to the Gathering, eat something and stay in the camp. Dismissed." The meeting dispersed, but Crystalpaw, Shimmerpaw, and Whitepaw stayed in place, gaping at Silverpaw.

"H-how did you know who Moonstar was going to choose?" Shimmerpaw stammered. Silverpaw hunched her shoulders.

"Just a...lucky guess,... I suppose." Silverpaw replied nervously. 

"What happened?" Brightpaw mewed. Crystalpaw and her brother turned and Shimmerpaw looked behind her to see the other apprentices scampering up to them, Brightpaw in the lead. They must've realized something was wrong when we didn't disperse like everyone else. Crystalpaw thought. 

"Silverpaw knew who Moonstar was going to choose to go to the Moonlight Gathering!" Shimmerpaw blurted. 

"Really?" Starpaw gasped, staring up at her sister in admiration. Silverpaw scuffed her paws. 

"It was pretty obvious that Moonstar would pick you three, since your his kits." Silverpaw meowed, motioning with her tail to Crystalpaw and her brother and sister. "And..." Silverpaw trailed off, not sure how else she could explain her guess. She didn't have to, because the apprentices were inturrupted by a young brown tabby who had come bounding toward them from the medicine den.

"Birdflight!" Brightpaw exlaimed. "What's wrong?" Birdflight's eyes were bright with happiness as she said,

"Nothing's wrong, Brightpaw!" Birdflight meowed excitedly. "I'm going to have Darkleaf's kits!"

Ummm...so! I've never done an author's note kind of thing, but I've seen other people do it, so...

Anyway, I wanted to clarify the apprentices and their families, since I actually confused myself earlier in the book. So...

Brightpaw and Amberpaw are siblings, and their parents are Dawnsky and Grayfur. 

Crystalpaw, Whitepaw and Shimmerpaw are siblings, and their parents are Moonstar and Firedawn.

Silverpaw and Starpaw are siblings, and their parents are Skyheart (deceased :'( ) and Iceleap.
