▪️ LIGHTNINGPAW ▪️
Lightingpaw sighed as she looked for Flamepaw. He wasn't any where to be seen. She'd checked all the dens and he wasn't in any.
/Maybe I'm just being Mouse-brained/ She thought. "Hey, Lightingpaw, want to go hunting today, or train?" Mapleclaw asked.
"Uhh, hunting?" Lightingpaw meowed, and looked at Mapleclaw. He nodded, "It'll always be good to fill up the fresh-kill pile!" He said, and bounded out of camp. Lightingpaw followed more slowly, keeping a eye for Flamepaw. When they got to their destination, Mapleclaw stopped. There was a small clearing up ahead, tall grass and brightly colored flowers filled it.
The scent of rabbit filled Lightingpaw's mouth, and Mapleclaw crouched, slowly approaching the clearing. Lightingpaw followed him, but she was clumsy, stepping on sticks, and got hissed at by Mapleclaw to shush.
Two brown rabbits were nibbling on some grass, unaware of the cats. One lifted its head as the cats drew near, and looked around. Lightingpaw stopped, but Mapleclaw kept on going.
It wasn't till long that the rabbits knew they were there, and Mapleclaw pounced, swiftly killing one, while the other one ran straight towards Lightingpaws hiding spot. She tumbled with the rabbit in the grass, and after a moments hesitation, killed it.
She looked down at what she had got, it was a decant sized rabbit. Mapleclaw padded up with his rabbit. "Nice catch!" He praised, and Lightingpaw puffed out her chest. "It never saw me coming!" She meowed, and picked it up.
When they returned to camp, Lightingpaw boasted to the other Apprentices about her catch. "Yea, yea" Darkpaw muttered. Pantherpaw mummered about the same thing, and Lightingpaw frowned.
/fine, if they don't care I'll go and find Flamepaw!/ She thought, /He did say that he liked Rabbit../
▪️STRIPE ▪️
Stripe sighed, her belly rumbling. She left her dark and damp den, shivering at the brisk air. A squirrel sat at the base of the tree, biting at a nut. She instantly crouched, slowly creeping up on it. When she was just about to pounce, a loud barking interrupted her, and the squirrel shot up the tree.
She growled and climbed up after it, but she lost it in all the leaves and branches. "Mouse brain!" The barking grew closer, and she heard another cat enter her tree. She peered through the leaves, seeing the ginger apprentice, Flamepaw. /What's he doing here?/ She thought, and climbed down towards him.
She tapped his shoulder, and he almost fell of the branch. The dog was barking below them.
"Stripe..?"
"Who do you think it is?" She hissed, slightly irritated. /Now there's a dog../ she growled in frustration.
After a moments hesitation, he responded. "Uh... I didn't mean to come here! The dog chased me!" He meowed smoothly.
The dog below let out exited barks, and Stripe hissed at it. "Great, follow me" She meowed, and climbed up higher in the tree. The next tree came into view, a reasonable jump. Stripe leaped first, landing swiftly on the other side. She turned around, looking for Flamepaw.
"Come on, jump!" She growled,. Flamepaw hesitated, then jumped. Stripe was there to support him when he landed, and pulled him back up. The dog continued its barking, looking for the cats.
Stripe flicked her tail for him to follow her, and led him through the tree. A low branch hung near the twoleg fence, and she jumped down onto it. Flamepaw joined her after a moment, and they walked towards Stripe den. The dog most likely left by now, and when they reached her den, the sun was going down.
She hesitated, looking at her den, before jumping down. Flamepaw followed her, and she collected some more moss. "It'll be to dark for you to go back, you'll have to spend the night here" she mumbled just loud enough, and squeezed through the small hole.
She sat the moss farthest away from her nest, and waited for him to settle down. She quietly left, and caught a mouse. She quickly finished it in a few famished bites, and settled down in her nest.
She watched Flamepaw for a moment, feeling something she hadn't felt for moons, but she couldn't quite place it..
