▪️ LIGHTNINGKIT ▪️

"Call me Stripekit!" Whitekit mewed to her mother stubbornly, convinced that she's going to get stripes like her mom even she's a pure white kit.

"Come here, Lightingkit," Springpool purred. The smoky grey little fluff of fur padded over. Whitekit and Dawnkit were already devouring the mouse laying at their mothers paws.

Lightingkit wasn't hungry, and decided to play with a moss ball. "Lightingkit, come eat!" Springpool called again and Lightingkit scampered over to her.

"But mom! I'm not hungry..." She mumbled, and shifted on her paws.

"You better be hungry, little one. You will be a apprentice soon!" She meowed, and Lightingkit came over and ate a part of a mouse.

"Mom look!" Whitekit ran over yowling and pounced on top of Lightingkit. The grey she-kit hissed in annoyance, but Whitekit didn't notice. She rolled off, and Springpool lifted her head.

"Yes, Whitekit?" She meowed. "See look, I have stripes!" Whitekit mewed, happily walking in front of Springpool, and showing off her faint blueish grey stripes.

Lightingkit looked up, surprised that her sister would in fact be a tabby. Dawnkit came in and toppled Whitekit over, and they started wrestling.

"Springpool...?" Flowerheart called, from outside of the den.

"Springpool padded out, and Lightingkit strained to hear what she was saying.
"Darkfrost... was on a border patrol, when an ambush attacked the patrol on the Skyclan border..... Hawkpaw came back as quickly as he can to get help, while Darkfrost and Poppyheart stayed to fight.." Flowerheart paused, "He fended them off.... Saving Hawkpaw and Poppyheart, but... he was killed by a SkyClan cat..."

She finished in a whisper, Darkfrost was the three kits father. The large tom had given Lightningkit her grey pelt, while their mom was brown, with sliver stripes.

"He's... dead...?" Springpool, asked, fear and greif lacing her voice.

"I'm so sorry Springpool..." Flowerheart meowed, her voice thick with grief.

"Take me where he died..." She meowed, and Lightingkit sprang out, to see Flowerheart, Oakpaw, and Rosepaw racing after Springpool, as she raced out of camp. Whitekit followed, then Dawnkit.

"Guys! We have to go!" Dawnkit said, fear in her voice. Lightingkit nodded, and so did Whitekit, and they raced after them.

When they finally caught up, the reek of death lay heavy in the air. There, was Lightingkit's mother and farther on the ground, a black tom standing above them both. He turned his head up, and saw them. A smile creeped on his face and he charged the kits.

They all shrieked and ran. He caught up with them quickly and snatched Dawnkit up, who let out a terrified squeak, before falling silent. Her limp body fell to the ground, blood welling out of her neck. The once golden fur now stained with stomach-renching blood.

"Dawnkit!" Whitekit screeched, and tried running up to her, but Lightingkit held her back. The cat would kill them both if they didn't get out of there.

"Whitekit! We must go!" Lightingkit yowled, fear lacing her voice.

"No! You stupid flea-brain!" Whitekit whispered, showing utter defeat.

"Where do you think your going?" The tom growled and they both started running back to camp. After a while, they both stopped; panting.

"Lightingkit! What were you doing!" Whitekit yowled at her. Lightingkit cowered away.

Whitekit... you would've of died too! I wouldn't have any family left!" Lightingkit cried; fresh tears running down her face.

Whitekit stopped all of a sudden, a snarl plastered on her face. "For now on, you have no family! It's your fault Dawnkit is dead! If we had just stayed to try and help her!" she snarled. She raked her sharp claws along Lightingkit's muzzle and the grey tabby let out a screech. She ran back to camp, keeping a eye out for Whitekit. The red liquid dripped down her check, and when she entered camp, Flowerheart was all over Lightingkit.

"I'm so sorry!" She whispered, and cleaned her cuts.
