Chapter 13

Here's a double upload to make up for my laziness.

Shadeheart's POV:

Shadeheart was snapped out of his meal when a high-pitched yowl came from the medicine cat, followed by Shinewing being shoved into the main clearing by Batfang. Shadeheart was on his paws in an instant, discarding his sparrow entirely. What is going on?

The black furred tom stormed up to Batfang, confronting the warrior with narrowed eyes. "What's going on?" He demanded sternly, glancing down at Shinewing, who crouched nervously on the sandy ground.

"The medicine cat won't heal my wounds!" Batfang growled, kicking Shinewing with a paw. "So she's going to NoName to get what she deserves."

"First of all, the medicine cat has a name. Her name is Shinewing." Shadeheart started with a lash of his tail, quickly filling his role of Enforcer. It was strange, but amazing as well, to be able to hold such power of the Dark Forest warriors. This is the kind of rush that made NoName crave leadership so much. "And secondly.. What wounds are you talking about?" He searched the tom a second time in case he'd missed something, but he seemed completely healthy.

"Here." Batfang growled, revealing a small scratch under his fur. "And Shinewing didn't want to waste herbs on me! Selfish LightClan scum!" He glared at the golden she cat, who was growling right back at him. Shadeheart admired Shinewing's defiance, even if her life was potentially at risk.

"Suck it up and go back to patrolling." Shadeheart ordered the dark furred tom. "Shinewing was right to refuse healing you, herbs are scarce here, especially since the medicine cats aren't allowed outside to pick them themselves."

Batfang's tail lashed in rage. "I wouldn't expect you to side with me, Clan sympathiser. You're mother must be so disappointed in you."

"Oh I'm sure she is." Shadeheart smiled. "But I don't care what you think, now let Shinewing go and leave her alone."

Batfang reluctantly took a step back. "If you weren't an Enforcer I'd have put you firmly where you belong." Then he turned tail and darted away to the safety of the warriors den.

Shadeheart sighed. "We need to get the Dark Forest out of here."

"Then get rid of your mother." Shinewing replied calmly, rising to her paws and dipping her head in thanks. "NoName keeps them all united. Without her they'll scatter, and return to their rogue lives in the Dark Forest, where they belong."

Silvershy's POV:

They left at dawn, under the first rays of sunlight. Java took the lead with his siblings flanking him. Together, the three felines looked like a formidable force, and Silvershy felt a burst of pride. These are my kits. If only Eagleflight were here to see them too.

Barely a few steps behind the three rogues stalked Silvershy and Spectrum. The Promethean stuck close to her, acting as a reassuring precense. Silvershy hoped the walk wasn't too long, because with her belly full of kits, she was easily exhausted.

The five cats made their way through the seemingly abandoned twolegplace. It was completely empty, with no noises at all. Unfortunately the arid smells still remained, making Silvershy feel sick. Oh, how she wanted to go back to the forest. How could the rogues live in such unbearable conditions?

As the cats passed a strange, bright yellow and red twoleg den which smelled more toxic than the rest of the area, Silvershy started picking up some sounds. Barely a heartbeat later, Java muttered. "Monster incoming." The pale brown tom swerved to the right suddenly, veering off the hot, stinking concrete and onto a patch of wind-swept grass.

It was then that Silvershy felt the rumbling in the ground, and the roaring of the monster as it thundered closer. A couple of heartbeats later, the monster streaked past them. It didn't spot them, thank StarClan. The silver she cat breathed a sigh of relief, which earned a few weird looks from the three rogues who had already started moving again.

"Clan cats rarely encounter monsters, they are widely seen as extremely dangerous and the warriors often hide to avoid being seen by them." Spectrum answered for her, the black she cat's voice sounding frustrated. She obviously didn't want to be anywhere near twolegplace, and Silvershy couldn't agree more.

Ebony snorted with laughter. "Monsters never leave their path! They don't care about you unless you're in their way."

"Not completely true." Java meowed, his head tilting towards his sister as he continued to lead the way down the empty pathway. "Don't you remember that monster who tripped? It nearly ran us over!"

"Good thing it crashed into the bushes instead." Stump muttered. "And died." The three rogues let out murmurs of agreement between themselves before falling into silence once again.

Silvershy sighed, fighting to keep up with their quick pace. She felt herself lagging behind, but she didn't want to say anything. Showing weakness was the last thing she wanted to do in front of these cats. Luckily, Spectrum used her powers to lift the weight from her paws slightly, making it much easier to walk. The silver she cat let out a soft mumble of thanks to the black she cat. I'm so lucky to have such a kind and selfless Promethean as a friend.

"We're nearly there." Java meowed, quickening the pace suddenly. Silvershy looked around to see they were heading deeper into twolegplace. There were more signs of life in this area, and it made her fur prickle with fright, but she let her three kits take the lead. They knew what they were doing.
