Chapter 15

Blossomkit's POV:

After her strange encounter with Whisp, Spectrum blinked her back to camp. The dark furred she cat was gone the second Blossomkit took her first step towards home. Well.. She's nice. Blossomkit sighed as she crept through a small hole in the camp wall.

She wondered how long she had been gone for. Had anyone noticed hee absence? Hopefully not. She didn't want NoName to be mad at her for going into the forest.

Luckily, Blossomkit made it into the nursery cave without anyone noticing. It was late, the sun was dipping behind the sea, casting long shadows in camp.

Inside the nursey, everyone was already asleep. Blossomkit snuck silently into the nest and curled up beside Shadekit, burying her muzzle into his warm chest fur.

As she drifted asleep, Blossomkit wondered if she was going to meet Whisp again, or if it was just a one-off. What did he mean by mentor? What was he going to teach her? Why were his eyes so weird, and why did he want her to get involved with the shadows?

Her thoughts were cut off as sleep finally took her.

Shadekit's POV:

Shadekit crept slowly through the shadows of the camp wall, his lips twisted in a wide grin as he made his way towards the side of the leaders den. NoName was laying by the entrance to her den sunning herself, her thick red tail flicking against the dusty ground.

The dark furred tom shifted his little brown paws, creeping ever closer to his mother. She still didn't notice his approach. I'm the best at stalking! He smirked triumphantly as he stopped right next to her tail as it flicked towards him. Shadekit wriggled his haunches and leapt up landing perfectly on her belly.

NoName let out a squeak of surprise, her head snapping up to look at her kit. "Shadekit!" She gasped out, pushing him off with her paw. He latched onto her foreleg and squirmed along it so that he could crawl onto her face.

"I scared you!" He cheered. "I'm the best hunter ever!" He batted at her muzzle and she huffed, trying to shake him off.

"I was resting." She grumbled, sitting up so that Shadekit rolled off her. "Why don't you go annoy your father?"

"I don't know where he is." Shadekit shrugged.

"He's sleeping in the den."

"Oh." The dark kit shrugged. "I'll stay here with you, your fur is soft." He hugged her tail, burying his face in the thick fur.

NoName rolled her glowing white eyes at him. "Alright then.. Just don't mess up the fur. I spent a good amount of time grooming it."

Shadekit nodded and burrowed into her soft tail, nibbling on her crimson fur.

A voice made Shadekit look up, and he saw one of the cats from the Ghost Collective stalk up to them, her eyes fixed on NoName. "Mind if I sit here for a bit?"

NoName looked up, her tail flicking Shadekit away and curling around her paws. "I don't mind." She meowed, looking up at the red she cat.

Shadekit looked at both she cats. They looked like identical twins. Both had thick red fur. The exact same shade of red. The only differences between the two were their eyes and size. The Ghost Collective cat was bigger and had black eyes. NoName was smaller and had white eyes.

They both noticed Shadekit's inquisitive stare and looked back at him. NoName frowned softly, but it quickly melted into a smile as the Ghost Collective she cat purred. "Aw, he's cute. Is he yours?"

NoName nodded and answered quickly. "Yes." Her voice came out a small squeak, and she cleared her throat before repeating. "Yes, yes he is my kit."

The red she cat peered down at Shadekit, smiling widely at him. "What's your name little one?"

"Shadekit." He squeaked in reply, staring up at her black eyes in awe.

"My name's Revenant." She purred in reply, leaning away to look back at NoName. "He doesn't take after your looks, he looks like his father."

NoName nodded. "Yeah, he looks exactly like his father."

"But the eyes are different." She murmured, leaning closer to Shadekit again. "Beautiful golden eyes." She murmured. "I wonder where you got that from."

NoName visibly tensed and she murmured swiftly. "Mhm, strange. It doesn't matter though."

Shadekit smirked and climbed onto Revenant's back. "Now I have two fluffy red cats to hug!"

"Aren't you lucky." NoName chuckled softly, seemingly relieved to have a change in conversation.

Revenant looked back at NoName. "We could definitely pass as sisters though." She giggled.

NoName smiled faintly and replied. "Yeah, we could."

Suddenly a blue she cat bowled into them, yowling joyfully, with Stormkit clinging to her back with a screech.

"Eeeeeeeeeee!" Stormkit shrieked as he flew over the she cat's head and crashed into Shadekit.

"Wraith!" Revenant hissed. "You could've injured that kit!"

Wraith laughed and leaned into Revenant with a grin. "He wouldn't let go, I had to do something!"

Shadekit giggled and looked at Stormkit. "You mouse-brain."

Stormkit grinned. "Whatever."
