Chapter 5

Crowpaw raced through the grass, happier then he had been for quite some time. he leaped over a stream, gleefully chasing a rabbit. Then he stopped. WindClan! I'm in WindClan territory! He thought quickly. He was deep in their territory. And he had caught prey in enemy territory! His mouth felt dry. But this rabbit can feed the whole elders den.. he shook himself, and grabbed the rabbit and took off, racing for the pine forest. He had crossed RiverClan territory too.... Dumb! Crowpaw you total lizardbrain! He took off, only to be stopped by a patrol of RiverClan warriors.... Just my luck! The warriors met his eyes, and growled, ''Hey! Hey, you!'' Crowpaw let out a small screech, and fled, dodging bushes and fallen logs. The RiverClan warriors were hard on his paws. He put on an extra burst of speed. This is what a WindClan warrior must feel like... He thought longingly of the moor, and the freedom he had felt... Suddenly there was nothing beneath his paws... The RiverClan warriors yowled after him, but they were blocked out by Crowpaw's screeches. The fall felt forever... He was falling off the ridge! Suddenly he hit hard stone and his world went black.

                                                                                        ***

Frostpaw was purring, leaping at Slatefang, practicing a move he had taught her. She mimicked it perfectly, then he mewed, ''You take your fighting skills after me, Frostpaw!'' But he was fading. Infact, the gloomy forest was fading. She was waking up. she waved her tail at her father and curled up, and opened her eyes to the light of the ShadowClan apprentice den. She suddenly heard Mistypaw screech, ''Crowpaw!'' Frostpaw snapped awake, leaping out of the den. Sure enough, Crowpaw lay on the shoulders of three RiverClan warriors. One of them stiffly said, ''We have to speak to Falconstar'' Several warriors cleared a path for him. But Frostpaw didn't care what they said. She was worried about Crowpaw.... He lay unconscious, his leg lay awkwardly underneath him. The other RiverClan warriors dipped their heads and hurried out of camp. Mistypaw then let out a muffled squeak. Silverleaf had been preparing and grabbed him, pulling him to a nest. Frostpaw felt blank. What had happened? What was he doing?
