Far From Home: Part 2 - Human AU

Part Two! I only have a basic idea of what's gonna happen in this chapter, so I don't know if there will be a part three. If you guys do end up really liking this ship, I think I'm gonna transfer it to an actual separate book!

I'm also changing a character's personality from the canon books here, like I did with Bluestar in FirepawxSandpaw. I'm sure you'll notice it when you see it.

Lol I like procrastination.

DISCLAIMER! Mild Language

The plane ended up landing in North Carolina a little bit past 1 am. Crowfeather couldn't be bothered to pull out his phone and check the exact time. Leafpool had been right, that coffee really was his demise.

Next to him, Leafpool was still sleeping, blissfully unaware that they had arrived in North Carolina. Crowfeather knew the stories everyone wrote or descriptions they gave, but he had to agree, Leafpool did look cute while she slept.

"Hey, you gotta wake up", Crowfeather whispered, "We made it to North Carolina. Just make it to the car with me. I'll grab our bags." Leafpool barely even cracked her eyes and stood up, heavily slouched over and head hanging low. "Meet me just outside of the terminal, I'll be quick."

Leafpool departed, and Crowfeather reached up to the overhead compartments to grab their carry-on bags. He was able to fit both on his back, as Leafpool had one of those sling packs and he himself just had a normal backpack.

Crowfeather shuffled his way towards the exit of the plane, muttering the occasional 'sorry' or 'excuse me' every time he bumped into someone. When he did reach the exit, he thanked the flight attendant and went to meet up with Leafpool.

Leafpool was curled up in a ball on one of the chairs just outside the gate, not fully asleep but most definitely not awake. when she saw Crowfeather she stood up and walked over to him, looking up at him with lazy eyes and saying, "I ordered an Uber while I waited. It'll be here soon."

"Perfect. You can go back to your chair if you want, I'm going to grab our suitcases." Crowfeather watched as Leafpool slowly made her way back to her chair and sat down, sinking into the cushion and curling back up into a ball. He turned towards the luggage drop off area, and stood as he waited for he and Leafpool's luggage to come around the loop.

Not too much later he saw their bags, and mentally deadpanned. He had forgotten just how big Leafpool's bag was! Luckily for him, he wouldn't have to carry it at all because it had wheels.

Crowfeather pulled his bag off of the conveyor belt, took a deep breath, and then with a grunt heaved Leafpool's suitcase over the lip of the conveyor belt and onto the ground. He extended the handle on Leafpool's suitcase, and did the same to his, pulling one suitcase with each hand. He left his other bag slung over his shoulder. Man, Leafpool was just visiting Wisconsin and I have less stuff than her. I know she said her family wasn't exactly poor, but who needs this much stuff for a visit?

He pulled the two bags with him, once again heading towards the gate where Leafpool was, only to see her completely asleep. He smiled to himself watching her. She looked so small, curled up in a ball and sleeping peacefully.

Crowfeather hated that he had to wake her up, but their Uber would be here soon and they had to make it to the pick up area. "Hey", he said quietly, gently shaking her shoulder, "Come on. Just to the Uber. Then you can sleep until the morning."

Leafpool lifted her head and half opened her eyes, looking up at Crowfeather. She closed her eyes and sighed, then stood up next to Crowfeather. "Okay, let's go." Crowfeather walked on normally next to Leafpool, who was basically dragging her legs over the floor.

The Uber was already parked and waiting for them, and when the driver made eye contact with Crowfeather, Crowfeather made a nodding motion towards the trunk to have him open it. The driver understood, and as the two reached the car, the trunk was almost all the way open.

Crowfeather once again heaved Leafpool's bag into the car, and noticed a visible dip in the car's center of gravity as he did so. What the Hell does she have in there? Her entire closet? His bags were, once again, much easier to lift, which was a nice break.

Crowfeather got into the car on the passenger's side, and saw that Leafpool had already fallen back asleep on the driver's side. How does one fall asleep three times in a matter of 20 minutes or so? Did she run a marathon before she met me?

Speaking of just meeting me, how the Hell does she trust me enough to let me come with her to her hometown? Even with the whole "saved from danger" thing, I'm still just a stranger from the streets. You know, stranger danger? This is like "ooo stranger let me take him to my house and show him where I live".

"835 Karosse Drive, right?" The Uber driver asked.

"Oh, uh, yeah. Thanks", Crowfeather responded. He snuck another quick look at the sleeping Leafpool before turning back around to stare out of his window.

'~******~'

The car pulled into a massive driveway guarded by a huge gate. Leafpool sensed this turn and stirred from her slumber, lifting her head up and saying, "Here already?"

The Uber driver nodded and pulled up to an intercom. Leafpool slowly stretched her hand out of her now open window, and pressed the button, which initiated a buzz from the speaker.

"It's Leafpool."

The gate started swinging open and a different voice came through the intercom. "Welcome home, Miss. I'll alert your parents that you have arrived."

"Thank you, Brackenfur. And stop calling me 'Miss'. You're older than me."

"As you wish Leafpool."

The gate finally reached the apex of its swinging, allowing the car to pass through and start its trek up the massive driveway.

Crowfeather was appalled at how someone could have this much money and not gloat about it. He continued staring out the window, his jaw dropping as he stared at the house that only got bigger and bigger as the car drew nearer to the gigantic fountain sitting in front of it.

The car slowly pulled around the cul-de-sac, stopping once it reached the side closest to the massive front door. Crowfeather quickly pulled out a few dollars and handed them to the Uber, and then stepped outside, closing his door and running around to open Leafpool's for her. "You don't have to do absolutely everything for me, you know", Leafpool said.

"Wow, so much gratitude", Crowfeather responded, "I know, but it's late and you're tired. That coffee earlier still has me awake, which seems to be a good thing now."

Leafpool slightly grinned and stepped out of the car, opening up the trunk of the car and grabbing Crowfeather's bag. "I'll at least do this", she said, "You get my bag."

Crowfeather smiled and grabbed her bag, groaning as he pulled it over the lip of the car trunk and set it on the ground. He pulled the handle out of the bag and shifted the carry-on bag still on his shoulder, closing the trunk as he did so.

"Thanks again!" Crowfeather called after the Uber driver. Crowfeather saw the man's hand come out of the window in a waving motion as he disappeared in the darkness.

The two made their way to the front door, which Leafpool rang and patiently waited for. An incredibly beautiful and tired woman with sandy-colored hair in a ponytail opened the door, and immediately hugged Leafpool. "Hi honey, how was your trip?" She said.

"It was good. Squirrelflight and Brambleclaw are doing well", Leafpool responded.

"And who is this?" Another voice asked. Crowfeather looked behind Leafpool to see a tall, handsome man with fiery ginger hair tying his robe and walking up to the door.

"This is Crowfeather, the guy I was telling you about."

Crowfeather gave a smile and a handshake to the tall man. "Good to meet you, sir", Crowfeather said.

"Please, Crowfeather, for what you did for my daughter, you don't need to call me 'sir'. Just call me Fireheart", the tall man, Fireheart, responded.

"Wait, you're Fireheart? Like, the Fireheart? Owner of Greensboro Electrics?"

Fireheart nodded in surprise, "You've heard of me?"

"Heard of you? You're all my boss talked about! He tells me you taught him basically all he knows."

"Oh, Onewhisker?" Crowfeather nodded, "Yeah, he's all old friend of mine."

Crowfeather released Fireheart's hand and looked to the mom. "You must be Sandstorm then?"

Sandstorm tiredly smiled, "The one and only."

Crowfeather looked back down to Leafpool with a teasing gleam in his eye, "How could you not tell me that these were your parents?" Leafpool shrugged in response, too tired to form words.

"We can further introduce ourselves in the morning. I'm sure everyone is tired, let's all get to bed and we can talk in the morning", Fireheart interrupted, "Crowfeather, could you help me with these bags? We can just set them in the foyer."

Crowfeather nodded and picked Leafpool's bag up over the first step into the house, and immediately set it down again. Leafpool handed her father Crowfeather's bag, and followed her mother past them to the winding staircase that led upstairs.

Crowfeather followed Fireheart further into the house and set Leafpool's bags on a bench, next to his own bags that Fireheart had already set down. Crowfeather was surprised to see Fireheart staring right at him when he turned back around. "Mind having a quick chat?" Fireheart asked.

Crowfeather nodded. "Of course."

"Good", and Fireheart pointed to two armchairs that faced each other. The two sat down, Fireheart leaning forwards and Crowfeather sitting tall. "I saw the way you looked at my daughter."

Uh oh, this talk. And so soon too.

"Are you two officially dating?"

"No."

"Good. Points for you", Crowfeather breathed a small sigh of relief, "This is a talk that Sandstorm's father gave to me when we first started dating, and I didn't get those points."

Fireheart smiled at his own joke, and continued, "Being a man, I see where this is going, and would assume you would want this relationship to move quickly so that you can get married and start a family and all. I understand that. However, being a father, I'm very protective of Leafpool. I know that Squirrelflight can fend for herself, but Leafpool I worry more about. You can probably tell, seeing as what happened back up in Wisconsin."

Crowfeather nodded in response, "I would assume she isn't completely helpless though."

"Of course she isn't. No one is. But still, for the past 24 years, protecting Leafpool has been my responsibility. Now I'm getting ready to pass that responsibility onto someone else. I trust your ability to do that, Crowfeather, but you have to understand the place this puts me in. I'm handing over the reins"

Crowfeather nodded once again, "Of course, Fireheart."

"Good, then we are in agreement", Fireheart stood up, "If you'd like, you can take the guest room at the end of the hall upstairs. I'm sure it'd be much better than the couch down here."

Crowfeather fell into laughter with the ginger-haired man, and said, "Probably, yeah." Fireheart stuck his hand out in request for a handshake, and Crowfeather gladly accepted it.

Crowfeather then lurched forward as Fireheart pulled his hand down, forcing him to come in close. "One more thing. I'm not going to say that I'll do to you what you do to Leafpool, because there are definitely a few things that I wouldn't do back to you. But, if you hurt Leafpool in any scale, or completely break her heart, I won't hesitate to beat your ass. I'm stepping off to the sidelines, not going back to the stands. Understood?"

Crowfeather hastily nodded his head, amazed at how quickly Fireheart was able to change from his hearty mood to a look that could see Crowfeather's deepest secrets.

"Good. Head upstairs and get to bed. You must be tired." It was true. The coffee that Crowfeather had was starting to fade, and he could feel weariness creeping up in its place.

Crowfeather raced up the stairs, then slowed down as he passed the master's room and what he assumed to be Leafpool's room, so that he didn't wake anybody. Once he reached the guest room, he took his watch and glasses off, setting them on a bedside table. He then crawled into possibly the comfiest bed in the world, which quickly took the role of slowing his heart into a steady rhythm as he fell asleep.

Yeah this chapter was about half the length of the last one lol.

This is not the last part of this story! There is still more! Let me know if you think I should transfer this to its own book or if it should stay here.

I believe it's been almost 6 months since I posted the last chapter of this story. Sorry!

ALSO

I don't think my next chapter here will be continuing this story. I'm gonna branch out to something else for a bit, maybe some requests (once they ever come in *cri*)

Thanks,
Maple
