Chapter 8

Recap

When Kraigan discovers that Berk has the powers of a Siligon Warrior already, he tries to make him more powerful. However, the darkness corrupts Berk. The demon controlling Berk causes chaos and bloodshed in the Siligon Camp before heading to Dark Lands.

For a long time, Kingston and Godag continued staring at Kraigan. They waited for him to speak something.

"For God's sake! Speak up!" Godag ran out of patience at last.

Kraigan still refused to say anything and continued diverting his eyes between the two.

"I can't take it anymore," Godag got up and kicked Kraigan from his chair.

"Stop it, Godag!" Kingston grabbed Godag's hand before he could punch Kraigan.

"He's a waste of time. I should rather prepare for the battle," Godag started walking out of the tent.

"Wait! I want to help you kill that demon! Please let me fight with you!" Kraigan begged.

"Only if you tell me what happened," Godag declared.

"Fine, I'll tell you everything," Kraigan got up from the ground and sat down on his chair. "You might find it hard to believe but Berk already had the powers of a Siligon Warrior."

"What do you mean?" Godag demanded.

"I saw him produce fire with his hands. He was also a skilled fighter," Kraigan answered.

"How is that possible?"

"From his father, perhaps,"

"I don't believe this!"

"If you refuse to believe in the truth, how can I tell you what happened?"

Godag was under stress already. And Kraigan was doing his job of annoying Godag perfectly. Godag punched a chair, breaking it into two pieces.

"Please continue," Godag took a deep breath to calm himself.

"So, as I was saying, he had the powers of a Siligon Warrior. I wanted to make him even more powerful. He drank the Kyogaza Water but got corrupted by the dark voices." Kraigan stated.

"That has happened before as well. But Berk didn't die like the others. Why did that happen?" Godag asked.

"I don't know," Kraigan shook his hands.

"I have a theory," Kingston interrupted.

"And what is that?" Godag asked.

Before Kingston could speak up, Lousia entered the tent.

"Our suspicion was right. He really is heading for the Dark Lands," Lousia announced.

"And our army?" Godag asked.

"All assembled. Every Siligon Warrior we have will be fighting side by side against Berk," Lousia said.

"Great job! Let's see how that demon will withstand our combined strength," Godag said.

"But the Phoenixes are asking who will lead them," Lousia said.

Godag turned to Kraigan and studied his face for a while before replying to Lousia, "For now, Kraigan will lead them. We'll decide his fate after stopping Berk."

Berk was aware of their arrival. When the Siligon Warriors arrived at the huge wall of stone which separated Siligon from the Dark Lands, they found Berk sitting on a rock.

"Hundred of the greatest warriors in the land all gathered to kill me," Berk laughed. His voice still sounded the same but more ancient.

"You stand no chance against us," Godag said.

Berk laughed even louder. "You fools! You thrive upon my power!"

All four leaders of the Siligon army passed looks at each other. The demon standing in front of them knew answers to everything which was a mystery to the Siligon Warriors. And yet, they couldn't let curiosity become their downfall.

Together, the four leaders led the entire army into battle. Full of energy, the Siligon Warriors shouted their battle cries and charged at Berk.

However, before the army could come closer to Berk, a huge shockwave appeared on the ground beneath them. The force threw all of them away.

"I can do everything you can but you can't do what I can," Berk said.

Berk turned his back on the army and headed for the stone wall, reciting inaudible prayers and using his magic to break the barrier.

"He's distracted," Godag crawled to Kingston and Kraigan, making as less noise as possible. "We should attack."

"Are you sure this is not a trap?" Lousia said in a hushed voice.

"I don't know for sure. But maybe that creature is dumb?" Godag suggested.

"I highly doubt it but we have no other choice. An attack from the front isn't gonna work," Kingston said.

"Then everyone should attack together," Godag said, "On the count of ten, we'll charge at Berk from behind."

Godag began his countdown and everyone started getting up slowly. By the time Godag finished his countdown, everyone was up and prepared for another attack.

The plan surprisingly worked. The Siligon Warriors together charged at Berk and the leaders yell out the command.

"Phoenix! Fire!" Kraigan cried.

"Hawks! Attack!" Lousia shouted.

The Hawks and Phoenixes together attacked Berk, wrapping him with fire and shooting arrows at him.

The turn for Bears and Panthers came next. Kraigan and Lousia made their warriors stop the attack so that Godag and Kraigan could lead the final assault on Berk.

Godag and Kingston expected Berk to be weaker now after the attack by fire and arrows. However, they found Berk smiling devilishly instead.

"Your magic tickled," Berk said. "Now it's turn for my magic."

Before the army could get alerted, the black smoke surrounding Berk intensified. Using the motion of his hands, Berk brought the smoke under control and made it flow towards the Siligon Warriors.

Godag was the first one to experience this smoke. As soon as his hands came in contact with the smoke, a stinging pain came to him as his skin was burnt.

When he looked around, he found everyone engrossed in the smoke. Some of them managed to survive it while the others were killed. Cries and shrieks of pain conquered the entire army.

A few of the Siligon Warriors who still had the strength and courage left to attack Berk were killed instantly by his deadly blade.

By the time the smokes started fading away, all hopes of winning had been lost. Almost half of the army had been killed and yet Berk hadn't taken a scratch.

"The mighty Siligon Warriors," Berk joked, "People say that a Siligon Warrior alone can kill a hundred soldiers. But a hundred Siligon Warriors failed to kill one single person."

"The battle isn't over yet," Kraigan stood up. "You need to leave Berk's body."

"Berk is dead. You got him killed," the demon laughed.

"It was you!" Kraigan went for Berk. He produced Red Fire from his hands and ran circles around Berk.

Before Berk knew it, he found himself in the middle of a tornado of red fire. For the first time ever, he felt pain, as the fire channeled by Kraigan's rage burned through his skin.

However, the attack drained all energy from Kraigan. Before even a minute, Kraigan was exhausted and his fire turned weaker.

Taking use of this opportunity, Berk threw away Kraigan using his invisible force. Kraigan's head smashed with a tree and he passed out.

"My Children will kill the rest of you," Berk emitted more smoke from his body and diverted it to the stone wall.

The wall started crumbling slowly, revealing a void of total darkness. Heads started popping out of the darkness.

Finally, the first-ever creature came into view. It wore a rusty old amour and had slimy black skin. Through the helmet on his face, his red eyes could be seen.

"My children! Take back my land! Kill everyone!" Berk commanded.

An entire army of similar creatures came out of the darkness. They let out a howl before running towards the battered Siligon army. However, before the army of darkness could reach them, the Siligon Warriors disappeared.
